Beyonce Brings "Lemonade" to Life at MTV VMAs

We have officially run out of superlatives for Beyonce.

On Sunday night at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Rihanna won a lifetime achievement award.

Britney Spears returned to the stage after about a decade and Kanye West gave us a classic rant.

But, once again, Queen Bey made all viewers bow down in her presence. She stole the show.

She won eight trophies for starters, making her the most-decorated singer of all-time at the ceremony.

And she also sang a 15-minute medley of songs from "Lemonade" that left anyone with a pulse standing and cheering in awe.

Following an introduction by Serena Williams, the segment opened with Beyonce standing in a white feather coat and launching into “Pray You Catch Me,” while her dances fell to the ground, one by one behind her.

She then tossed the jacket aside to reveal a lace black leotard before it was time for “Hold Up.”

And you better believe a baseball bat was incorporated into this routine.

From there, back-up dancers donning gold latex dresses did their thing while Beyonce wished "dust to side chicks" in "Sorry."

But that was far from it.

The superstar then draped her shoulders in a spotted black and white fur for "Don"t Hurt Yourself," concluding the number surrounded by flames.

Yes, actual flames, as you can see here:

The performance aptly ended with “Formation,” whose rendition featured dancers rocking some matching black over-the-knee boots.

The artist and her impressive troupe also organized themselves into feminist formation to recreate the symbol for women with their bodies.

Really, you need to see it to believe it and appreciate it.

Beyonce dedicated her routine and her Video of the Year win to “the people of New Orleans,” where parts of the visual album “Lemonade” were filmed.

Upon accepting the evening"s most prestigious trophy, she added:

"I"d like to thank my beautiful daughter and my incredible husband for all of their support."

We"re out of words for Beyonce.

Just sit back and appreciate all she has to offer now:

Beyonce: SUED for Stealing Lemonade Trailer!

Earlier this year, Beyonce released the “video album” for “Lemonade,” and fans went berserk.

The singer was praised for the HBO special as a visual achievement, even though much of the focus centered on her revelations that husband Jay Z cheated on her.

Unfortunately, Queen Bey has now been accused of copying the trailer for “Lemonade,” according to E! News.

Kentucky filmmaker alleges that Beyonce stole “substantial parts” of his original short film PALINOIA.

Fulks recently filed court documents in a New York civil suit, naming Beyonce as the defendant.

The documents read:

“The number of aesthetic decisions included in Plaintiff’s PALINOIA Work that are parroted in Defendants’ LEMONADE Trailer demonstrates that the LEMONADE Trailer is substantially similar to the PALINOIA Work.

“The misappropriated content includes both the particular elements that the Plaintiff chose to comprise the PALINOIA Work and the coordination and arrangement of those particular elements.”

Among the similarities include the use of graffiti styles, parking garage shots, the use of black and red in many scenes and similar title cards.

In addition, Fulks cites a similar use of poetry voice over and a “heavy, dark, and angst-laden” mood that’s present in both works.

Fulks requests a trial by jury and that Beyonce’s team provide an account of “any and all profits derived from and attributable to their exploitation of PALINOIA including profits from the sales of the LEMONADE Album in all media, from all sources, worldwide.”

Fulks attests that some e-mails containing links to his work made their way from his manager to Bryan Younce, a Columbia executive who worked with Beyonce in the past.

Beyonce has not yet responded to the accusations.

Jay Z FINALLY Responds to Beyonce "Lemonade" Controversy!

Unless you just stepped out of a time machine straight from 1998 and you still think the biggest Jay Z news involves his beef with Nas, then you’ve probably heard about Beyonce’s Lemonade album and the controversy that surrounds it.

On the off chance that you did just arrive from the ’90s – welcome!

Enjoy the new millennium during your visit; please don’t check don’t check out any coverage of the current presidential election, and allow us to bring you up to speed on Lemonade Gate:

You see, in the lyrics for her sixth studio album, Beyonce dropped some pretty clear hints that Jay cheated on her

Some say Jay was pissed about the lyrics; others believe the whole thing was drama cooked up for the sake of album sales, and Hova was in on it from the start.

Either way, the rapper has been mum on the topic ever since the scandal began.

We may never know if this was just a clever publicity stunt from the Carters, but Jay finally responded to the controversy today in a way that makes us think the whole thing is about as authentic as your average reality show.

In a guest verse on a remix of a Fat Joe song (not the typical way to respond to rumors of marital trouble, but Jay and Bey aren’t your typical couple), the rapper dropped the following lines:

“You know you made it when the fact/Your marriage made it is worth millions/Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is survival of the littlest.”

He’s not necessarily saying that all the drama Bey addressed on Lemonade is made up, but it does seem like he’s not too bothered by the whole thing.

Meanwhile, Page Six is claiming that the hip hop power couple is working on a surprise album together in which they’ll both open about about their recent struggles:

“Jay and Beyoncé were never going to do an interview to address all the questions that came up after Lemonade,” one source claims. “It’s more their style to respond through music.”

Something tells us Jay’s not about to pour his heart out on wax, but we do expect the Carters to continue to address this whole thing musically.

Hopefully, we’ll eventually get an answer to the question that’s been on our mind for weeks:

Who the hell is Becky With the Good Hair?

Solange Knowles: Still Pissed at Jay Z! Validated By "Lemonade" Lyrics!

It’s ancient gossip history at this point, but you probably remember the 2014 incident in which Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, attacked Jay Z in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party.

If you somehow forgot (or just want to relive one of the Carter family’s most profoundly WTF?! moments) check out the video below:

Yeah, when we said “attacked,” we didn’t mean Solange gave Jay a piece of her mind.

The the girl went full Jerry Springer on Hov, and it’s worth noting that her famous sister pretty much just stood there and let it happen.

At the time, it was rumored that Solange was pissed about rumors that Jay was cheating on Bey with Rachel Roy.

Now that Roy is one of the suspected Beckies cited in Bey’s Lemonade release as possible Jay side-pieces, Solange must be feeling more than a little smug.

The lesser-known Knowles has been in favor of her sister dropping the Jigga Man for quite some time, and it seems she’s no longer alone in her efforts.

“Everyone in Beyonce’s family is supportive of them staying together except for Solange,” a source tells Hollywood Life.

“She was so happy when Beyonce was making moves to leave Jay Z – she thinks Beyonce deserves better than a guy that wants to run around. “

We think pretty much everyone would agree with that.

The source adds that Bey has tried to force her husband and sister to patch things up, but that now that seems less likely than ever:

“Beyonce tried to make Solange and Jay Z kiss and make up, but it hasn’t really worked. They’re civil with each other for Beyonce’s sake, but that’s as far as it goes.”

So it looks like Solange was right and Jay was acting like a dog.

The only question now is: does Bey’s little sister know who Becky is?

Azealia Banks, Iggy Azalea BOTH Attack Beyonce Over "Lemonade" Lyrics

Well, the lyrics to Beyonce’s Lemonade album are still tearing the freaking country apart for some reason, but in an unexpected twist, the controversial recording has managed to very temporarily unite two longtime rivals.

Yes, it seems Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks are finally both on the same page about something…kind of.

We’ll start with Iggy, since her criticism of Queen Bey is stupider and therefore easier to unpack.

Like so many others, Iggy has been thinking a lot about Beyonce’s “Becky” line.

Unlike the others, however, Iggy isn’t concerned with the identity of Becky, but rather with what the lyric means for oppressed people … like Iggy Azalea.

Shortly after the “visual album” version of Lemonade hit HBO, someone on Twitter accused Iggy of being racist for objecting to being referred to by the B-word.

(“Becky,” of course. What did you think we meant?)

“Girl BYE,” Iggy tweeted in response. “Do you know how many time ppl have called me BECKY? it didnt have any kind of positive intention behind it. dont start.

Naturally, the tweet left Iggy vulnerable to attack from hundreds of fans who pointed out that the notion Iggy Azalea complaining about being racially discriminated against is a tad ridiculous.

Several media outlets reported the story as I-G-G-Y accusing Beyonce of being racist, an angle that the Aussie rapper took umbrage with:

“Its not clickable if you say it how it is, is it? We all know this game by now,” Iggy tweeted yesterday.

But…if she thinks people who use the word Becky to refer to white women are racist, and Beyonce used the word to…never mind. We’ll leave it to Twitter to tell Iggy how dumb her argument is.

Moving on to the Azealia who’s superior both in terms of rap skills and her ability to piss everyone off, Ms. Banks also took issue with Bey’s lyrics as well, but for very different reasons:

“This heartbroken black female narrative you keep trying to push is the Antithesis of what feminism is,” Azealia tweeted in one of the more intelligent critiques of the album we’ve heard thus far.

“You been singing about this n–ga for years and he still playing you. That’s not strength that’s stupidity.

“And it’s not what the national black women’s conversation needs right now. More pain more suffering in the face of a man.”

“You keep crying over a man and perpetuating that sad black female sufferance and it’s Not good for what we’re trying to accomplish here.”

Again, we won’t weigh in on whether or not we think Azealia is being fair or unfair here, but it’s certainly a more thought-provoking argument than the dumbassery being spewed by the likes of Iggy Azalea and Piers Morgan.

At the end of the day, we like the album from a musical standpoint, and hey – if Jay Z is cool with those lyrics, we’re pretty sure just about anyone can come to terms with them.

Jay Z: PISSED at Beyonce Over "Lemonade" Lyrics?!

In case you somehow missed it, Beyonce released Lemonade – her surprise “visual album” – over the weekend and the whole world proceeded to lose it’s freaking mind.

The fact that the album is pretty solid musically has been overshadowed by the drama surrounding its release (It briefly looked as though only Tidal subscribers would have access to the full tracklist.) and especially its lyrics.

Obviously, Queen Bey is no stranger to controversy following the minefield surrounding “Formation,” but despite its innocuous title “Lemonade” is somehow kicking up even more dust.

In addition to the usual hand-wringing from cultural conservatives (Piers Morgan just asked Twitter if white people are allowed to listen to the album.), there’s been a veritable uprising from Mrs. Carter’s most obsessive fans (commonly referred to as “the Bey Hive”) over lyrics that seem to suggest the singer’s, rap legend Jay Z, was unfaithful.

Bey hasn’t responded to claims that she called Jay out for cheating but based on some of the more revelatory lines from her latest release, she may not have to.

At first it was reported that Jay was cool with the lyrics, but now several insiders are claiming that the hip hop icon is not happy about his marital strife playing out on a public stage.

“Jay Z is not on board with Beyonce’s new album,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.

“He hates the direction that her music is taking. Jay Z honestly feels like he is the reason that Beyonce has become so famous.”

It seems Jay is upset not only that his wife is venting her frustrations with their marriage in her music, but also with the fact that Bey is a bigger part of the national cultural conversation than ever, while he hasn’t had a major release since 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail.

“The tables have turned in their marriage and her recent success is just driving them further apart,” the insider says.

“She resents him for so many things right now.”

Right now, it looks as though there’s no truth to the rumors that Beyonce and Jay Z are in the process of divorcing, but it certainly seems there’s plenty of trouble in what was once regarded as one of Hollywood’s most stable marriages.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Rita Ora Breaks Silence on "Lemonade" Lyrics

Well, you have to hand it to her for speaking up.

Rita Ora wants everyone to know that she has nothing to do with Beyonce’s “Lemonade.”

Today, the British singer Tweeted that any rumor connecting her to Beyonce’s single about “He better call Becky with the good hair,” whom fans initially thought was about designer Rachel Roy.

“I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false,” Ora wrote.

“I have nothing but the upmost respect for Beyonce. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.”

Ora posted two photos to social media that prompted a collective WTF from fans.

The first showed her in a lemon bra, while the second featured poster art for 1973’s Ash Wednesday, about a woman who changes her appearance to win back her husband.

Roy also put out a statement denying any sort of involvement with Beyonce and Jay-Z, even though she had been reportedly carrying on an affair with Jay prior to the MET Ball in May 2014.

“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest.

“My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that,” Royal stated, referring to an Instagram she posted in response to Beyonce’s lyrics.

“There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally.

There is no truth to the rumors.”

Rita Ora Wears Suspicious Lemonade Bra: Is She "Becky?"

Um…

Rachel Roy may not be off the hook, but she’s now in good company.

Radar Online just caught singer Rita Ora’s latest Snapchat, and it’s a doozy.

Ora posed in a sheer bra with lemons covering her nipples, while wearing a “J” charm necklace (below).

One need not be a super-sleuth to figure out that Ora was either sending a message to Beyonce, or poking fun at her new album, Lemonade (or maybe both).

The album should be retitled “Marital Strife and The Creative Lyrics It Births,” because Bey took whatever feels she has dealt with in her marriage to Jay-Z and poured it all over them tracks.

In “Sorry,” Beyonce sings “better call Becky with the good hair,” potentially referring to fashion designer Rachel Roy, who was accused of having an affair with Jay-Z in 2014.

Roy responded via Instagram:

“Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. live in the light #nodramaqueens.”

Fans went nuts on Roy, to the point where she had to make her account private.

However, Ora’s Snapchat was then discovered.

“She’s becky, not Rachel. WAKE UP AMERICA,” one tweeted.

Another wrote, “I’m all for dragging Rachel Roy but what about Rita Ora posing in a lemon Bikini with a J around her neck.”

Beyonce: Calling Out Jay-Z for CHEATING in "Lemonade"??

What you trying to say, Bey?

In case you didn’t hear, Beyonce’s new album “Lemonade” just came out, and with it, what’s being dubbed as a “visual album” of the same name aired last night on HBO.

The queen completely slayed, because that’s her thing, but the Beyhive is all abuzz in speculating that it was all about Jay-Z’s alleged infidelity.

The lyrics to a number tracks on the album not so subtly call out some dude for cheating on his wife.

Given that, you know, Beyonce is singing them hints that this dude just might be her husband Jay-Z.

And given that Jay-Z is rumored to have taken a side chick long ago, well, fans are presuming that “Lemonade” is their smoking gun.

Just check out these telltale words:

“Don’t Hurt Yourself:”

I am the dragon breathing fire
Beautiful man, I’m the lion, Beautiful man, I know you’re lying.
I smell that fragrance on your Louis V, boy
Just give my fat ass a big kiss, boy
Tonight I’m fucking up all your sh*t, boy, this is your final warning
You know I give you life
If you try this sh*t again you gon’ lose your wife

“Hold Up:”

Something don’t feel right because it ain’t right, especially coming up after midnight
I smell your secrets and I’m not too perfect to ever feel this worthless
How did it come down to this, going through your call list?
I don’t wanna lose my pride but I’ma f**k me up a bitch.

“Sorry:”

Looking at my watch, he shoulda been home
Today I regret the night I put that ring on
He always got them f**king excuses
He only want me when I’m not on there
He better call Becky with the good hair

If you ask us, this album sounds like it’s all about revenge, like a hard-as-a-mother version of Adele’s “21.”

And by the way, about that “Becky with the good hair,” fans have theories on who that is, too.

Mostly because Rachel Roy dropped a pretty solid hint that she was this “Becky” on Instagram just hours after “Lemonade” aired.

Of course, it’s possible this is all just some hypothetical husband and wife she’s singing about.

Or is it?
