Amber Portwood Opens Up About Heartbreaking Miscarriage

When it comes to her personal struggles, Amber Portwood is not always as forthcoming as some of her Teen Mom co-stars.

Amber has been through a lot over the years, and sometimes she would understandably prefer to not share her most painful moments with fans.

But Amber seems to understand that sometimes she can help others who might be struggling by opening up about her own heartache.

And she"s done exactly that this week by opening up about one of the more difficult times in her life.

Take a look:

Jamie Otis Suffers Another Miscarriage, Remains Determined to Have a Baby

Jamie Otis is a woman on a mission.

But that mission has taken another tragic turn for the terribly unfortunate.

The former Married at First Sight cast member, who is the mother to a beautiful daughter named Gracie and who suffered a miscarriage in 2016, confirmed on Sunday that she experienced a chemical pregnancy just days after she posted a picture of a pregnancy test that she hoped was positive.

This is such heartbreaking news.

“Sorry I’ve been MIA, this very bizarre positive pregnancy test then negative test then faint positive lines gave me hope that Gracie was going to become a big sis in 9 months,” wrote the ex-TLC star, adding as part of a caption to the photo above:

“But the night before last I began having terrible contraction-like pains & spotting.”

Otis is a nurse. She had a strong feeling about what this meant.

“Then over the night full blown everything – if you know what I mean,” she continued.

“I’m a nurse so I had my suspicions; but my midwife confirmed I had a chemical pregnancy.

“I don’t know why some people have it seemingly SO easy to get preggers & carry their babies to term and others struggle?”

There’s no answer to this question, of course.

It’s just a very unfair aspect of life.

(For those wondering, a chemical pregnancy is defined as an early pregnancy loss that occurs shortly after implantation of a fertilized egg. The exact cause is unknown.)

Referring to her daughter and to husband Doug Hehner, Otis put on an impresively brave face and continued:

“What I do know is that I am so, so thankful for this little girl [and her daddy] right here. It’s like she knew mommy was in so much pain bc she just wanted to be held and snuggled all night long.”

Otis had shared a photo of what looked like a positive pregnancy test on Instagram on Friday, August 31.

“If I stare long enough I see the faintest ‘+’ sign,” she wrote, asking followers to send “baby dust, prayers & positivity” her way.

Jamie and Doug met on the first season of Married at First Sight.

And the former emphasized in this same Instagram post that she isn’t done trying to give Gracie a brother or sister.

Showing gratitude to her fans for their “prayers & positive energy,” Otis wrote:

“We have to wait a cycle before trying again, but I am on a mission to make Gracie a big sis now. …has this happened to anyone else where you go through a loss & then all you want – the only healing thought – is to become pregnant with a healthy pregnancy?!

“This happened to me after our sweet Johnathan & the same feelings have come back.”

Johnathan is the name Jamie and Doug gave their son who they lost after Otis was pregnant with him for four months.

They honored him in moving fashion about a year later.

Otis concluded her latest post by thanking her fans as follows:

“I feel like I have a million sisters/friends who i call my ‘frans’ right here & I appreciate you, your prayers, your thoughts & words of love for me & my little family more than you’ll ever know!”

We send our thoughts and prayers to Otis and Hehner.

Jenni Farley Talks Miscarriage: "I Was a F-cking Mess"

Gym, Tan, Laundry?

Maybe that was all the cast of Jersey Shore talked about its first time around.

But a lot has changed over the years, and these MTV stars got far deeper than we ever imagined was possible on Thursday night’s installment of their rebooted series.

Specifically, Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino opened up on this episode about Jersey Shore Season 4, which was filmed in Italy.

It aired throughout the summer and fall of 2011 — and Farley admits now that she was in no shape at all to be having her life filmed at all times by cable network cameras back then.

And why not?

Because she had very recently suffered a miscarriage.

“Three to four weeks before Italy, my grandmother passed and me and Roger [Mathews] actually lost a baby … not a lot of people know,” the 32-year old said on air last night.

She went on to detail the effect that such a trauma had on her psyche.

“They put me on medication because of it because I couldn’t handle life,” Jenni said, expounding as follows:

“The medication – it was like Xanax, it would take me down. The downers would make me so groggy, then I would start taking uppers. I segued right into Italy.

“I was a f-cking mess.”

Man. We’re so very sorry to hear that.

Few life events are as devastating as a miscarriage.

Farley and husband Mathews eventually welcomed their first child, a daughter named Meilani Alexandra, in 2014.

Two years later, they welcomed a son named Greyson Valor.

Prior to Meilani entering the world, however, Farley wrote candidly on her blog that she actually thought she had suffered a miscarriage for a second time.

(The first miscarriage was unknown to the public at the time.)

“I went to the bathroom, I saw blood and panicked,” wrote Farley in early 2014, adding:

“So many thoughts were running through my head. I felt a loss like no other when I thought that I was no longer pregnant.

“I whispered it to Roger and for that whole ride we just stared straight ahead and didn’t say a word. I went to bed that night in Nashville praying it was just a thing that happens.”

Thankfully, she was right.

Everything was okay this time around.

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation premiered last Thursday evening, giving fans an update on what Jenni, Mike and others in their crew have been up to.

In many ways, things are the same:

There’s still plenty of drinking, partying and arguing taking place.

In other ways, however, nothing is the same, most notably because there are now actual kids in the picture… kids that belong to these reality stars!

Who would have thought?!?

To watch Jersey Shore online and to get caught up on the happenings surrounding JWOWW and company, press Play on the video below:

Editor’s Note:

We wish Farley the best and we’re so very sorry this happened to her.

We’re glad to hear that she has recovered from this tragedy and we think her two kids are SO cute!

Claire Holt Shares Heartbreaking Miscarriage Story

Claire Holt has shared a message on Instagram that no woman ever wants to share.

But it’s one the actress deemed too important to keep to herself.

In a heartbreaking caption, the former Vampire Diaries and Originals star tells followers that she recently suffered a miscarriage.

“I took this photo 10 days ago, as I waited for surgery after my sweet little baby lost its heartbeat,” Holt says to open her post, which is included alongside a picture of herself in a hospital gown and bed.

She then adds of Matt Kaplan and the basis for the selfie:

“I sent it to my fiancé in the waiting room to show him that I was ok. I wasn’t. I’ve never felt more broken in my life.”

Why did Holt decide to make this personal pain into a public statement?

“I debated sharing this so soon and I’m still frightened about making such a private struggle public, but I’m doing it anyway because it’s important,” she explains, prior to delving into a lot more detail.

Out of respect for what Holt went through, we’re just going to post the rest of her caption word-for-word, letting her powerful words speak for themselves…

(Editor’s note: D&C stands for “dilation and curettage procedure.”)

After my D & C, I spent hours on the internet searching for women who had been through it.

I was desperate to find someone, anyone, who could relate to what I was feeling. Someone to tell me that the depression and hopelessness were normal. That it wasn’t my fault. That I wasn’t broken forever.

I found a community of women who shared my exact experience. Who were open and vulnerable about miscarriage, something that isn’t often or openly discussed.

It breaks my heart to think that losing a baby feels like something we have to keep to ourselves. Why is it any different than the death of a loved one? How is it any less meaningful?

Here is what I have learned as I begin to crawl out of the dark hole: support is everything. I could not have survived this without the unconditional love of my partner.

Despite his pain, he was my rock and my safety net. I will never know how to thank him. I also found that opening up to people is crucial.

As soon as I told my story, almost everyone I spoke to told me theirs – their own, their wife’s, their sister’s. So many people go through it and understand the breadth of pain, yet so few people talk about it.

Finally, I want to share a blog post that resonated with every part of me.

You can find the link in my bio, @leandramcohen of @manrepeller articulates the emotional rollercoaster with an eloquence that I could never possess.

To anyone out there who has been through a miscarriage, I understand you. I share every bit of your pain and you are not alone. Please be kind to yourself and I hope that you will be comfortable sharing your story too.

The link Holt is referring to takes on to THIS POST.

It’s most definitely worth reading if you’ve been through anything like Holt has, or even if you just know someone who has suffered this kind of tragedy.

It’s devastating.

We send our thought to Claire Holt and to all the other women who have suffered a miscarriage.

At least Holt can take solace in knowing she isn’t alone.

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Confirm Miscarriage, Break Everyone"s Hearts

If you watched last night’s episode of Teen Mom OG, then you know that it contained some pretty heavy scenes.

And if you didn’t … well, just prepare yourself for these heartbreaking spoilers, OK?

During the episode, we saw Farrah lose her mind, just like always, we saw Gary deal with some paternity stuff, and we saw Maci consider a new treatment to deal with her PCOS.

But when it came to Catelynn and Tyler’s story, the story we’re going to be talking about right now, things got just a little more tragic.

For much of this season so far, we saw Catelynn and Tyler discuss having another baby. We saw her doctor’s visit when she had her IUD removed, and then her positive pregnancy test.

We saw her tell Tyler the good news, then we saw them tell their families.

But in this week’s episode, we learn that she suffered a miscarriage.

“It’s very traumatic,” Tyler explained to a producer after it happened. “When you see her shaking and she’s got blood everywhere … you don’t really know what to do.”

“She kind of cleaned herself up, and we kind of figured out what was going on. Spotting is normal, but all the clotting is not.”

After that, he said that they “just sat in the bed and cried and just held each other.”

Tyler then somehow managed to make the story even more tragic by saying “I mean, here’s nothing you can really do, so it felt very similar to Carly.”

Carly, of course, being the daughter they placed for adoption when they were teenagers.

“I mean, Carly’s a little different,” he admitted, “because we have to … we get to see her every year, but it’s a loss, and you feel it.”

“Like, I feel like you process it as a loss. So I guess it’s something I didn’t really understand before.”

Catelynn tried to deal with the loss a few different ways — she practiced breathing exercises, she used a mantra, that kind of thing.

But then a producer told Tyler that Cate had called her and told her that “she wanted to kill herself.”

We already know what happened from there — she checked into a treatment center in Arizona to deal with everything, spent six weeks there, and after a few weeks of being at home she went back for another round.

We never had any doubt that she truly needed the help, and honestly anyone who’s ever watched Teen Mom would likely agree, but after seeing this episode, we’re extra glad she took those steps to take care of herself.

It’s a good thing that Tyler’s been getting some therapy of his own, too, because it’s obvious the miscarriage affected him greatly as well.

As he explained on Twitter after the episode aired, “That baby may have not been fully grown in the womb… but it was fully grown in our hearts.”

“For every parent out there who has lost a baby…it is not your fault & it is more than acceptable & understandable to mourn the loss of that baby & take your time to grieve.”

It was a touching message, and it’s clear that it resonated strongly with many of his followers.

“Last night’s episode was hard,” one person replied to his tweet, “and you two are so damn strong! I wish I had someone who would have done for me what you did for Cate.”

“I’m sorry you guys had to go through that,” another person wrote. “I have had 2 miscarriages.. to most people it was just a lost pregnancy but for me I lost my 2 babies. I love you guys stay strong you will get through this in your own time and your own way.”

One women even commented that she’d had nine miscarriages, and that “it is the hardest thing in my life I had to go through.”

“I wish more people were vocal about it, as it stands it feels so taboo to talk about and makes you feel so alone when you have a miscarriage.”

As difficult as it must have been for Catelynn and Tyler to film throughout all of this, it’s obviously an important topic for many, many people.

As always, we wish them nothing but the best.

Catelynn Lowell: Struggling to Cope with Miscarriage

Reports that Catelynn Lowell suffered a miscarriage are heartbreaking.

The Teen Mom OG star has reportedly sought guidance from rehab, but fans are now for the first time seeing her joy upon learning that she’s pregnant on the show itself. Quite the contrast from her current grim reality.

A new report reveals how Catelynn is coping … and that MTV’s crew has been instructed to walk on eggshells around her in this trying time.

On the most recent episode of Teen Mom OG, Catelynn Lowell revealed that she was pregnant.

She shared the news with Tyler Baltierra by putting Nova in a shirt that read “I’m going to be a big sister!”

Kind of a weird way for Tyler to find out what was, at the time, good news. But a cute reveal nonetheless.

Unfortunately, we already know that Catelynn Lowell suffered a miscarriage.

That’s one of the pitfalls of reality television being filmed months in advance — you see sad life events coming in the distance like an oncoming train, but you can’t get off of the tracks.

Catelynn has reportedly not taken this well.

Everyone grieves differently. Everyone processes negative emotions differently.

And no two people have the exact same response to the very personal tragedy of a miscarriage.

Considering the childhood trauma that Catelynn has endured, it’s very understandable that she faces additional challenges when it comes to grief and loss.

Grappling with suicidal thoughts, Catelynn Lowell checked herself into rehab for her own safety and well-being.

As a reality star, Catelynn has to relive her suffering as her story unfolds for fans and viewers on Teen Mom OG.

But there is still so much that fans don’t know. Obviously, many — though not all — know better than to directly ask Catelynn about her alleged miscarriage and about details of her stint in rehab.

Keep in mind that a lot of this is unconfirmed, but based upon reports of what people who work on the show were told.

Still, the story adds up. The pregnancy reports (now confirmed on the show), the confession of suicidal ideation, the rehab reports.

This is all so sad.

HollywoodLife reports on how Catelynn Lowell is coping and on the Teen Mom OG star’s current state of mind:

“Catelynn is not ready for any of this to be public right now so it’s complicated.”

Yes, it certainly is.

“It’s such a delicate subject there’s a lot of mystery around what exactly happened and the crew has been told not to ask her about it and not to mention it to anyone so there is a lot of unknowns.”

True. It’s good that the crew has been instructed to be sensitive at this time, but there has to be some unspoken awkwardness on set. Or so we imagine.

“Obviously Catelynn is having a very hard time coping right now so the priority is just getting her stable again.”

Absolutely. We all want to know, but Catelynn’s health and well-being come first.

Still, the source ends on a positive note.

“It’s a dark time, but she’s a fighter and she’ll make it through.”

Considering all that Catelynn has already been through, we’re inclined to agree.

Catelynn may have filmed rehab footage for Teen Mom OG. If so, we’ll all get front-row seats to an early and crucial stage of her recovery.

But grief and mourning aren’t something that you can complete during a stint at an Arizona facility.

Regardless of what makes it on camera, we expect that Catelynn will share her story with fans when she’s good and ready.

Vanessa Marcil Suffers Seventh Miscarriage

Vanessa Marcil has announced a tragic piece of news:

The veteran actress has suffered yet another miscarriage.

The former Las Vegas and Beverly Hills, 90210 star confirmed this sad development on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself and her fiancee (who she refers to as “MC”) kissing on the beach.

Reads a statement below this sweet image:

“Our hearts are with Vanessa and MC who have lost baby OPM.

“Thank you for respecting their privacy as they heal and thank you for sharing all of your personal stories.

“You are not alone.”

She certainly is not. The numbers vary every year, but approximately 15-20 percent of all pregnancies in the U.S. end in a miscarriage.

As you can see down below, this awful situation has also afflicted many famous celebrities.

Vanessa Marcil instagram

Back in November, Marcil shared with her social media followers that she was pregnant, but also noted that caution was needed.

She wanted her fans to celebrate along with her, yet also knew everyone had to be wary,

“After six miscarriages we are saying prayers for OPM,” Marcil wrote at the time.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, the actress confirmed on her Instagram page that she was expecting a daughter, posting a photo of her puppy Rocky snuggling close to her owner’s baby bump.

“The GIRLS,” she captioned the moment.

Marcil does share a 15-year old son named Kassius Lijah with ex-boyfriend and co-star Brian Austin Green

The actress and her fiance, whose identity she chooses to keep secret, got engaged in April of 2015.

She was previously married to Corey Feldman from 1989 to 1993; and also to actor Carmine Giovinazzo from 2010 to 2013.

“V has had a miscarriage. Our second one this year,” Giovinazzo wrote under Marcil’s Twitter account in December 2011, adding:

“Thanx for the love and prayers.”

This has tragically been an issue that has plagued Marcil for many years.

Along with the aforementioned television shows, soap opera fans likely recognize the actress from her lengthy run as Brenda on General Hospital.

She has also appeared on Crossing Jordan and Without a Trace.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Marcil and her fiance during this difficult time.

Catelynn Lowell: In Rehab After Suffering Miscarriage?!

To be honest, we thought that we knew the full, tragic extent of Catelynn Lowell’s current issues with her mental health.

But, as it turns out, we really, really did not.

Since Catelynn has lived so much of her life on television, we’ve been able to see many of the heartbreaking things she’s been through.

We saw her agonize with Tyler Baltierra over the decision to place their first daughter for adoption, and we saw how completely unsupportive their parents were about it.

We saw how terrible her mother was to her afterwards, to the point where it was almost too uncomfortable to watch.

And then, when she and Tyler had precious little Nova three years ago, we saw her suffer from severe postpartum depression after giving birth.

More recently, Catelynn has been in and out of rehab since December, dealing with suicidal thoughts and trying to work through her childhood trauma.

It just seems like a whole, whole lot for one person to go through.

Now, thanks to a genuinely upsetting new report, we’re learning that she’s been through even more than that.

To give a little background, there was some interesting footage in the teaser for next week’s new episode of Teen Mom OG.

In the teaser, the one that aired immediately after the most recent episode, we saw Catelynn tell Tyler that Nova was going to be a big sister — meaning, of course, that she was pregnant.

She even presented a positive pregnancy test.

That would be a fine little scene if the cast members weren’t so active on social media, because let’s be real, if Catelynn was pregnant right now, there is literally no way we wouldn’t know all about it.

So what’s going on?

According to a source who spoke with The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, “Catelynn got pregnant and surprised Tyler and Nova and then had a miscarriage not long after.”

“That happened right before she went to treatment when she tweeted about thinking about killing herself.”

Oh, Catelynn …

The source adds that “The crew and production staff heard she was about six weeks pregnant when it happened, but no one is 100 percent sure.”

So that makes it sound like the miscarriage definitely had a hand in her worsened depression, right?

It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think about, but there’s another layer to the whole thing that makes it just a little bit harder.

“They don’t do voiceovers until the episode is all done and being edited usually,” the insider explained, “so Catelynn had to talk about trying to get pregnant and then getting pregnant even after she had the miscarriage.”

“We felt badly for her.”

Yes, obviously. It actually sounds kind of cruel to make her do this.

The source also said that her miscarriage “is definitely going to be a big topic on the show.”

“That’s why last week they made sure her voiceover was something like, ‘I’m not telling Tyler I took my birth control out."”

If Catelynn did go to rehab very soon after the miscarriage, then left early, returned to complete her treatment, and then went in for another round of treatment a couple of weeks after that, it seems safe to say that she isn’t doing terribly well.

Here’s hoping she’s able to work through everything — because she’s been through enough hard times for a lifetime.

Maci Bookout Reveals Miscarriage Heartbreak

When it comes to shows like Teen Mom OG, there’s good drama, and there’s bad drama

Good drama is stuff like the feud between Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood–entertaining fluff of no real consequence.

Sadly, it seems that on this week’s episode, viewers will see Maci Bookout endure drama that goes beyond “bad” and into the realm of tragic.

A preview clip from the episode shows Maci and husband Taylor McKinney at dinner, discussing the possibility of expanding their family.

It seems they had previously talked about the possibility of adopting, and both agreed that they wrould prefer to adopt a child in the “4 to 6 age range” rather than an infant.

After the adoption discussion, Maci reluctantly revealed that she would be open to the idea of getting pregnant again,

“If you seriously want to have another baby, then I’ll do it, but I still want to adopt, too,” she told Taylor.

“But if we want to do it naturally, I want to do it, like, now.”

“If we want it to happen, it’s gonna happen like that,” Taylor replied, with a snap of his fingers.

At that point, the tone of the conversation changed abruptly, and a downcast Maci remarked, “You’re forgetting something.”

Taylor sat silent for a moment before meekly excusing himself from the table.

When one of the show’s producers came over to see if Maci was okay, she made a tragic revelation:

“I had a miscarriage,” Bookout said. “Her name is Dande. Dandelion.”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” McKinney interjected.

“I think it’s important for people that are watching that we talk about it,” Maci said.

“I would like to talk to our parents about it first,” Taylor replied.

There’s obviously no rule book for dealing with something like a miscarriage, and both parties make valid points about discussing the matter publicly.

Other women who have suffered miscarriages may find solace in learning that Maci shares their heartbreak, but at the same time, even reality stars are entitled to a modicum of privacy.

It’s terrible that Maci had to endure such a loss, but she’s no doubt serving a needed source of support for those who have suffered in the same way.

Watch Teen Mom OG online for more on Maci and Taylor.

Tiffany Thornton Shares Heartbreak of Recent Miscarriage

Tiffany Thornton has taken to Instagram and opened up about something both very personal and also very painful:

The actress recently suffered a miscarriage.

The 31-year old, best known for roles on Sonny with a Chance and So Random!, shared this sad news on her social media account earlier this week.

She wrote in detail about what happened on Christmas, using the holiday to connect with fans and help other women in her situation know they aren’t alone.

She even did so mere hours after suffering the tragedy.

And she opened her post by referencing God and her faith, simply writing “Transparency = Testimony” before adding:

“When King Agrippa asked Paul what he had to say for himself to convince the King to spare his life, he responded with all he had: his testimony.

“He had no riches to offer, no land, no persuasion even. Simply his testimony. In this same way I feel led to share MY testimony with those who will listen so I can give others hope through tough times in their lives.

“Some people would say I shouldn’t share so many intimate details about my life but if I don’t use the platform God has given me to tell about His unfailing love and grace in my life then what is the whole point of the platform in the first place?”

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Thornton wrote this caption (above and below) alongside the picture/quote posted here:

Tiffany Thornton prayer

Continued the actress:

So today I am going to be incredibly transparent as I ask for prayers. In the early hours of this morning I miscarried a 5 week pregnancy.

I was always the person that thought this wouldn’t happen to me. Until it did. I’m still in a bit of shock about it but there is one thing I know: God has His hand of protection over me and my husband and children AT ALL TIMES.

And I know it was a form of His protection to only my body to carry this tiny blessing for 5 weeks.

Thornton lost her husband in a car crash two years ago and got remarried in October.

She has two sons, Kenneth and Bentley.

This is how she concluded her emotional story on Instagram:

I am grateful that I wasn’t further along in the pregnancy. I am grateful that I didn’t end up having a child who would suffer once born.

I can’t imagine a child in pain and no way for me to help them. I am grateful that my body does what it is supposed to do even in the most difficult situation.

And my heart breaks for any mom who has gone through a miscarriage. I have always wanted to be a mom, no matter what challenges that would bring. And I know, just like this picture, that there is always something beautiful and bright after a dark spot in life.

So I will persevere and continue on in hope that the Lord will eventually fulfill our desire for another baby. I’ll go ahead and thank you all now for the prayers as I know they will be coming in like a flood.

As you read this I don’t want you to feel sorry for me but rather feel emboldened to share your mistakes, hurts and truths to others so that they can see God through u.

My fans + followers: you are more than that to me. You are family. The body of Christ and my equals. And I love each of you. Thank you for loving me too.

As you can see below, Thornton isn’t alone, either.

Plenty of female stars have also suffered a miscarriage.

Our hearts go out to each of them and to Thornton, as well.

We salute and applaud her for opening up in this manner and we wish her and her family well.
