Angela McEwan Dies; Beloved Actress Was 81

Angela McEwan – the actress who started her career at the age of 70 and went on to put in a number of acclaimed performances in A-list projects  – has passed away at 81.

According to a statement from McEwan’s family, the mother of two died from lung cancer complications.

McEwan set out to become an actress early in life, but gave up on her career in order to raise a family and work as Spanosh language interpreter.

Angela became a living testament to the fact that it’s never too late to follow your dreams when she returned to Hollywood after her husband retired from his career as a gastroenterologist, and instantly started landing roles in high-profile film and television projects.

Over the course of her 11-year career, Angela appeared in episodes of New Girl, Parks and Recreation, and HBO’s Getting On.

However, it was her role in director Alexander Payne’s Academy Award-nominated 2013 film, Nebraska, for which McEwan is best remembered.

McEwan played a small-town newspaper editor in what The New Yorker called “the loveliest, most poignant scene in the film.”

MceWan is survived by her two sons and three grandchildren. She credits her late career renaissance to the acting lessons that she took in her early 70s.
