Ricki Lake Reveals Christian Evans" Tragic Cause of Death
Two weeks after her ex-husband’s tragic passing, Ricki Lake is coming clean about Christian Evans’ demons, and his cause of death.
The horrific truth about why he died, sadly, is what a lot of fans assumed when they first heard reports that Christian Evans was dead.
In a new interview, the former talk show host said that her ex, who suffered from bipolar disorder, committed suicide by gunshot in February.
“I’m in disbelief,” she tells People in its latest issue. “I have some bouts of peace, but it’s hard to swallow that this was supposed to happen.”
Days after sending his sister a suicide note, Christian Evans was discovered dead in his automobile with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was just 45 years old.
“I knew right then that he was gone. Everybody thought he was missing, but I knew,” Lake, 48, said of hearing about the letter’s existence.
“The struggle was just too much for him,” she added of her husband of three years (2012-2015). “[Christian] did the best he could.”
Evans previously threatened to end his life in a shocking suicide letter to a friend last fall (October 18), though he didn’t follow through.
“I had to sell most of my belongings to pay for a treatment center for bipolar and suicidal depression,” the late jewelry designer wrote.
“I’m in awful financial shape,” he wrote.
“Homeless in a custom Range Rover.”
Lake admits her former spouse’s sudden manic episodes led to their nasty 2014 breakup, saying “it was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”
To say Evans’ mood swings were extreme would be an understatement, according to his ex-wife, who paints a sad and scary picture:
“He thought he could fly. He thought he could cute cancer with his hands. It was horrific. He just wasn’t the person I had been with for four years.”
“He was giving my money away,” she says.
“He thought he was a God.”
Lake also confirmed previous reports that she and Evans reconciled after she filed divorce papers, though ultimately it didn’t work out.
“He wasn’t stable … But I was still in love with him, so there was something romantic about it,” she explains. “I wanted to save him.”
She says she last saw him just three days before he took his own life, and in his last text to her, he wrote, “Good night, I love you angel.”
In her interview, Lake said that she plans to scatter his ashes on their favorite beach in Spain, where they couple got engaged in Ibiza in 2011.

Christian Evans Dies; Ricki Lake Mourns Ex-Husband
Ricki Lake has shared some tragic news with fans.
In an emotional Instagram post, the former talk show host confirmed on Tuesday that her ex-husband, Christian Evans, has passed away.
He was 45 years old.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share that my beloved soulmate, Christian Evans has passed,” Lake wrote as a caption to the above image.
For those unfamiliar with Evans and his struggle, Lake continued:
“The world didn’t understand this man, but I did. He succumbed to his life long struggle with bipolar disorder. For anyone who has ever lost a family member or friend to mental illness, my heart goes out to you.
“I am a greater person for having known him and spent the past 6 and a half years of my life with him. He was a man of love and what mends my broken heart today is knowing that he is finally at peace and his spirit is free.
“Rest in peace, my love.”
Lake and Evans got engaged in August 2011 and eloped in April of the following year.
They were husband and wife for two years.
In October of 2014, The Ricki Lake Show host split from the jewelry designer, filing for divorce a week due to irreconcilable differences.
It wasn’t an amicable break-up, however.
Evans claimed in the divorce that Lake defrauded him in negotiating the prenuptial agreement and attempted setting it aside, asking for more than the couple initially agreed to.
The divorce became final in 2015.
Back in 2011, Lake told People Magazine of Evans:
He’s a “normal guy. We met through my best friend. He’s a nobody, but he’s somebody to me. He’s everything to me.”
In 2012, she told the same publication:
“We just clicked. It just feels like he was the right one all along.”
Lake was previously married to Rob Sussman, with whom she shared a 19-year old son named Milo and a 15-year old son named Owen.
We send our condolences to Ricki Lake and all who knew Christian Evans well.
May he rest in peace.

Golden Retriever SAVED From Icy Michigan Lake
The Winter is a tough enough time for us humans, but it"s even more tough for our little four-legged friends.
On Wednesday, December 28, 2016, a 14-year-old golden retriever found himself in a whole lot of trouble when he fell through a hole at White Lake.
Thankfully, local residents and the White Lake Fire Authority were on tap to help the furry friend make it back to the shore.
In the video below, you can see the daring rescue that successfully managed to reunite the little guy with the mainland.
Unfortunately, his owner was nowhere to be found, but Lana Carson, the director of Pound Buddies revealed that dog has been reunited with his owner sometime later.
It"s great when everything comes together. Right?
The White Lake Fire Authority later revealed that the rescue was their 1000th alarm of 2016.
They took the time to thank everyone who helped them out.
Read their statement below:
Thank you to the residents on shore, Muskegon County Animal Control Officer and Whitehall Police Chief Squiers for the assistance on this alarm. Most importantly, thank you to the Department staff that responded to this alarm making for a successful outcome. Captain McCarthy, Lieutenant Holman, Firefighter Achterhoff, Firefighter Tanis and Probationary Firefighter Hentschel without your response this would have been a very different situation. Greg Lake Dies: Emerson, Lake & Palmer Founder Was 69
Greg Lake – co-founder of pioneering prog-rock group Emerson, Lake & Palmer – has passed away.
He was 69 years old.
The news comes just nine months after the death of Keith Emerson, Lake’s former bandmate and lifelong friend.
The band’s sole surviving founding member, Carl Palmer, broke the news just moments ago:
“It is with great sadness that I must now say goodbye to my friend and fellow bandmate, Greg Lake,” read a statement issued by Palmer.
“Greg’s soaring voice and skill as a musician will be remembered by all who knew his music and recordings he made with ELP and King Crimson.
“I have fond memories of those great years we had in the 1970s and many memorable shows we performed together. Having lost Keith this year as well has made this particularly hard for all of us.
“As Greg sang at the end of Pictures at an Exhibition, ‘death is life.’ His music can now live forever in the hearts of all who loved him.”
A skilled lyricist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, many of Lake’s innovations would eventually become archetypal of the genre he helped to create.
After releasing six multi-platinum albums, ELP broke up in 1979 and reunited in 1991, before disbanding again and getting back together for a reunion tour in 2010.
Lake released several successful solo recordings, including “I Believe In Father Christmas”, which remains a seasonal staple in the U.K.
An outpouring of social media tributes quickly made Lake a trending topic on Twitter, with many remarking on the tremendous toll the past year has taken on the world of rock music or pointing out the sad irony of the singer of a beloved Christmas song passing just weeks before the holiday.
Lake was a member of the influential rock group King Crimson in the late ’60s, but it was his work with ELP that got the mainstream to stand up and take notice.
Band manager Stewart Young tells the press that Lake passed away after “a long and stubborn battle with cancer.”

Body of Boy Dragged by Alligator Into Disney Lake Found; Victim Was 2
The body of a boy who was attacked by an alligator has been found dead.
At 3:30pm ET today, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said that officials had retrieved the boy’s remains, after he was pulled into the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon around 9:00 p.m. ET Wednesday night, according to NBC News.
The boy’s mother and father were watching as he waded “along the lake’s edge at the time that the alligator attacked” (their four-year-old daughter was about “20 to 30” yards away from the water).
When the search first kicked off, Demings explained during a press conference how the series of events was hopeful.
The father had tried to pry the alligator’s mouth open to release his son, and the mother ran into the water to try and save him as the reptile dragged his prey away.
A lifeguard called 911 immediately after being alerted, and soon boats from Disney and law enforcement were combing the waters, looking for the victim.
Sonar devices were used, divers and alligator trappers did their best, but the outlook grew grim as the hours went by.
In a press conference earlier today, Demings warned that people had to prepare for the worst.
“The sad reality of it is it’s been several hours, and we’re not likely going to recover a live body,” he said.
Signs are posted all over resort beaches in Disney World, and no swimming is allowed in any of the lakes.
“They [alligators] were probably attracted to some motion on the bank,” executive director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Nick Wiley explained, according to USA Today. “That’s the way they stalk their prey.”
Experts believe the alligator mistook the boy for a dog or a raccoon.
No other details about the victim or his parents are available as of press time.

Keith Emerson Dies; Emerson, Lake & Palmer Keyboardist Was 71
Keith Emerson – the prog rock keyboardist who co-founded the legendary trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer – has passed away at the age of 71.
No cause of death has been given, but Emerson’s death was described as “sudden.”
Sources say the musician had plans to begin touring Japan next week. His girlfriend discovered his body this afternoon at his home in Santa Monica.
A pioneering figure in the 1970s rock scene, Emerson was the first musician to tour with a Moog synthesizer, an unwieldy, futuristic-sounding instrument that had previously only been used in studio sessions by bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Emerson was revered by musicians for his technical mastery, and beloved by audiences for his onstage antics, such as using knives to wedge down keys on his synthesizer, or playing two keyboards at once.
Along with Rick Wright or Pink Floyd and Tony Banks of Genesis, Emerson was one of the instrumentalists who did for organs and synthesizers what Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton had already for done for guitars.
Social media tributes to Emerson have been pouring in from all over the globe, and not surprisingly, many of them come from musicians who credit him for making keyboards cool and inspiring them to take piano lessons.

Florida Burglar Hides in Gator Lake, Gets Eaten By Gator
File this one under “pure, uncut Florida.”
A Florida man was doing Florida things (committing crimes), when he ran afoul of Florida cops and made the ill-fated decision to hide in a Florida lake known for its dense population of alligators.
Yes, you know where this is going, but we assure you, the rest of the story is worth your time.
22-year-old Matthew Riggins and a friend were burglarizing homes in the Barefoot Bay community of Southeast Florida when cops arrived on the scene and began to search the area.
Riggins – a Florida man if ever there was one – decided to try and evade authorities by hiding in a nearby lake.
Unfortunately, what he saw as an opportunity for escape, an 11-foot gator saw as lunchtime.
Riggins’ girlfriend reported him missing, and after a 10-day, they found his less tasty parts scattered around the lake. His hand and foot were found inside the gator.
Officials determined that Riggins was pulled below the surface and drowned, while the gator reportedly suffered severe indigestion.
A resident who was interviewed by a local news station summed the situation up perfectly when she said, “He hid in the wrong place.”
We can only hope that’ll be the inscription on Riggins’ tombstone.
Sadly, if Riggins had only tried attack the cops with their own badges or attempt to tickle his way out of the situation like Florida men before him, this story may not have had such a grisly ending.
As it is, Riggins can rest easy knowing he’s earned a place in the Florida Man Hall of Fame:
