The Real Housewives of Potomac Premiere Recap: WTH is Potomac?!

Yes, the Real Housewives of Potomac is a real show.

The latest spinoff of Bravo’s Housewives franchise follows the lives of women in Potomac, Maryland, just outside our nation’s capital.

There, six affluent area divas battle for supremacy.

Yes, the formula is pretty boilerplate, and clearly successful. The only question is whether fans care about getting to know a new cast.

To wit, The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 1 Episode 1, titled “Mind Your Manners,” did its best to introduce us to them in style.

That style is a little different than what we’re used to.

The requisite introductions to Karen Huger, Charrisse Jackson Jordan, Katie Rost, Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby told us a fair amount.

About their personalities, yes, but also the show – the location, the culture – in general. Folks are obsessed with etiquette like whoa.

Let’s just say Brooks Ayers faking cancer or Aviva Drescher throwing her leg aren’t likely to be storylines seen in Potomac this year.

Just outside Washington, D.C., Potomac is “a town where entry is granted only through class, pedigree, and lineage,” or so we’re told.

It’s all about “etiquette,” through and through.

There are those who follow the rules and those who don’t, and that divide leads to some conflict … we know, we’re as shocked as you.

So will RHOP stick around and become a hit for the network like its Orange County, Atlanta, Beverly Hills and New York counterparts?
