Ami Brown Really Does Have Cancer, Discovery Channel Confirms

An executive at the Discovery Channel has a very simple and very pointed message for certain fans of Alaskan Bush People.

And that messages goes something like this:

FOR SHAME!

Speaking to Radar Online, the network’s Executive Vice President, Laurie Goldberg, opened up for the first time this week about Ami Brown’s cancer diagnosis.

She and her loved ones admitted in July of 2017 that the long-time reality star had been diagnosed with a very serious form of lung cancer and that her prognosis was grim at best.

Since then, various members of this famous family have kept fans apprised of Ami’s status on occasion, with the latest update being an extremely sad one:

Brown has reportedly returned to the hospital.

But this doesn’t mean all hope is lost, Goldberg says:

“She is going to L.A. for a routine three month check-up but is optimistic and surrounded by nothing but love,” she also told Radar.

In this same conversation with the aforementioned celebrity gossip website, Goldberg expressed consternation that anyone out there has been doubting Ami’s diagnosis.

Do these critics really think producers and/or the Browns themselves would lie about such a thing?

“Ami’s battle with cancer is very real,” Goldberg emphasis, taking those who disbelieve her to task and adding:

“It is just disgusting that anyone would say her cancer is not real or that it was created for the show.”

We can’t entirely fault viewers for having a few questions, of course.

Reality TV in general is known for conjuring up storylines, as Jacob Roloff very recently came out and explained in a book written by this Little People, Big World star.

But still.

We’re talking about cancer here and we would never for a second wonder whether Ami and her children were actually lying about such a serious illness.

“It’s in both lungs, in the middle and sides of the lungs,” Ami’s husband, Billy Brown, said last year.

He said the cancer had been labeled as stage 3B, which is very close to the worst possible diagnosis, and continued at the time:

“It hasn’t traveled to any other organs, but that’s what they’re saying is next. Any time we talk to anybody, it’s bad news.”

Alaskan Bush People will be returning for Season 8, however, and we hear that Ami may still be part of the cast.

“The fans will get to see her journey alongside the rest of the family on the upcoming season,” Goldberg previews, adding:

“There is definitely no drama between her and anyone in the family – they love her very much and would do anything for her.”

No premiere date for Season 8 has been announced just yet.

We’ll pass it along as soon as it’s confirmed…

… and we’ll continue to send Ami our best wishes.

Ami Brown: Returning to Hospital Amid New Cancer Battle

Last year, Alaskan Bush People family matriarch Ami Brown beat the odds — and her lung cancer. But, as we grimly noted at the time, she would need to remain vigilant.

Then, in March, fans feared that Ami’s cancer had returned. In April, Ami’s emergency hospitalization was confirmed.

Now, new details have emerged and fans are fearing the worst. But there’s hope.

RadarOnline reports that Discovery Executive Vice President Laurie Goldberg has confirmed Ami’s new cancer battle to them.

“Ami’s battle with cancer is very real.”

Ami has already undergone new treatments.

“Her chemo and radiation was tough, but she got through it and is recovering well.”

Just as she had to in the past, Ami has had to return to more comfortable and convenient surroundings so that she can live near a first-rate hospital and receive the care that she needs.

“She is going to L.A. for a routine three month check-up but is optimistic and surrounded by nothing but love.”

That is good to hear, all things considered.

Back in January, we mentioned that some fans who were amazed at Ami’s recovery started to doubt if Ami had ever really had cancer to begin with.

Goldberg does not mince words about that kind of hateful speculation.

“It is just disgusting that anyone would say her cancer is not real or that it was created for the show.”

We absolutely agree.

Asking questions is one thing. And it’s nothing short of amazing that she was able to fight back a cancer whose prognosis gave her an estimated 3% chance of survival.

But no, Ami did not stage having lung cancer and the agony of chemo and radiation therapies for a ratings bump.

We only wish that it were some fabrication. Cancer is very real.

Golberg reveals that, despite her health battle, Ami will be featured on Alaskan Bush People.

“The fans will get to see her journey alongside the rest of the family on the upcoming season.”

That will be great to see!

And something that fans won’t have to worry about is a season filled with interpersonal conflict.

“There is definitely no drama between her and anyone in the family.”

Thta makes sense.

“They love her very much and would do anything for her.”

The Brown family of course is rallying around Ami to support her during this difficult time.

Ami, in the mean time, is liking the family’s new situation.

Goldberg says:

“Right now Ami is so happy with the family’s move to Washington.”

We told you that Billy Brown made a large land purchase and has reportedly gotten on the bad side of a number of locals in the rural community in Washington State.

Ami herself apparently already knows how she wants to help them settle in to their spacious new home.

“She has so many big plans for their new home.”

It’s great that Ami is receiving proper medical care, is continuously surrounded by those whom she loves, and is making plans for the future.

These are all great things that can contribute to her once again kicking cancer to the curb.

We wish Ami the best in her latest health battle.

As we cautioned when the news that Ami was cancer free first broke, the odds of getting cancer (again) are higher for someone who has had and beaten cancer than they are for someone who has never had cancer.

It is our sincerest wish that Ami make a full recovery. For her sake and for her family’s.

Mackenzie McKee Gives Heartbreaking Update on Mother"s Cancer

Mackenzie McKee has some seriously tragic news for us this weekend.

Back in January, as you may recall, the Teen Mom 3 star announced that her mother, Angie Douthit, had been diagnosed with stage four brain and lung cancer.

The family started a GoFundMe account to help cover medical costs, and in the description for the fundraiser they explained that she had tumors that “cover almost the entire brain,” and that she had several masses in her lungs.

The diagnosis was especially shocking because Angie’s always been very healthy — she never smoked, she didn’t drink, she ran marathons.

Mackenzie said at the time that she’d went to the doctor because she thought she had bronchitis.

In the months since her diagnosis, Angie has been going strong.

She’s been giving some inspirational speeches and spending lots of time with family, judging by Mackenzie’s Instagram post.

But now, in another post, we have a new update on how she’s doing.

And unfortunately, it’s bad news.

“O mom, you are so amazing,” Mackenzie begins her post. “Idk how you are touching lives all around the world of people who have never met you but you are.”

“You have such a strong message to share and you are not scared to shout it to the rooftops.”

“You don’t deserve this, none of it,” she continues. “So happy, so healthy, and so faithful to God.”

“Stage four cancer in your lungs, in your brain, and now in your bones. And not once have you questioned Gods love for you.”

Yep, you read that right — now, in addition to the brain cancer and the lung cancer, Angie also has cancer in her bones.

Mackenzie goes on to explain that they just got the bad news a few days ago, and that this whole nightmare has been “exhausting and expensive.”

So to help with some of the costs, she’s asking her fans to consider purchasing one of her “fitness at home workout programs,” the workout and nutrition guides she sells on her site, Body by Mac

To her mother, Mac writes “One thing you wish people would do is to remain healthy and to #alwaysbekind. You helped me with my #bodybymac 3 month program and have always been my number one cheerleader through this all.”

And so this weekend, if you buy one of her programs, all that money “will go towards the cost of all travel expenses and medication because you’re so good and telling people to stop complaining, get off their butts, and get active.”

“So here is to donating and getting healthy at the same time.”

It’s definitely a sweet gesture, and it really seems like Mackenzie is doing everything in her power to help her mother right now.

Remember, although we know who she is and although she starred on an MTV show, Teen Mom 3 only got one season before it was canceled, and that was back in 2013.

We know that the moms’ salaries get increased every season, and that when the shows started out, they didn’t make too much at all, considering.

For reference, Briana DeJesus reportedly made $ 20,000 for her first season of Teen Mom 2, which isn’t a lot, considering the other moms brought in around $ 300,000.

Add in those three kids of hers, and there’s a good chance that Mackenzie doesn’t have any of her MTV money left, and that she’s trying to capitalize on the fame she has with her workout programs.

We can’t blame her for that, and if she’s also using that fame to try to get donations to help her mother?

We certainly can’t blame her for that either.

Honestly, Angie’s prognosis doesn’t sound good, but it’s clear that she’s still in good spirits, and that really is amazing.

So let’s all send our best wishes to this family, OK?

Abby Lee Miller Speaks Out After Cancer Diagnosis

Late last month, Abby Lee Miller was released from prison after eight and a half months behind bars, and moved to a halfway house.

Abby underwent treatment for what was believed to be an infection … and has unfortunately been diagnosed with cancer.

Now, she’s released a selfie from the hospital with a message for her supporters.

Early last week, Miller underwent emergency surgery over pain in her neck and increasing levels of paralysis in her extremeties.

At the time, it was believed to have been caused by an infection.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be more complicated than an infection, and will need more than antibiotics to treat.

The former Dance Moms star has cancer, specifically in the form of Burkitt lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that was first identified in the 1950s.

Now, for the first time since that diagnosis, she’s opening up with a statement.

And that statement accompanies a powerful selfie from her hospital bed.

In the captions beside this very vulnerable photo, Miller writes:

“So much gratitude and love for those who listened, those who looked deeper, and those who leapt into action.”

She doesn’t mention the cancer, but … she knows that we all know.

“So much more I wish I could say……about how quickly your life can change at the hands of others.”

She extends her thanks.

“Thanks for [the love].”

She spelled out that love with emojis, and then followed it with a number of tags.

“#abbyleemiller #abbylee #aldc #aldcla #aldcalways #dancemoms #iwilldance”

That caption is very raw and genuine and it really tugs at your heartstrings.

(If she were a Millennial, she probably would have written “I lived b–ch,” after the meme, and left it at that, but there’s probably no wrong way to post a selfie after you’ve undergone surgery)

The good news is that Burkitt lymphoma has a 90% survival rate.

The bad news is that the survival rate is said to be lower among adults, among whom this particular form of lymphoma is considerably less common.

That said, Abby Lee Miller is nothing if not a fighter.

She is expected to undergo both chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

This is actually the first glimpse that Abby Lee Miller has given the world of herself following her stint in prison, during which she apparently lost a great deal of weight.

(They weren’t starving her — she underwent weight loss surgery before going behind bars)

You can see how the shape of her face has changed, even though you can only see part of it.

All things considered, she looks great.

We wish that the photo had come under better circumstances.

No one, even controversial reality stars, deserves cancer.

As she undergoes treatment, one of the top priorities for Abby’s well-being will be that she remain hydrated.

Doctors are not yet certain whether her lymphoma has spread, as it is known to do.

The good news about Burkitt lymphoma, which is a fast-spreading cancer, is that it tends to respond more quickly to treatment than slow-spreading cancers.

We certainly hope that Miller will make a full recovery as soon as possible.

Abby Lee Miller Has Been Diagnosed with Cancer

A day after being rushed into surgery for what doctors believed to be an infection in her spine, Abby Lee Miller received an even more troubling diagnosis:

She has been diagnosed with cancer.

Specifically, the former Dance Moms host has been diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, which is a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

This is an illness in which cancer starts in one’s B-cells and it can be fatal if left untreated.

But there’s a 90% long-term survival rate for those who catch it and work with their physicians on a treatment plan.

Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Cedar Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital, confirmed this diagnosis to People Magazine.

He’s the same doctor who performed emergency surgery on Miller early Tuesday morning, tell the same publication that the star would have died without it.

He said at the time, however, that Miller’s temporary paralysis was due to an infection.

“It was not an infection, it was a type of a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – it’s a type of a cancer,” Dr. Melamed now explains, expounding as follows:

“We’re getting an oncologist involved and we have to figure out what the next steps are as far as chemotherapy or radiation or more spine surgery.

“Depending on the tumor type, depending on the sensitivity of the tumor – it just depends the type but I feel more than yes, she will undergo chemotherapy or radiation.”

Over the weekend, Miller went to the emergency room due to “excruciating neck pain” and weakness in her arm.

Melamed said her her condition deteriorated over the next couple days, prompting a CT scan and a multi-level laminectomy at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Miller is now able to move her arms, legs and toes as a result of the procedure.

“If we didn’t do something, she was going to die,” Dr. Melamed previously told People. “Her blood pressure was bottoming out. She was not doing well.”

The controversial reality star quit Dance Moms last March and then spent over eight months as an inmate at FCI Victorville prison in California.

She was sentenced to one year and one day in prison (followed by two years of supervised release) in May of 2017 after she pleaded guilty to the charge of concealing bankruptcy assets and to one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction.

Abby was also fined $ 40,000 and ordered to pay a $ 120,000 judgment.

“Sometimes in life you make mistakes,” Miller wrote on social media in January, adding:

“I trusted the wrong people and didn’t pay any attention to things I should of. I’m more than sorry for the mistakes I have made.

“My world flipped upside down when I had to enter prison. I did so with grace.”

Just a few weeks ago, Miller was transferred at the end of March to the Residential Reentry Center in Long Beach.

This is a facility that provides a structured and supervised environment and it’s where she’ll be given employment counseling, job placement and financial management assistance.

Via various statements and interviews, it’s been evident that Miller will try to sign on for another reality show of some kind after she is a fully free woman.

But now all plans, we presume, must be placed on hold while she takes care of her health.

We wish her the best.

Shannen Doherty Cancer Update: Has the Disease Returned?

As previously reported and celebrated, Shannen Doherty is done with chemotherapy.

But is the actress done with cancer?

As Doherty herself explained last October, the short and simple answer is unfortunately no.

Not really. Not ever.

“Those who have experienced it know that even after you’ve kicked it’s ass, it still impacts you, in good ways and bad,” Doherty said last fall, adding in her inspirational message:

“You still go thru the roller coaster of emotions. You still need support and love. And you can still grasp life and live, live live.”

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star really has shown such strength and grace throughout this challenging battle.

It will always continue in some way, Doherty has made clear in the past, but will Shannen need to truly take on cancer again in the near future?

Has the disease returned?

Doherty addressed this topic in her latest Instagram post, giving followers an update late Tuesday night.

“Test and results,” she wrote to open this caption, preparing fans for the latest news.

It’s not bad, per se, but sounds like it could be better:

“One Tumor marker test came back good. Other… elevated,” she wrote, explaining in more detail:

“Just means I get monitored and another test. But even after that call, I’m staying positive and taking stock of my life. It certainly helps put things in perspective and reminds you of what you learned thru the cancer journey.

“And I sometimes, need a refresher.”

Shannen Doherty has been open and brave throughout each step of her cancer diagnosis, as you can see above.

Doherty concluded her update with an emphasis on how cancer is never truly behind someone it has victimized.

But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t plan on remaining strong in the face of this illness.

“As I’ve said before, cancer changes your life in ways no one could ever imagine…..btw, the elevation can be from all sorts of things. Oh and vitamin D… need more of that too.”

She concluded her post with our new favorite hashtag:

#stillacancerslayer.

We love it.

We continue to wish the very best to Doherty and to other stars who have been diagnosed with this awful illness.

Ami Brown: Has Her Cancer Returned?

Alaskan Bush People star and family matriarch Ami Brown survived a devastating lung cancer ordeal and beat the odds.

Unfortunately, she’s now been spotted, looking unwell. Fans worry that her cancer has returned.

Are they right?

Early this year, Ami Brown revealed that her cancer went into remission in late 2017.

She reported that she was feeling better and that, thanks to her appetite’s return, she was gaining weight again and back over 100 pounds. That’s great news when you’re on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, this new report may show that she has suffered a major health setback.

RadarOnline reports that Ami Brown was spotted in a wheelchair on March 15th,

“She didn’t really talk,” the source revealed.

And the source made another observation:

“She looked pretty thin.”

All of that is deeply troubling to hear.

Ami is only in her fifties, so one wouldn’t necessarily expect for her to be confined to a wheelchair. But recovering from a serious and debilitating illness takes time.

Contrary to some reports, Ami Brown’s cancer wasn’t cured in a Christmas miracle. The remission, which happened before Thanksgiving, has been followed by health setbacks.

Cancer, even when defeated, can take a lot out of you.

But if Ami is in a wheelchair in March, some can’t help but wonder if she’s okay.

If Ami appears to be once again losing weight … some fans are terrified that her cancer has returned.

If Ami’s cancer has returned, there have been no direct revelations on social media.

Ami’s young daughter, Rain, has been acting as the family’s de facto spokesperson on social media despite being only 15.

(That’s a great age to be on social media, just … not an ideal age for someone to bear the burden of speaking for the family)

Rain’s recent posts have been of her feeding a horse, holding a dog, cheering on the March For Our Lives students,

However, one recent post — in which Rain thanks Gabe Brown’s mysterious girlfriend who is also her good friend for cheering her up — comes to mind.

Was Rain’s post about “melancholy” really about her mother’s cancer?

We actually don’t think that Rain was talking about that, because she singled out missing home as a major factor.

And according to this report, it sounds like Rain has good reason for not enjoying her time filming Alaskan Bush People in Washington State.

RadarOnline reports that the Brown family is hated in their new town.

“Omak is a small conservative town,” an indignant resident revealed.

The new neighbor of the Browns continues, and begins to sound like a stock character from a horror film set in a small town, saying:

“We’re not like Hollywood and we don’t like strangers running around.”

The whole point of Alaskan Bush People is that they film in the middle of nowhere, and it sounds like they’ve found just such a place, as this resident continues:

“We’re old school. We can’t tolerate having them in our town.”

After complaining that they’ve turned the town into a television set, the complaint continues:

““They’re guarded by the film crew. We’re all sick of the whole thing.”

So … it may be that Rain isn’t having a good time because she’s a 15-year-old girl who loves her family and hates being seen as an intrusive “Hollywood” outsider.

We kind of feel like, if Ami’s cancer has really returned, that would be at the forefront of Rain’s thoughts before homesickness.

But it’s possible that Rain has been instructed to not reveal or even hint at her mother’s renewed battle with cancer.

At the same time, however, it is possible that Ami became sick with something else, such as the flu, and had a particularly rough go of it.

We’re no oncologists, but it seems likely that the chemo and radiation therapy that Ami underwent might still, months later, have left her immune system somewhat compromised. That could make growing ill even more severe.

It’s not uncommon to feel tired out and even lose weight when you catch something like the flu.

For Ami’s sake and that of her entire family, let’s hope that this is the explanation.

Lari White Dies of Cancer; Country Singer Was 52

Lari White, a Grammy-winning country artist best known for such hits as “Now I Know” and “That’s My Baby,” died on Tuesday after a brief battle with cancer.

She was 52 years old.

The passing of White, who rose to fame after appearing on Jim Ed Brown’s “You Can Be a Star” talent show, was confirmed in a sad note left by her mother, Yvonne.

It reads as follows:

Last night all her Family-of-Origin circled round her bed, saying our goodbyes to Lari, loving her, praying, sending her messages of support and gratitude. Her Dad gave her his loving foot massage.

[Husband] Chuck and their three children joined with us, and it was such a comfort to all of us to be ‘Together Again’ around Lari.

Chuck and their children bathed her in the same love and care all night long they have given to her for four months. At 4:44 this morning, Lari peacefully took her ‘Rain Walk.’

A Florida native, White signed a recording contract with Capitol Nashville shortly after winning the aforementioned Brown-hosted reality program.

However, the singer was dropped from that label after releasing just one track.

She later became back-up singer for Rodney Crowell and then signed a new deal with RCA, which produced her hit 1993 album, “Lead Me Not.”

A year later, she released her second record and, along with it, her three biggest singles:

  • “That’s My Baby” hit number-10 on the Country Songs Billboard Chart.

  • “That’s How You Know (When You’re In Love)” accomplished this same feat.

  • And so did “Now I Know.”

White was also known being for a cast member in the 2006 Broadway musical “Ring of Fire.”

white

The musician revealed in November of last year that she had been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer.

Tragically, her condition quickly worsened from there.

On January 19, her mother announced that White had entered hospice care, writing at the time:

There is so much I could say about Lari, but multitudes of you have said it already.

God gave us a very special gift when he sent this incredible baby to a young, inexperienced…and frightened!…couple  …But in spite of this,  we loved her with all our hearts.

From the beginning, we knew that she was ‘something else’…wise and funny, intelligent and super-talented…so loving, kind and compassionate…with a heart as big as all of Heaven.

I have never known a person who did not love her and respect her, as evidenced by the great outpouring of love and concern of so many people.  Every role she has played in Life has been superb, and most of all, her role as Mother.

We are blessed to be her Family.  Chuck and their three children are blessed to have her as Wife and Mother. Thank you, God, for Lari!

In response to White’s passing, a number of artists expressed sorrow and sadness on Twitter.

To wit:

responses to White

White is survived by her husband, Nashville songwriter Chuck Cannon, and three children.

Funeral arrangements are pending

We send our condolences to the singer’s family and we hope she is resting in peace.

Ami Brown Reveals the Truth About Her Cancer

Alaskan Bush People star Ami Brown’s health has seemed to take a turn for the better.

Some fans wonder if her cancer was cured in a Christmas miracle. Others wonder if she ever really had cancer to begin with.

Ami Brown is speaking out directly, for the first time in a long time.

In a new interview with PeopleAmi Brown describes how her battle with cancer has come to, for now, a happy ending.

Of her meeting with her doctor, Ami says:

“I was expecting great news.”

That might make her the only one. Just a few months earlier, Billy Brown had described Ami’s condition as “grim.” And the couple’s youngest daughter, Rain Brown, admitted that she didn’t know if her mom would make it.

But it sounds like Ami knew her own body.

“I could just feel it.”

Ami reveals that “all signs” of the cancer that had spread through her lungs and her back had vanished.

Billy Brown notes that he wasn’t the only one surprised by the good news:

“The doctors were as shocked as we were.”

As you know, cancer treatments like the radiation and chemo that Ami experienced can be hell on the body. Ami found herself unable to eat

She had dropped to 77 pounds, which is a life-threatening weight for an adult.

We’re all happy to hear that Ami is back up to 104 pounds (she’s still tiny, folks), and is once again enjoying midnight snacks.

Ami admits that it’s not all rainbows and roses, or whatever. It’s just better.

“I’m still a little weak and tired and I get a little sickly, but I do some walking around the house now.”

Compared to how things were, though, she’s walking on sunshine.

“My last treatment was December 7 and it took about a month for the pain to go away. It was so bad and the radiation treatment hurt so badly.”

Fighting for your life is agonizing.

“To take a sip of water just hurt so bad and I couldn’t eat anything. It progressed in strength, the hurting.”

A major thing impacted what Ami’s diet.

“I went from [eating] ice cream and mashed potatoes and stuff to [eating] nothing at all. I’d like to develop a protein sucker for people.”

But she’s turned all of that around.

“But now I’m so hungry. I used to not be a big food person but now I am so appreciative of food.”

(Some folks spend every day in anticipation of their next meal, but for others, it’s just a thing that they do. We guess that the latter perspective lends itself better to living in the wilderness)

As for what food Ami is eating now?

“Chicken, salmon, meatloaf, rice, and enchiladas. It was so hard just to get to 80 lbs. and then 90, to actually get to 100 was incredible.”

But let’s be totally clear about this: her cancer is “gone” but remission is not a forever-cure. People who beat cancer face an increased chance of cancer returning.

Ami knows that.

“I have to go in every three months now for the rest of my life and be scanned to see if it’s back or not.”

Four times a year, every year, she’s going to be bracing for the worst possible news.

“It’s going to be a part of my life forever.”

Ami takes the opportunity to speak to her fans about how her faith was a source of comfort during this ordeal.

Like so many reality stars, Ami Brown is a Christian. She says:

“But I want to encourage people to enjoy every moment and walk every moment with God because he knows what it’s about.”

And she has a very succinct piece of advice:

“Never give up faith.”

Ami Brown: Did She Ever Really Have Cancer?

Sometimes, a small but vocal minority of viewers and “fans” can’t even take good news without trying to turn it into something that it isn’t.

And that seems to be what’s happening with Alaskan Bush People as they respond to updates on Ami Brown’s cancer battle.

The minute that she doesn’t look like she’s dying, some people have the audacity to question whether Ami ever really had cancer to begin with.

The Alaskan Bush People star and family matriarch Ami Brown has been battling lung cancer. Real, actual lung cancer.

Throughout this fight, even Ami’s own children haven’t been sure if their mom is going to make it.

Obviously, as reality stars with a long and successful career, the Brown family could afford the best kind of care. They even moved to a Beverly Hills mansion so that Ami could be near a hospital and could be comfortable while recovering.

Fans wanted Ami to recover, which is why a photo of Billy Brown ignited controversy when fans noticed that he was still proudly displaying his carton of cigarettes while his wife battles lung cancer.

With the Alaskan Bush People Christmas Special, fans and viewers learned some very good news: that Ami Brown was finished with treatment and her doctor declared that she was doing much better.

The non-fan page Alaskan Bush People Exposed shared this post:

“Ami Update: I’ve been seeing in a lot of other groups and articles that she is 100% cancer free.”

That’s not true. But there is wonderful news.

“I would like to set the record straight. Ami is officially in remission and for now chemo is over.”

That’s a huge — and pleasant — surprise for many fans who weren’t expecting good news.

Alaskan Bush People Exposed continues, writing:

“That doesn’t mean she lied about having cancer or faked having cancer.”

Obviously. It’s not that no one ever lies about this kind of thing, folks. But … clearly, Ami was not.

So, what’s Ami’s status?

“All it simply means is that she is in remission and will be monitored by her doctors very closely.”

Remission is not the same as being magically cured by a Christmas miracle, folks.

“Like most people dealing with cancer it is something that Ami will have to deal with for the rest of her life and to suggest anything else is irresponsible and utter nonsense.”

Ami will have to be vigilant for cancer to once again manifest for the rest of her life. Her chances of having cancer are 40% higher than that of someone who doesn’t have cancer.

Sometimes, people who’ve “beaten” cancer find that just a few months or years later, cancer returns. Sometimes, it’s worse the second time around.

As we already told you, Alaskan Bush People Exposed shared that Ami had a “setback” following the filming of the Christmas special:

“Shortly after Thanksgiving she suffered a brief setback and was very ill. She is doing better now and back on the mend.”

That may have simply been an illness, as the ravages of both chemo and cancer can leave someone susceptible to everyday ailments.

Of course, some people still have questions. One comment replying to Alaskan Bush People Exposed’s clarifying post reads:

“You have to go 5 years to be officially ‘cancer free’. As of right now she is in remission.”

This commenter finds all of this suspicious.

“I just don’t see how someone that is stage 4 was able to be cancer free so fast. Remember stage 4 means the cancer metastasized to other parts of the body.”

And then he writes:

“The 5 year survival rate is less then 10%. I’m glad she is doing well but it doesn’t add up.”

One, perhaps Ami Brown was lucky and beat the odds.

Two, perhaps Amy Brown is a reality star who can afford the best care.

Three, and we hate to mention this, but his “concerns” about the 5 years survival rate may be addressed if Ami Brown doesn’t make it to 2023.

Beating cancer doesn’t mean that she’ll live to be 80. Or 70. And maybe not even 60.

(Ami will turn 55 in August of this year)

Jill Zarin Loses Husband to Cancer, Releases Moving Statement

Bobby Zarin has lost his battle against cancer.

The husband of Real Housewives of New York City star Jill Zarin, Bobby passed away on Saturday while surrounded by family members and loved ones.

He was 71 years old.

In tribute to her late soulmate, Jill posted an official statement on her website on behalf of the family.

It reads as follows:

“With the heaviest of hearts, we are devastated to share the news that our beloved Bobby Zarin passed away peacefully today surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

“There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are. Thank you, everyone for all your love, and support during this difficult time.”

Along with this simple and sentimental message, the website included a photo of Bobby in a suit.

Here it is:

Bobby Zarin was initially diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2009.

He went on to have his thyroid removed, while also undergoing radioactive iodine treatment in an attempt to overcome the very serious illness.

“He’s in a better place now,” said friend and fellow Bravo personality Ramona Singer to E! News.

In July of 2015, Bobby spoke to People Magazine about the diagnosis and treatment.

“The radioactive iodine usually kills off whatever undetectable cancer cells are left in your body after surgery,” he explained at the time, adding:

“We thought it was cured – and it usually is in about 93 percent of cases. But I wasn’t able to absorb the radioactive iodine. So it came back.”

In emotional footage shared on her Instagram page back on December 3, Jill discussed how her husband was in the hospital and “was [doing] okay.”

But she clearly knew the end was sadly near.

“I’m just going to miss Bobby,” she said tearfully in this video. “I’m going to miss my life with him.”

Although the Real Housewives of New York City veteran tried to be optimistic throughout Bobby’s treatment, she said “his cancer took an unexpected turn” over the summer.

In July of last year, Bobby was admitted to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where he recovered from a procedure related to his disease.

“He is not going down without a fight,” Jill told People. “We’re hoping for a miracle.”

The couple was married for 17 years at the time of Bobby’s death.

In addition to Jill, Bobby is survived by his children – David Zarin, 41, Jennifer Zarin, 38, Jonathan Zarin, 35; along with 25-year-old stepdaughter Ally Shapiro.

A service for Bobby will be held at a Riverside Memorial at a yet-to-be determined date.

Our thoughts go out to Jill Zarin and all others affected by this tragedy.

May Bobby Zarin rest in peace.
