Fifty Shades Darker: Surprise, It"s Terrible!
Big day today, friends. Very big day.
After two long, agonizing years of waiting — though really, if you think about it, it’s been a lifetime — Fifty Shades Darker has finally made its way to movie theaters across this great land.
It feels good, doesn’t it? Like your soul is just a little more complete than it was yesterday.
There’s only one problem: according to reviews, it’s actually a pretty terrible movie.
It’s hard to swallow (that’s what she said), but the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey is apparently boring, dumb, and just so many other bad things.
To really get a feel for it, let’s dive into some of the worst reviews, all right?
As a review from Us Weekly puts it, “The pain is real.”
Sounds promising already, right?
“There are moments in Fifty Shades Darker when you might care more about Anastasia Steele’s lipstick shade than her tortured romance with cold billionaire Christian Grey.”
It’s not all bad though — on the bright side, this one “is more unintentionally hilarious than the original. In fact, some of the wooden line readings and melodramatic twists rank right up there with the gold standard of cinematic erotic camp.”
Yes. We’re getting comparisons to Showgirls here. This is real life.
A critic from Newsday says that Fifty Shades Darker is “the year’s first true cinematic travesty,” and that it “manages the neat trick of being more explicit yet less erotic and far goofier than 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey.”
Alas, “it might have been a hoot if its sexual politics and baseline morality weren’t so objectionable.”
How’s that for some real talk? And it is real talk — Christian is not so much into being dominant as he is into being a controlling, abusive creep.
Playlist says the movie is “as sexy and stimulating as laundry detergent,” and that it “somehow becomes even less enticing and rousing” than the original movie.
“Actively dull and astoundingly flaccid,” the review continues, “the monotonously dreary, everlasting humdrum BDSM fan fiction franchise can never decide if it’d rather be smutty or classy.”
“Never has unconventional sex seemed so f-cking boring.”
Amazing, right? And that one also serves as a delightful reminder that Fifty Shades of Grey began as Twilight fan fiction.
What a world, what a world.
But in less you’re thinking that the issues with this movie is with the story itself, or that the movie was just poorly made, please make no mistake: the actors were also awful.
As the Newark Star-Ledger puts it, “Dakota Johnson tries hard — or, at least harder than Jamie Dornan, who mostly acts with his stubble … For a movie about bondage, the stars seem strangely disconnected.”
USA Today sums everything up pretty well with this:
“There are a lot of negative things to be said about Fifty Shades Darker. But it does impress in one sense: The erotica lite sequel somehow manages to be worse than the stupefyingly bad Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Fifty Shades Darker Clip Drops, So Do Ana"s Pants
The first official clip from Fifty Shades Darker has dropped, and in it, Ana Steele"s underwear fittingly drops to the floor along with it.
In public, no less. Does that go without saying?
Titled "Date Night," the scene from the film is probably not representative of most of your recent date nights with your significant other.
If we"re wrong about that, well, we"re impressed.
After all, it"s not easy to keep things that hot – or whatever you call the act of taking off your underwear in a fancy restaurant after dinner.
Which is precisely what Jamie Dornan"s Christian Grey requests of his girlfriend, Dakota Johnson"s Ana, in the 50 Shades of Grey sequel.
"Take "em off," he instructs Anastasia.
"Right in here?" Steele asks.
"Right here," he responds.
Obviously, she complies:
Yep. Off they go.
That"s not the end of this sensual endeavor, either. As they leave the restaurant in a crowded elevator, Christian just can"t help himself.
Unable to manage his impulses despite being surrounded by others (seriously, elevator is packed), he reaches up Anastasia"s dress.
Perhaps the individuals surrounding them are all cyborgs, or half-asleep, because somehow no one else seems to notice this behavior.
Set to Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik"s song "I Don’t Wanna Live Forever," the two will make everyone sweat in their seats come February 10.
That"s when the film hits theaters, and if it"s at all like the first installment, it will be critically lampooned and hugely successful commercially.
Seems like a safe bet.

Fifty Shades Darker Trailer: So. Much. Boning.
The extended trailer for Fifty Shades Darker is here, having debuted during The Bachelor season premiere, and it is pretty spectacular.
If you like terrible acting and boning in public places.
The first Fifty Shades Darker trailer dropped in September, and now we have a longer look at the super sexy Valentine"s Day release.
As you"d expect, the movie looks beyond terrible, yet guaranteed to rake in a hundred million bucks on its opening weekend alone.
That"s just the way it is with EL James" masterpiece.
Jamie Dornan, sporting a little facial hair this time, continues to phone in his performance as billionaire S&M bad boy Christian Grey.
But hey, he looks good and does "damaged" well.
The trailer, set to the new Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik duet “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” sets the stage for a hot and crazy ass romp.
Kim Basinger makes her debut as the older woman who indoctrinated Christian into the BDSM lifestyle, and other threats are posed.
A violent stalker takes aim (literally) at Ana and Christian, while another would-be love interest attempts to steal her away from him.
Oh, and there is boning. Lots and lots of boning.
Often times, this takes place – or at least the foreplay, or precursor to the inevitable boning – in public places no one would ever suspect.
To quote Ana, this time: No rules, no secrets.
Only sex. Lots and lots and lots of sex.

Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik Go Fifty Shades Darker, Release Single
Based on an earlier release, we already knew that Zayn Malik was dirty and raw.
But who knew Taylor Swift was so into kinky sex?!?
The artist has stunned by fans by coming out with only new single of 2016, a collaborating with the former One Direction member that will be featured on the Fifth Shades Darker soundtrack.
It is titled "I Don"t Want to Live Forever."
The “Shake it Off’ singer shared a sneak peak of the track on Twitter Thursday night, with it playing over a racy trailer from the raunchy sequent…
… and it then didn"t take long for it to both hit iTunes and hit the number-one spot on that service"s list of downloaded songs.
"Holy motherf–king s–t!!! My boyfriend is a genius and he wrote the new single from Fifty Shades Darker with Sam Dew and my girl @taylorswift (who has never sounded more sultry)," Lena Dunham wrote online after the news broke.
"And then there"s @zayn blowing up my whole heart. SO. DAMN. PROUD of @jackantonoff. On iTunes now I just bought itttttttt."
Swift fans seem pretty psyched about the track.
“I CANT BREATHE OMG SHE LITERALLY CAME OUT OF NO WHERE #fiftyshadesdarker #idontwannaliveforever," wrote one Internet user, while another added:
"Zayn and Taylor Swift is the strangest collab but this song is so freaking amazing."
It"s been assumed for months that Swift will drop an album before 2016 ends, but time is running out quickly for that to happen.
We may need to settle for this unexpected release instead.

Fifty Shades Darker: The Sexiest GIFs So Far!
Yesterday, we had the immense pleasure of seeing the new trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, the action-packed, drama-filled, sex-tastic sequel to the massive hit, Fifty Shades of Grey.
And oh, the feelings we had …
In Fifty Shades Darker, our heroine, Anastasia Steele, starts off feeling a little freaked out by Christian Grey"s freakiness, but so much hardship ends up bringing them back together.
And there"s also the sex. We can never, ever forget that.
Hey, when you find a guy who leaves butt plugs out for his maid to sanitize and who will actually reach inside your vagina to pull out your tampon so you can have period sex, you hold on and never let go, right?
But even though we"re still so excited from seeing the trailer, it will still be a couple of long, hard, lonely months until the actual movie comes out.

50 Shades Darker Trailer: Sex! Sex! Drama! More Sex!
A few years ago, there was this little book, this erotic little minx of a book, that went and took the world by storm.
You might remember it — after all, 50 Shades of Grey is one of the fastest-selling books of all time, with over 125 million copies sold.
It"s just a little bit of a phenomenon.
And when a book has sales that good, you have no choice but to make a movie, right?
So Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were cast to play Christian Grey, the millionaire with all the kinks, and Anastasia Steele, the virgin that won over his heart (or more accurately to the first book, his penis).
The movie did very well — come on, it"s a movie based on a book about sex and bondage and sexy bondage, what else was going to happen?
And now, we have the second movie to look forward to it. And we are looking forward to it hard.
50 Shades Darker is set to be released next February, and now we have a brand new trailer to get us psyched for it.
There"s a little more plot to this story, thanks to (spoiler alert!) this creepy girl that won"t leave Christian and Anastasia alone, plus Christian bares his soul or whatever.
But don"t worry — judging by this trailer, there"s still lots and lots of sex.
