Fox News SLAMMED by Fox Employees Over Pro-Trump Propaganda

The Trump Administration keeps on churning out scandals, and the news media keeps on reporting them to a horrified public.

Fox News, however, has been doubling down on its unwavering support for Trump.

Creators of some of the Fox television network’s most successful scripted shows have had enough, and are voicing their outrage.

Recently, one of Fox News’ most outlandish personalities, Tucker Carlson, told his viewers to simply believe the opposite of whatever other news sources tell them.

Carlson has voiced white supremacist conspiracy theories and other abhorrent material in the past, but this instruction crossed a line with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

On Twitter, MacFarlane characterized Carlson’s segment: “In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News.”

That about sums it up.

“This is fringe s–t,” MacFarlane tweeted, referring to Carlson’s clip. “And it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company.”

He doesn’t directly work for Fox News, but … close enough.

We’ll explain in a moment.

Modern Family creator Steve Levitan chimed in.

“Let me officially join Seth MacFarlane,” Levitan tweeted. “In saying I’m disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with @FoxNews.”

It sounds like these sentiments had been building up for months or even years.

“This bulls–t is the opposite of what #ModernFamily stands for,” Levitan added.

He does intend to see this series through to the end, but he suggested that he might not choose to continue working with the network after that.

Time will tell.

Tucker Carlson

Paul Feig, a producer, has similar sentiments.

“I have made two films for 20th Century Fox and love the people in the movie and TV divisions,” Feig tweets.

Feig continues: “But I too cannot condone the support their news division promotes toward the immoral and abusive policies and actions taken by this current administration toward immigrant children.”

Filmaker Judd Apatow makes it clear that, while he knows that many people need to keep their jobs, he believes that those who can should choose to avoid working for Fox in any capacity.

“We all choose who to work with,” Apatow writes. “I understand why that is easier for some than others but many powerful people are powerful enough to speak up to their bosses at a moment like this.”

The whole world is watching. And so is history.

And so, by the way, are advertisers. Many of whom are reportedly growing uneasy with not only Fox News, but other Fox properties.

We know that entangled corporate holdings can be a little complicated and that the average person probably doesn’t think about them all that much.

(Aside from the occassional line of “Nestle is monopolizing vital water resources like they’re James Bond villains? Don’t they make chocolate?”)

Fox News, 20th Century Fox, and everything within the Fox Entertainment Group is owned and controlled by 21st Century Fox.

(So while MacFarlane and Levitan don’t work for Fox News, they work for the same people … and clearly, that association has gotten to them)

21st Century Fox is owned and chaired by Rupert Murdoch.

During the mid-1990s, Murdoch created Fox News. He hired Roger Ailes, a former Republican Party media consultant, to run it.

Ah, the infamous Fox News.

The self-described news network has been broadly criticized for a perceived conservative bias.

During the Presidencies of George W. Bush and Donald Trump, the network has been criticized by many as functioning as state-run television.

During the Obama administration, in contrast, the network aired segments in which various mouthpieces criticized President Obama’s choice in mustard and the color of his suit.

Now, various Trump administration scandals seem to get little to no mention on Fox News while every other network covers them.

Many blame Fox for working to warp the views that older Americans hold about the world and the country.

Tucker Carlson telling his viewers — most of whom are white, conservative, and noteably old — to simply disregard other news sources is deeply toxic, even for Fox News.

Kevin Spacey Accused of Harassment By 8 House of Cards Employees

Earlier this week, fans were shocked by allegations that Kevin Spacey had sexually assaulted a fellow actor at a 1986 cast party.

After the accusation went public, Spacey attempted to deflect attention by coming out as gay, and man who have worked with the actor hinted that his harassment of Anthony Rapp was not an isolated incident.

Today, we’re learning more about Spacey’s scandalous past thanks charges levelled by 8 current or former employees of the Netflix series House of Cards.

For five seasons, Spacey has drawn rave reviews for his performance as conniving politician Frank Underwood on the show.

In response to the allegations against him Netflix not only canceled House of Cards, but called for an immediate halt to production on the show’s sixth season, which was filming at the time.

Now, several crew members who worked with Spacey on the series have issued stunning allegations about the 58-year-old’s behavior on set.

“I have no doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position,” said one staffer, who alleged that he’d been assaulted by Spacey.

“It was a toxic environment for young men who had to interact with him at all in the crew, cast, background actors.”

The former production assistant alleged that he was groped by Spacey while driving the actor to set.

“I was in a state of shock,” he told CNN.

“He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there.”

In response to the latest allegations, Netflix issued a statement assuring users that execs had done everything in their power to assure that no further abuse takes place on the House of Cards set.

“Netflix was just made aware of one incident, five years ago, that we were informed was resolved swiftly,” said a rep for the streaming service.

“On Tuesday, in collaboration with MRC, we suspended production, knowing that Kevin Spacey wasn’t scheduled to work until Wednesday. Netflix is not aware of any other incidents involving Kevin Spacey on-set,” the statement continued.

On Thursday, Spacey checked into a treatment center to undergo therapy.

He has not responded publicly to this latest round of allegations.

We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

GrubHub CEO Calls For Resignation of Trump-Supporting Employees

In the wake of Donald Trump’s electoral victory over Hillary Clinton, many supporters of the Clinton campaign and sane human beings with respect for the foundations of western democracy are more than a little upset.

Obviously, we’re exaggerating, but emotions really are running pretty high these days, and as as the saying goes, bad people do bad things all the time, while good people do good things when they’re angry.

Sadly, this week has some a lot of good people being motivated by fear and outrage to do some pretty bad things.

To be clear, we’re not talking about the anti-Trump protests that are taking place in cities across the country.

Regardless of your feeling on the election or what kind of effect the demonstrations might have, it’s the right of every American to assemble and have their voice heard.

No, what we’re talking about is instances of Hillary supporters behaving deplorably on social media or abusing their power to take rather un-democratic action in the result of that they view as an unfair outcome.

The most highly-publicized example of the latter reaction came from the CEO of online food-ordering company GrubHub, Matt Maloney.

The day after the election Maloney sent out a company-wide email in which he (rightly) condemned Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric and abhorrent campaign promises.

Unfortunately, Maloney then took things a step further and informed his employees that if they disagree his views, he would prefer that they tender their resignations.

“I want to affirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I and everyone here at GrubHub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States,” he wrote.

“If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here. We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.”

Not surprisingly, Maloney’s email has sparked a firestorm that may have a lasting impact on the GrubHub brand.

(The company also owns several other popular online-ordering apps such as Seamless.)

Shares of GrubHub stock fell 4% on the day that the news of the email went public.

Maloney hastily issued an apology explaining that his message to employees had been misinterpreted:

“I have no problem with an employee voting for Trump,” he clarified.

“I have no problem with an employee agreeing with Trump’s hateful statements.

“However, I will not tolerate discriminatory activity or hateful speech at GrubHub, and I will stand up for our employees when they are demeaned or defamed.”

Naturally, hundreds have taken to social media to call for boycotts of GrubHub, offering further evidence that we should probably just divide the US up into two separate nations at this point.

We kid, of course.

No death threats in the comments, please!

Besides, we still order pizza and Chinese over the phone like the cranky old codgers that we are.
