Mom Arrested After Toddler Found Alone in Yard Sucking on Frozen Chicken Breast
Hallie Elizabeth Amick of Des Moines, Iowa, was arrested on Monday, August 8, after her young son was found alone in a back yard.
The two-year-old was sucking on a frozen chicken breast.
Amick, 30, was charged with child endangerment causing physical injury and drug possession after police were made aware of the situation.
An officer stopped Amick’s boyfriend for speeding, and the man told police he was rushing home because a child had been left alone.
Another officer was sent to check the house and found the child alone in the yard, with a full diaper, sucking on a frozen chicken breast.
A small dog, a terrier, was jumping at the boy, trying to get the chicken, police said, and sadly, this incident may not have been the first.
Their neighbor told the Des Moines Register that she has previously seen the dog bite the little boy, and the boy hit the dog with sticks.
“His diaper was almost down to his knees,” said Deborah Snyder, 57, who sees the yard from her apartment window (above and below).
Police who searched the home in question found a marijuana pipe, “blunts” and marijuana stems there, according to the Iowa newspaper.
Amick returned home almost two hours after the cops were called, claiming it was the first and only time she had left her child unattended.
Not according to her neighbor, however.
Snyder said Amick often leaves the child alone at home, which seems even more difficult to believe than leaving children in a hot car.
“This is the first time he got out of the house, but ever since they moved in they (left) him alone,” Snyder said of the troubling situation.
Again, not necessarily the case.
Another neighbor told police she once found the child alone in the middle of the street at one point, which would be a hard sight to invent.
Once confronted with the statements regarding her negligence made by her neighbors, Amick admitted she left the child alone on “occasion.”
The Iowa Department of Human Services was dispatched to the scene, but would not discuss the custody of the 2-year-old at this time.
Amick was released from jail after her first court hearing this week, and has declined public comment on the matter for obvious reasons.
The boyfriend may face charges as well, officials say.
La Baccam, who lives next to the house, says she heard the baby crying for a long time outside, but she thought the mother was home.
“I don’t know how in the world this mother can leave a baby like that,” Baccam said, echoing the sentiments of anyone reading this.
“If I knew that had happened, I’d ask police if I could keep the baby for myself, because I feel so sad for that baby.”

Jared Fogle: BRUTALLY Beaten in Prison Yard!
Not surprisingly, early reports indicate that prison life has not been easy for disgraced Subway spokesman Jared Fogle.
As you probably know Fogle was sentenced to 15 years behind bars after pleading guilty to possession of child porn and soliciting sex from a minor back in November.
Life on the inside is rough for any inmate, but it tends to be particularly hard on child molesters and not-particularly-well-liked public figures.
Fogle, of course, is both, and to the surprise of no one, his fellow prisoners haven’t been particularly welcoming.
Reports of Fogle being harassed behind bars began to circulate shortly after his sentence started, and it seems the abuse has only escalated.
Today, TMZ is reporting that Fogle was viciously assaulted after being ambushed in the prison yard back on January 29.
News of the attack just went public today, and by all accounts, Fogle didn’t put up much of a fight.
James Nigg – a 60-year-old serving time on a weapons charge – reportedly pushed Fogle and began pummeling him in the face.
TMZ reached out to members of Nigg’s family, who say they’re not surprised by the assault.
Apparently, Nigg had been complaining about the presence of child molesters in the minimum security prison for years, and Fogle was just the final straw.

Jessica Simpson Says That Her Daughter"s Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard
Jessica Simpson has shared a very cute photo of her daughter, Maxwell.
She has also written something very inappropriate about said photo and said daughter.
The singer (can we still call Jessica that?!?) shared the above image of her three-year old child on Instagram yesterday, giving followers a look at Maxwell clutching a large milkshake while posing in a sassy manner, with her hand on her hip.
It’s definitely an adorable image.
But then Jessica went back in time and quoted the 2003 Kelis song “Milkshake” as a caption to the snapshot, writing:
My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like it’s better than yours… #MAXIDREW
We’re assuming Simpson meant no harm with this caption, but the term “milkshake” in this context is generally believed to be a reference to oral sex on a man.
Kelis did not admit that herself, but she did say at the time of the track’s release that its title was a reference to something sexual.
“Milkshake is just that thing that makes a woman stand out from everyone else,” the artist explained.
“It’s a thing that makes you sensual and warm and maternal. It could be about breasts but I don’t have huge tits so you gotta work with what you got.”
So even though Simpson wrote on Valentine’s Day that she and husband Eric Johnson are still “getting it,” we’re guessing Jessica does not exactly get what this song is all about.
Let’s hope that’s the case at least.
Otherwise we may need to call Child Protection Services on her and Johnson.
