L.B. Bonner Autopsy Confirms Cause of Reality Star"s Death

We have an official follow-up on the tragic death of L.B. Bonner.

As previously detailed to the best of our ability, the former 600-lb Life star was found dead last week in park in Lexington, South Carolina.

Initial reports, however, made it unclear just how Bonner passed away, although all signs pointed to suicide and certain outlets said Bonner’s was discovered in a ditch.

Thanks to the official coroner’s report, we can now confirm this very sad piece of news:

L.B. Bonner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

It does still remain unclear, however, just what prompted someone inside Bonner’s home to call 911 because he or she was concerned about the former TLC star’s well-being.

This is what led to an officer arriving on the scene and eventually finding Bonner’s corpse.

Such a detail is unimportant at this point; there are just so many questions to ponder any time someone commits suicide.

Prior to his death, Bonner shared a Facebook message in which he thanked everyone for their support and said he needed to “face his demons.”

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support throughout my journey,” he wrote in this post, adding:

“I’ve realized a few things over the last few days and its time that I face my demons head on.”

He added, in what effectively served as a suicide note:

No matter what you change or the efforts you put forth in life, sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and deal with things your own way.

Again, thank y’all so much. Please don’t ever let people you care about not know how you feel…

This post served as quite a troubling change from Bonner’s usual presence on Facebook.

As evidenced by a message he penned mere days before he killed himself, Bonner often started each morning with an inspiring set of words.

In 2013, Bonner lost his leg in a car crash and later turned to food and alcohol to cope with the loss.

He weighed 650 pounds at the time he started filming My 600-lb Life.

Over the course of his stint on the series, though, the 30-year-old got sober and underwent a lap-band surgery, which led to him losing over 400 pounds.

He was considered by viewers and producers to be one of the program’s most impressive success stories.

But it was clear, to anyone that paid close attention, that Bonner often struggled with his mental health.

In June, he shared a photo of the late Robin Williams (who committed suicide) on Instagram with the saying: “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind. ALWAYS.”

Wrote Bonner as his caption:

“This is so true, step out your comfort zone to be kind.”

In the wake of his passing, TLC released a statement that read:

James “LB” Bonner, who appeared on this past season of My 600-lb Life, has sadly passed away.

On the show, viewers saw LB struggle with obesity following a tragic accident that claimed his right leg. Even though he once weighed 650 pounds, LB’s hard work and dedication helped get him in the 200-pound range.

His spirit and determination as displayed through his story, quickly made LB a fan-favorite, and family & friends have taken to LB’s Facebook page to commemorate his life.

TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB’s passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on My 600-lb Life.

Eric Bolling Jr.: Autopsy Reveals Surprising Cause of Death

Last month, college student Eric Chase Bolling Jr. died suddenly at the age of 19.

The news came just weeks after the boy’s father, Eric Bolling, was suspended from Fox News for allegedly harassing his female colleagues.

In the immediate wake of the tragedy, several news outlets reported that the younger Bolling had committed suicide in response to his father’s humiliating scandal.

Early reports about Bolling Jr.’s cause of death seemed to confirm those reports, as authorities attributed his passing to multiple drug toxicity.

However, questions about Eric’s motive in ingesting the substances remained.

Was this a case of a son taking his own life in response to his father’s fall from grace?

Or is this yet another accidental overdose story–the kind we hear far too often these days?

We may never receive a definitive answer, but it seems that authorities who investigated the death of Eric Chase Bolling Jr. are now favoring the latter explanation.

The news that Eric’s overdose appears to have been accidental was shared by his father on Twitter yesterday:

“Just received some tragic news from Coroner in Colorado. Eric Chase’s passing has been ruled an accidental overdose that included opioids,” wrote Bolling Sr.

“Adrienne and I thank you for your continued prayers and support. We must fight against this national epidemic, too many innocent victims,” he added.

While multiple drugs were found in Eric Jr.’s system, it seems it was indeed the controversial prescription painkiller fentanyl that claimed his life.

According to the coroner’s report released this week, the official cause of Eric’s death was “accidental overdose.”

The report attributes his passing to the “presence of cocaine, cyclopropyl fentanyl, and fentanyl in decedent’s system.”

The news comes on the heels of the Trump administration’s declaration that the opioid crisis is now a national public health emergency.

According to a recent survey, drug overdoses are up nearly 700 percent since 1990, with opioids accounting for the majority of the 64,000 deaths recorded last year.

Our thoughts go out to Eric Bolling and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Aaron Hernandez: Late NFL Star Suffered "Severe CTE," Autopsy Reveals

It’s quite possible that there’s no more tragic story in the history of professional football than that of Aaron Hernandez.

Back in 2015, Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Odin Lloyd.

In April, the world was shocked by the news that Hernandez had taken his own life inside his cell at the Souza-Barankowski Correctional Facility in Lancaster, Massachusetts.

Today, Hernandez’s autopsy results have been made public, and they confirm what many who followed his case closely have long suspected.

Doctors have revealed to The New York Times that the 27-year-old was suffering from CTE, a brain injury that’s shockingly common to football players.

According to the Times a team of neurologists stated that their examination revealed “the most severe case they had ever seen in someone of Aaron’s age.”

Sadly, the news does not come as much of a surprise.

CTE has had devastating effects on innumerable football players, both professional and otherwise.

The condition has been linked to the suicides of Junior Seau and Tyler Sash, the decline of late New York Giants legend Frank Gifford, and countless other NFL stars.

It seems impossible that we’ll ever understand the full impact of the disease on America’s best-loved sport.

But today, we know a little bit more about the devastating impact it’s had on Aaron Hernandez, Odin Lloyd, and their loved ones.

Now, Hernandez’s fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, is suing the NFL and the New England Patriots as a result of the diagnosis.

Lawyers for Jenkins claim “Aaron had stage 3 CTE usually seen in players with a median age of death of 67 years.”

The suit filed this afternoon claims that the Patriots “were fully aware of the damage that could be inflicted from repetitive impact injuries and failed to disclose, treat or protect him from the dangers of such damage.”

Attorneys say that Jenkins, who has a 4-year-old daughter with Hernandez, is seeking “redress for the loss of parental consortium she has experienced based on the negligent conduct of Defendants that deprived her of the companionship and society of her father, Aaron Hernandez.”

The suit concludes by stating bluntly:

“On April 19, 2017, Aaron succumbed to the symptoms of CTE and committed suicide.”

We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Michelle Rounds: Cause of Death Revealed Following Autopsy?

The autopsy for Michelle Rounds, the ex-wife of Rosie O’Donnell, has been completed, according to multiple media reports.

What have we learned about her tragic passing?

Michelle Rounds and Rosie

A spokesperson for the Orange County (Fla.) Medical Examiner’s office tells ET that the cause of the 46-year-old’s passing is pending.

“At this point, the doctor has pended the case,” the spokesperson explained of Michelle Rounds’ death Friday of last week.

“There was no trauma to the body, but the doctor wanted to [conduct] further laboratory tests before she made a decision.”

“Talking about any case, we do toxicology testing on almost every decedent that comes through our office,” the spokesperson added.

The ME’s office said this isn’t cause for suspicion, but “one of those things that when the doctor pends it usually means they are looking at.”

“Was it natural causes, or was it an accidental death or a suicide depending on the results of the testing.”

Rounds died unexpectedly at home last week.

“I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy,” O’Donnell said. “Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families.”

A shocked Rosie added in her statement, “my thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife Krista, and their child.”

The former spouses, who broke up in 2014 after a tumultuous relationship, share a four-year-old daughter together, Dakota.

Michelle was open about her battle with mental illness, and while her cause of death is pending, it likely proved fatal in some way.

After meeting at an industry event in 2011, she married O’Donnell the following year, beginning an incredibly turbulent marriage.

That isn’t to say there weren’t bright spots O’Donnell and Rounds’ daughter was born in 2013, which she called the best part of her life.

Sadly, the couple split in 2015 after months of serious fighting; Rounds attempted suicide soon after by overdosing on prescription painkillers.

With the passage of time, O’Donnell and Rounds reportedly worked out an amicable co-parenting relationship after their divorce.

While Rounds moved on to a new and relationship free of drama and tabloid scrutiny, it seems she was never able to escape her demons.

Michelle’s mother also released a statement last week that seems to have implicitly verified that Rounds had taken her own life:

“If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated,” wrote Michelle’s mother.

“There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out,” Rounds’ mother added.

In a bit of tragic irony, her death comes during Suicide Prevention Month, and on the heels of other notable celebrity suicides.

The steadily-worsening epidemic, and least in celebrity circles, dates back to Robin Williams’ unexpected passing in 2014.

Recent victims such as rock greats Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington have brought renewed attention to the issue.

If you or anyone you know is battling thoughts of self-harm, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Please don’t delay.

Bobbi Kristina Brown"s Family: We Want a New Autopsy to Prove Nick Gordon"s Guilt!

With Nick Gordon’s arrest for domestic violence and investigators building the case for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death considering that arrest to be evidence, it looks like he’s going to have some prison time in his future.

But the question of how much will depend on prosecution and on evidence, and a new report suggests that Bobbi Kristina’s family is willing to pull out all of the stops to make sure that he goes away.

Even if that means exhuming Bobbi Kristina’s body for a new autopsy.

According to RadarOnline, Bobbi Kristina’s family wants an exhumation and a second autopsy to make sure that any and all evidence needed for Nick Gordon’s arrest and conviction is found.

“I think they should exhume Bobbi Kristina’s body, and make a determination as to the fact that Nick Gordon murdered her. He was responsible for her death!”

That comes from a family source, RadarOnline reports.

Unfortunately, even though Bobbi Kristina’s still-grieving family may not want to accept it, autopsies don’t always yield conclusive answers.

Even when autopsies definitely show that someone was murdered, that doesn’t mean that they contain evidence that points to the killer.

This isn’t some decades-old cold case dating back to before DNA could be sampled from a few epithelial cells.

Bobbi Kristina died on July 26th, 2015 … after spending 6 months in a coma.

And that was after being found unresponsive in her bathtub, which was massively suspicious.

An extended hospital stay and the bathwater itself would have made an autopsy much less helpful.

We have to remember that, at the time, the priority was the attempt to save her life.

If someone were buried immediately after death, there’s sometimes some bruising that wouldn’t show up right away that might be found with an exhumation and autopsy.

Six months after the events that caused someone’s death, though … if that’s your best autopsy, then no later autopsies are going to yield much, unless we wait a few decades for forensic tech that’s currently science fiction.

We know that they’re hurting over this, but this would put them through more suffering and wouldn’t bring them any of the closure that they seek.

And we can’t see it helping the case against Nick Gordon.

The claims from this family source get a little more intense from there.

“The new case demonstrates Nick’s pattern of abuse against women. His father was abusive. His grandfather was abusive. It’s in his DNA! That’s why he can’t stop!”

Okay, to be clear, there’s no evidence that genetics work that way.

Addiction struggles or anger issues could certainly have powerful genetic factors.

But if there’s a domestic violence gene, science has yet to prove it.

(We’re oversimplifying genetics, we know, since genes themselves can simply be active or inactive at different times to different effects, but still)

We’re not arguing that Nick Gordon doesn’t have a horrifying pattern of behavior.

We’re just suggesting that genes probably aren’t the primary factor here.

If somebody comes from a line of abusers and is abusive himself, it’s probably a learned behavior.

A lot of abusive parents are that way because they were raised in abusive households.

(Though they wouldn’t use that label for their parents any more than for themselves)

Similarly, a lot of partner-abusers learned that behavior from a parent.

There are things that can help put Nick Gordon behind bars.

Obviously, his current arrest is a major part of that.

Nick Gordon’s latest alleged victim sees clear parallels to Bobbi Kristina and says that she could have died the same way.

It’s worth noting that her case — she talks about being held down and beaten until she thought she might die, only escaping because she managed to hit him with a candlestick and run, bleeding, to his mother for sanctuary — is its own thing.

Like, that kind of monstrous assault that she describes deserves the most severe penalties that the justice system can offer, and then some.

We shouldn’t look at her case exclusively as evidence for Nick Gordon’s eventual murder trial (which we don’t know will even happen).

That said, authorities are building their case and carefully reviewing evidence related to Bobbi Kristina’s death.

Nobody wants a repeat of OJ Simpson or Casey Anthony or George Zimmerman or … well, the list goes on.

Nobody wants a deadlocked jury like with Bill Cosby, either.

That means building a solid case with great care.

It also means not rushing things — it’s not unusual for a case to take years to build.

We totally understand that Bobbi Kristina’s family is eager for justice.

Just as millions of fans and admirers are, but infinitely more personally.

But we all need to keep in mind that rushing through things won’t bring her justice.

Patience, folks.
