Jill Smokler, Scary Mommy Blogger, Announces Divorce; Gay Husband
Jill Smokler is best known for writing about her children.
But the blogger behind wildly popular website Scary Mommy made news over the weekend for a heartfelt message she shared with readers about her marriage.
Specifically, about the surprising reason why her marriage is coming to an end.
Via an emotional post on Facebook, Smokler said on Satuday her husband is gay.
The soon-to-be former couple has three kids and has been involved romantically for over two decades.
“Yesterday, Jeff and I told our children that we are divorcing, after more than 17 years of marriage and 23 years of togetherness,” Smokler wrote.
“We also told them that the impetus for the divorce is the fact that Jeff is gay.
“Without getting into too much personal detail, this is a reality which we have faced together for many years.”
She added:
“For a very long time, the deep love we had for one another sustained us through the more difficult moments that our increasingly diverging sexuality created.
“We have spent more than half of our lives inseparable, and we are very proud of the life and family we have built together. We have been true partners and friends; we are a kickass team.
“And while we will no longer love each other as husband and as wife, we remain deeply committed to one another as partners and co-parents to the three most incredible kids we could ask for.
“It’s our greatest hope that this experience translates into raising empathetic, caring and open-minded children who learn to embrace their differences… and respect and appreciate that which makes others different, too.”
Jeff, meanwhile, went ahead and shared his side of this story on Scary Mommy.
Explaining that he knew he was gay for about the last “four or five years,” he wrote the following:
“I always knew I was different, but when you meet your soulmate when you’re 18 years old – only five years older than my own daughter is now – and that person is a woman, you simply think ‘thank God then, I can’t be gay.”
Jeff and Jill are parents to a nine-year old, an 11-year old and a 13-year old.
“One thing I’ll say about my own journey is this: What should have been an easy choice — a no brainer — was the hardest decision I’ve ever made,” Jeff also wrote.
“Once I came to terms with the fact that I was gay, I figured I had two options:
I could die — either from my intentional neglect of my health and well-being, or perhaps from something even more tragic — leaving my children fatherless, or I could come out and hope that I remained surrounded by the love of my friends, family, wife and children.”
During an interview with the Today show on Friday, Jill talked about breaking the news to the kids.
She said her and Jeff’s 13-year-old daughter reacted with sympathy and even offered to hug her father, while their boys had more trouble with the announcement.
Jill said they have “weepy moments” but have still been “incredibly mature” given the situation.
“I have had probably 70 people message me or email me privately who are in the same situation,” she said on Today, adding:
“This has been really good for me. For as many nasty comments as we get on the internet, every time I have put something out there that has made me feel super vulnerable or that was painfully honest, the response has always been amazing.”
Scary Mommy has over 2.8 million Likes on Facebook.
It is a go-to website for parenting tales and advice.
Added Jeff in his Scary Mommy entry, focusing on what’s most important:
Our children are amazing. They are all digesting the information in their own ways, but, boy, are they all also showing their true colors.
Brush away all of the worst characteristics and idiosyncrasies one would expect from kids their ages, and we’re left with compassionate, thoughtful, wonderful children.

Jenelle Evans" Pregnancy Slammed By Sister: Poor Jace! Mommy Only Cares About Hooking Up with Men!
Teen Mom 2 terror Jenelle Evans has finally confirmed her pregnancy, but at least one member of her family is far from thrilled about it.
News that David Eason got Jenelle Evans pregnant with her third child surfaced earlier this summer, but was only confirmed by her this week.
In fact, the reality star was far from pleased at the manner in which news that she was expecting baby #3 came out following her car accident.
But now it’s public knowledge, and from the looks of the photos posted by Jenelle and David (below), they are hyped to have a daughter.
Jenelle’s sister is less than enthusiastic for her, though.
Wednesday, Ashleigh Evans took to Facebook to share her reaction to the news, which was pretty much what a lot of us were thinking.
She just went ahead and said it without mincing words.
“So far I got 3 messages,” she began on Facebook.
“From my husband and friends, all of screen shots from reporters trying to sell me out to make me look bad now that my sister is expecting.”
“I really don’t are that she’s pregnant.”
Damn. She does care about one thing, though, and that is Jace, Jenelle’s first child via Andrew Lewis, who isn’t in their lives whatsoever:
“It makes me sad for my poor nephew who I’ve watched him struggle over the years of all the hardships he’s had to go through.”
“One day he’s gonna resent his mother and say wow!!”
“Mommy only cares about hooking up with men and having different babies with different men while I’m being raised by…someone else.”
Ashleigh then went on to throw MAJOR shade at Jenelle.
“It’s sad, 3 babies all different dads before 25, no job skills, no formal education, no life skills,” she lamented of Evans’ romantic life.
“I hope someday she realize that she’s done a lot of hurt.”
As you can see in the photo above, with Jenelle and Ashleigh along with their mother Barbara, she is clearly pretty far along in her pregnancy.
It’s not clear what the status of her relationship with the reality star is, but what we can tell you is that there appears to be some resentment.
Ashleigh has her own drama to deal with lately, too.
You won’t see if her you watch Teen Mom 2 online, but based on the Being Babs special, she had a terrible falling out with her second ex-husband.
That would be the father of one of her two children, and the situation included accusations of kidnapping and more. Really serious stuff.
We wish both sisters luck, which they clearly need.

Snooki: One Hot "Yung Mommy" In New Music Video
She"s not a regular mom. She"s a cool, yung mom.
In her latest attempt to stay relevant, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi made a music video title, "Yung Mommy."
Polizzi reminisces about her days on Jersey Shore and how far she"s come since then. And by that, we mean getting knocked up by her then-boyfriend/now-husband Jionni LaValle.
"I used to be so wild; I was the life of the party. Now I"m all grown up so instead, they call me mommy," she raps.
"All these dudes were hopeless but then I met Jionni."
Life is full of surprises.
The video is actually kind of fun, and Polizzi does seem to be up for poking fun at herself. The music video features extras from Dance Moms (I made that up, but it"s a safe assumption), as well as the red solo cups that served as Shore"s staple stemware.
Polizzi also sings about "stretch marks," breastfeeding and "saggy nipples" as she dances in a leopard print bustier and black tutu.
Even the reality star herself told viewers that the video was made for a bit of a laugh.
"Hey guys, it’s Nicole—or should I say, Yung Mommy! LOL!" she wrote.
"The wait is finally over! Here it is—my music video for "Yung Mommy!" Don’t take it too seriously—it’s just meant to be fun and funny, so I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think in the comments below."
Polizzi has reiterated time and time again that the song is meant to be fun, and not a serious attempt at breaking into the record business.
"Here it is. My first music video," she posted to Instagram on July 27th,
"I"ve decided to be an ass and record a song about my life and being a mom and shoot this fun and hysterical music video to go along with it. I hope I win a Grammy for this one.
"YOUNG MOMMY, OUT."
It"s not the jam of the summer, but it could be the jam of late July?

North West Contours Her Face, Just Like Mommy!
Well, this is adorable!
Or kind of alarming, depending on how you look at it.
Little North West wants to look just like her mama, and everyone knows Kim Kardashian’s signature beauty trick is face contouring.
The reality star’s makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic shared the pic above of the two-year-old with contour makeup smeared all over her face.
“When #North steals your contour palette… omg,” he wrote in the caption.
I remember when I was little and got into my mom’s makeup. Pretty sure I was a lot older than two, but I think it’s something most daughters do eventually.
North likely sees her mom with this kind of war paint all over her mug on a daily basis, so figures it’s totes normal and something she should do, too.
Gotta make those cheekbones pop, amiright?
However, if you see your mom sitting in a makeup chair for a couple hours a day having a gazillion products applied to her face then emerging completely transformed in order to look presentable to the public… well, what message is that sending?
Of course, it’s possible North just thinks her mother is a professional clown.
(And she wouldn’t be too far off – Kim makes us laugh a helluva lot, too.)
The subject of kids wearing makeup has been a hot topic of late.
Earlier this month, Teen Mom OG star Farrah Abraham (aka The Worst Person in the World) came under fire for parading her daughter around in eye shadow, blush and lipstick.
Maybe playing around in your mom’s professional makeup artist’s cosmetics bag is relatively harmless.
But if North start taping up her breasts next year, well, then we’ll really be worried.

Newborn Son Helps Daddy Propose to Mommy
Sorry, all other boyfriends around the world. You can stop trying to come up with the best marriage proposal ever now.
Because Michael Miles has officially earned this honor for all of eternity.
In the following piece of moving footage, we see a nurse hand Triston Lowery her newborn son, born mere hours earlier.
But the very young man has since undergone an outfit change, and he"s now rocking a onesie that reads "Will you marry my daddy?"
Enter Daddy himself, who pulls out an engagement ring and who turns his family"s special day into a REALLY special day.
