The Voice Recap: Who Made It to the Battle Rounds?

The Blind Auditions reached their sixth night on Tuesday.

Yes, it felt like groundhog day, but at least there were some decent acts, we guess.

With the Battles creeping up, most of the below competitors will probably not survive them.

Caeland Garner (Team Blake) – “Dancing in the Moonlight”

Remember Red Marlow? Well, his friend, Caeland appeared at the Blind Auditions, and immediately struck a chord with the coaches.

The 31-year-old went with a Toploader cover, and it got Blake happy enough to take him as one his own competitors.

“Your voice is so unique,” the coach said. “I’m mesmerized by your sound.”

Lela (Team Jennifer) – “Havana”

This 15-year-old Miami native was open about wanting to harness the sounds of both Shakira and Beyonce. While we’re not sure she sounded anything like either of those famous artists, there was something there to like.

However, there’s no telling whether she will survive the Battle Rounds, or if she will be able to adapt quickly.

Cody Ray Raymond (Team Kelly) – “Born Under a Bad Sign”

Cody turned in a surprising audition. He seemed like he had a distinct sound before he even started singing, but he switched it up with an extraordinary rendition of this hit song.

Kelly heard the voice and immediately turned her chair because there was something to work with here. He had charisma, the vocals, and a great stage presence.

Abby Cates (Team Kelly) – “Scars to Your Beautiful”

On paper, Abby seemed like she would be a great performer, but her voice burned out by the second verse of her number, and that’s a bad sign.

If that’s the shape of things to come for this youngster, then there’s little chance she will make it very far.

Funsho (Team Adam) – “Finesse”

It’s always difficult to chase the dream, but Funsho quit his job to carve out a career in music in L.A., and he’s been struggling ever since.

The good thing was that his voice was robust, and could probably move some mountains. The song choice will be critical from here on out for this one.

What are your thoughts on the latest acts?

The Voice Recap: The Battle Rounds Kick Off!

The Battle Rounds are a go!

On Monday’s episode of The Voice, it was time for the lucky people who made it through the blind auditions to be benchmarked against each other.

In true The Voice fashion, some of the pairings were random and felt very one-sided.

But let’s break down the six battles of the night.

Team Alicia: Sharane Calister vs. Jamai – “Mercy”

Sharan proved in her audition that she was a force to be reckoned with, and she did not disappoint during her battle with Jamal.

Her vocals were solid, and she definitely had the upper hand on Jamal throughout. For Jamal, it became clear that charm can only help you skate by for so long.

Winner: Sharane

Team Kelly: Brynn Cartelli vs. Dylan Hartigan –  “…Ready for It?”

This battle was close as hell. Brynn and Dylan had very different auditions, so there was no way to tell pre-performance which one of them would win.

The battle was high-octane and filled with moments that were memorable. That’s why it was good one was saved, while another got a reprieve.

Winner: Brynn

Steal: Dylan to Team Blake

Team Blake: Kyla Jade  vs. JessLee – “One Last Time”

Giving both of these women an Ariana Grande song to tackle was a downright bizarre move that made us wonder whether Blake even cared about their progression.

Kyla struggled to make it her own, and she was clearly still acting like a backup dancer. JessLee sounded much better, so it was mind-boggling that Kyla advanced.

Winner: Kyla Jade

Team Adam: Rayshun LaMarr vs. Tish Haynes Keys – “Sweet Thing”

If you asked us before the performance, we would have said that Tish would have emerged from the battle as a winner.

But Rayshun appeared on the stage, and his voice had definitely improved somewhat from his previous performance.

It was a tight race to the finish line, and we had no idea who was going to emerge as the winner.

Winner: Rayshun

Steal: Tish to Team Kelly

Team Alicia: Christiana Danielle vs. Shana Halligan –  “Use Somebody”

There was really no competition here. Christiana’s vocal range was something Shana could only dream of hitting.

There would have been outrage if Shana secured the win.

WinnerChristiana

Team Kelly: D.R. King vs. Jackie Foster –  “Sign of the Times”

Things took a wild turn when D.R. King went to battle with Jackie Foster. This was the best battle in quite some time.

D.R. came out smelling of roses while Jackie was solid, but not strong enough to win this round.

Winner: D.R. King

Steal: Jackie to Team Adam

Okay, what did you think of the latest round of battles?

James Franco Accused of Sexual Misconduct By 5 Women; Actor Continues to Make Media Rounds

At this point, we’re sadly unsurprised when one of Hollywood’s most influential men is accused of some form of sexual misconduct.

The cycle of accusation, apology, and fallout has become all too familiar and, for the most part, fairly easy to predict.

But as award season kicks into high gear, James Franco is defying convention by refusing to step away from the spotlight or even apologize for his alleged past behavior.

On Sunday night, Franco won a Golden Globe for his performance in The Disaster Artist, a film that he also wrote and directed.

His celebration was short-lived, however, due number of tweets posted by actress Ally Sheedy that hinted at sexual misconduct on Franco’s part.

Shortly thereafter, a woman named Violet Paley came forward with allegations that Franco had sexually assaulted her when she was just 17 years old.

In the 48 hours that followed, four other women came forward

“I was talking to him, all of a sudden his penis was out,” Paley said.

“I got really nervous, and I said, ‘Can we do this later?’ He was kind of nudging my head down, and I just didn’t want him to hate me, so I did it.”

Paley went on to date Franco, but says when she reflects on the incident, she feels she was coerced into performing oral sex despite feeling uncomfortable about it.

“I would say, ‘No, stop, get out of my car.’ The power dynamic was really off,” she tells the

Paley says she emailed Franco after the Harvey Weinstein sex scandals surfaced to make him aware that she felt she had been mistreated.

She says he didn’t respond right away, but eventually called to try and make amends.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan, an acting student at Franco’s Studio 4 film school, also elaborated on allegations against the 39-year-old today.

Tither-Kaplan claims that whle shooting the 2014 film The Long Home, Franco removed protective plastic guards that covered actresses’ vaginas while he simulated oral sex.

“I got it in my head pretty quickly that, okay, you don’t say ‘no’ to this guy,” Tither-Kaplan said.

Hilary Dusome and Natalie Chmiel, two other students of Franco’s, detailed an incident in which the actor allegedly got angry when no actresses would agree to go topless while filming a scene in a strip club.

“I felt like I was selected for something based on my hard work and my merit, and when I realized it was because I have nice [breasts], it was pretty clear that was not the case,” Dusome said.

“I don’t think he started teaching with bad intentions, but he went down a bad path and damaged a lot of people in the process.”

In the wake of the allegations, Franco has continued to make talk show and other media appearances in hopes of improving his film’s chances of securing several possible Oscar nominations.

On Tuesday night, Franco denied responsibility in an interview with Stephen Colbert.

Wednesday, he appeared on Seth Meyers’ show, where he again declined to admit to any wrongdoing, but stated that he supports the rights of women to come forward with such accusations.

“This is a conversation that obviously needs to be had,” he told Meyers.

“There are people, women and others, who have not been a part of this conversation and I truly believe that they need to be. So I support that.”

Asked if he had contacted Sheedy to ask why she felt compelled to publicly call him out, Franco became visibly uncomfortable.

“I don’t know. I … It was so shocking. I don’t know. I just … I guess I’m just letting it be,” he said.

We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Michelle Rounds: Cause of Death Revealed Following Autopsy?

The autopsy for Michelle Rounds, the ex-wife of Rosie O’Donnell, has been completed, according to multiple media reports.

What have we learned about her tragic passing?

Michelle Rounds and Rosie

A spokesperson for the Orange County (Fla.) Medical Examiner’s office tells ET that the cause of the 46-year-old’s passing is pending.

“At this point, the doctor has pended the case,” the spokesperson explained of Michelle Rounds’ death Friday of last week.

“There was no trauma to the body, but the doctor wanted to [conduct] further laboratory tests before she made a decision.”

“Talking about any case, we do toxicology testing on almost every decedent that comes through our office,” the spokesperson added.

The ME’s office said this isn’t cause for suspicion, but “one of those things that when the doctor pends it usually means they are looking at.”

“Was it natural causes, or was it an accidental death or a suicide depending on the results of the testing.”

Rounds died unexpectedly at home last week.

“I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy,” O’Donnell said. “Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families.”

A shocked Rosie added in her statement, “my thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife Krista, and their child.”

The former spouses, who broke up in 2014 after a tumultuous relationship, share a four-year-old daughter together, Dakota.

Michelle was open about her battle with mental illness, and while her cause of death is pending, it likely proved fatal in some way.

After meeting at an industry event in 2011, she married O’Donnell the following year, beginning an incredibly turbulent marriage.

That isn’t to say there weren’t bright spots O’Donnell and Rounds’ daughter was born in 2013, which she called the best part of her life.

Sadly, the couple split in 2015 after months of serious fighting; Rounds attempted suicide soon after by overdosing on prescription painkillers.

With the passage of time, O’Donnell and Rounds reportedly worked out an amicable co-parenting relationship after their divorce.

While Rounds moved on to a new and relationship free of drama and tabloid scrutiny, it seems she was never able to escape her demons.

Michelle’s mother also released a statement last week that seems to have implicitly verified that Rounds had taken her own life:

“If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated,” wrote Michelle’s mother.

“There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out,” Rounds’ mother added.

In a bit of tragic irony, her death comes during Suicide Prevention Month, and on the heels of other notable celebrity suicides.

The steadily-worsening epidemic, and least in celebrity circles, dates back to Robin Williams’ unexpected passing in 2014.

Recent victims such as rock greats Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington have brought renewed attention to the issue.

If you or anyone you know is battling thoughts of self-harm, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Please don’t delay.

Michelle Rounds Dead of Apparent Suicide; Ex Wife of Rosie O"Donnell Was 46

Michelle Rounds, the ex-wife of media personality Rosie O’Donnell, has passed away at the age of 46.

Though no official cause of death has been announced, TMZ is reporting that Rounds appears to have taken her own life.

Rounds had been open about her struggles with mental illness over the years, and tragically, it seems the battle proved fatal.

After meeting at an industry event in 2011, Rounds and O’Donnell got married the following year.

Their time together was turbulent, marred by frequent fighting and Rounds’ persistent health issues.

But there were bright spots, as well.

O’Donnell and Rounds welcomed a daughter together in 2013, and Michelle described the months that followed as the happiest in her life.

Sadly, it was a period that wouldn’t last.

Rounds and O’Donnell separated in 2015 after months of intense fighting.

Just months later Rounds attempted suicide by overdosing on prescription painkillers.

She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors were able to save her life.

Though Rounds moved on to a new and reportedly far less tumultuous relationship, it seems she was never able to escape her demons.

After was said to be a period of emotional stability, Rounds reportedly experienced a recurrence of symptoms in recent weeks.

O’Donnell issued a statement on her former wife’s death just moments ago:

“I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy,” O’Donnell wrote.

“Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child.”

They though often fought bitterly during their marriage, O’Donnell and Rounds reportedly worked out an amicable co-parenting relationship after their divorce.

Michelle’s mother also released a statement and seems to have implicitly verified that Rounds had taken her own life:

“If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated,” wrote Michelle’s mother.

“There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out.”

Though O’Donnell and Rounds’ marriage was short, the couples’ dramatic fights and outspoken stances on topical issues briefly made Rounds a staple in the tabloid media.

As a result, many celebrities and media figures have taken to social media to mourn Michelle’s passing.

“Such a devastating loss. Sending so much strength and peace to her loved ones,” Perez Hilton tweeted, along with a link to an article about Rounds’ death.

Though she worked as a consultant for most of her adult life, Rounds easy charm and quick wit made her a popular figure in Rosie’s circle of celebrity friends.

In a bit of tragic irony, her death comes during Suicide Prevention Month.

Rounds is now the latest in a disturbingly long line of celebrity suicides.

The steadily-worsening epidemic dates back to Robin Williams’ unexpected passing in 2014.

Recent victims such as rock stars Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington have brought new attention to the issue.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from thoughts of self-harm, we urge you to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Please don’t delay.

Our thoughts go out to Rounds’ family during this tremendously difficult time.

The Voice Recap: Who Made the Cut for the Battle Rounds?

The Voice is a popular reality series, but each season can never really match the momentum drummed up during the Blind Auditions stage.

NBC took note of this and recently expanded the auditions to seven episodes. Now, that’s a bit excessive – especially when you consider that it’s becoming the Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani show.

Their relationship may be going great, but they are always sparring during scenes that are blatantly fabricated for their limited fan base. Okay, we like love, but not when it’s creating obnoxious situations like these two losers are.

They need to understand that less is more.

With that very much now out in the open, who made it through to the next stage of the competition?

We have the full round-up below!

Vanessa Ferguson

31-year-old North Carolina Native, Vanessa, opened the night with her rendition of “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers.

Being a fan of Alicia Keys may just work in Alicia’s favor because the woman has what it takes to make it far into the competition. Her vocals were strong, and you could tell she LOVED having an audience.

Alicia seemed to think she had won the lottery with Vanessa and there’s a good chance she’s right. With the addition of Vanessa, that left each coach with one spot left.

Dawson Coyle

The teenagers have been a force to be reckoned with throughout the auditions, and Dawson Coyle continued that trend. With a harrowing story about his family surviving a fire, the New Jersey native proved that his success would not be built on that story.

In fact, it would be built on a stellar performance of “Happiness” by Needtobreathe. It hit all of the right notes and won the teen a spot on Country singer, Blake’s team.

Whether Blake will be able to nurture another winner to take the title, we have no idea, but we’re willing to watch him try … so long as that means no more forced affection with Gwen. YUCK.

Jozy Bernadette

25-year-old Jozy went with “American Woman” by The Guess Who. It was decent, but it could have been better. Thankfully, Gwen is all about looking for development opportunities with her singers.

That’s part of the reason why Jozy clinched the last spot on Team Gwen. It probably had a lot to do with her bubbly personality and that she would probably tell Gwen how lovely she looks on demand.

Kidding aside, Gwen was a good fit for Jozy.

Sheena Brook

Sheena Brooke went with “Baby Girl” by Sugarland. With Blake already bursting at the seams with talent, Adam looked ecstatic when Sheena emerged as a Country singer.

Country artists have a knack for performing well on the show, so it made sense for Adam to take a chance on Sheena. To be fair, Sheena turned in a solid performance.

It was nothing to sneeze at, that’s for sure. Will Blake try and steal her? Probably.

Chris Blue

Alicia had one more space left on her team, so she knew she had to make her last addition worthy of her time. Enter Chris Blue, who had quite the strong voice.

He blew everyone away with “The Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. Alicia managed to find someone who could easily make it very far in the process.

With the auditions out of the way, NBC teased that a recap special will air tomorrow to get viewers up to speed on how it all played out.

Yes, we don’t understand their logic, either. Next week, the battle rounds will kick off.

What did you think of the final part of the auditions?

Michelle Rounds: Estranged Wife of Rosie O"Donnell Attempts Suicide

Back in February, Michelle Rounds and Rosie O’Donnell separated after two years of marriage.

The split seemed to be somewhat amicable, but the divorce has yet to be finalized, and sources say the past month has put a serious strain on Rounds’ and O’Donnell’s relationship as co-parents.

First, O’Donnell’s teenage daughter went missing, and has now chosen to move in with her birth mother.

Shortly thereafter, it was reported that Rosie is dating Tatum O’Neal, and the couple is rumored to be living together less than a year after the end of O’Donnell and Rounds’ marriage.

Now, Radar Online is reporting that Rounds attempted suicide last night, and is currently under observation in an Upstate New York hospital.

“She had apparently taken some pills and drank wine,” an insider tells the website. “It looked to be a suicide attempt ”

Obviously, we have no way of knowing what might have driven Rounds to take such drastic action, but the source says her ongoing family struggles have been weighing heavily on the 43-year-old’s mind in recent weeks.

“Michelle was very depressed lately over the divorce and custody battle with Rosie,” the insider claims. “In fact, in the past few days her and Rosie spoke and they had a bitter argument.”

Rounds is reportedly conscious and in good health. She is expected to be released from the hospital later this week. O’Donnell has yet to comment publicly on the matter.
