"Jersey Shore" Cast Shows Up to Support The Situation for Tax Evasion Sentencing

It’s D-Day for Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino – who just arrived at federal court in Newark, NJ to find out if he’s going to prison for evading his taxes — and he’s got the whole ‘Jersey Shore’ crew with him. The ‘Jersey Shore’ star is…

Mike Sorrentino Prays For Leniency Ahead of Tax Fraud Sentencing

Tonight, millions of Americans will tune in to see their favorite gang of guidos return to their original stomping ground as Jersey Shore Family Vacation relocates to Seaside Heights.

And tomorrow morning, one of those hard-partying fist-pumpers will go before a judge and learn his fate.

Yes, as you may recall, Mike Sorrentino pled guilty to tax fraud back in January.

Under the terms of his plea deal, the Situation faces five years in prison and up to $ 250,000 in fines.

Sorrentino is due to be sentenced at 11:30 on Friday morning.

Legal experts who have followed the case say it’s unlikely that he’ll receive the full five year maximum — but he’ll almost certainly do some jail time.

Back in February of 2014, Mike and his brother Marc were indicted for failing to pay taxes on $ 8.9 million in earnings.

They were accused of covering up their crimes by filing false tax returns in connection to Mike’s business ventures.

Mike was hit with additional charges of tax evasion and structuring funds to avoid currency transaction reports in April of 2017.

He pled guilty to one such charge as part of his plea deal, with the understanding that doing so would likely land him behind bars.

Needless to say, Sorrentino has quite a bit working against him.

But there’s also a lot that might help him in the eyes of a sentencing judge.

Mike entered rehab and got sober back in 2015, and he got engaged to Lauren Pesce in April.

The Sitch has been on his best behavior on the current season of Shore, and you can bet his lawyers will remind the judge of the many ways in which he’s turned his life around.

In the days leading up to his sentencing Mike, has celebrated his sobriety and prayed for a beneficial resolution to his legal woes.

“God grant me the serenity to stop beating myself up for not doing things perfectly,” Sorrentino tweeted this week.

Sorrentino is due to marry Pesce in November, but no matter what happens tomorrow, he won’t immediately be taken into custody, so prison shouldn’t interfere with those plans.

Our thoughts go out to Mike and his family during this intensely stressful time.

Abby Lee Miller Reacts to Prison Sentencing; She Said WHAT?!?

Abby Lee Miller may be going to prison.

But she isn’t going quietly.

The former Dance Moms host was sentenced to a year in prison on Tuesday, just under a year since she pleaded guilty to hiding $ 755,000 from the government as part of a bankruptcy scheme.

According to various sources, Miller took the stand at her sentencing hearing and broke down in tears while trying to convince a judge to take it easy on her.

She blamed her sudden rise to fame for her poor decision-making and said she had already learned some hard lessons, but the judge wasn’t overly sympathetic.

“You weren’t truthful, even when you knew you were supposed to tell everything, you still weren’t truthful,” she told Miller, adding:

“Somehow you got caught up in the world of fame and you lost your moral compass.”

As a result, Miller will be forced to pay a fine of $ 40,000; spend the aforementioned year behind bars; and then remain on supervised release for two years afterward.

It could have been worse, however:

She could have been sentenced to FIVE years in jail and been forced to pay $ 5 million in fines.

Shortly after her fate was revealed in court, Miller spoke to Entertainment Tonight and other news outlets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“I feel relieved,” she told reporters outside the courthouse. “I feel peaceful.”

Relieved?!? At peace?!? How so, considering what lies ahead of her?

Partly because Miller once again said she’s “pitching a new show” already, likely one that will chronicle her post-Dance Moms journey and her time in the clink.

“I have been so very successful – maybe that’ll be some time to work,” Miller confusingly said, adding of this proposed series: “There’s dancing in it!”

We wonder: Will there also be toilet scrubbing in it? Or cafeteria duty? Or prison yard clean-up?

Miller sounds aware that she’ll learn about all these things as an inmate, but she’s trying to remain positive.

“There’s a few physical limitations, dietary limitations [in prison], of course, but it’ll be OK,” she said.

“It’s a realm of the world I know nothing about. I just know what I know and I do the best I can…

“I know that I didn’t make the right decisions all the time. I think [the punishment’s] just begun.”

It has, but we’ve also been here before.

Teresa Giudice went to jail for several months for a similar financial crime. She was then freed… and immediately signed a huge new contract with Bravo to be featured on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Sadly, Miller will likely profit off this sentencing in the end.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Miller said her life advice for others would be to simply “live and learn,” while she said the following in court:

I am very sorry for what I’ve done and the inconvenience I’ve caused others.

My friends and colleagues have shed tears because of my careless mistakes. I have accepted responsibility for my actions and pled guilty to the two charges against me.

My name has been dragged through the mud and Abby Dance Company no longer exists in the very building that I was trying to save and I know that my future is uncertain.

I can only assure you that I will never be in front of a court again.

Miller, of course, resigned her post as Dance Moms host several weeks ago.

Lifetime then announced that Cheryl Burke will take over in this role for the remainder of Season 8.

In the wake of Miller’s sentencing, a few Dance Moms stars took to social media and wished her well.

Elliana Walmsley: “I love you Miss Abby. I wouldn’t be where I am without you. You have taught me so much about dance and life. Look how I can bevel now and ‘break’ my feet.

“You mean SO much to me and I will always be there for you.”

Maesi Caes: Sending so many powerful, positive vibes, HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEE hugs, LOTS of love and prayers of strength across the miles to @therealabbylee for my #maesismotivationalmonda.

“Sometimes the strength within you is not a big, fiery flame for all to see. It’s just a tiny spark that whispers ‘YOU GOT THIS."”

Kamryn Beck: “Don’t believe everything you see on t.v. You’ll be in my prayers @therealabbylee. love you.”

Abby Lee Miller Leaving Country Before Sentencing: Find Out Why!

Abby Lee Miller has been given the green light to travel internationally days before her sentencing.

The Dance Moms star could spend as much as 30 months in the slammer after pleading guilty to hiding a lofty sum of money following a 2010 Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing.

In addition to that, she admitted to not reporting $ 120,000 in Australian currency she brought into the country.

The latest trips for Abby will be to the United Kingdom, where she has appearances scheduled in London and Newcastle.

In her defense, Abby has been traveling pretty much all the time since she was hauled in for questioning in October 2010.

The court documents People obtained confirmed there is no risk of Abby not returning for her sentencing.

“Ms. Miller has appeared before the Court when required. Ms. Miller is not a flight risk,” reads the filing.

“There is no risk of Ms. Miller intentionally not returning for the second portion of hearing on February 24, 2017.”

She’s clearly trying to keep the Dance Moms brand flourishing until she inevitably goes to prison.

If you watch Dance Moms online, you will know Abby has broken down several times about her legal troubles.

Some of the mothers on the show have even poked fun at them because of the way Abby treats the girls.

It was recently revealed that Abby’s legal woes begun long before the Lifetime reality series premiered.

“Before the show, we’d be [at the studio] on a Saturday afternoon and sheriffs would come and post notices saying they were going to shut the studio down for unpaid taxes,” a source revealed to People.

Apparently, the community even rallied around her to help her out of her monetary issues.

However, it was also revealed by the same source that Abby would favor the people who gave her money and lavish gifts.

That’s not the best way to run a business. Right?!

What do you think about all of this?

Abby Lee Miller: Sentencing Delayed!

Abby Lee Miller’s sentencing will be dragged out a little longer.

The Dance Moms star pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud in June, but it seems like she’s doing everything in her power to evade going to jail.

Abby was meant to remain in the country, but she managed to cut a deal to on multiple vacations before her sentencing.

Yes, she went on at least TEN getaways this summer. Maybe she knows she could be going away for a long time.

There were some reports saying she could spend 24-30 months behind bars, but her attorneys are trying to find a way for Miller to spend just six months inside.

Abby will probably be struggling to adjust to the fact that she’s going away.

Being a prominent reality TV star, it probably makes her even more nervous.

Things will either go really well on the inside, or really bad.

That’s even if she gets time in jail.

If she somehow manages to escape jail, the below GIF would probably sum up her reaction.

The star will be recognized by other inmates, but she might only serve a fraction of her sentence.

That seems to be the craze with celebrities when they get sent down.

Her sentencing was meant to take place on October 11, but it has now been delayed all the way to December 2.

There’s a good chance there will be more delays down the line.

It’s delay after delay with this case.

It’s getting a bit ridiculous that it’s still ongoing.

If you watch Dance Moms online, you’ll know that Abby is not known for being the nicest person.

She’s very brutal with her feedback and it has caused multiple arguments throughout the show.

We have no idea what the heck Lifetime are going to do if Abby really goes to jail.

The network will be worried that they’ll lose one of their top shows.

If her stint in the slammer is short, they could use the prison stay as a storyline on the show.

It would be a ratings bonanza for the network that has so few hits.

Granted, it would take away from the current formula of the show.

Miller took to Twitter earlier this week to promote the new season of her reality show.

She also made it clear she didn’t get to see the show until it aired.

Abby Lee Miller Tweet

It’s hard to imagine Abby not having a lot of input into the editing process.

Then again, she isn’t exactly perceived in the best light.

If there was no drama, there would be no show.

Abby arguing with the moms on the show has got to be the best part.

She really has no filter when people talk smack about her.

What do you think will happen?

Abby Lee Miller: How Many Getaways Does She Have Planned Before Sentencing?

How long will Abby Lee Miller spend in jail?

That’s a question that has got the internet talking.

The Dance Moms star pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud on June 27 and is expected to be sentenced on October 11.

It’s unclear just how long she will spend in the slammer, but there is word that it could be 24-30 months.

There are also reports that her attorneys are trying to get the star a maximum of six months inside.

That’s not a whole lot of time. Right?!

You’d think that hiding income and concealing assets would secure a longer stretch inside than six months.

Now, it appears that Miller has come to terms with the fact that she will go to jail.

Her plan in the meantime is clearly to make every day matter before she goes.

There’s now word that she will go on TEN getaways this summer.

Does she think she’s going away for five years, or something?

Ten is a huge number of getaways for anyone, but it’s unclear just how much of these will be for work.

The getaways are all within the United States, so it’s not as if they’re long haul.

Abby’s fate on Dance Moms is still very much up in the air at this stage.

Will she continue with the show, or will she move on when she gets out of prison?

If you watch Dance Moms online, you probably already know that Abby had a lot of controversial scenes this year.

What do you think about her getaways?

Mike Golic GOES OFF on Brock Turner Sentencing

Mike Golic just said what everyone has been thinking when it comes to Brock Turner.

On his podcast yesterday, the former professional football player and current ESPN radio host took a few minutes to address the sexual assault case that has been sweeping the nation.

For those unaware:

Turner was convicted last week on three felony counts of sexual assault.

A jury found him guilty of digitally raping an unconscious woman outside of a party in January 2015, an incident that only ended because Turner ran away after he was caught near a dumpster by two Stanford graduate students.

The case has gone viral because Judge Aaron Persky only sentenced Turner to six months in country jail.

In a statement explaining why, Persky said he feared any harsher punishment would have a negative “impact” on Turner, a former top swimmer at Stanford.

In response, Turner’s victim read a letter in court that detailed the horrific ways in which Turner’s assault has changed her life in the past 18 months.

Turner’s father also released a grotesque statement that downplayed his son’s heinous actions and argued that Turner did not deserve any jail time.

On air on Tuesday, Golic went through the convictions that, according sentencing guidelines, could have landed predators such as Turner in state jail for 14 years. They were:

  • Intent to commit rape.

  • Penetration of an unconscious person.

  • Penetration of an unconscious person with a foreign object.

“You read that and you’re disgusted,” Golic said. “Convicted – he was convicted of that.”

Despite prosecutors recommending six years in state prison, Judge Persky (who was also a Stanford athlete) decided to give Turner just six months behind (county) bars because he felt “a prison sentence would have a severe of impact on him, and I don’t think he’ll be a danger to others.”

“Oh do ya?” Golic screamed.

When it came to Turner’s father, meanwhile, and his statement that his son hasn’t been eating or sleeping well since the assault, Golic really went off.

“Sorry Brock that you don’t sleep well after assaulting this woman,” he said. “How is she doing? What about this woman?”

In conclusion, the ESPN personality said what any sane person has been thinking for days:

“Does Brock’s father or this judge understand that a woman was assaulted in this? At all?.

“It blows my mind, some of the things that go on.”
