Meghan Markle Talks Proposal, Discrimination... and That Ring!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have kept their relationship on the Down Low for first few months of their courtship.
But the beloved couple is now engaged… and they can’t stop talking about it!
Within hours of confirming to the world that they are, at last, engaged to be married, the actress and the Royal stud muffin posed for a multitude of official engagement portraits…
… and then sat down for an interview with Mishal Husain of BBC News.
The soon-to-be newlyweds touched on a number of personal topics during the chat, beginning with the proposal itself.
“It happened a few weeks ago,” Prince Harry said. “It was a really nice moment. It was just the two of us.”
Markle referred to the question-popping as “an amazing surprise,” adding that it “was so sweet, natural and very romantic,” prior to delving into further details:
The proposal took place while the stars were roasting a chicken for dinner.
“He got on one knee … I could barely let you finish proposing. I said ‘can I say yes now?’” Markle said, while William laughed and added:
“Then there were hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I was like can I give you the ring? She goes – oh yes the ring.”
As for other subjects broached during the fascinating sit-down…
HOW DID THEY MEET?
On a blind date after being matched by a friend.
Harry confessed he had “never even heard of” Markle before the date, but said he was “beautifully surprised” when he made her introduction.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO MEET THE QUEEN?
Said Markle:
“To be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honor and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me.”
WHAT IT LIKE TO BE HARASSED ONLINE?
Early on in their romance, Prince Harry issued a statement that asked critics to back off Markle after she received so much hate and grief online.
Harry says he was “totally unprepared for what happened” after the public learned of their relationship, while Markle described the backlash as “disheartening” and “discriminatory.”
(Her mother is African-American and her father is white.)
“At the end of the day I am proud of who I am and where I have come from and we have never put any focus on that, we have just focused on who we are as a couple,” said the actress.
WHAT WOULD PRINCESS DIANA HAVE THOUGHT OF MARKLE?
“Oh they’d be thick as thieves, without question,” Harry told BBC News, adding:
“I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me. But then, as I said, would have probably been best – best friends with Meghan.”
OKAY, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT RING…
“The little diamonds [on] either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this on this crazy journey together,” said Harry.
And Markle:
“It’s incredibly special… to be able to have [the ring], which sort of links where you come from and Botswana which is important to us. It’s perfect.”
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MARKLE’S TWO DOGS?
“One is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is – yes, he’s in the UK, he’s been here for a while,” Markle says.
What does he think of Harry? And vice versa?
“I’ve spent the last 33 years being barked at, this one walks in, absolutely nothing,” the Prince said of the pup.
In other words: they’re totally best friends!
WHEN WILL HARRY AND MARKLE GET MARRIED?
No date has been set yet.
But the Royal Family has confirmed the general timeline of this spring.

HGTV Responds to Fixer Upper Scandal, Accusations of Discrimination
HGTV has spoken out against accusations of discrimination against members of the gay, transgender and queer communities.
In no uncertain terms.
The network felt forced to issue a statement after Buzzfeed published an in-depth article this week that called out the pastor at the church attended by Chip and Joanna Gaines, the popular couple at the forefront of Fixer Upper.
The article delved into this pastor’s anti-gay marriage and anti-homosexual views.
There seems to be no doubt, based on his many quotes over the years, that Pastor Jimmy Seibert of the Antioch Community Church in Texas is against the institution of same-sex marriage.
He has also stated that he thinks nearly all homosexuals have been abused in some way and that it’s very possible to convert them into being straight.
These are controversial opinions, to be sure, but they are not positions publicly held by Chip or Joanna.
The couple has never spoken out on its religious beliefs. We have no idea what they think about these topics.
Should they really be shamed by association with their pastor?
Should viewers care what beliefs their favorite TV stars may possibly hold?
Buzzfeed has come under major fire for writing this article. By those on the far Right? Yes:
But also by those who support same-sex marriage:
An editorial in The Washington Post, linked to in the Tweet above, refers to Buzzfeed’s article as a “hit piece” and labeled it “dangerous” because it is an “elaborate,” 800-word post, entirely based on a “hypothetical question.”
Moreover, the newspaper describes the piece as a “deceitful, manipulative way to take down conservatives.”
Writes The Post in this op-ed:
It is no longer okay – indeed, it never was – to write cutesy articles shaming religious people as homophobic for simply being one of the many millions of Americans in 2016 who attend a religious congregation that does not support same-sex marriage.
So… what does BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith have to say about all this?
He claimed on Twitter that the story wasn’t about Chip and Joanna, but rather about HGTV and its company policies.
“This is a story about a big company, HGTV, refusing to say whether they ban LGBT people from a TV show,” Smith Tweeted. “They should just answer the question.”
Many LGBT couples have appeared on such programs as Property Brothers and Love It or List It, but HGTV still came out last night and issued a statement on the controversy.
“We don’t discriminate against members of the LGBT community in any of our shows,” the statement read.
“HGTV is proud to have a crystal clear, consistent record of including people from all walks of life in its series.”
It’s true. It does.
Fox News has picked up and run with this story. It even interviewed Seibert on Thursday.
“People don’t know what the Bible says anymore on issues of sexuality,” he said.. “People don’t know what God says on homosexuality or any other issue.
“I felt the need to say we are all a mess – but the fixed points were set by God – not us. We are pro-helping people in their journey to find out who God is and who He has made them to be.”
That’s great? That’s discriminatory and offensive? That’s a viewpoint on homosexuality that you may react to however you see fit.
But we’re not sure what it has to do with Chip and Joanna Gaines of why a news/celebrity gossip/entertainment site would write a feature piece on a pastor.
Fixer Upper airs on HGTV on Tuesdays at 9/8c.
Will you still tune in to it?

Trump Voter Blasts "White Discrimination" at Starbucks
For the record, the following individual does not necessarily represent ALL Donald Trump supporters.
But he may very well be a solid representation of Florida Man in general.
Around 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon, the patrons at a Starbucks location near the University of Miami were sitting back and relaxing, sipping on what we have to presume were quite a few Pumpkin Spiced Lattes.
But their calm coffee experience was interrupted by a disgruntled customer who was simply aghast over how long it was taking for the barista to fulfill his order.
The barista was African-American, which would typically be an irrelevant detail.
Except this unhappy shopper started to scream "TRUMP" at the employee, claiming that the delay on his order was due to "anti-white discrimination" and threatening to punch those around him.
He also referred to another employee as "complete trash," another as a "bitch" and demanded a refund.
"I voted for Trump! Trump! You lost, now give me my money back," the man yelled.
What happened when a fellow patron tried to calm the Trump voter down?
Did the two men come to blow? And also: What the heck is wrong with people?!?
WATCH THE ENTIRE UGLY SITUATION UNFOLD NOW:
