These days, it seems everyone has a strong opinion about the Duggars.
The Internet is just about evenly split, with some folks saying the family never should’ve been allowed back on television following the Josh Duggar sex scandals, and others insisting that the Duggars are TV’s last representatives of old-school values like piety, chastity and horrendous hair.
Just kidding, Duggars! Kinda…
Anyway, one thing we call all agree on is that in recent weeks, the Duggars have been critics have gone too far in terms of blasting every move made by the younger generation (particularly the women).
First it was attacking Jessa for posting “immodest” baby photos.
Then it was Jinger for allegedly putting her nephew at risk by not using the proper car restraints.
Now it’s Joy-Anna…for her makeup?
The above photo was posted on the Duggars official Facebook page yesterday, and a surprising number of fans were critical of Joy-Anna’s appearance.
“I’m sorry, but the older girls wear way too much eye liner. Their eyes are more beautiful with less,” wrote one user.
“I love this family and these girls are beautiful but some of the people on here are right, they definitely need to wear less eyeliner. All the older girls have some weird obsession with their heavy eyeliners,” wrote another.
Sadly, there were several more comments to that effect.
When we poked fun at the Duggars’ hair, it was a joke, similar to one we’d lob at the Kardashians or any other public figures.
But actually attacking a young woman for her appearance (Joy-Anna is 18, by the way.) is wrong even if you don’t agree with what her family stands for.
The weird thing is, most of the critical commenters appeared to be fans of the Duggars!
The whole thing is confusing, but one tne thing is for sure – this family provokes some strong rwactions from people of all stripes.
Some of those reactions are warranted…others are utter nonsense.
