The Walking Dead Finale Sparks Controversy, Slamming of Showrunner

SPOILER ALERT:

Do not read the following post unless you have seen The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 8.

Okay? Got it? Ready? Don’t say you haven’t been warned…

On the midseason finale of this beloved AMC drama, we learned that Carl Grimes had been bitten by a zombie and was knocking very loudly on death’s door.

Played by one of the drama’s original cast members, Chandler Riggs, Carl was believed be one of the few characters remaining who wasn’t in danger of being killed off.

Hence, the shocking reaction from fans.

Those who watch The Walking Dead online or on television obviously expected major deaths on a near-weekly basis.

But young Carl?!? Say it isn’t so.

It is so, however.

“Yes, Carl is going to die,” Riggs told The Hollywood Reporter after the finale aired, adding simply:

“There’s no way he can get back from that. His story is definitely coming to an end.”

Again, a long-time character bidding farewell is pretty much par for The Walking Dead course.

But this storyline has sparked a different reaction than prior deaths because Riggs’ father has actually come out and slammed the series of essentially firing his son.

“Watching [showrunner Scott] Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing,” William Riggs wrote on Facebook last night in a post that has since been deleted.

But this is the Internet.

It will live on forever.

“I never trusted Gimple or AMC but Chandler did,” William added.

“I know how much it hurt him.

“But we do absolutely know how lucky we have been to be a part of it all and appreciate all the love from fans all these years!”

In the graphic novels on which The Walking Dead is based, Carl does not die.

However, Chandler told The Hollywood Reporter that he was made aware of his character’s fate several months ago.

He told the outlet:

“I found out when I was doing rehearsals for episode six back in June. It was quite the shocker for me, Andy and everyone because I don’t think anyone saw it coming.

“It’s definitely not a bad thing because it has been awesome being on the show, but now I get to go and do a lot of other stuff that I haven’t gotten to do before.

“Scott wanted to meet in person because it was such a big deal.

“We had just finished rehearsing for a scene in episode six and he wanted to meet with me and my mom and dad and talk about what’s going to happen.”

Sounds a lot more diplomatic than his dad, doesn’t he?

The Walking Dead, meanwhile, returns to AMC Sunday, February 25, at 9/8c.

Were you stunned to see Carl go? Who do you think gets killed off next?

Dancing With the Stars Finale Results: The Winner Is ...

Dancing With the Stars’ 25th season has come to an end.

Monday night, Drew Scott was eliminated, leaving Lindsey Stirling, Frankie Muniz and Jordan Fisher as the last three celebrities standing.

Who hoisted the Mirrorball trophy to close out 2017?

Let’s break down the final performances of the season…

Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas – Jive – “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham!

Lindsey and Mark went with one of their more popular numbers for the repeat round. Before the performance, Lindsey opened up about her struggle with anorexia and depression, before taking to the stage.

What was great about this round was that it let them put all of the comments from the judges back when they performed the number into this new iteration of it.

It secured the duo a perfect score, and it was well deserved. They were simply breathtaking.

Score: 40/40

In the dance fusion round, they went with a Cha Cha/ Tango Fusion, and it was, once again, a rock-solid performance from the duo. Given that they had a mere 24 hours to learn it, they performed it well.

Score: 30/30

Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson – Argentine Tango – “Angelica” from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

It’s crazy to imagine that Frankie could have been clipped early on in the season. He has taken all of the feedback on board and wanted to ensure he performed to the best of his ability.

Despite several meanders along the way, his first performance on finale night was excellent. Everything about it was polished, and the movements were on point.

Score: 30/30

They then performed the Foxtrot/ Tango for their dance fusion section, and it slowed down considerably. They had 24 hours to learn it, and that was pretty obvious.

It was not as good as their first number of the night, and their score suffered as a result.

Score: 28/30

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold Samba – “Mi Gente” by J. Baldwin and Willy William

Jordan is the gift that keeps on giving. He has dealt with a whole lot of rejection in his life, so being on the stage and getting perfect scores must be a good feeling for him.

It was almost as though the judges were running out of things to say about him because, well, he had been getting praise all season long.

Score: 30/30

Jordan’s final performance with Lindsay was a Salsa/Paso Doble fusion, and it was another delightful performance for the pair. If these two don’t win, then there will be hell to pay.

Score: 30/30

Can we just stop for a second and chat about how much filler the episode had? Yes, we know the holidays are coming, but we could have done without half of the stuff that happened.

As expected, Frankie and Witney secured third place in the competition.

Then, we found out that Jordan and Lindsay secured the win over Lindsey and Mark!

That’s a wrap on Season 25! What do you think of the results?

Sound off below!

Teen Mom 2 Season Finale Recap: So Magical, So Shocking

Two members of the fab five celebrated their weddings during the epic season finale of Teen Mom 2 on Monday, November 6.

Unfortunately, not everyone was in a joyous mood.

One cast member got into it with her ex in an altercation that will likely result in major consequences when custody decisions are made.

Another welcomed a new life into the world, but quickly faced the complicated reality of a potentially MIA father and an unhappy ex.

Can you guess who we"re talking about in that case?

Join THG below as we break down the highlights – and lowlights – from the finale of an incredible season and look ahead to the next.

1. First Day of School!

Briana dejesus daughters

Briana DeJesus’ older daughter Nova had her first day of school, and the family decided to go out to lunch to celebrate. That sounded like a great idea, except for the issue of Nova’s father …

2. Out to Lunch

Nova and devoin antin

Briana decided to be the bigger person and invite Devoin Austin out to lunch, even though he is out to lunch in a different sense – she just filed for child support from him. The good part is that he showed up for said meal. The bad part is … everything else.

3. Oh, You’re Mr. Responsible Now?

Oh youre mr responsible now

When Devoin – who has quite the checkered past – brought up the fact that he is currently working two jobs, Briana lost her s–t, because “there’s no reason that he has two jobs and he doesn’t help me with Nova.” She raises a valid point …

4. No Respect

No respect

Devoin countered that he’s getting the short end of the stick here, because Briana does nothing but disrespect him; Austin claims she asks for money but he gets no custody of Nova whatsoever and can only see her at her school (above) or other public settings.

5. Roxanne Goes Ham

Roxanne goes ham

Briana’s mom, Roxanne DeJesus, has never been to hold back when it comes to Devoin (or anything else), and when she got involved here, the situation took an ugly turn. “Shut the f–k up, motherf–ker,” she screamed, making an incredibly awkward scene in public, standing over the restaurant booth as the downtrodden baby daddy flipped her off. That’s one way to celebrate the first day of school …

6. The Fallout

Briana dejesus and devoin austin pic

It remains to be seen if Devoin will ever be back in Briana’s good graces, or if he’ll ever have joint custody of his daughter, but if this was their attempt at being “civil” last night … then wow. She makes Jenelle’s life look stable. Speaking of Jenelle …

Joy-Anna Duggar Pregnancy: Ignored By Counting On Finale!

Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth was pregnant when her brother Joe Duggar married Kendra Caldwell in September, but you wouldn’t know it.

At least not after TLC’s Counting On finale, which revolved around Joseph and Kendra’s big day, made nary a mention of Joy’s joy.

Monday’s Counting On wedding event didn’t address the newest Duggar pregnancy, which has been controversial since the get-go.

Rumors of Joy’s shotgun wedding have run rampant for months, ever since she moved her big day up from October to late May.

Almost exactly 12 weeks after tying the knot, she announced she was expecting her first child, and Joy’s baby bump is … big.

Joy was a part of Joseph’s big day, too, serving as a bridesmaid for Kendra, not that she got any discernible screen time out of it.

Some eagle-eyed fans were able to spot Joy sporting a small baby bump, though regardless of the timetable, that’s expected.

It just makes you wonder …

The Duggars confirmed Joy and Austin Forsyth were expecting their first baby on August 30, just several days before Joe and Kendra wed.

Again, that would put their conception date about three months earlier, which is really stretching. Hence those premarital sex rumors.

Perhaps reading so much into her lack of time on TLC Monday night is exactly that, though. There’s not necessarily a conspiracy here.

It’s perfectly possible, of course, that Counting On producers felt Joy had already gotten a wedding special of her own and left it at that.

Joseph stole her thunder, some believed, by getting engaged at Joy’s wedding; Duggar fans didn’t see a repeat of that this time around.

In any case, Joy has said she was hoping for children long before they tied the knot (whether they “tried” for one remains up for debate).

“Before we even were married we were praying that God would give us kids and we’re so thankful that he has,” Joy said earlier this fall.

Austin added during the big announcement:

“We’re so happy to announce that we’re pregnant. When we found out we were pregnant we were both extremely happy and felt blessed.”

The couple said they were not aware of the gender of their baby, but they were already sure on how they wanted to raise their child.

“I hope that our child is pretty much just like their mother. Selfless and always serving and loving people,” Austin said, predicting a girl.

“There’s kind of been a trend with having boys in the family,” he observed, and “I think we’re going to break it and have a girl.”

Jinger and Jessa Duggar have two boys each, while their older brother He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has three sons out of five kids.

For her part, Joy’s thinking boy all the way.

Gender aside, “I am really looking forward to seeing what the baby looks like,” she said, and any expectant parent knows that feeling.

While Austin and Joy have yet to share a due date for their little one – perhaps by design – there have been some clues just the same.

The Duggar Family Blog, which is run by friends of the Arkansas brood, reported earlier this month when fans could expect the child.

The bloggers wrote that according to Joy, she is due in “early March,” which would be consistent with her alleged wedding night conception.

If she gives birth earlier than that, though, all those questions that have dogged her for weeks on end are likely to intensify once more.

See all the pics from Joe’s wedding below!

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale Draws Record Ratings, Mixed Reviews

Well, it may have been shorter than we would have liked, but Game of Thrones Season 7 certainly delivered the goods in terms of both drama and dragons.

(Some have argued that the season felt a little too jam-packed, but more on that later.)

Of course, of greatest concern for the suits at HBO is the fact that the show came through in the most imporant category of all–the ratings.

Game of Thrones has broken so many ratings records in the past that the possibility of another premium cable series ever coming within shouting distance already seemed unlikely.

Yet somehow, the high-fantasy juggernaut continues to top itself with each new season, and it hit another high water mark with Sunday night’s “The Dragon and the Wolf.”

An estimated 16.5 million viewers watched the show during its first airing on Sunday night.

Streaming services may bring that number to 20 million before the week is out.

Those are impressive stats for any series wrapping up its seventh season.

They’re downright astonishing for a pay-channel show featuring a dense narrative and sprawling cast of characters that make casual fandom virtually impossible.

Of course, GoT isn’t the sort of show that fans are likely to jump ship on, a la Theon Greyjoy, with just a handful of episodes remaining.

So in a way, the massive viewership was something of a foregone conclusion.

But the show’s frenzied seventh season was considerably more popular with viewers than it was with critics, many of whom felt that key scenes felt rushed, the show abandoned many of the rules it had spent seasons painstakingly establishing, and the story occasionally reached eye-roll-inducing levels of absurdity.

For the most part, we were thoroughly riveted, but we have to admit that there were moments that took the necessary suspension of disbelief to absurd levels, even by the standards of a show that features a freakin’ zombie dragon.

The most glaring “oh, come on!” moments came during the season’s penultimate installment, which saw Jon and his motley crew of wight-hunters headed north of the Wall for a mission loaded with deus ex machina moments (Gendry runs awfully fast for someone who’s never seen snow!) and other instances that seriously strain credulity.

(So who among the aqua-phobic White Walkers dove into the water to attach those chains to Viserion?)

But these technical story-telling issues are to be expected from a show that has so many plot strands to tie together in such a short period of time.

We’re less forgiving of the many reunion scenes we’ve been awaiting for several seasons that were given short shrift, instead of being treated as the long-awaited tear-jerkers the audience deserves.

As the above behind-the-scenes featurette reminds us, it’s the cast and the richly-imagined they helped bring to life that we’ll remember more than the special effects (as jaw-dropping as they often are).

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would do well to remember that in the episodes to come.

The show has just six episodes left to wrap up a story of a scale and scope that television has never seen before.

Short of a full-blown Sopranos cut-to-black, it would be nearly impossible for GoT to deliver a wholly unsatisfactory finale.

We just hope the battle for the Iron Throne concludes in a fashion that’s deserving of the richly complex and beautifully realized story that brought us to this point.

Watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic to relive all 67 episodes in time before what’s sure to be a bittersweet curtain call.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale Recap: The True Heir to the Iron Throne

Massive Game of Thrones battle scenes are usually a once-a-season affair, but we’ve already had several big-budget blowouts in Season 7, and last night’s finale began with the promise of the most epic throwdown to date.

Bronn and Jaime looked on as thousands of Dothraki and Unsullied took formation at King’s Landing.

But in this feature-length installment, the battle will be fought with words … and the occasional dagger …and maybe the occasional zombie dragon.

Damn, this season ruled.

Anyway, let’s start at the begininning … with a long-awaited meeting.

As Bronn and Jaime discuss the importance of dongs, and Jaime credits his brother Tyrion with being a v woke friend of the oppressed, a fleet of ships arrives.

Jon first lays eyes on King’s Landing (population: 1 million, we learn), and his ship is carrying come dangerous cargo.

Of course, Cersei is less interested in Jon than in the opportunity to off both her chief rival and her hated brother in a single afternoon.

Speaking of penises (as this show often does) we get another reunion when Tyrion comes face-to-face with his well-endowed squire, Pod.

The tense team-building exercise in King’s Landing, as even the Hound and Brienne are making nice.

Bronn and Tyrion’s relationship, of course, is a bit more complex.

Bronn, as always, is looking out for number one, but even he can’t prevent his affection for Tyrion from shining through.

There’s a tense “a little too quiet” moment, where it seems an ambush might be in store, but fortunately for the good guys. Cersei decides to hear them out.

Of course, her entrance is no match for the Mother of Dragons who arrives who breezes in on the back of one of her children/WMDs.

Tyrion begins his “why we’re all here today” speech, but is interrupted by Greyjoy drama.

There’s a brief discussion on the quality of dwarf jokes, with Tyrion and Theon accurately pointing out that Euron’s sucked.

Finally, Jon gets down to brass tacks.

Stirring speeches are made, but even master wordsmith Tyrion is aware that no amount of conversation will secure the truce his side seeks.

For that you need a demonstration featuring one very pissed off wight.

Even the usually unflappable Cersei knows some terrifying sh-t has arrived at her door when the 28 Days Later extra leaps out of its crate.

“This is the only thing I’ve ever seen that’s terrified me”, Euron says before fleeing carrying on the proyd Greyjoy tradition of wussing out (or so we think).

Cersei grants the truce on the condition that Jon keep his nose out of the wars to come.

He could’ve played a game of semantics (He’s no longer King in the North, and he was never really Sed Stark’s son), but instead, he pledges his loyatyl to the Khaleesi … even though she wishes he hadn’t.

Jon gives a speech about the importance of integrity that feels awfully apt in 2017, and Tyrion proves once again that he’s one of the show’s most courageous characters.

He strides into the lion’s den to meet his sister … and possibly his death.

We’re reminded of the extent of Cersei’s seething hatred for her brother, as Tyrion passionately pleads his case, knowing full well he might be breathing his final words

Bonding over the one thing they have in common other than their last name (wine) and Tyrion makes the realization that Cersei is being spiteful for two these days.

From there, Daenerys delves into her family’s disgraceful history, revealing her belief that dragons are the only thing that gives her an advantage over others.

Just as Jon pronounced the whole endeavor will and truly “f–ked” Cersei delivers the surprising news that she plans to have her army’s join the campaign against the White Walkers.

For some reason, no one is skeptical of her newfound willingness to look at the big picture.

It seems at first that Tyrion really did a number on her.

Hey, maybe the Lannisters aren’t Westeros’ most dysfunctional family anymore!

In fact, the Starks are offering up a challenge in that department these days

Sansa hates Jon for making moves without her consent, and to make matters worse, Littlefinger is all up in her head.

He’s got her thinking Arya wants her dead and Jon wants to marry Daenerys.

It’s worth noting that this is one of the talkiest episodes of the season … and yet it’s full of white-knuckle suspense.

Another reminder that it’s the writing, not the jaw-dropping effects that keep us tuning into Thrones.

Of course, zombie dragons are pretty damn cool, but more on that later.

Theon aptly points out what many already have–that Jon could’ve just effing lied to Cersei.

But unlike the others, he offers his observation as praise.

The disgraced and mutilated Greyjoy becomes the all the more tragic in a surprisingly moving scene in which Jon offers his forgiveness–and guides Theon toward redemption.

Theon resolves to save his sister, but he’s not getting much support from his men

Fortunately, (we guess?) he finds there are advantages to being castrated, as Theon demonstrates in his fight with Random Red Shirt Iron Islands Guy.

Just when we think the Starks are fully self-destructing, we’re reminded that Sansa is savvier than she’s usually given credit for .

She turns on Littlefinger and she and Arya bond in the classic fashion of sisters everywhere–by collaborating on an execution.

It was the season’s least-surprising death, but still pretty damn satisfying.

Speaking of terrible people who can’t be trusted, Cersei is still totally focused on crushing her enemies and has no interest in joining the effort to save the world.

She plans to hire a band of mercenaries known as the Golden Company company to carry on the war effort.

On top of that, Euron is still on board, and Jaime and Cersei are now officially still at odds.

Also, she’s ordered the Mountain to kill him but he walks out anyway?

We’re not totally sure what happened there.

Anyway, Bran pays a surprise visit to Sam and … we won’t even attempt to do justice to these last ten minutes so here’s a breathless rundown of events:

A Stark (Bran) finally learns Jon is a Targaryen.

Jon and Dany enjoy some incestuous sexy time.

Jon’s real name is officially Aegon Targaryen!

Sansa and Arya are cool with one another once again.

Bran says what we’ve all been thinking: Jon. Is. The. Heir. To. The. Iron. Throne.

And just when you think that’s the last big twist of the season … the walls come tumbling down.

Yes, the zombie dragon is back and IT’S SPITTING BLUE FLAMES!!!

It brings down the Wall and a stream of wights passes into Westeros.

Earlier in the episode, Sansa utters the memorable line “the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”

But the final shot reminds us that everyone dies … and on GoT it’s usually a violent exit.

Unfortunately, we may have to wait until 2019 to find out if humanity is wiped out.

Hopefully the real world is still standing then, so we can finally get some closure.

In the meantime, watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic to hold you over in the long winter to come.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale Photos: Where"s Daenerys?!

We"ve known for quite some time that the final two seasons of Game of Thrones would be truncated affairs, but still, we can"t help feeling that the show"s seventh season finale is upon us far too soon.

Fewer episodes has meant a faster pace, which – though fun in some cases – has resulted in some pretty glaring inconsistencies in others.

(Based on travel times, Westeros is now apparently the size of Providence, Rhode Island.)

Fortunately, the show is in a position to deliver its most explosive season finale to date, which should help placate fans who are feeling slighted.

Check out the first photos from "The Wolf and the Dragon" below, and watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic to get caught up in time for Sunday night"s installment.

1. Tyrion and Jon Look Concerned

Tyrion and jon look concerned

Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow look worried. Maybe, like everyone else, they’re wondering why the hell the Khaleesi isn’t in any of this week’s promotional photos.

2. Sansa Looks Pissed

Sansa looks pissed

Which has pretty much been her default state all season. Living with a sister who might want you dead can have that effect.

3. Littlefinger Looks Smug

Littlefinger looks smug

He’s probably the reason Sansa looks so pissed. The man has many talents, and irritating the hell out of everyone is certainly one of them.

4. Bran Sees Things

Bran sees things

We’re kind of surprised Team Stark has put Bran to better use this season. Seems like an all-knowing oracle would be a good thing to have around.

5. Cersei Is Pregnant

Cersei is pregnant

And yes, she’ll continue to use that fact to her strategic advantage. She didn’t get to a spot on the Iron Throne by being soft.

6. Theon is Somehow Still Alive

Theon is somehow still alive

If you can call that living. Anyone else involuntarily shudder whenever this poor bastard’s onscreen?

Game of Thrones Finale Promo: The Gang is All... Where?!?

On Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6, Dany finally learned the truth… the very hard way:

The White Walkers are real. The Night"s King is very real.

And, yes, it is possible to kill a dragon.

How will these revelations impact this Sunday"s Game of Thrones Season 7 finale?

It appears as though Jon Snow and his friends will go through with their non-sensical plan to convince Cersei of these same truths by presenting her with their kidnapped Walker.

In the following trailer, Cersei and Jamie Lannister receive Tyrion, Jon Snow, Gendry, Theon Greyjoy, Jorah Mormont, Davos Seaworth and Brienne of Tarth in the ruins of Dragonpit in King"s Landing.

We don"t see Dany at this meeting, however.

"There"s only one war that matters and it is here," Jon Snow warns Cersei, who previously hinted she could see a benefit from a short-term alliance with those seeking her Throne.

To what end, we do not know.

There"s also a shot of Sansa in the preview, as we"re likely to get a conclusion on the finale to her annoying feud with Aria.

Elsewhere: neither The Hound nor The Mountain appear in the teaser, but fans are speculating that the finale will result in the long-awaited Cleganebowl, a rumored fatal clash between the two hulking siblings.

Weeks ago, in the the second trailer for Season 7, viewers saw The Hound draw his sword in the same Dragonpit seen below.

So there"s one more development to potentially look forward to.

Check out the promo now and ask yourself the obvious question:

Who will die on the finale?

The Bachelorette Finale Recap: Who Did Rachel Lindsay Choose?

The Bachelorette has aired its iconic 13th season finale, and as the dust settles, we can finally confirm what we’ve known for weeks:

Rachel Lindsay has given out her final rose! But to whom?!

Viewers have waited all summer for the answer to this:

Were The Bachelorette spoilers we’ve been discussing for weeks – especially after the conventional wisdom changed – correct in the end?

And given many fans’ growing concerns regarding one of the three guys left in the running for Lindsay’s love, did we want them to be?

Might an epic twist rock Rachel, Peter, Eric and Bryan and end the season on a note that not even Bachelorette spoiler aficionados predicted?

To channel our inner Chris Harrison for a moment, this may go down as the most anticipated, controversial finale in Bachelor history.

The beautiful Dallas attorney, a veteran of The Bachelor, spent 11 weeks paring down 25 suitors to the three standing before her tonight.

All the while, dispatching the likes of DeMario Jackson, Lee Garrett, that Whaboom guy and some others who were actually tolerable.

So would Rachel give the final rose to Bryan Abasolo, the smooth-talking Miami doctor whose confidence has turned off many a competitor?

Or would it go to Peter Kraus, a guy who looks and acts the part of a swoon-worthy fiance – but who has expressed 11th-hour reservations?

Or would Eric Bigger, whose relationship with Rachel has developed slowly but powerfully, pull off an upset no one believed to be possible?

Yes, all three gentlemen met her family as Rachel grappled with what could be the most difficult and consequential decision of her life.

Who does she see a brighter future with – and can she trust that person with her heart, especially given the doubts surrounding them?

So which guy got the rose, if anyone? Did they get engaged – and perhaps most consequentially of all, are they still engaged right now?

Man alive, The Bachelorette producers sure can cut a slick series finale, keeping us guessing and slowly dialing up the drama to 11.

In the end, though, there was no major shocker:

Rachel Lindsay is engaged to Bryan Abasolo.

Yes, her first impression rose recipient all those weeks ago is now her fiance, having proposed (she said yes) at the end of the night.

But that doesn’t mean the road to Rachel Lindsay’s engagement ring was easy for her, or this wasn’t super painful for for Bryan to watch.

The finale focused heavily on fan favorite and eventual runner-up, Peter Kraus, and his lingering apprehension about popping the question.

Peter asked Rachel how she would feel if he couldn’t propose, which made her realize how strong her feelings actually were for him.

For Peter, that emotion “went a long way,” and he got invited to the Fantasy Suite, as did Bryan, obviously … but then things got a bit weird.

Bryan noticed that she was a little checked out, and Rachel admitted later that she was hung up on Peter and her complicated feelings.

In any case, Eric didn’t make it to the final two.

Bigger was definitely the bigger person in his heartfelt reaction to this, however; Eric thanked her and gushed about Rachel at length.

In a Bachelorette first, the show essentially scuttled the After the Final Rose special, splicing together the reunions with Monday’s finale.

That made for some crafty editing, as well as the revelation that Rachel’s choice – Bryan vs. Peter – would not come until the very end.

But which one would it be?!

For a time, it felt like the connection with Peter was just more real.

Stronger. More genuine and compelling. But for Rachel, Peter not saying he’d propose was brutal, and ultimately this couple’s undoing.

Peter then fully admitted he wasn’t ready to propose, while at the same time confusing her with his talk about building a future together.

Many mixed emotions, to put it mildly, on this finale.

Kraus said that he decided way too recently that he was in love with Lindsay; Peter didn’t want to lose Rachel, but also wasn’t ready.

Eventually, she felt she had to tell him goodbye, saying that if he proposed the next day, it was only ‘cause he knew she wanted him to.

Perhaps he just wasn’t meant for this show, or life.

Their live sit-down was painfully awkward and sad, but at least there was the actual proposal – almost an afterthought after all we just saw.

Fortunately, Rachel called Bryan the perfect foundation, and he pulled out a pear-shaped ring, and soon they were engaged. HOORAY!

We wish the couple nothing but the best going forward and everything, having just seen all this, you do have to wonder, though:

1. Will it last? Do people dislike Bryan for kind of no reason?

2. Did Bryan cover his ears during all the Peter scenes? If he watched, is he equally convinced that he was really her second option?

3. Did Peter just kill his chances of being The Bachelor?

4. How do you feel about Eric’s beard on the live show?

5. Does Chris Harrison have the best job on TV?

Hit the comments and let us know!

Married at First Sight Finale: Who Stayed Together?!?

For better, worse or the end of a reality TV show season?

That was the question posed on last night’s finale of Married at First Sight, as Anthony D’Amico and Ashley Petta; Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot; and Nate Duhon and Sheila Downs all sat down and had to decide if they wanted to stay hitched…

… or file for divorce from their partner.

Let’s start with Cody and Danielle, shall we?

The issue between these two, as always, boiled down to their sex life. Or their lack of any real action between the sheets.

Danielle expressed irritation to her friend Angie that Cody continually brought up the lack of a spark in their relationship, with Angie keeping it real and telling her pal that eight weeks is actually a pretty long time.

It may say something if Danielle is STILL uncomfortable just giving her husband a kiss or holding his hand.

“I’m going to hold on for as long as I can,” Cody told his own friend, adding that he didn’t know how much longer he could take it.

Later on, the couple exchanged a pair of gifts; a glassware set for Cody and a necklace for Danielle, which she adored.

When it came time to meet with the experts and decide their fate, with basically admitted that they didn’t have feelings of true love. HOWEVER…

“I’ve thought a lot about this,” Danielle said. “We aren’t in a perfect place. It’s been tough at times, [but] “I would like to stay married and keep working.”

Cody smiled upon hearing these words. He agreed. He even got a peck out of Danielle in the end.

“The main thing is that I want both of us to be happier people because we’re in the marriage,” Cody concluded.

What about Ashley and Anthony?

Unlike with Cody and Danielle, there didn’t initially appear to be much drama for these two heading into their meeting with the experts.

Ashley was in a great place, saying the main problem for the couple was “communication,” while Anthony believed their most significant challenge as Ashley’s lack of an open mind.

As for having kids within a year?

Anthony thought that was a crazy idea.

Did this impact Ashley’s decision? Nope! She wanted to stay married!

“Ashley, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs,” Anthony replied, building suspense and adding:

“I couldn’t think of anyone else I would rather spend the rest of my life with. I want to stay married to you. I’m usually not missing words, but right now I am.

“Ashley, I love you.”

Cue the kisses! And the tears! Even from Rachel DeAlto!

Et tu, Sheila and Nate?

Let’s get right to it with this couple:

“This experience was a huge leap of faith and the thing about taking a leap is that you don’t know where you will land,” Sheila said to Nate during their big meeting, concluding:

“I want to be your wife until the day I die.”

Did Nate feel the same way?

He took his wife’s hand in his and replied:

“Eight weeks have been amazing and today is decision day technically, but decision day was when I said, ‘I do.’

“I love you a lot, a lot a lot.”

To the camera, he said their first two months or so together “surpassed” his expectations and then vows to never stop trying with her.

Sheila could only break down in response.

“Crying is what I do,” she said. “You taught me what it means to be loved and you love me so purely and unconditionally and for that I will forever be grateful.”

And that’s a wrap!

Three couples, three happy endings!

Did any of these decisions surprise you?
