Ben Affleck: Caught Drinking at the Emmys?!

As you may have heard, the 2017 Emmy Awards were Sunday night, and as the paltry ratings indicate, no one really cared.

Mainstream news outlets seemed more concerned with the random Sean Spicer cameo than with who took home the night’s major prizes.

And within celebrity gossip circles, the big buzz was all about Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus bringing Ben Affleck as her date.

Ben and Lindsay didn’t walk the red carpet together, but they sat side-by-side at their first industry event as a couple.

Witnesses say Ben stood and cheered when Lindsay took the stage to accept an award alongside Lorne Michaels and several of her SNL colleagues.

It’s unclear exactly how long Ben and Lindsay have been together, but sources close to the couple say they’re moving quickly – and having an awful lot of fun.

Unfortunately, it seems their good times frequently entail heavy boozing, which might be fine, were it not for the fact that Ben just completed rehab in March.

Affleck has been spotted drinking with Lindsay several times since they started dating, and it seems the two of them kept the party going at an Emmy after-party Sunday night.

“He ordered water at the bar but a server brought him over the alcoholic drink once he sat down at the table,” an eyewitness tells In Touch exclusively.

“He drank all of it,” the onlooker adds.

A source close to Affleck doesn’t deny that the actor has been enjoying a drink now and then, but

“Ben continues to focus on a balanced lifestyle,” says the insider.

Affleck having a couple adult beverages on a special occasion may not seem like a big deal, and perhaps it’s not.

But considering he’s very fresh from rehab and juggling a career, a divorce, and being a dad to three kids, it’s not hard to see why fans may be concerned.

After receiving word of her ex’s new relationship, Jennifer Garner reportedly commented that Ben’s drinking is “Lindsay’s problem now.”

Obviously, it’s not really Shookus’ responsibility to make sure that Ben stays off the sauce.

He’s a grown man, after all.

But sources close to Garner say she’d hoped that Lindsay wouldn’t prove to be enabler, and we’re guessing she’s less than thrilled with the way things are playing out.

None us can know the extent of Ben’s addiction, but considering he’s checked into rehab at least twice now, it makes sense that the mother of his children would prefer that he remain sober.

Emmys In Memoriam Segment Snubs Charlie Murphy, Erin Moran and More; Twitter Rages

So the Emmy Awards happened last night, and lots of people had lots of feelings about it.

And many, if not most, of those feelings were extremely negative.

Lots of people were upset when Sterling K. Brown was played off the stage during his lovely acceptance speech — so many that the venue was filled with boos after it happened.

There was also the very odd choice to bring out Sean Spicer — the "joke" didn"t land, to say the least.

Then there was the In Memoriam segment, the part of the show where everyone takes time to pay tribute to the people from the industry who are no longer with us.

It sounds nice, right?

But the people in charge over there at the Emmys truly dropped the ball with this one.

Huge stars like Charlie Murphy, Dick Gregory, Frank Vincent, Harry Dean Stanton, and Erin Moran weren"t remembered during this special moment during the show.

And you know Twitter wasn"t having that …

1. A Strong Start

A strong start

Viola David? Chris Jackson? Boy, this thing had all the ingredients to be a real tear-jerker, huh?

2. But Alas …

But alas

It just simply did not work out.

3. Common Knows

In a nice way, Common called out the Emmys for ignoring Charlie Murphy and Dick Gregory.

4. A Huge Oversight

A huge oversight

… Because really, how are you going to do that to Charlie Murphy and Dick Gregory?

5. Not Erin Moran!

Not erin moran

Seriously, they forgot this lady, too. Such a disappointment.

6. Where’s the Lie?

Wheres the lie

Nothing against legends Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, obviously, but this person has an excellent point.

Sterling K. Brown Played Off Stage at Emmys, Finishes Acceptance Speech in Press Room

This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown was named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 2017 Emmys on Sunday night, a great honor.

The actor – who won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie in 2016 for The People vs. O.J. Simpson – had a lot to say.

Too much to say, if you ask producers …

Brown, upon receiving the award, paid tribute to his fellow nominees during his acceptance speech, saying he was a fan of all of them:

“Before anything like this happened for your boy, I was a fan first, last and always a fan. So to my fellow nominees, I’m a fan. I love y’all.”

The 41-year-old was humbled by the list of people who won this same honor – some of the most iconic actors and TV characters ever.

“This joint right here, like Walter White held this joint here. Dick Whitman held this joint. I may have lost some of y’all but you know, Google it.”

“And 19 years ago Detective Frank Pembleton held this joint, as impeccably played by Andre Braugher,” he said of the Homicide star.

“I want to thank my cast,” he went on, pivoting back to the present, “Milo [Ventimiglia], Mandy [Moore], Justin [Hartley], Chrissy [Metz].”

“You are the best white TV family that a brother has ever had. Better than Mr. Drummond, better than the white folks that raised Webster.”

Unfortunately he wasn’t finished by the time the music came on and his microphone was eventually turned down. Double ouch.

This was met with boos by the audience, and justifiably so, but afterwards, in the press room, Brown got to finish his speech.

The first question he received there was from a reporter who asked if he wanted to, and Brown thankfully obliged (see above):

“I wanted to thank our writers. A show doesn’t get seven acting nominations without some impeccable, beautiful, thoughtful writing.”

“You guys are our life’s blood, so I want to thank you so much. To our producers and directors, in particular, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra.”

“And the crazy cool Ken Olin. I thank you for your guidance and friendship. And I wanted to thank Dan Fogelman.”

“He is the Hebrew hammer with which our house was built. He makes me laugh and cry in equal parts and keeps me coming back for more.”

“And in his own little small special way. He’s not trying to make America great again, he’s trying to make it the best that it’s ever been.”

“I love him for taking me on this journey. And to my wife, I can’t believe they cut me off before I got to thank my wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe.”

“You’re everything. You make my life worth living. You gave me two of the most beautiful things that God has ever put on this planet.”

“My sons Andrew Jason Sterling Brown and Amaré Michael Ryan Christian Brown. Your daddy loves you with the strength of a thousand suns.”

“I’ll see you Monday after work.”

The actor faced stiff competition in the category as he was up against both fan favorites and screen legends, which wasn’t lost on him.

Brown’s costar Milo Ventimiglia also earned a nod, while Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) and Anthony Hopkins (Westworld) were nominated.

The Americans’ Matthew Rhys, Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk and Ray Donovan‘s Liev Schreiber rounded out the impressive category.

Quite a win!

Sean Spicer Crashes Emmys, Inspires Harsh Backlash

Stephen Colbert opened the 2017 Emmy Awards with a musical number, prior to welcoming the audience to the annual celebration of television and then calling out…

… Sean Spicer?!?

Yes, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

The ex-Donald Trump lackey has grown into somewhat of a minor celebrity party due to the many lies he told from the administration podium and partly due to Melissa McCarthy"s popular impression of him on Saturday Night Live.

He appeared in this case after Colbert lamented how difficult it is to gauge these days just how many people watch a show.

“Sean,” he called out, “do you know?”

Enter Spicer and his podium.

“This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period, both in person and around the world!” Spicer announced, over hoots and hollers of the Emmy attendees.

This, of course, was a reference to Spicer’s own statement about PresidentTrump’s inaugural crowd size during his first White House press briefing in January.

Photos depicted a sparse gathering, but the Commander-in-Chief insisted otherwise.

“This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period — both in person and around the globe," said Spicer at the time.

Was this cameo unexpected? Yes.

Was it funny? To some.

Was it controversial? Heck yes.

Spicer was simply doing a job as Press Secretary, taking orders from his boss like so many others around the world.

But he also flat out lied to the American people and misled residents on issues of national importance… over and over and over again.

So now he just gets to enjoy the life of celebrity and even mock the type of manipulative, deceptive, shady, secretive administration that he played a major role in creating?

Many on the Internet were NOT having that…

Do you agree with these critiques?

Does Spicer deserve a second chance? Was he never especially guilty of anything in the first place, so there"s no need for any kind of second chance?

Are critics overreacting? Or was this an example of egregious impropriety on the part of Emmy producers?

Watch the segment and then decide for yourself:
