Yesterday, the world learned that music legend Prince passed away at the age of 57.
The loss to the world of pop culture is immeasurable, but the purple lining to this dark cloud is the treasure trove of memorable moments that the Internet is rediscovering in the wake of Prince’s passing:
Obviously, it’s the man’s musical performances that will leave the most indelible mark, but he also blessed us with moments such as the one above, in which he unceremoniously booted Kim Kardashian off stage at one of his concerts.
The hilarious incident took place after Prince (possibly under the misconception that Kim is famous as a result of some sort of talent) welcomed the reality star on stage where she awkwardly froze in place before a jeering crowd.
Never one to let a confused sex tape actress stand in the way of one of his famously riveting performances, Prince finally took mercy on Kim, instructing her to “get off stage.”
Kim later tweeted that he gave her a second chance later in the night:
“Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!”
Not surprisingly, there’s no known footage of Kim’s redemption.
Ms. Kardashian-West’s humiliation is the Internet’s gain today, and the clip has offered a moment of levity for countless mourning Prince fans over the past 24 hours.
No harm was done, and we’re sure Kim is able to laugh at herself all these years later.
And we know Prince would get a chuckle out of this moment re-emerging to provide a respite from the grief.
It reminds us that Prince was more than just a musical genius – he was also a wickedly witty, one-of-a-kind figure who, by all accounts, enjoyed himself to the fullest up to the very end.
As the Purple One himself so memorably reminded us, “Life is just a party, and parties weren’t meant to last.”
