House of Cards Season 6: It"s a Go! Sans Kevin Spacey!

The show will officially go on for Netflix.

It just be a different show than originally planned.

In the wake of Netflix severing ties with Kevin Spacey, due to the actor being accused of gross sexual misconduct, the streaming company has now announced that House of Cards is NOT going off the air.

A sixth season will, indeed, air.

It simply won’t feature Spacey’s Frank Underwood in any capacity.

Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos confirmed the news on Monday.

About a month ago, Netflix made the decision to part ways with Spacey after actor Anthony Rapp came forward with a scathing allegation:

He claimed Spacey attempted to sexually assault him in 1986, back when Rapp was only 14 years old.

The supposed incident took place in Spacey’s apartment and ended with Rapp fending off a drunken Spacey and fleeing the residence.

Since then, follow-up reports have stated that staffers on the House of Cards set also had many issues with Spacey, as some said he created a “toxic environment” with his inappropriate comments and actions.

Shortly afterward, Netflix released the following statement:

“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey.

“We will continue to work with [producer Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.”

Just how will Frank Underwood be written off the series?

It’s unclear at this time.

However, House of Cards unintentionally set itself up make Wright‘s Claire Underwood the lead character on last season’s finale.

In an eerie bit of foreshadowing, the episode ended with Wright’s newly-installed President looking into the camera and declaring: “It’s my turn.”

It really will be now.

Spacey has said nothing about being removed from the show that earned him many Emmy nominations.

He did, however, speak out right after Rapp’s accusations went public.

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor,” he wrote on Twitter, expounding as follows:

“I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.

“But if I did behave as he described, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”

He added:

“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life…

“As those closest to me know, in my life I have had romantic relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.

“I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

According to a rep, the embattled actor “is [now] taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment.”

Sounds like he needs it.

Kevin Spacey: Facing Jail Time Over Latest Sexual Assault Allegations?!

It’s only been one week since actor Anthony Rapp went public with accusations that he was sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey at the age of 14.

But in that short time, the former House of Cards star has watched his career and public reputation come tumbling down in dramatic fashion.

Earlier this week, Spacey was fired by Netflix over allegations of misconduct, and as with Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby before him, Spacey’s list of accusers just keeps getting longer.

The latest to level charges against the 58-year-old actor is a former Boston news anchor named Heather Unruh.

Baco on October 13, Unruh tweeted that “a loved one” had once been assaulted by Spacey.

“The #weinsteinscandal has emboldened me,” she wrote.

“I was a Kevin Spacey fan until he assaulted a loved one. Time the dominoes fell.”

Today, Unruh went into shocking specifics.

At a press conference held this afternoon, Unruh revealed that her then-18-year-old son was groped by Spacey last year:

“[Spacey] stuck his hand inside my son’s pants and grabbed his genitals,” Unruh told reporters.

“Nothing could have prepared my son for how that sexual assault would make him feel as a man,” she added.

“It harmed him and it cannot be undone.”

Forced to answer the usual questions about why her son didn’t immediately file a police report, Unruh responded:

“He knew the kind of attention that would result from making an accusation about such a public person. I can assure you that this is not the kind of attention anyone wants.”

Unruh says Spacey plied her son with “drink after drink” prior to assaulting him.

She says her son falsely told the actor that he was of legal age to consume, but adds, “whether he was over 21 or not, Kevin Spacey had no right to sexually assault him. There was no consent.”

According to Unruh, the molestation continued for over an hour and ended only when Spacey went to the restroom and a stranger advised her son to flee.

Unruh says she would like to see Spacey put behind bars for his crimes, and notes that she and her son have filed a police report in Nantucket, where the alleged incident took place.

We will have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Gay Talese to Kevin Spacey Victims: Suck It Up! Sheesh!

Gay Talese does not have time for your complaining, alleged victims of sexual abuse at the hands of Kevin Spacey.

The veteran writer and journalist doesn’t even want to heat from you at all.

Over the past week or so, Spacey has been accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by multiple actors and House of Cards employees.

Even worse, Spacey has basically been accused of attempted assault by Anthony Rapp.

At the end of October, Rapp went viral with the allegation that Spacey hurled him down on a bed back in 1986, when Rapp was only 14 years old.

(Spacey was 26 at the time.)

The Star Trek: Discovery star went on to detail how he fought Spacey off and ran into the bathroom, eventually leaving the premises and never really speaking of the incident again.

Certainly not in public, at least.

However, Rapp grew inspired of late by the many women who have come forward with accusations of assault and rape against Harvey Weinstein and decided to share his story in response.

Spacey, in turn, didn’t deny the charges.

He claimed he didn’t recall the night in question, but…

“If I did behave as he described, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”

Spacey statement

Spacey then drew some criticism (below) for choosing this time to come out of the closet.

“As those closest to me know, in my life I have had romantic relationships with both men and women,” he wrote, adding:

“I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”

Since Rapp’s accusation and Spacey’s basic admission, Netflix has fired Spacey from House of Cards because workers on that set have also come forward with harsh allegations against the Oscar winner.

They say his actions made for a “toxic” environment.

In other words: the Rapp incident was NOT a one-time thing.

But Talese, who has written such respected and beloved pieces as “Frank Sinatra Has a Cold” and who has worked for the most high-profile of publications, essentially has this to say to Rapp and others:

Shut your traps!

No, really.

“So, OK, it happened 10 years ago… Jesus, suck it up once in a while,” Talese told Vanity Fair at the annual Library Lions Gala yesterday.

He continued:

“I would like to ask [Spacey] how it feels to lose a lifetime of success and hard work all because of 10 minutes of indiscretion 10 years or more ago.”

Talese, who has authored 16 books, went on to explain that everyone is guilty of doing something they are ashamed of, including the Dalai Lama.

Ummm…. yes? Sort of? We guess?

Not everyone can say they’ve made unwanted sexual advances against a number of individuals, however.

Very few people can say that, really.

Heck, former Boston TV news anchor Heather Unruh alleged on Tuesday that Spacey stuck his hands down her 18-year old son’s pants and grabbed his penis last year at a party.

So we’re gonna take the opposite approach from Talese here:

We think everyone Spacey has ever harassed ought to speak loud and speak proud and make sure he never gets a job in Hollywood again.
