Ellen DeGeneres Responds to Charges of Racism

Here is something you don’t read everyday:

Ellen DeGeneres has been forced to defend herself against charges of racism.

What has cast one of Hollywood’s most popular and, let’s face it, most harmless celebrities in such a negative light?

A photo shared on the official Ellen Facebook page that made a joke about Usain Bolt.

On Monday, several hours after Bolt captured his record third consecutive Gold Medal in the 100-meter dash, DeGeneres shared the following image:

“This is how I’m running errands from now on. #Rio2016,” the comedian wrote as a caption.

It’s not her best joke of all-time, but whatever, right? Especially considering it’s sort of Ellen’s thing to insert herself into famous photos, right?

Wrong, argued a handful of critics online.

Wrote one Twitter user in response to the picture:

“@TheEllenShow so the first thing that pops in your head when looking at this pic is “oh let me jump onto his back like he’s a common mule”?

Another user made a similar comment:

“@TheEllenShow @usainbolt So riding on his back like a mule, a horse as some form of property is fun to you… Ok.”

And yet another was a bit more understanding, yet still very critical:

“@TheEllenShow despite its intentions this pic has ugly connotations comin from a rich white lady.”

Wanting to nip this controversy in the bud, Ellen replied to the criticism with a Tweet that reads:

“I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am.”

Here is a look at the message she sent on Tuesday?

And we mean, look, okay, yes, we get it.

If you really wish to scrutinize the above photo, you can find racist connotations to it. We guess.

But sometimes people need to first just chill out. Not everything is a controversy waiting for your opinion on Twitter.

Second, they need to consider the source.

Ellen DeGeneres made for a terrible American Idol judge because she’s too nice. She gives a platform to every conceivable celebrity on her talk show.

She’s known for her warmth and kindness and generally positive attitude and she was just doing here what she does so often:

Make a joke out of something popular in culture at the moment.

Ask yourself this: would Ellen have made this same quip if a white person had won the race? Of course she would have.

Simply put, you have to really, really, REALLY want to see something racist in this picture in order to slam Ellen for it.

And that says more about you than it says about Ellen.

Ellen DeGeneres: Planning an INTERVENTION for Justin Bieber??

Ellen DeGeneres is worried about Justin Bieber, because he’s in a bad, bad way.

Earlier this month, Justin canceled all meet-and-greets he had scheduled with fans, claiming the events are too taxing on his emotional state.

“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he wrote on a post on Instagram.

Ellen reportedly fears he can’t handle all the pressure fame has put upon him, so she’s rounded up his closest friends in an attempt to stage an intervention to address his erratic behavior of late. 

“Ellen wants to stage a kind of intervention for Justin,” a source tells Life & Style. “She wants him to get some kind of psychological help to better handle his fame.”

According to the magazine, the talk show host thinks the Biebs is “headed for trouble” and “wants Justin to take a step back from the limelight before he implodes.”

When Justin appeared on The Ellen Show last month, the singer appeared despondent and forgot when his tour started, which was the only thing he had to remember. 

Perhaps it was in this moment that she was able to peer into his soul through his lifeless eyes and determine that it, too, was near death.

He did, however, perk up when the host gifted him with a hoverboard.

Shortly after the story broke, Gossip Cop rebuked the intervention rumors as “not true.”

Nevertheless, we’re still hoping Ellen will plan an intervention over Bieber’s new dreadlocks, because that hairdo is truly worrisome.

Ellen DeGeneres for Halloween: I"m Karla Kardashian!

Move over, Kim Kardashian.

Take a seat, Kourtney Kardashian.

Same to you, Khloe Kardashian.

Ellen DeGeneres is here to finally give your sister a shot in the spotlight. That"s right, folks, are you ready to meet Karla Kardashian?!?

In a video meant to tease her annual Halloween show, the comedian introduced her latest costume to the world, saying:

"I"m the lesser known Kardashian sister, my name is Karla Kardashian with a K, we"re known for our double K"s these are double Ks too by the way."

That would be a reference to her very fake, very large breasts, which are prominent on display below.

Ellen has dressed up (elaborately) in the past as Nicki Minaj, Sofia Vergara and Amal Clooney.

Donning enormous prosthetic boobs, the Emmy-winning daytime talk show host channeled her Kardashian sibling with a very low-cut zebra print long sleeve top and black stirrup leggings over running sneakers.

"Since I"m the younger sister I get all the hand me downs so these are Kim’s Shape Ups I"m wearing, this is Khloe"s old blouse, and the booty is all mine!" she says.

Why has the world never met Karla before?

"I"m a big part of the family, but for some reason I"m always cut out of the show," she explains here.

"I understand because they only have 12 reality shows that are on TV 80 hours a week but they didn’t have room for me."

Both Kim Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner have made appearances this season on Ellen and we"re guessing the entire family reacts with glee to this impression.

Well, this is downright adorable.

On the same day Kim Kardashian sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and talked to the host about Kanye West running for President, the comedian spent time backstage with someone especially close to her guest…

… daughter North West!

In one of the cutest Instagram photos ever shared by Kardashian, little North is playing My Little Pony with DeGeneres, who is very focused on the precious task at hand.

“Who saw @TheEllenShow today? Well this is right before I went on…Northie & Ellen brushing My Little Pony’s hair lol,” the reality star captioned the photograph.

Kim and Kanye, of course, are expecting their second child in December.

We know it will be a boy and perhaps we also now know what he will be named. Maybe.

“I do like the name Easton, Easton West,” the mommy-to-be said. “I don’t think my husband likes that name, but I do like it.”

Why not, Kanye? Just go with it at this point. Get as crazy as you can get.

The famous couple’s next child is actually due on Christmas Day.

In celebration of the movement, Deepak Chopra led an inspirational meditation in New York City’s Central Park. He shared:

“Every decision I make is a choice between a grievance and a miracle. We are gathered here this morning to let go of all grievances, all resentment, all anger, all hostility, so that we may heal and be healed. Forgiveness heals because it it is the opposite of inflammation.”

We love that these celebs are using their power for good! As Ellen would say, “be kind to one another!”
