Ed Sheeran Grammy Performance: Taking it Back to His Roots
Ed Sheeran was a last-minute addition to the 2017 Grammy Awards" list of performers, but his effort Sunday night looked … effortless.
Not in the sense that Ed didn"t put in the effort, but the British singer-songwriter has a way of making it look easy on stage sometimes.
Sheeran, 25, took the Grammy stage, having announced he was doing so just seven hours earlier, for a smooth, stripped-down performance.
His loop-pedal roots are what launched Ed"s popularity, and he showed that Sunday night with a rendition of "Shape of You."
It was a performance profound in its simplicity.
An acoustic guitar, a keyboard and a couple of mics (which worked, unlike with Lady Gaga and Metallica) were all he used last night.
No in-ear monitors were employed, even.
Ed is known for his casual style fashion-wise as well as personally and musically, and was true to that as well at the Grammys.
Sporting a simple black t-shirt and jeans, he crushed the performance … and in the process, he unwittingly crashed a website.
How did he pull that off, you ask?
Sheeran"s pedal board of choice, the Chewie II Monsta Looper, caused fascination among the millions of music fans tuning in to watch.
As such, an influx of web traffic to Equipboard (dot) com caused the online database of music gear to display a 502 error after Ed played.
Without getting too technical, the site got an arse-load of traffic thanks to Sheeran, and its servers became overloaded with the demand.
Even more awesome considering that not even 24 hours prior, he was the musical guest performing on Saturday Night Live in NYC.
Three thousand miles away.
Watch part of Sheeran"s performance below and see how it compared to Adele"s Grammy performance and others from the evening!
Lady Gaga, Metallica Grammy Performance Plagued By Mic Issues
Lady Gaga and Metallica"s Grammys duet was plagued by technical problems Sunday night, but the unlikely collaboration still worked.
As well as it could have, at least, considering that James Hetfield"s microphone wasn"t working … not a small issue for a rock band.
For the first minute, Gaga effectively took over as lead singer while Hetfield sang "Moth Into Flame" lyrics into an ineffective mic.
Those who watched the 2017 Grammy Awards live on CBS knew what was going on, but you could barely tell watching the artists.
Handling it like … well, rock stars, they didn"t miss a beat.
Hetfield and Gaga shared ended up sharing her mic, adding a cool theatrical element to the performance, albeit an unplanned one.
With a mix of their heavy metal grit and her pop bombast, not to mention insane pyrotechnics and headbangers, they gave it their all.
Gaga even launched herself into the sellout audience for some crowd surfing at one point, a throwback to Metallica concerts of yore.
Even old school Metallica fans had to appreciate that …
As for how this collaboration ended up happening?
"I was at Bradley [Cooper"s] house with Lars [Ulrich, Metallica"s drummer] and we were just hanging out," Gaga said recently.
"He"s amazing. I went to see them live."
"I saw them recently and we were watching the show," she added, "those guys play better than they’ve played in their whole lives."
The performance capped a huge week for the pop icon; The Lady Gaga Super Bowl halftime show was widely praised as a success.
As for Metallica, the metal greats was nominated last night for Best Rock Song for "Hardwired," but lost to David Bowie"s "Blackstar."
Watch the tandem rock the Grammys below!

Daft Punk, The Weeknd Grammy Performance Gets Futuristic
Everyone’s favorite robot musicians were back, with an assist from The Weeknd, at the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday night in L.A.
It"s not easy to follow an act like the show-opening Adele 2017 Grammy performance, but someone had to, and they were up to the task.
The French producing duo joined the R&B singer onstage to perform a mashup of their collaborations “I Feel It Coming” and “Starboy.”
Both appear on the latest Weeknd album, Starboy.
As you"d expect from the mysterious helmeted duo, the performance was complete with lasers, futuristic scenery and … sci-fi attire.
We didn"t see too many in our rundown of 2017 Grammy fashion from the red carpet, but we hear the cape is making a comeback.
For Daft Punk, it was their first performance was the duo’s first live performance since the 2014 Grammy Awards, a banner night for them.
That evening saw them take home both Album of the Year and Record of the Year for Random Access Memories and its hit, “Get Lucky.”
This year, the Weeknd took the place of Pharrell, and while Daft Punk was not among the "17 Grammy nominees, they stole the show.
After Paris Jackson introduced the performance, the duo emerged in robes along with the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
There were a lot of lights.
There was a ton of fog.
And of course, there were Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, rocking their trademark robot space suits, on stage.
Despite the Grammy-dominating Random Access Memories, they did not tour to support that album, making this a rare live TV appearance.
As for The Weeknd, Starboy was released after the Grammy deadline, so he wasn"t up for any awards pertaining to that record either.
They were only there to entertain us, and while it may not get the buzz of Beyonce"s Grammy performance, they certainly did just that.
Watch below!

Adele Says "Hello" to 2017 Grammy Awards: WATCH!
Why…. hello there, Adele!
A year after stumbling through a Grammy Awards performance that was marred by technical difficulties, everyone"s favorite British singer opened the 2017 version of the event by belting out one of her all-time classics.
In front of a packed crowd inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Adele simply stood on stage Sunday night and did what she does best:
Sing.
The 28-year old dazzles in a sparkling dress during a rendition of “Hello,” hitting every note perfectly and performing with the sort of heart and soul we"ve grown used to hearing from one of the world" best artists.
And then she closed the number with a shout-out to her four-year old son.
"Hello baby," she said sweetly after completing the song, presumably a reference to little Angelo James at home.
Before the ceremony began, Adele won the Grammys for best pop solo performance (for “Hello”) and best pop vocal album (for 25).
She"s pretty darn good, isn"t she?
Along with an Album of the Year nomination, meanwhile, Adele"s latest record earned a pop vocal album of the year nomination, while "Hello,” was up for record of the year, song of the yearand best pop solo performance.
Check out her opening number now:

Frank Ocean SLAMS Taylor Swift: She Doesn"t Deserve a Grammy!
Frank Ocean is a national treasure. So talented. So beautiful.
But while we adore Frank, it seems that he does not feel the same way about the Grammy Awards.
Not even a little bit.
See, back in 2013, he performed at the Grammys. There were some issues with the performance — it was a live show on a huge scale, after all.
And that’s fine, it happens. But for some petty reason, a couple of producers from the awards show decided to run their mouths about it, four years later.
“We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty,” a producer named Ken Ehrilch told Rolling Stone in a new interview. “And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that.”
Ken called Frank’s performance “rigid” and “faulty,” and that it was “not great TV,” and that the reason he hasn’t been involved with the Grammys in the years since is because he was upset about it.
And, well, Frank heard about the interview. And he didn’t appreciate it.
In fact, he felt strongly enough to address it in all all-caps rant on Tumblr.
“OK Ken (and David),” he began, David being the other producer that talked trash. “As much as I hate to make you guys famous or even to respond to you directly. We all die one day and you’re old so f-ck it.”
“Yea yeah my 2013 performance at the Grammys was absolute sh-t. Technical difficulties, blah blah. Thanks for the reminder. Very much appreciated.”
“F-ck that performance though,” he continued. “You think that’s why I kept my work out of the Grammy process this year? Don’t you think I would’ve wanted to play the show to ‘redeem’ myself if I felt that way?”
It’s a fair point, but Frank hasn’t even hit his stride yet.
“In reality,” he wrote, “I actually wanted to participate in honoring Prince on the show but then I figured my best tribute to that man’s legacy would be to continue to by myself out here and to be successful.”
“Winning a TV award doesn’t christen my successful. It took my some time to learn that. I bought all my masters back last year in the prime of my career, that’s successful.”
“‘Blonde’ sold a million plus without a label, that’s successful. I am young, black, gifted and independent.. that’s my tribute.”
OK, and now we’re about to get into the Taylor Swift shade …
Frank said that “I’ve actually been tuning into CBS around this time of year for a while to see who gets the top honor and you know what’s really not ‘great TV’ guys?”
“1989 getting album of the year over To Pimp a Butterfly. Hands down one of the most ‘faulty’ TV moments I’ve seen.”
He’s referring, of course, to Taylor’s last album, 1989, and how it beat out Kendrick Lamar’s amazing To Pimp a Butterfly for the Album of the Year Grammy.
“Believe the people,” he advised the Grammy producers. “Believe the ones who’d rather watch select performances from your program on YouTube the day after because your show puts them to sleep.”
“Use the old gramophone to actually listen bro,” he went on. “I’m one of the best alive. And if you’re up for a discussion about the cultural bias and general nerve damage the show you produce suffers from then I’m all for it.”
“Have a good night.”
And, well, he’s not wrong. About any of it.
Taylor’s album sold extremely well, and it was fun and catchy, but Kendrick Lamar definitely had the better album.
Just like, all those years ago, Beyonce had the better music video.
It’s a good thing Taylor doesn’t have a new album this year — we have a feeling we know who’d be getting the pointed, misguided speech this year.

Grammy Awards Playback: A Night to Remember!
The biggest night in music has come, gone and left certain songs stuck in our head.
Which acts stood out from the rest? Who may want to fire his or her stylist? Has the world yet recovered from a subpar Adele performance?
It’s time to relive the 2016 Grammy Awards, readers!
The night, of course, belonged to Taylor Swift, with the most beloved solo artist on the planet opening the event with a rendition of “Out of the Woods” and then sticking it to Kanye West upon winning Album of the Year:
But Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga both knocked Swift off the viral front page for a few moments at least, thanks to two of the most memorable performances we’ll see this year:
Not everyone loved Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie, however, including Bowie’s own son. Awkward!
Not everyone loved Swift, either, most notably Tori Kelly.
Just consider the reaction of this budding star when watching Swift accept the night’s final trophy:
Who are we kidding overall, however?
Forget the music. Forget the awards themselves. Forget the major cases of side eye.
What do these types of ceremonies always come down to? THE FASHION!
Who dressed best, worst and somewhere in between? Compare, contrast and decide below:
Paul McCartney Denied Entry to Tyga"s Grammy Party, Hell Freezes Over
I will not live in a world where Paul McCartney is not allowed into a party hosted by Tyga.
The Beatles legend (L-E-G-E-N-D) was filmed by TMZ trying to get into at Grammy Awards afterparty at the Argyle in Hollywood with Beck and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Thinking it would be a piece of cake to show his face (see: L-E-G-E-N-D), Sir Paul and his friends arrived at the back entrance to the club. The videographer was asking McCartney to name his his favorite Rolling Stones song, and caught the whole thing on camera.
Beck hung in the background, wide-eyed with disbelief, as McCartney tried to wrap his head around the fact that he wasn"t allowed into the party.
Because he"s a class act, McCartney didn"t throw a fit or take to Twitter to complain about today"s youth.
Instead, he had a laugh.
"How VIP do we gotta get?" McCartney joked to his friends. "We need another hit."
So, off McCartney and his friends went to Hyde, where they toasted their age and cool factor at the Republic Records Grammy party.
The videographer tried to get a quote from Tyga as he left the party, but it was all a bunch of mumbles.
Bow Wow, on the other hand, couldn"t believe that McCartney couldn"t get into the party.
"Wait, wait. Time out. THE Paul McCartney came to Argyle? And they would not let Paul McCartney in? There"s not way that you"re telling me that."
Then some other kid came up to the camera to talk about how much cooler than are than McCartney because they"re young, and I wept into my discman.
Tori Kelly Mesmerizes at Grammy Awards, Shades Taylor Swift
Tori Kelly appears to be on Team Kanye West.
At the 58th annual Grammy Awards on Monday night, the artist received the same sort of reaction as she enjoyed after performing last year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
That is to say… she absolutely killed it!
Kelly was one of the most talked-about acts after taking to the stage alongside James Bay and singing a duet mash-up of “Let It Go” and “Hollow.”
You really should check out the performance above.
But Kelly also made headlines for her reaction later in the evening, as cameras captured Tori in the audience during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech upon winning Best Album.
While most in the crowd seemed moved by Swift’s words, which were inspired by Kanye West’s recent diss of her on the track “Famous,” here is a look at how Kelly reacted to Taylor:
She is SO over Taylor Swift, isn’t she?
“I want to say to all the young women out there,” Swift said in her speech, clearly referencing her current beef with Kanye.
“There are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”
But Swift encouraged these same young women to just “focus on the work” and not to let “those people sidetrack you.”
What issue, exactly, did Kelly take with Swift’s message?
Who knows. Perhaps she just has Taylor Swift overload.
Or maybe she was just upset over losing out to Meghan Trainor for Best New Artist earlier in the evening.
But that’s a far less interesting angle for us to believe or promote than the one that finds Tori Kelly hating on Taylor Swift.

2016 Grammy Awards Fashion: Who Dressed Best?
Yes, there were some pretty impressive performances on stage at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
The world will be talking about what Kendrick Lamar did for a very long time.
But these events are never about what happens inside the auditorium or arena. They are all about what takes place outside.
That is, they are all about the red carpet fashion!
So click around below and decide who dressed best… who dressed worst… and who barely got dressed at all:
