Mariah Carey Goes Out with Backup Dancer, Demands a Fortune from James Packer
News of Mariah Carey and James Packer calling off their engagement has only been public for 36 hours or so.
But the narrative has already changed a number of times, following initial reports that claimed Packer simply grew sick of Carey’s excessive spending habits.
At first, outlets wrote that Packer was turned off by Carey’s upcoming E! reality show and decided that he had had enough of his fiancee’s diva attitude.
And that may still be correct, we suppose.
But then TMZ reported on something that happened between Carey and Packer in Greece, alleging that some kind of incident took place between the billionaire businessman and one of Carey’s assistants.
This rumor then turned even uglier when we heard the encounter was “violent” in nature.
On Thursday night, three different outlets (TMZ, People Magazine, E! News) all shared quotes from anonymous insiders that claimed Packer is mentally unstable.
“James is not in a mentally healthy place right now and he has not been present for her,” one source said, adding:
“Unfortunately, his absence and behavior was not a good situation for her, so she had to leave him.”
Now, E! and TMZ are also reporting that Carey has gotten close to backup dancer Brian Tanaka.
Over the past few weeks, during her estranged period with Packer, Carey “developed a close relationship” with Tanaka, according to an E! insider.
And this isn’t mere talk.
TMZ has shared a video that actually features Carey out for sushi with Tanaka on Thursday night. The two shared a meal at Nobu in Malibu, which is telling in and of itself.
Why? Because Nobu is the sort of establishment people go to when they want their picture taken.
Paparazzi are known to hang out there, just waiting for celebrities to film.
In other words: Carey knew what she was doing and was likely sending a message to Packer.
According to TMZ, Packer had it out with Tanaka in Carey’s Las Vegas dressing room a little while back, actually getting the dancer banned from Caesar’s Palace in the process.
Meanwhile, in a separate report, TMZ claims that Carey is demanding $ 50 million from Packer. For what possible reason?!?
Because, in her view, Packer has cost the singer a fortune.
She says he got her to move from New York to Los Angeles, uprooting her entire life in the process, so he could be near his children.
She also claims the aforementioned incident on the yacht in Greece has traumatized Carey to such an extent she had to cancel the South American leg of her tour.
She alleges that Packer made certain financial promises to her.
We can’t say for certain if any of this is true.
All we can say for certain is that Carey and Packer met in 2014 at a movie premiere in Aspen, Colorado; that the Australian proposed in January 2016 with a 35-carat diamond ring; and that this romance is very much over.

Mariah Carey and James Packer: What Happened (in Greece)?!?
Multiple outlets can now confirm what The Hollywood Gossip reported a few hours ago:
It is all over for Mariah Carey and James Packer.
According to various reports, the billionaire businessman ended his engagement to the flighty and iconic singer a couple of weeks ago.
But WHY?!? The answer does not appear to be obvious.
Woman’s Day quoted a source who blamed Packer’s “reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show,” which does seem to jibe with the fact that Packer is a private individual.
He made his fortune in the casino business and has no interest in the spotlight.
How on Earth did he therefore fall for an artist who is practically as well known for being a spoiled, attention-obsessed diva as she is for her incredible voice?
Who can say? The heart wants what it wants.
Or at least it wanted what it wanted.
But TMZ reports something very different.
According to that typically-reliable celebrity gossip site, Carey and Packer haven’t seen each other or had any contact at all in over a month.
Their major issue stems from something that happened on boar a yacht while they vacationed in Greece, something that entails Packer having done “something really bad” involving Carey’s assistant.
How is THAT for vague intrigue?!?
The obvious answer here for that “bad” thing would be cheating, but then you would assume TMZ would come out and report that, right?
Maybe there was a verbal or even physical confrontation of some kind?
The insiders would not elaborate, but TMZ says some kind incident did, in fact, take place and it prompted Mariah to bail on the vacation and go back to Los Angeles.
Interesting, no?
According to People Magazine, though, the breakup was related to a difference in personalities and lifestyles.
“James is all about business and making money,” a source told that publication,, adding that Packer maybe wealthy… but he’s also somewhat reserved.
“Some of Mariah’s eccentric ways, especially her spending habits, caused drama. James is the most generous person ever, but he definitely doesn’t agree with senseless spending,” this insider said.
Another source confirms the rumor that Mariah’s reality show (previewed above) turned Packer off. Big time.
“James is very private, and doesn’t need the media to be successful,” this person says. “He doesn’t want to be a part of Mariah’s reality show.”
We do now wonder how the breakup will impact the reality show, considering some of it has been filmed already and some of it centered on Carey making wedding plans.
Oops!
“They are not together right now. They split a couple of weeks ago,” yet another source confirms to People, making a point to add:
“It’s possible they will get back together. They are still talking, but James needed a break.”

According to a new report, Mariah Carey is singing a very sad tune at the moment.
And, according to this same report, no one will be singing “Here Comes the Bride” on Carey’s wedding day.
Because there won’t be a wedding day. Because Carey has been sent packing by James Packer.
A source tells The New York Post that the billionaire Australian, grew sick and tired of putting up with Carey’s “extravagant spending” and newfound love for reality television.
Which, if true, is both understandable and confusing.
Packer was sick of Carey spending a lot of money?!?
Had Packer ever met Carey prior to asking her to marry him?!?
This isn’t exactly a woman known to live modestly. She can’t even pose for a naked selfie with being draped in diamonds.
Packer, who earned most of his fortune as a casino mogul, officially called it quits with Carey this week after being engaged to the singer for under a year, according to Woman’s Day.
“It’s all over,” a family friend told the magazine, adding:
“James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.”
It’s true: in December, Mariah’s World will debut on E!.
Based on the trailer at the outset of this article and the one below, it looks exactly like you would expect a Mariah Carey reality show to look like.
Carey jokes at one point about her reputation for being high maintenance, only to later (not really) joke about wanting puppies in her dressing room.
“I don’t consider it reality,” Carey told reporters of the series, claiming the program will be closer to a “documentary.”
However she wants to refer to it, the show may now have to undergo some serious changes because it was set to partially chronicle her wedding planning.
But the wedding has been so adamantly called off that Page Six claims Packer doesn’t even care if Carey keep shed $ 10 million engagement ring. He just wants out.
“When she refused to come to Australia for [Packer’s sister’s] birthday party it created a lot of tension in the family,” a friend said of the final straw for Packer.
This insider says that Carey never bonded with Packer’s family members or anyone close to the wealthy businessman:
“His mom hated to even hear her name mentioned, and James’ tight circle of friends never really thought they would marry.”
This news probably doesn’t come as a shock to those who have taken note that neither Carey nor Packer talked much about their actual wedding.
It was almost as if both sides knew that day would never come.
But there’s an interesting note to end on: The Post writes that Carey has been “spending time” since this split with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
Might a reconciliation be in the cards?!?
Now that would make for a quality reality show storyline.

Mariah Carey to Guest Star on Empire Season 3 As...
Mariah Carey is returning to the scene of the horrible crime.
Last week, the artist told reporters from the Television Critics Association that her time on Fox, as host of American Idol, was awful and “abusive.”
Fast forward just a few days, however, and we can confirm that Carey is on her way back to this same network.
The iconic artist will guest star on an upcoming episode of Empire Season 3, although she will NOT be portraying herself.
Instead, the occasional actress (remember her impressive turn in Precious?) will stop by the Fox smash as a character named Kitty.
And just who the heck is Kitty?
She’s described by producers as a superstar who comes to Empire in order to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new tack.
But when the duet encounters a few obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and achieve a musical breakthrough.
Let’s all hope… nay, pray, that Carey shares at least one scene with Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie.
This guest appearance will not be Mariah’s only stop by the small screen this year.
As teased in the above promo, Carey will actually anchor her very own reality show, Mariah’s World, which is set to debut in December on E!.
Look for this program (which Carey has dubbed a “documentary”) to chronicle Carey’s European tour, along with her wedding plans.
Oh, yes, Carey is engaged.
She has snagged herself a billionaire named
Carey is about to kick off the second half of her Las Vegas residency, “Mariah #1 to Infinity,” at Caesars Palace later this month.
She will then heads to Latin America this fall with her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour of Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico.
As for Empire:
Carey will appear on the October 5 installment of the Fox series, joining previously announced Empire guest stars Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, French Montana and Birdman.
Empire returns September 21 with new episodes and you can watch Empire online at any time via our friends at TV Fanatic in order to catch up.
It’s a great show. But be warned:
You won’t be able to watch just one episode at a time. Prepare to binge, people.

Blac Chyna Gets Lap Dance On Stage at Mariah Carey Concert: WATCH!
Mariah Carey just threw a mini bachelorette party for Blac Chyna in Las Vegas!
Chyna was enjoying Carey"s concert from the audience when the diva brought her on stage and treated her to a lap dance from a hunky dancer.
During a rendition of her hit "Touch My Body," Mimi teased Chyna with a hot pink feather as she was blindfolded, which kinda makes zero sense, because what"s the damn point if you can"t see it?
What Chyna missed was a very fine man joining her on the circular bed then ripping off his tank top as he thrusts his pelvis and shakes his booty in her face to a cheering crowd.
Luckily, someone caught a video of it all and Chyna shared it to Instagram.
"It was truly a honor to grace the stage with Mariah tonight. The show was amazing & she was gorgeous!" Chyna wrote in the caption.
In the vid, Chyna shows off her growing baby bump in a body-hugging beige dress and strappy stilettos.
Sadly, those heels weren"t kind to her. She later shared a clip of herself hobbling in the uncomfortable shoes, writing, "when I say my feet was killing me son… sh*t not cool!" in the caption.
We know anyone who"s been pregnant – hell, any woman at all – can sympathize.
A former exotic dancer, Chyna is more accustomed to giving rather than receiving the lap dances, that is, unless her fiance Rob Kardashian has some skills we"re unaware of.
Back in March, the Blac and Rob hit the strip club together and she showed off some of her former moves for her man.
Last week in Cannes, Chyna gushed over her fiance.
"He"s a genuinely loving person, Rob has all the qualities of a good father," she said.
The pair are gearing up for their new reality show, Rob & Chyna, which will chronicle the couple"s journey as they prepare for their upcoming wedding and baby.

Mariah Carey: When Will She Marry Marry James Packer?
Mariah Carey is getting married to James Packer… maybe. If she can find the time.
The 46-year-old singing sensation had a chat with Sharon Osbourne for Entertainment Tonight this week, addressing plans about her future.
Will it include a wedding?
Maybe, but Carey said she has “a lot on my plate” these days.
Her professional plate, she means. Not her personal plate… or else we’d be close to hearing wedding bells.
Surely, if she was serious about the whole thing she would pick a date and work her schedule around it.
Even if that meant pushing it a bit further down the line.
It kind of raises questions about whether everything is going well between the singer and her VERY rich fiance.
If you plan on getting married, you get married. You don’t get all sketchy about it.
Could there be trouble in paradise?
Might it be down to Nick Cannon refusing to sign divorce papers?
Yes, word came out earlier this week that Cannon was flat out refusing to sign the divorce papers.
This could very well be preventing any potential union between Carey and James Packer.
It is pretty odd that he’s so against signing the papers because it’s preventing both parties from moving on from the failed relationship. These two seemed to get along very well for exes.
There’s also the possibility that this is all a ruse to get people to tune into her eight-part E! reality series, Mariah’s World.
Shows on E! rely heavily on constructed drama. It’s the home of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, after all.
It hasn’t made us any more excited for the show and viewers will probably be furious if the show has Cannon refusing to sign the divorce papers all season long.
Carey thinks she’s GLAAD’s most famous celebrity, so expect similar comments about her being the most famous person in reality TV.

Nick Cannon REFUSING to Sign Mariah Carey Divorce Papers: Why??
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are STILL married, everyone.
Technically, that is.
Even though Mariah became engaged to James Packer in January and sports a gargantuan 35-carat diamond engagement ring the business mogul gave her.
The scoop is that Mariah has been beseeching her ex Nick to sign off on the divorce papers, but he keeps stalling and won’t say why, reports TMZ.
It’s kind of odd, because Nick was the one who filed for divorce in 2014, but it seems he’s having a change of heart.
Sources have told the site that he really just doesn’t want to let Mariah go.
Everything’s been settled – including the property deal and custody arrangement for the couple’s kids – so all that’s missing is Nick’s John Hancock to make the divorce official.
Understandably, Mariah is frustrated and wants to move forward with her fiance, but sources say Nick is making that difficult.
Since the split, all has appeared amicable between the former flames.
When Mariah announced her engagement, Nick wished the couple well and even shared a hilarious meme poking fun at himself on Instagram.
In the caption, Nick wrote:
“Ha! This made me laugh out loud for real!!! HILARIOUS! #AllLove Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union… #GreatPeople #GreatCouple”
Additionally, when the couple split, he vowed never to utter a bad word about his ex and mother of his children.
“I will never say anything negative about @MariahCarey. We are forever a family rooted in love,” he promised.
So why won’t he sign? Smells like something’s going on behind the scenes that hasn’t come out yet.

Mariah Carey: I Am GLAAD"s Most Famous Celebrity!
Just because you’re an honoree doesn’t mean an awards show has to cater to your every whim.
JK. This is Hollywood, of course they’re not going to ignore insane demands.
At the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on May 14th, Mariah Carey held things up for about an hour-and-a-half so that she had the red carpet to herself.
“The red carpet had to be clear of all other celebrities,” an insider told Radar Online.
Carey is famous for demanding that her “good side” be photographed only, and you can bet your bottom dollar that was the case on Saturday night.
“She told a reporter that they had to move the camera to catch her ‘good side,"” the source added.
Carey spoke about the significance of the night’s ceremony, which is great considering she was the only celebrity on the red carpet.
“Some awards are about statistics and things like that, and some are about like something a little more real. Do you know what I mean?” Carey said, according to Billboard Magazine.
“This feels like one of those moments, so I think it’s great.”
Once inside the venue, Carey was her usual gracious self.
“Thank you for the unconditional love,” she told the audience after accepting The Ally Award.
“Because it’s very unusual for me to experience that. I don’t have much of it.
“So, I thank you and wish all of you love, peace, harmony, and, as my 5-year-old son likes to say, ‘Boobies and butts!"”
Carey also shut down a rumor that she will perform at her own wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer.
“Why would you sing at your own wedding,” she asked, according to People.
“It’s obnoxious!”
So is having people clear a red carpet so you’re the only talent available for photos and interviews, but we’re not keeping track of such things!

Mariah Carey Cancels Brussels Concert Due to Safety Concerns
Pop queen Mariah Carey announced yesterday that she is canceling an upcoming concert in Brussels due to safety concerns in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks the city suffered earlier this week.
The concert was set to take place on Easter Sunday, which also happens to be Mariah’s 46th birthday.
The “Hero” songstress issued the following statement on Twitter and Instagram:
“I love my fans in Brussels and at this time I am being advised to cancel my show for the safety of my fans, my band, crew and everyone involved with the tour.
“I hope to see you soon and send my prayers and eternal love, laughter and light to my Lambs.”
While some fans expressed anger and disappointment, most were supportive of her decision.
“You are letting the terrorists win!” wrote one fan via Twitter.
“You’re doing the right thing. Safety first. Love you,” tweeted another.
During a concert in London earlier this week, Adele dedicated an emotional performance of “Make You Feel My Love” to the terror victims in Brussels.
Audience members waved their phone lights in the air as they sang along with her.
“I don’t think I’ve ever actually been so moved in my life at one of my shows,” Adele said following the performance.
Mariah is currently in the midst of her Sweet Sweet Fantasy European Tour and will take the stage in Denmark on Tuesday.

Beyonce and Mariah Carey Look STUNNING Together at LA Benefit
While many celebs were attending Kanye West’s fashion show and album reveal in New York, Yeezy’s friend Beyonce was glamming it up with Mariah Carey at the HeartView Global Foundation benefit in LA.
The gal pals were positively glowing in a photo Mariah posted to Twitter, who tweeted, “Two girls, one cause.”
Bey slayed in a white gown adorned with a shoulder-hugging cape and Mariah rocked a nude-colored, sparkly lace dress that flaunted her famous curves.
And yes, you can catch a glimpse of Mariah’s much-talked about 35 carat engagement ring, which may or may not have required its own seat at the benefit.
Both ladies have had quite the year so far.
Beyonce made many a headline early in the week when she basically won the Super Bowl with her jaw-dropping halftime performance of “Formation” (even though a few bellyachers had to be total sour pusses about it).
Three weeks ago, Mariah got engaged to billionaire James Packer, who presented her with the aforementioned diamond boulder that’s likely giving her left bicep muscles a killer workout.
The HeartView Global Foundation aims to combat heart disease by promoting a heart-healthy, plant-based diet. Both Beyonce and Mariah have both followed vegetarian/vegan diets in the past.

Stevie J to Nick Cannon: I Slept With Mariah Carey!
A situation got heated on the set of Wild ‘N Out when host Nick Cannon exchanged jabs with Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Stevie J.
Stevie, who was appearing as a guest with cast mate and ex-wife Josephine Hernandez, was engaged in a rap battle against Nick and his gang when things took a turn for the nasty, reports TMZ.
We don’t know what exactly sparked the brouhaha, but Stevie apparently deemed it a perfect time to inform Nick that he had slept with his ex-wife Mariah Carey on two occasions.
Ooooh, burn.
And how did Nick respond? Well, he brought Stevie’s ex-wife into the picture by saying she’s been sleeping with rapper Rick Ross.
I can’t help but think of the Seinfeld episode in which George Costanza delivers a well-thought-out comeback to a colleague that falls flat, so at a loss for words blurts out, “Well, I had sex with your wife!”
I guess they had nothing else.
BUT DUDES. Why you gotta bring the women into your crap? They have nothing to do with it and it makes you seem like silly little boys.
The spat escalated and witnesses say it looked like they were about to get physical after Nick told Stevie he’d “never work in this town again,” but producers broke it up before it came to blows.
I can’t help but feel a little bad for Nick, who has expressed nothing but love for Mariah, who recently got engaged to billionaire James Packer.
Nick was an amazing sport about the news when he congratulated the couple and posted a hilarious meme that featured himself passed out after seeing Mariah’s shiny new 35-carat diamond ring.
But as for Stevie J? Let’s just SEE if he ever works in this town again.
