Counting On: Canceled By TLC ... Thanks to Derick Dillard?!
Counting On aired its most recent season finale last month, but the TLC series’ future – and the Duggar family’s – is very much up in the air.
Rumors of Counting On being canceled by TLC were fueled by the network deleting a post announcing the show’s renewal for Season 7.
Never a good sign … but is there anything to it?
Fans surely recall that in 2015, 19 Kids and Counting was canceled on the heels of the Josh Duggar molestation and adultery scandals.
Despite that fall from grace, the network repackaged it as Jill and Jessa Duggar: Counting On, not featuring Josh, less than one year later.
The controversial spinoff, later shortened to just Counting On, has chugged along ever since, despite being on thin ice ratings-wise.
Ironically, or perhaps fittingly, ridding the series of Josh Duggar hasn’t made the viewing experience as vanilla as executives might like.
That’s because a new “villain” of sorts has stepped in to take his polarizing place, and one that no one would’ve expected a few years back:
Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard.
Forget about what you see on the air; Derick’s controversial posts and comments on social media may be tearing the Duggars apart.
Things have gotten so bad in recent months that Dillard’s absence from the family’s Facebook page can’t be an accident or coincidence.
The crazy part is how deliberate he is; Duggar family members are all under a microscope, but he goes out of his way to stir the pot online.
Derick sparked controversy online by bashing TLC star Jazz Jennings as an “oxymoron” and saying that being “transgender” is a myth.
While he defends this as freedom of speech instead of bigotry, he doesn’t exactly pass up a chance to publicly share his divisive views.
The question is whether he – and more significantly, his giant family of in-laws – will pay a heavy price for this recurring behavior pattern.
Reports of Derick Dillard cheating on Jill Duggar are likely untrue, but the fact that he’s become a magnet for gossip speaks volumes.
Slowly but surely, he may be sinking this ship.
Counting On began with a smaller audience than 19 Kids, and what remained of the viewership then began to steadily decline further.
The Duggars have managed to stay afloat for two years under those circumstances, but how much more heat can the family endure?
Gossip about the Duggars’ imminent demise isn’t new, in large part because a growing chorus of critics would love to see that day come.
Given the dark cloud that will always linger over the reality series, how long with TLC conclude that it’s worth keeping this on the air?
With Derick emerging as a figure that Duggar detractors hate with a passion, they’re hardly shoring up the support they need at this stage.
If we had to venture guess?
We’d say TLC hasn’t made up its mind one way or another, and is having a lot of internal discussions about the direction they’re going in.
Perhaps the powers that be are waiting to see if any better show ideas come along before rolling the dice on another year of Duggar.
Or they are fully prepared to bring Counting On back but are taking an offseason break from hyping it up in light of recent controversies.
It’s also possible that the show returns with Derick getting the Josh Duggar treatment … sun glare and kids in front of face included.

Khloe Kardashian Thanks God... Confirms Baby on Board?
Khloe Kardashian has apparently found religion.
The reality star has shared a new Instagram message and photo in which she praises The Big Man Upstairs and, as some may interpret it, confirms that she’s with child.
Along with the heart-themed picture above, Khloe wrote the following late this week:
Lord, Thank You for giving me the health and strength I need to overcome every stronghold in my life and for loving me unconditionally in the times that I may fail you. Amen
Khloe has always been among the more open and honest members of her family.
She’s discussed her difficulties conceiving in the past and also been candid about her struggles with weight gain.
But this post still represents something new.
We can’t think of the last time Khloe cited religion and/or God in such an overt manner.
It’s therefore hard not to imagine that this is a veiled reference to the fact that Kardashian is pregnant with her first baby.
It would certainly make sense for Khloe to express gratitude toward God under such a circumstance.
Not only did she try and fail to get pregnant for many years while married to Lamar Odom… she then had to deal with his drug abuse and infidelity and the couple’s subsequent divorce.
Meanwhile, sister Kim Kardashian was happily married with two kids.
Kendall Jenner was a successful model,
Kylie Jenner (who is also somehow pregnant) started a wildly successful beauty empire.
All the while, Khloe was doing just fine for herself, of course. But she may very well have wondered when she would catch her major break.
It’s clearly now come in the form of a loyal boyfriend named Tristan Thompson and a tiny boy or a girl in her womb.
Granted, neither Khloe nor Thompson has actually confirmed this piece of exciting news just yet.
However, nearly every reliable celebrity gossip and news outlet has reported on it, without anyone in the Kardashian family coming out and shooting the rumor down.
Thompson and Kardashian also shared THIS CUTE PHOTO mere days after the story broke, which we read as an admission they are as happy as two expecting parents can be.
But if you didn’t believe the pregnancy scoop before, you almost have to now, right?
Following this faith-based Instagram message from the very likely mother-to-be?
“There is no jealousy here,” a source close to the family told People Magazine of Kylie being pregnant, Khloe being pregnant AND Kim expecting a child via surrogate.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Thanks Fans for Support, Has Coolest Son Ever
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has the love and support of Hollywood, her fans and, most adorably of all, her son.
On Thursday, the record-breaking Emmy Award winner shocked the entertainment industry when she confirmed she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The beloved star learned of this illness the day after she won yet another Lead Actress in a Comedy trophy for her hilarious role on Veep.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” Dreyfus wrote on Twitter, adding a plug for universal health care to her stunning admission:
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.
“The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
Dreyfus husband Brad Hall have two sons together, one of whom shared a precious tribute to his famous mother one day after the world learned of her diagnosis.
“I couldn’t be more thankful for the outpouring of support for my mom yesterday,” Tweeted Henry Hall, along with a throwback photo that he pretended was taken last year.
“Love to you all,” he concluded.
Responded Dreyfus:
“I’m thankful, too. And also thankful for my dear boy with good manners.”
Sort of wants to make you melt into a million pieces right there on the spot, doesn’t it?
It hasn’t just been her immediate family members who has reached out to Dreyfus, of course.
You’d be hard pressed to find a more respected television actress in Hollywood.
“@OfficialJLD so sorry you have to go thru this, pal, but I know you will prevail. We are here if/when you need and we love you,” Tweeted Jason Alexander, who co-starred for years opposite Dreyfus on Seinfeld.
The legendary actress also received social media support from her Veep cast members Timothy Simons and Diedrich Bader, who play Jonah Ryan and Bill Ericsson, respectively.
“All our prayers for a complete recovery If love is any help at all, know that you are truly loved,” Bader tweeted.
And Simons:
“Julia is one of the most talented, most giving, most empathetic people that I’ve had the pleasure to meet. That she takes this news and turns it to help others is of no surprise. Get well, Boss. We love you.”
Then there was former Vice President Joe Biden, whose real job Dreyfus has pretended to have on HBO for the past six years.
“We Veeps stick together. Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia,” Biden wrote, along with a photograph of himself and the actress in sunglasses.
Robin Roberts, meanwhile, is one of several celebrities who have overcome her own breast cancer diagnosis. This is what she wrote in response to the news:

Serena Williams: Thanks Mother, Slams Body-Shamers in Open Letter
On the first of September, Serena Williams gave birth to her first child — baby Alexis Olympia.
We’re confident that she’ll be as extraordinary as a parent as she is in every other aspect of her life, but Serena is clearly not so confident. Not yet.
To express her appreciation, Serena is thanking her mother for the amazing job that she did raising five children — and Serena’s taking the opportunity to slam her body-shamers.
In a post to Reddit, a site co-founded by her fiance and the father of her child, Serena Williams penned a beautiful open letter to her mother, Oracene Price.
Serena took a few swings at body-shamers, too.
“You are one of the strongest women I know. I was looking at my daughter (OMG, yes, I have a daughter) and she has my arms and legs!”
We love that, even as she writes this, Serena Williams can’t contain her excitement at being a mother.
“My exact same strong, muscular, powerful, sensational arms and body.”
That’s such a great description for Serena’s form.
But then it gets sad.
“I don’t know how I would react if she has to go through what I’ve gone through since I was a 15 year old and even to this day.”
Oh.
It’s not a surprise to us — we’ve heard the hateful things said about the greatest athlete in the world.
But it’s soul-crushing to hear Serena talk about it, especially in this context:
The context of being a mother who is thinking about what sort of life her daughter will lead.
“I’ve been called man because I appeared outwardly strong. It has been said that that I use drugs (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage).”
Plenty of athletes use performance-enhancing drugs, but we’d never accuse Serena of it. It’s just not like her.
“It has been said I don’t belong in Women’s sports — that I belong in Men’s — because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it).”
Sexism means that people degrade women by calling them men and degrade men by calling them women.
“But mom, I’m not sure how you did not go off on every single reporter, person, announcer and quite frankly, hater, who was too ignorant to understand the power of a black woman.”
When we talk about the hate that Serena has faced, we cannot pretend that it’s only about sexism.
Racism is also a tremendous factor.
But a lot of people are seemingly fine seeing a black man succeed in the world of sports, but shun a female athlete.
In terms of racism and sexism, Serena has faced the worst of both worlds — for all of her life.
“I am proud we were able to show them what some women look like. We don’t all look the same. We are curvy, strong, muscular, tall, small, just to name a few, and all the same: we are women and proud!”
She’s standing up for all women here. Because she’s wonderful.
And she’s clearly filled with love for her mother.
“You are so classy, I only wish I could take your lead. I am trying, though, and God is not done with me yet. I have a LONG way to go, but thank you.”
Hey, life is a journey. And we’ve already heard that Serena Williams is going to make a great mom.
“Thank you for being the role model I needed to endure all the hardships that I now regard as a challenges — ones that I enjoy. I hope to teach my baby Alexis Olympia the same, and have the same fortitude you have had.”
We’re sure that she will.
“Promise me, Mom, that you will continue to help. I’m not sure if I am as meek and strong as you are yet. I hope to get there one day. I love you dearly.”
She signs it:
“Your youngest of five, Serena.”
We know that a lot of this is going to resonate with a lot of people in different ways.
New parents who aren’t sure what they’re doing. Kids who aren’t sure how their parents did it. Women. Black women, in particular. Female athletes.
Serena Williams is an inspiration, on and off the court.

Jeremy Roloff Thanks Audrey Roloff"s Mom ... But Where is Amy Roloff?
Audrey and Jeremy Roloff welcomed their baby girl into this world on Sunday, September 10th.
Since then, we’ve had a few updates about how Audrey and the adorable baby, Ember Jean, are doing.
But while we’ve learned that Audrey’s mom is helping out, there’s been zero mention of Jeremy’s mother, Amy. And that has some fans concerned.
Ember Jean is 8 days old!
Audrey’s pregnancy seemed to last forever — and it did last beyond Audrey Roloff’s due date.
That’s not so unusual, though. Due dates are the results of very educated guesses, but each person and each pregnancy can vary significantly.
But we’re obviously so excited that the Roloff family has this precious new addition!
Not to mention that a lot of fans and viewers are hoping to see plenty of Ember on Little People, Big World.
Jeremy Roloff took to his Instagram story to reveal that his mother-in-law has been pitching in to help out.
We know that Audrey has been exhausted after giving birth and, since then, pretty much constantly feeding Ember.
(That’s pretty normal — some babies feed every hour or every other hour, day and night, for weeks on end)
So it’s fantastic that her mother can lend some assistance.
“So Audrey’s mom came over for a little bit to help, which has been just amazing. So I’m gonna run to the store and do our little list of errands, stock up on some stuff.”
First of all, it’s always great to see people crushing the stereotype of not getting along with their in-laws.
(Seriously, they’re your family and you presumably met them before getting married — if your spouse likes their parents, please don’t have an adversarial attitude about them)
Second of all, though, that help must be very welcome.
Obviously, the couple — who usually don’t balk at sharing anything and everything about their lives with social media — hasn’t been able to give updates as frequently as before.
They’re busy. Having a newborn is a lot of work.
(Having a baby of any age is constant work, actually)
But there’s been something missing from Jeremy and Audrey’s updates.
Or someone missing, we should say:
Amy Roloff.
This is Amy’s second grandchild.
Haters have slammed Amy Roloff for not posting photos with baby Ember (and for posting sponsored content instead), especially after she has posted so many pics with grandbaby Jackson.
A lot of fans are wondering what’s going on.
It could be that Amy hasn’t seen her granddaughter … which would be a huge difference from her hands-on grandmothering with Jackson.
And, as fans speculate, that could be a problem that the couple has with Amy … or some sort of inexplicable disinterest on Amy’s part.
But let’s consider other possibilities,okay?
One is that, maybe, Jeremy and Audrey have asked that only they share photos of Ember initially.
(Note that we don’t have any close-ups of Ember yet — some parents wait a while for things like a newborn’s coloring to clear up before sharing pics)
So it’s entirely possible that Amy, who has posted her happiness about Ember’s birth and congratulated her son and daughter-in-law in a public post, has photos but is respecting their wishes and not sharing them yet.
Maybe Jeremy only got a chance to share that his mother-in-law was helping out while running errands and hasn’t had a chance to give his mom a shout-out because he’s had his hands full.
So … let’s not speculate too wildly, okay? There are plenty of possibilities.
