Avicii Loved Ones Feared He Would Kill Himself, Rushed to Prevent Suicide

According to a recent report, Avicii talked to his loved ones just hours before he took his own life two weeks ago.

Based on this conversation and the DJ’s behavior/mindset/attitude during it, Avicii’s feared the worst.

They feared that Avicii would take his own life.

“The family was aware that Tim felt bad. It went up and down, but when he was in Oman, it became worse,” a source close to the family told the Swedish website Stoppa Pressarna.

This insider added:

“When they talked to Tim on the phone they became worried. The family realized that it was really bad and that one had to act.”

This article goes on to say that one family member immediately hopped on on a flight to the Middle East, but it was too late:

When the family member (believed to be Avicii’s brother) arrived in the city of Muscat, Avicii had already committed suicide.

As previously detailed, the beloved musician killed himself at the young age of 28, following years of admitted substance abuse and anxiety.

In 2016, Avicii took a hiatus from touring due to health issues (he was previously diagnosed with pancreatitis), both mental and physical.

He confessed to partying too much and feeling ongoing pressure to be a global success.

Earlier this week, TMZ quoted an insider who said the Swedish DJ used a shard of glass to fatally wound himself.

It’s unclear whether he cut himself on the wrist or on the neck, but it’s become evident that Avicii struggled tremendously with his place in the world.

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” read a recent family statement, shedding some light on what transpired with their relative.

This statement continued:

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.

“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”

Based on those final two sentences, it was assumed by most fans that Avicii did, indeed, kill himself.

And now that has been confirmed.

But this was the first we heard of the phone call between the late DJ and his family members.

It’s heartbreaking, isn’t it?

The hitmaker bled to death while on vacation on the aforementioned Arabian peninsula on Friday, April 20.

“It’s terrible for the family, an unusual sense of powerlessness and frustration that Tim left them in such young years,” the source told the website cited above, concluding:

“It’s a big tragedy. He was really a great guy.”

This really does seem to be the case.

In the wake of this suicide, those in entertainment took to social media to express their thoughts and their condolences.

You can read those tributes HERE.

We continue to send our own best wishes and to send our own prayers to everyone who knew Avicii best.

We simply loved his music. We can’t imagine what this must be like for those close to the musician.

May he rest in peace.

Avicii Update: Cause of Death Confirmed, Tragic

We can now confirm that Avicii killed himself.

Following a couple weeks of speculation and innuendo about the way this beloved DJ died, TMZ reports that the 28-year old did, indeed, take his own life.

We were first alerted to this possibility a few days ago after Avicii’s parents released a statement in which they used his real name and said the following:

Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.

An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.

He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.

Those final two lines, of course, were what really stood about and got people talking about this message.

According to TMZ insiders, Avicii used a shard of glass to cut himself, resulting massive bleeding.

Two sources tell the aforementioned website that the artist broke a bottle and used the glass from its remains to inflict the fatal wound.

One of the sources even specifies that it was a wine bottle.

These insiders apparently disagree on whether the musician sliced open his neck or his wrists with the glass.

A promoter of EDM music and a DJ with worldwide appeal, along with a string of well-known hits, Avicii was found dead on April 20 in the Middle Eastern country of Oman.

He battled alcohol problems for years and his friends worried those concerned would eventually kill him.

In our most recent update about how the DJ died, we quoted the Muscat Governorate Police Headquarters (via Radar Online), who claimed that drugs were found in Avicii’s hotel room.

We cannot report that with certainty, however.

Said the star’s publicist upon announcing his client’s tragic death last month:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th.

“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

Except Avicii’s family did then give a lengthy statement three days later.

“We would like to thank you for the support and the loving words about our son and brother,” it read, continuing as follows:

“We are so grateful for everyone who loved Tim’s music and have precious memories of his songs.

“Thank you for all the initiatives taken to honor Tim, with public gatherings, church bells ringing out his music, tributes at Coachella and moments of silence around the world.

“We are grateful for the privacy during this difficult time. Our wish is that it continues that way. With love, The Tim Bergling Family.”

Tragic stuff.

We also hope that Avicii has at last found peace.

We continue to send our thoughts to his family members, friends and loved ones.

Avicii Cause of Death Update: Drugs Found Near Late DJ"s Body

Last week, the music world was rocked by the news that world-renowned hitmaker Avicii had passed away at the age of 28.

Rumors about Avicii’s cause of death began to circulate almost immediately, with several outlets reporting that his unexpected passing was the result of lingering health issues resulting from a lifelong struggle with alcoholism.

Now, however, there’s reason to believe that may not have been the case.

Earlier today, the family of the late artist – whose real name was Tim Bergling – issued a statement in which they implied that Avicii may have taken his own life.

Now, an official close to the investigation has revealed that drugs were found at the scene of Bergling’s death.

“I do know drugs were found on the scene,” a spokesperson at the Muscat Governorate Police Headquarters tells Radar Online.

Avicii’s lifeless body was found in the city of Muscat, Oman, but little is known about the condition in which it was found, or why the DJ had traveled to the country.

The statement published today by his family does not explicitly state that Avicii committed suicide, but it suggests that he was crippled by his struggles with anxiety and depression in the weeks before his death.

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” the statement reads.

“An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.”

The statement references Avicii’s decision to retire from touring in order to focus on his health following a pancreatitis diagnosis:

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music,” the family writes.

“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace,” the statement continued.

“Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

“Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family.”

We will have additional updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Avicii Update: Did the DJ Commit Suicide?

The family of Avicii has issued its second statement of the week.

And this latest message appears to shed some revealing light on just what happened to the late DJ.

First, as previously reported, it’s worth mentioning that Avicii was found dead last Friday at the young age of 28.

The Swedish musician was in Muscat, Oman the time and the details surrounding his passing have been shrouded in mystery ever since the sad news was broken by his publicist.

Was Avicii’s death related to a former diagnosis of pancreatitis?

Was it related to the DJ’s hard-partying lifestyle, which prompted Avicii to take a hiatus from touring a couple years ago?

We still don’t know for certain.

Now, however, the aforementioned statement from Avicii’s loved ones makes it seem as if the artist took his own life.

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” opens this statement, which then continues as follows:

“An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.

“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”

We need to stop right there for a minute.

The last thing we want to do is speculate on the Avicii cause of death here, but he could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace?

It’s difficult to interpret this part of the statement as anything other than an admission that Avicii committed suicide.

The statement concludes:

Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed.

The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive.

Two days ago, these same family members issued their first statement since Avicii passed away.

It read:

“We would like to thank you for the support and the loving words about our son and brother.

Our wish is that it continues that way.”

The DJ was known as an early support of the EDM movement, bringing that type of music to clubs all around the world.

His most successful hits included singles such as  “Levels,” “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother.”

We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.

And we promise to update this site with the artist’s official cause of death once it is made public.

May Avicii rest in peace.

Avicii: Cause of Death Revealed?

Earlier today, we reported on the tragic news that beloved Swedish EDM artist Avicii has passed away at the age of 28.

According to a statement from his publicist, the world-renowned DJ – whose real name was Tim Bergling – was found dead this morning in Muscat, Oman.

Officials say they’re conducting a full investigation that will include an autopsy and toxicology report.

But it seems that many who knew him best were not surprised by Avicii’s passing, and they don’t expect that the investigation will tell them anything they didn’t already know.

“Sadly a lot of people in the industry saw this tragedy coming,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.

Bergling’s health problems and struggles with addiction have been well-documented over the past several years.

In 2016, a case of acute pancreatitis brought on by excessive alcohol consumption caused him to retire from touring.

Two years prior, Bergling had his appendix and gallbladder removed as a result of his chronic alcoholism.

“To me, it was something I had to do for my health,” Bergling wrote in his retirement announcement.

“The scene was not for me,” he added.

“It was not the shows and the music, it was all the other stuff surrounding it that never came naturally to me … I’m more of an introverted person. It was always very hard for me.”

Addressing the matter of his own success, Bergling stated that he was endlessly grateful for the opportunities that had been presented to him, but realized in retrospect that he had taken on too much, too soon:

“It came with a price – a lot of stress and anxiety for me,” he wrote.

In a later interview, Bergling stated that he was “traumatized” by the experience of finding international success while still in his teens, to the point that he found himself unable to attend concerts and parties after his retirement from touring.

“Parties can be amazing, but it’s too easy to become attached to partying,” Bergling stated.

“You become lonely and get anxieties. It becomes toxic.”

Unfortunately, sources say Bergling’s self-medication did not come to an end when he left the party scene behind.

Fans noticed that he looked increasingly gaunt and weathered when appearing in public over the past year, and many expressed concerns for his health.

While there has been no confirmation that drugs or alcohol played a role in Avicii’s death, those who knew the superstar DJ best say there’s little doubt that it was his desperate need to drown his anxieties that led to his demise.

Our thoughts go out to his friends and family at this tremendously difficult time.

Avicii Dies: Swedish DJ and Musician Was 28

Sad news out of the music world today, as several sources have now confirmed that the wildly popular Swedish DJ and music producer known as Avicii has passed away.

The artist – whose real name was Tim Berling – was just 28 years old.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” reads a publicist’s statement issued moments ago.

“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

A two-time Grammy nominee, Avicii scored a number of international hits during his tragically foreshortened career.

He is best known for making music that transcended the world of EDM to achieve mainstream success on Top 40 radio, as well as in film and television soundtracks.

Songs such as “Wake Me Up,” “Hey, Brother,” and “Without You,” helped make Avicii one of the most revered performers in his genre

No cause of death has been announced, but Avicii’s health issues and struggles with alcoholism have been well-documented over the years.

In 2016, he retired from performing live in order to focus on his health, but in an online message to fans, Avicii stated that he felt he had many years of making music to look forward to:

“WE ALL REACH A POINT IN OUR LIVES AND CAREERS WHERE WE UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS THE MOST TO US,” he wrote.

“For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.”

“Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music. Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense – the studio.

“The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new.”

News of Avicii’s death instantly made his name a worldwide trending topic on Twitter with tributes pouring in from friends, family, and fans all over the globe.

Many have quoted one of Avicii’s most beloved songs, “The Nights,” which begins with a recording of a young man saying:

“When I die, I want to be remembered for the life I lived, not the money I made.”
