Frank Vincent: Dead at 78
Even if you don’t know Frank Vincent by name, you certainly recognize the face of the acclaimed character actor.
He played a brutal mobster on the critically acclaimed series, The Sopranos. He’s also acted in multiple Scorsese films, including Goodfellas.
Sadly, though he will live forever on film, Frank Vincent has passed away today.
TMZ reports that Frank Vincent has died, passing away in a New Jersey hospital.
The actor was 78 years old.
Following a heart attack last week, Frank Vincent underwent open heart surgery today.
Every surgery has its risks, and unfortunately, Frank passed away during the surgery itself.
His acting career spanned 41 years, and you don’t need to be an A-list movie star to accumulate fans.
He will be sorely missed.
Even if you’re not a movie buff, you likely recognize Frank Vincent from his role on The Sopranos.
Vincent portrayed a brutal mob boss by the name of Phil Leotardo.
Leotardo was a vicious character — not something that every actor can pull off — and was the archenemy of the protagonist of the series, Tony Soprano.
It takes more than a look and an accent to play that kind of role, and it takes a lot of acting talent to play opposite of James Gandolfini.
Their characters went head-to-head as they struggled to accumulate power in the days before Game of Thrones dominated the minds of HBO’s viewers.
For that matter, even if you aren’t a film buff, you’ve at least heard of Goodfellas.
Scorsese films tend to speak for themselves.
In Goodfellas, Frank Vincent portrayed Billy Batts.
Admittedly, Frank’s role wasn’t that extensive — Billy Batts, a made man for the Gambino crime family, is murdered by the film’s protagonists, so his screen time was limited.
He also appeared in Scorsese films like Raging Bull (where his character was also murdered) and Casino.
After years and years of playing mobsters, Frank Vincent even had a cameo in one of the final episodes of Stargate Atlantis, in an episode where gambling and crime were in play.
Some character actors gripe about being typecast, but the ones who embrace it as Frank Vincent did can enjoy a career that spans a lifetime.
The Massachusetts native, raised in New Jersey, was also a drummer and worked as an acting coach.
In 2006, Frank Vincent was a co-author of a book: A Guy’s Guide to Being a Man’s Man.
We have to appreciate that tongue-in-cheek title.
Great talent like his will be missed.

Ali Vincent Breaks Down Over Biggest Loser Weight Gain
Ali Vincent, The Biggest Loser winner in 2008 — also the show"s first female winner — packed on nearly all of the weight she lost for the fitness reality show.
In an interview with TD Jakes, Vincent admitted, "The Biggest Loser gave me the opportunity to believe in myself, and I don"t know that I ever really did," she wept.
"Do I really deserve to have everything that I dream of?" she asked, tearfully, explaining that she had results, and everyone was rooting for her.
Visibly shaken, the recently married Ali Vincent rambled on and pondered that happiness isn"t deserved, but that happiness is given instead.
Jakes finally cut to the chase and asked the former show contestant why she thought she didn"t deserve to be happy, and whether or not she was sabotaging her own happiness.
Her answer?
"I don"t know. I know that I am."
"I"m 41 years old," Vincent said. "When am I just gonna own my own stuff?"
"It has nothing to do with age," the pastor interrupted, shutting Ali"s sad self-deprecation down.
"You could be 91," he continued.
"Until you confront whatever it is that"s eating at you, it will live forever."
"You gotta go get that thing," he concluded," and you gotta confront it."
Perhaps the most poignant bit of advice Jakes offered Vincent was, "You cannot allow what happened to you to control what is possible for you."
"I may have been through that," he concluded, "but I am not that."
Earlier this year, Vincent wrote a lengthy Facebook post about her shame over gaining the weight back.
She said, "On April 16th I did one of the hardest things in my life."
"I joined Weight Watchers and weighed in close to the weight I started at on The Biggest Loser, " she continued.
"I swore I would never be there again, be here again."
"I couldn"t imagine a day again that I would weigh over 200 pounds," Vincent admitted.
"I feel ashamed. I feel embarrassed. I feel overwhelmed."
"I feel like failure," she sadly revealed.
Vincent asserted that a sexual assault helped trigger the weight gain.
In October, she told Oprah that she"d been molested during a massage.
"I haven"t talked about it because it"s not something you just talk about," she revealed.
"A lot of things have changed over the last couple of years in my life."
"I moved … to Northern California; my routine completely changed," Vincent reasoned.
"I"ve realized, over the last year, as I"ve gained this weight, it was so much of my life slowed down, that a lot of stuff came up that I just hadn"t dealt with."

Kristen Stewart: Dating St. Vincent!
Kristen Stewart has moved on from her former assistant Alicia Cargile again.
No, like, again-again.
This time, it’s reported that she’s dating Cara Delevingne’s super hot ex-girlfriend, American musician St. Vincent.
Yeah, we’d be pretty happy, too, since St. Vincent is the on-fire kinda gorgeous that curls our toes.
Us Weekly reports that the couple is pretty new, and only went public last week. After Stewart brought St. Vincent to the premiere of her new movie, “Certain Women,” the two have reportedly been inseparable.
“It’s been very romantic,” the source reveals. “Kristen is always whispering closely in her ear and asking her opinion.”
Her opinion on what, we’re not sure, but surely it’s got something to do with tips on how to avoid washing your hair, or showing too many teeth when you smile.
Though Stewart publicly confirmed that she and ex-girlfriend Cargile had fallen into their old pattern of boning (can they bone? Is there a way to do that?), she never released a statement saying that they’d broken up.
Previously, Kristen praised the relationship and said, “Right now, I’m just really in love with my girlfriend.”
“We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again,” she positively mooned.
Apparently the thrill — or at least the feeling — is gone. Again. (Again-again.)
Prior to that, Stewart dated SoKo, the French … whatever she was.
By all accounts, the relationship between SoKo and Kristen was a weird one, and SoKo — real name Stéphanie Sokolinksi — appeared to be way more into it than Stewart ever was.
So into Stewart, that it looked like the relationship ended because of Kristen’s cheating history.
SoKo outright accused Kristen of cheating — a thing Stewart’s made a habit out of, apparently — in a deleted Twitter rant that simply said, “CHEATER. F—king CHEATER.”
Surely she couldn’t have been terribly surprised, as Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with buck-toothed director, Rupert Sanders.
As for her new relationship with the gorgeous St. Vincent, this one’s gotta be The One, right? At least for awhile, anyway.
Honestly, what could they possibly fight over? Who has the better legs? Who’s more beautiful? More angsty? ‘Cause it’s a toss-up — nobody’s ever gonna win that kind of argument with these two together.

Cara Delevingne: ENGAGED to St. Vincent?!
It looks like another celebrity couple may be soon to walk down the aisle.
Cara Delevingne and the singer St. Vincent – real name Annie Clark – have been dating for the past 18 months, and now it looks as though they may be planning to get hitched.
A recent photo of the 23-year-old model show her rocking what appears to be a very large engagement ring:
Last year, there were reports that Delevingne and Clark were already married, but it now looks as though that wasn’t the case.
Now, however, rumors that they’ve made plans to tie the knot are circulating online, and neither party has contradicted them.
This may be one of those cases where you can take their silence as a tacit confirmation.
Or not.
Cara and Annie have made every effort to keep their relationship private, and this might just be their way of continuing that trend.
The couple remained silent amidst rumors that they had broken up earlier this year, and enjoyed the last laugh when they were spotted canoodling in public a few weeks later.
We still don’t know if the rumors were bogus, or if Cara and Annie simply decided to get back together.
So we might not know if they’re planning to get married until after the ceremony takes place.
We’d say we might nor even know then, but given how many celebrity friends these two have, it seems unlikely they’d be able to keep their wedding under wraps.
We’ll just go ahead and offer them our congrats on the engagement just to be safe.
