Steve Carell: Did He Announce a Reboot of The Office on Saturday Night Live?!

It"s been over five years since the last episode of The Office aired

You still miss it, don"t you?

It was just such a fun, funny, delightful little show, and so very many people loved it so very much.

And since we"re in a time right now when many beloved shows are getting reboots — Roseanne, Murphy Brown, the new Sabrina series on Netflix, just to name a few — fans have been clamoring for a reboot of The Office, too.

There have been rumors about this for a while now, and even a few somewhat promising reports.

We"ve heard that a reboot could happen with just a few of the old cast members and some new characters.

But, over the years, Steve Carell, the man behind the World"s Best Boss, Michael Scott, has maintained that it wouldn"t be a great idea.

He"s also made it pretty clear that if it did happen, he most likely wouldn"t be involved.

Well, Steve hosted Saturday Night Live last night … and he may have changed his tune!

After he kicked off his opening monologue, an audience member interrupted him to ask if he"d ever reboot the show.

"No, actually, I don"t think so," he answered. "It was a great experience, I love all those people, but I just don"t think it"s the best idea, I think maybe we should just leave it alone."

Then Kenan Thompson popped up in the audience to tell him that no, it would be the best idea.

"It would be like someone wanted you to reboot Kenan and Kel," Steve argued.

Kenan told him that it "would be an honor" if that happened — so seriously, can that happen?

But then Ellie Kemper stood up.

Ellie Kemper who played that adorable, goofy receptionist, Erin, in later seasons.

"People would really love to see an Office reboot," she told him. "Especially me. I need that money. Let"s get that money, Steve!"

He still refused, so she called him a jerk and sat back down.

So it was Ed Helms" turn.

Ed Helms has gone on to star in tons and tons of movies, but many people still know him as Andy Bernard, that good ol" Cornell graduate who loves singing and has anger management issues.

"I just don"t think you understand how much money we"re talking about," he said to Steve. "Like, you wouldn"t have to do all those sad movies anymore."

(Steve is hosting SNL because he has a new movie, Beautiful Boy, coming out in which he plays a father with a drug addict son.)

He explained that he doesn"t do those movies for money, and so it was time to pull out the big guns:

Jenna Fischer, AKA Pam Beasley-Halpert.

"Steve, do you remember the last words Pam secretly whispered to Michael as she left for Denver?" she asked, referencing a fan-favorite moment.

When he said he didn"t, she told him "She said, "Steve, don"t be a dick, do the reboot.""

Finally, Steve"s actual wife and kids urged him to do it … so was what enough?!

"Seems like everyone wants this to happen," Steve said to the audience. "Do you want to see an Office reboot?"

Everyone cheered, because honestly, everyone does want to see that.

He asked Ellie, Ed, and Jenna to come up on the stage with him, then said "I am proud to announce officially …"

"We have a great show tonight!"

Yep, he really did play us like that.

Obviously there"s still no reboot in the works, but hey, maybe this was them sort of testing the waters, trying to see if people would want to watch?

We can dream.

Matt Roloff Wonders: Should I Run for Office?!?

On the latest episode of Little People, Big World, tension once again ran rampant between Matt Roloff and Amy Roloff.

Over pumpkin season, as we witnessed a couple Tuesday nights ago?

Over Matt’s romance with farm manager Caryn Chandler, which has been awkward from the start?

Nope and nope.

Instead, the former couple argued last night on air about Matt’s potential run for political office.

We’re not kidding!

“Some friends in the legislature here think I’d be good candidate to run for State Senator,” Matt explained to the camera, prior to the installment flashing to footage of Oregon State Senator Bruce Starr telling Roloff:

“By you running and winning this seat, Matt, it brings balance to the state legislature that is seriously needed.”

Can’t say we saw this storyline or possibility coming, did you?

Matt was clearly drawn to the idea. He didn’t even try to hide it.

“I mean, Matt Roloff, State Senator, that has a pretty good ring to it. It’s a big honor,” he said, adding during the episode:

“I’ve dabbled in politics here and there, and I’m passionate about some of the issues, but it’s also a huge sacrifice. It’s a commitment that you can’t take lightly.”

Little People, Big World is not typically a political program.

Matt, however, did once garner some backlash for seemingly showing support for Donald Trump.

The Commander-in-Chief wasn’t mentioned on this new episode, however, but Amy did voice some concerns about her former husband heading in this direction.

Remember, she warned Matt, “with politics, you’re past comes up.”

“Can’t you just say, ‘Good idea’?” Matt responded, sort of annoyed.

“Well, just be prepared that your past will come up,” Amy reiterated.

How mysterious and intriguing, right? To what could Amy be referring?

Well…

In his 1999 memoir, Against Tall Odd: Being a David in a Goliath World, Matt actually opened up about his cocaine addiction.

“I never thought I’d be someone who used drugs, but it happened,” he wrote in that book, elaborating as follows:

“I thought I could just try it and get out of it, but I was wrong. It caught me like a bear trap. I almost didn’t escape.”

Then, in 2003, Roloff was arrested for driving under the influence after his car swerved into a ditch.

Despite an official convicted charge of drunk driving, Matt’s charges were dismissed the following year upon completion of an alcohol diversion program.

There’s actualy more on his record, too.

In 2007, Roloff was pulled over once more after police spotted him supposedly driving erratically after leaving a bar.

He pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence in this instance, which was eventually dismissed due to a combination of jury misconduct and failure to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the reality star had been driving under the influence that night.

So… nothing major in Matt’s past, no.

But definitely some questionable and dangerous.

Said girlfriend Chandler last night on this topic:

“I’m going to support you whatever you really, really want to do, but as long as you understand that the more you put on your plate, it takes a toll on all things.”

In the end, due to Caryn’s hesitance and due to his desire to spend a lot of time in Arizona, Matt passed on the opportunity.

“I feel very committed to Caryn and I don’t want to lose her,” he said. “I need to pass on it.”

Elsewhere on this installment, Amy pondered her own future, including whether she will continue to live on the farm; Zach worried about Jackson’s six-month checkup; and Jeremy and Audrey dealt with a major disaster.

Hugh Dane Dies; The Office Actor Was 75

Hugh Dane, a veteran actor best known for portraying a security guard named Hank on The Office, passed away last month.

He was 75 years old.

According to the Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center, which hosted a celebration of life event in honor of Dane, the actor sadly died on May 16.

As of this writing, the circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.

Dane appeared in such films as Bridesmaids (2011), Little Fockers (2010) and Joy Ride (2001), while most recently having a role on ABC’s The Mayor.

But his death is most notable to television fans who recognize him as Hank, the mostly quiet and hilariously stern security guard on the aforementioned NBC sitcom who didn’t put up with any of Dwight or Michael’s BS.

In the wake of this tragic news, a number of The Office stars have taken to social media in order to express their condolences.

Mindy Kaling, for example, referred to Dane one of the funniest actors “ever,” adding on Twitter:

“I loved writing and acting with him.”

Added Rainn Wilson:

“RIP Hugh Dane, aka Hank the security guard. He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him. Donations can be made in his name to: http://www.innercityculturalcenter.org.”

Steve Carell, meanwhile, kept things short and simple and to the heartbreaking point:

“What a terrific guy.”

rainn tribute

Dane had been acting since 1990.

He rose to fame with roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Bridesmaids, as mentioned previously, before landing his recurring role on The Office for nearly a decade.

Other TV credits on his resume include The West Wing, Roc and Boy Meets World.

This Saturday, June 9, The Inner City Cultural Center will pay tribute to Dane at the Vision Theater in Los Angeles.

The Inner City Cultural Center is an organization that helps minority creatives foster their talent.

It sounds like Hugh Dane was a really great guy, widely respected and appreciated by all who knew him and all who worked with him.

May he rest in peace.

Below is a look at other celebrities who tragically lost their lives in 2018.

May they all rest in peace.
