Drew Barrymore: Headed to Rehab For Alcoholism?!

Before she embarked on one of Hollywood’s most monumental comebacks, Drew Barrymore’s name was synonymous with the dangers of childhood stardom.

Barrymore checked into rehab for the first time when she was 13 years old after first experimenting with hard drugs when she was only nine.

It would take a second round of in-patient care for Barrymore to get sober for good, but by the time she was 14, the actress had kicked the habits that could have claimed her young life.

One might think that after struggling mightily and finally getting clean at such a young age, Barrymore would steer clear of intoxicants for life.

But many former addicts can attest to the power of the complacency that often accompanies especially long periods of sobriety.

Alcoholics, in particular, are said to be vulnerable to the false sense of security that comes with several years off the sauce.

They might look at family and friends enjoying a drink socially and believe that they’re capable of doing the same.

In many cases, they might be right.

More often, however, the situation ends in disaster … and friends of Drew’s believe she’s in the process of learning that lesson the hard way.

According to Life & Style, friends of the actress were shocked to see her exhibiting signs of intoxication during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

Cohen often drinks with his guests, and Drew has her own brand of wine, so there was nothing terribly surprising about her decision to enjoy a glass while on the show.

But Barrymore’s alleged slurring and out-of-character behavior.

“They’re very concerned about Drew,” a source tells tabloid.

“They fear it’s only a matter of time before she crashes and burns.”

The insider says Drew’s friends have already staged an informal intervention in hopes of convincing the actress to seek help”

“The bottom line is that Drew’s an alcoholic and she’s drinking again,” the source continues. “She’s not hiding it.”

The insider adds that Barrymore’s inner circle has implored her to “rein it in before she hits rock bottom again.”

Here’s hoping Drew is able to find whatever sort of help she needs.

Jimmy Fallon Addresses Alcoholism Rumors: I"m Not Drunk Every Night!

For years now, rumors about Jimmy Fallon’s alleged drinking problem have been circulating online and in the tabloid media.

The speculation was spurred by numerous witnesses who gave accounts of Fallon frequently getting “very drunk” at NYC bars after completing filming on The Tonight Show.

There were even reports that Fallon’s bosses at NBC were concerned about his hard-partying ways.

Now, Fallon is finally speaking out about the controversies that have plagued his squeaky-clean nice guy image in a candid interview with The New York Times.

While Fallon’s comments about tousling Donald Trump’s hair in a much-derided pre-election interview have attracted the most attention on social media, the 42-year-old comic also made some surprising revelations about his fondness for the sauce.

Asked about a New York Post piece that described him as “out of control” and attributed Fallon’s recent injuries to drunken accidents, the host shrugged off the accusations – but tellingly did not deny that he’s a heavy drinker.

“I could never do a day-to-day job if I was drinking every night,” Fallon insisted.

He went on to claim that the rumors about his drinking are part of an effort to further demoralize him during his current career slump.

“That’s just kicking you when you’re down,” he told the newspaper.

After years of late night dominance, Fallon’s show has now fallen to second place in the ratings behind the much more politically-charged Late Night with Stephen Colbert.

Industry analysts believe Fallon’s young, mostly left-leaning audience felt alienated by his controversial Trump interview, but the amiable SNL alum says his intentions have been misinterpreted:

“I didn’t do it to humanize him,” Fallon said.

“I almost did it to minimize him. I didn’t think that would be a compliment: ‘He did the thing that we all wanted to do.’”

He added that becoming a frequent butt of jokes on social media has taken an unexpected emotional toll:

“I’m a people pleaser,” he continued.

“If there’s one bad thing on Twitter about me, it will make me upset. So, after this happened, I was devastated. I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just trying to have fun.”

As for the rumors of a feud between Fallon and Colbert, Jimmy insists that the hosts remain close friends and claims he’s never been one to worry about the ratings.

“We’re winning in something. People in the height requirement between 5-7 and 5-11, we’re No. 1, from 11:50 to 11:55,” he joked.

“I never, ever care. I’ll know when someone fires me.”

Carole Middleton: Battling Alcoholism, Humiliating Kate Middleton, Source Claims

Earlier this month, we reported that Carole Middleton got noticeably drunk while attending a rugby match at London’s Twickenham Stadium.

A single instance of Carole knocking back one pint too many is amusing. Unfortunately, sources are now claiming that it happens quite often and that Duchess Kate often cringes in embarrassment at her mother’s sloshed behavior.

“It seems to be happening a lot lately,” a source tells Star magazine.

“It’s a huge concern for Kate. She’ll hide her booze at her house, but mom just brings her own! Last Christmas, Carole had too much to drink and started telling totally inappropriate jokes.

“Kate was so humiliated that she finally had to drag her away. She told her mom if she doesn’t straighten up, she’ll be banned from all royal events.”

Of course, if Kate is really so concerned, she should probably stop quietly ushering her mom out of the room and start taking her to meetings.

We know Kate has two kids and a whole heap of royal obligations to work with, but certainly her siblings should have time to help their mum get off the sauce, right?

Pippa can’t keep a job, and James seems to devote most of his time to beard maintenance. Then again, those two might be a big of why Carole is getting snockered on a regular basis.
