Kristen Bell Honors Dax Shepard for 14 Years of Sobriety

We’ve heard the parenting stories of Kristen Bell getting anal worms, but we’ve also heard less lighthearted stories, such as Dax Shepard’s struggle with addiction.

He has been sober since 2004, and his beautiful wife Kristen has written a powerful and heartwarming tribute to honor his 14 years of sobriety.

Take a look:

“To the man mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy,” Kristen’s post begins.

She goes on, describing him as the man “who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible.”

On a sadder note, Kristen says: “Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down,”

“I know how much you loved using,” Kristen writes.

“I know how much it got in your way,” she continues. “And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it.”

“I will forever be in awe of your dedication,” Kristen says. “And the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night.”

“You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed,” Kristen says, heaping praise on him.

“You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends,” Kristen continues. “With open ears and tough love when its needed most.”

Kristen writes: “You have become the fertilizer in the garden of our life, encouraging everyone to grow.”

That is really, really beautiful — even if she did kind of just refer to him as manure.

“I’m so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story,” she continues. “But instead shared it widel.”

She explains that he does this “with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves.”

Meaning that he’s not just trying to help others with drug issues, but everyone.

“You have certainly inspired me to do so,” Kristen gushes.

She continues: “I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you.”

“I see how hard you work,” Kristen acknowledges. “You set an excellent example of being human.”

Clearly, in Kristen’s eyes, the only improvement that her husband could make on himself is if he were to become an excellent example of a sloth.

“Happy 14th year sobriety birthday, @daxshepard,” Kristen writes.

She signs off with: “Xoxo.”

In case anyone has somehow forgotten, Kristen was the voice of the titular character on Gossip Girl.

Dax has spoken about his addiction story in the past.

After being molested as a child, he developed a drug habit in his late teens — and says that only about 20% of childhood sex abuse survivors end up not having one addiction or another.

It takes an incredible amount of strength and determination to overcome addiction. Dax’s story is a powerful and inspirational one.

We are so glad that he and his wife were able to get their happily ever after and grow their family.

We hope that his story will continue to inspire others to transform their lives.

Sam Shepard Dies; Veteran Actor Was 73

Sam Shepard, a long-time actor, playwright and director, has passed away at the age of 73.

Broadway World was the first website to report this sad news and no other details are available at this time.

Shepard was a well-respected star of the big screen and of the stage, having penned an incredible 44 plays and numerous books throughout his career.

He won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for the play Buried Child and was also nominated for an Academy Award for the role of Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff in 1983.

At one time, New York magazine dubbed Shepard “the greatest American playwright of his generation.”

Shepard was born on November 5, 1943 and started his acting career opposite Richard Gere and Brooke Adams in 1978’s Days of Heaven.

He later received praise for his work in 1980’s Resurrection, prior to his Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Right Stuff three years later.

By the mid-1980s, with the film adaption of his play Fool for Love, Shepard was successfully straddling the worlds of play-writing and acting.

He ended up on a cover of Newsweek as a result.

Shepard was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1986 and elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences that same year.

His is survived by his three children from his marriage to O-Lan Jones and from his relationship with Jessica Lange.

The late star was married to Jones from 1969 until their divorce in 1984; while his relationship with Lange lasted from 1982 until 2009, when they broke up.

Wrote Broadway World upon reporting on Shepard’s death:

“[His] plays are chiefly known for their bleak, poetic, often surrealist elements, black humor and rootless characters living on the outskirts of American society.

“His style has evolved over the years, from the absurdism of his early Off-Off-Broadway work to the realism of Buried Child and Curse of the Starving Class.”

His most recent work was in the Netflix show Bloodline, in which he appeared as the character of Robert Rayburn.

May Sam Shepard rest in peace.

Shepard Smith Ask Trump and Co., "Why all the Lies?"

FNC Anchor Shepard Smith is incredulous, blasting President Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Jr. Jared Kushner and the whole White House gang for repeatedly lying about their contacts with Russia during the 2016 election. Smith couldn’t hide his…

Shepard Smith to Donald Trump: You Owe Us Answers!

Donald Trump may need to add Fox News to his list of failing, biased, no good, very bad, terrible, fake news outlets.

On Thursday evening, not long after Trump held his most bat $ hit crazy press conference to date, Shepard Smith took a few moments on air to respond to the President"s many whines and complaints.

Earlier in the day, Trump had once again blasted the media, saying most newspapers will not tell readers "the truth."

He added that journalists are "trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on pledges that we made, and they"re not happy about it, for whatever reason."

At one point, Trump denied all reports that his administration was in "chaos," claiming it was a "fine-tuned machine."

But Smith wasn"t having it.

A month after sticking up for CNN and slamming Trump on air, the Fox News anchor truly went off on the Commander-in-Chief.

"It’s crazy what we’re watching everyday, it’s absolutely crazy," Smith told a guest o Trump.

"He keeps repeating ridiculous throwaway lines that are not true at all and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia, as if we’re some kind of fools for asking the question.”

He continued:

“Really? Your opposition was hacked, and the Russians were responsible for it, and your people were on the phone with Russia on the same day it was happening, and we’re fools for asking the questions? No, sir, we are not fools for asking this question, and we demand to know the answer to this question.

"You owe this to the American people.”

Trump stood at his podium and ranted like a lunatic just days after General Michael Flynn resigned as National Security Advisor due to his illegal contact with Russian officials.

Flynn lied about this contact to Trump and others U.S. government representatives.

“We have a right to know, we absolutely do, and that you call us ‘fake news’ and put us down like children for asking this question is inconsequential," Smith added. "The people deserve that answer.”

Shepard Smith Defends CNN, Slams Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been right all along, folks:

He really can bring people together.

On Wednesday afternoon, the President-Elect held a joke of a press conference, skipping over various questions; lashing out at reporters; and handing over a bulk of the event to his attorney.

But the most talked-about takeaway from the gathering was when Trump blasted CNN, refusing to even take a question from journalist Jim Acosta because he believes the network peddled "fake news" while relaying information on Trump"s alleged ties to Russia.

The truth, of course, is that CNN merely reported that Trump and President Obama were made aware of an unverified intelligence report that outlined Trump"s rumored relationship to The Kremlin.

It did not reveal any details pertaining to this relationship at all.

Outraged over Trump"s treatment of a fellow member of the press, Shepard Smith took the shocking step last night of sticking up for his rival news network.

"President-elect Trump today told CNN’s Jim Acosta his organization amounts to fake news," Smith said to conclude his bradcast, adding:

"CNN’s exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property.

"Though we at Fox News cannot confirm CNN’s report, it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States."

Watch Smith deliver this unexpected defense of CNN below, salute the anchor and then wonder: Where does the media go from here with Trump?

Dax Shepard Reveals Heartbreaking Story Behind His Addiction

He’s one half of the cutest couple EVER, and comes off as a genuine sweetheart.

So it was a little hard to hear about the specifics of Dax Shepard’s past struggle with addiction, and being molested as a child.

The Parenthood star went on SiriusXM’s The Jason Ellis Show on April 18th, opening up about past trauma, and what that trauma has led to.

“It took me 12 years to tell anyone,” Shepard, 41, said, according to Page Six.

“And then all that time, I was like … ‘It’s my fault,’ as generic as that is, I’m like, I’m gay, I must have manifested this because I’m secretly gay.’

“I had all these insane thoughts for 11 years or 12 years.”

Shepard claimed that the molestation was “minimal,” but believes that contributed to his battle with addiction that started when he was 18.  His mother works as a court-appointed advocate for foster kids, and came across a statistic that connections molestation with addiction.

“If you’ve been molested, you only have a 20 percent chance of not being an addict,” Shepard said.

“And I was like, ‘Hm, interesting,’ because in my mind I just like to have a f—–g great time. But when you hear a statistic like that, I’m like, ‘Oh no, I was going to be an addict, period.’ ”

Shepard has been sober since 2004.
