Alex Rodriguez vs. Michael Strahan: Unexpected Feud Alert!
What does the most-hated man in the New York sports world have in common with one of its most-beloved figures?
Well, as it turns out, they’re both on TV, and they both can’t stand each other!
Yes, according to Radar Online, Michael Strahan and Alex Rodriguez are locked in a heated competition for airtime.
“Alex Rodriguez is everywhere!” an insider tells the site.
“Michael is feeling overshadowed — even though he’s six-foot-five!”
Yes, it seems Strahan is concerned about the possibility of Rodriguez edging him out as the TV world’s most in-demand former athlete.
Apparently, Michael was okay with Alex calling baseball games but now feels the disgraced ex-Yankee is trampling on his turf.
Sources claim Strahan was not happy when Rodriguez landed a spot on ABC’s Shark Tank and was seriously pissed off when the boyfriend of Jennifer Lopez was hired by Good Morning America.
Strahan, of course, has been a regular on GMA since 2016, and it seems he feels the show simply isn’t big enough for two retired jocks.
“Michael was irate,” a source spilled.
“He immediately felt threatened that Alex is being groomed to replace him.”
Part of the problem, it seems, is that Strahan and Rodriguez have remarkably similar personalities:
“They both have massive egos,” the insider says.
“Michael is seething that all anybody talks about is A-Rod.”
In addition, Strahan reportedly doesn’t believe the scandal-plagued Rodriguez deserves a second shot at stardom.
“Michael can’t believe the image renovation Alex has gotten on TV,” the source claims.
“He used to be hated. Now Michael is telling pals Alex is set to replace him!”
Frankly, we have a hard time believing this story.
Not because of how chill Strahan seems on TV.
Any seasoned media vet can fake a persona, and the man obviously has a competitive streak inside him, so it’s not hard to imagine him clashing with a younger up-and-comer.
No, the reason we’re not buying that Strahan feels threatened is that dude is on TV more than Big Bang Theory reruns.
We literally have no idea how the hell he sleeps.
The man is up at 5 am for Good Morning America; he films random crap like $ 100,000 Pyramid in the afternoons, and all football season he has to pretend to laugh at Terry Bradshaw’s jokes while doing Fox’s NFL pre-game show.
Besides, even if Strahan and A-Rod are really in direct competition with one another, at least they can both take comfort in the fact that they’re not Joe Buck.
Truly, there’s no worse fate than that.

Michael Strahan: Making Enemies at Good Morning America?
When Michael Strahan broke the single-season sack record in 2002, most observers believed he was given preferential treatment by Brett Favre.
The quarterback, a close friend of the defensive lineman’s, very clearly ran right at Strahan and then basically fell down in order to ensure Strahan recorded sack number 22.5.
But that’s nothing compared to the preferential treatment sources claim Strahan is receiving from producers at Good Morning America.
“They roll out the carpet for him, while seasoned talent is treated like dirt,” a source tells Page Six of The New York Post of Strahan, adding:
“He’s been given a lot of opportunity [and] flexibility, when the others who have been working there longer don’t get that kind of treatment.”
Interesting, huh?
Strahan, of course, bolted for GMA under somewhat controversial circumstances.
About a year ago, ABC announced that Strahan would leave Live with Kelly and Michael for a new, permanent role on its flagship morning program.
But Kelly Ripa only learned about this departure at the last second, causing her to react with anger… causing major tension between the co-hosts for the duration of Strahan’s role on Live… and then causing him to depart the program four months earlier than originally planned.
He debuted on GMA in September and was welcomed with open arms at the time by Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
That was then, however.
Now?
Strahan signed a unique deal that allows him to continue to analyze football at Fox during the NFL season and also host ABC’s “$ 100,000 Pyramid.”
Such an arrangement has alienated Strahan from his GMA colleagues, as has his alleged behavior on set.
Lara Spencer “feels like her role has been minimized with Strahan,” Page Six writes, with the insider explaining:
There’s not a lot of love between the two. They know how to put it on for the cameras, but he’s doing a lot of what Lara should be doing [on the show] and she’s not happy. She’s the pop person.”
Stephanopoulos has also had it with Strahan.
“He’s bored with the fluff,” the newspaper claims of Stephanopoulos, a former political operative who doesn’t like the direction Strahan has taken the show in.
“He goes into work, does the show and leaves by 8:57 a.m. He doesn’t interact. He’s been phoning it in for quite some time.”
However, an ABC News executive was given a chance to respond and disputed a lot of this account.
First, regarding Strahan and Spencer, he or she says the following:
“That’s just bullsh-t. They get along great. She loves having someone with his sense of humor on the show. Michael is lovely with the staff.
As for the assertion that Stephanopoulos isn’t giving it his all at work?
“The idea that George is phoning it in is absurd,” this same source says, adding:
He gets to GMA at, like, 3 in the morning. He works 16 hours a day. He goes home because he does all of the special reports in addition to GMA, and he’s calling sources and getting ready for his Sunday show.
“He comes back to the office in the afternoon . . . And he’s incredibly engaged in the news coming out of DC right now.”
As for any perceived struggles at the show?
This executive looks to the only barometer of success and scoffs at any notion of trouble.
“We’ve tripled our lead over the Today show [in total viewers]. The show has never been better.”

Michael Strahan Loves GMA, Doesn"t Miss Kelly Ripa
Michael Strahan has said goodbye to Kelly Ripa.
And he"s basically saying good riddance as well.
Not in those exact words, of course, but it"s pretty clear at this point that the former football star and co-host of Live with Kelly and Michael is happy with his new career course.
Back in the spring, Strahan announced he was leaving his full-time position at Live for a full-time position at Good Morning America, a decision that was apparently news to Ripa.
She was upset that she learned of the move at the last second, and she made her dissatisfaction pretty well known.
After not appearing on her own program for a couple days, Ripa returned to Live and then awkwardly sat next to Strahan for a few weeks until he made his departure.
It was the epitome of trainwreck television.
So, how does Strahan feel about his new gig, which got underway this week?
Quite awesome, thank you very much!
“GMA has been great. It’s earlier obviously,” Strahan told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Wednesday.
He continued:
“I’m getting up a lot earlier. I start at 7, I’ve got to be there a little earlier than that, but it’s been great because it’s so interesting and I’m learning.
"So every job I’ve had I’ve just learned along the way, and this one is interesting because of all the stories involving so many different things that are new to me and I’m loving it.”
Strahan didn"t talk about leaving Ripa at all.
But his silence spoke volumes.
“I’m cool, like now, but the second the cameras go off or somebody walks up to me, I’m like this,” he said, bowing his head and looking away.
“And when I was a kid and I played football and I was 7 or 8 I cried the entire game. I didn’t like the applause. I didn’t like the cheering. It scared me. I didn’t like the attention, and I still don’t in some ways."
As for Kelly? She made her own announcement on Wednesday.
She is yet to decide on a replacement for Strahan, but she"ll soon be welcoming a fan to sit next to her for one special episode.
Using social media, someone out there can actually serve as co-host one morning down the line.
"Now it"s time to put your mouths where your thumbs are," Ripa quipped yesterday morning, after noting that she’d read social media comments calling her job easy.
"I"m building a co-host empire."
Watch Strahan speak to Fallon about football below and sound off: Do you miss him on Live?

Michael Strahan Debuts on Good Morning America: Good Riddance, Ripa!
Michael Strahan is ready to tackle a new challenge.
A few months after his very awkward and contentious exit from Live! with Kelly and Michael, the former New York Giants defensive star made his debut Tuesday as a full-time anchor on Good Morning America.
And while Strahan was basically shown the door in angry fashion by Kelly Ripa back in May, he was welcomed warmly to the morning desk by colleagues George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts this morning.
You can see the opening few moments for yourself below.
They included a few cheers from those on set, behind the scenes:
“This is @GMA, with @RobinRoberts, @GStephanopoulos & @michaelstrahan!”
Great to have you here full time, Michael! https://t.co/thDERIgM9J
— Good Morning America (@GMA) September 6, 2016
“This is GMA with RobinRoberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan,” said the voiceover, while Roberts joked that this feels like “the first day of school.”
For many kids around the country, of course, today is the first day of school.
“The only thing I’m missing is my Spider-Man lunchbox,” Strahan joked.
Strahan has appeared numerous times before as a GMA correspondent, but he announced this spring that he was leaving Live to pursue that gig full-time.
Ripa, according to many sources, was not informed of this decision before the public was made aware of the move.
She responded in understandable anger, not showing up for a work for a couple of days out of protest.
When she did finally come back, she and Strahan tried to joke around about the career change, but their interactions were nothing but forced and tense until Strahan’s departure on May 13.
To wit:
In response to this awkward set-up, Strahan moved his exit date way up.
When he originally announced he was leaving Live, Strahan said it would make the switch in September.
But producers couldn’t possibly continue with Ripa and Strahan as co-hosts for much longer, resulting in the latter getting the heck out of there four months earlier than initially planned.
I’m not dying! I’m still in the family!” he said on air upon making the GMA announcement, adding:
“And I’m still available to come back if I’m ever called to co-host so I’m not going anywhere. I’m not gone.”
Yeah. We somehow doubt he’ll ever be called upon for that.
Ripa is yet to announce a permanent replacement for Strahan, following rumors that the two hated each other away from set.
But Strahan is clearly keeping his eyes on the future, not the past.
He will co-anchor the ABC morning show each weekday and he recently told People Magazine of accepting the new position:
“Can’t wait to be there full-time. Great, great family to work with over there, I’m looking forward to it.”
Fair enough.
With our eyes also affixed to the future, above is a look at stars we’d love to see take over Strahan’s old seat alongside Kelly.
Who would your ideal co-host be?

Michael Strahan Throws Shade at Kelly Ripa: Now I Can Have Fun!
You probably thought the Kelly Ripa-Michael Strahan feud was over, didn’t you?
You probably assumed this unexpected rivalry had ended after Strahan left Live! on ABC after an ugly professional divorce, right?
Apparently not.
The former football star departed Live! on acrimonious terms this spring, following three successful years that saw him grow into a certified media star.
He has originally planned to stick around until the fall before leaving for a full-time gig with Good Morning America…
… but Kelly Ripa reacted harshly to the way in which she found out about his career change and Strahan’s departure date was moved up to May 13.
That’s what happens when there’s such tension on the set every day that one co-host blindsides the other co-host with a reference to his divorce:
According to insiders, Ripa was “livid” over not being well-informed over Strahan’s future, only being told about his Good Morning America decision immediately before the public learned of it.
The subsequent set of episodes that featured Kelly and Michael were as awkward as live television can get.
So… after a crazy last few months, what has Strahan learned?
He was asked this question by E! News this week and replied as follows:
“You know what? I’ve learned to have fun. Life is not that serious.”
Whoa there! Is there any way to take that other than as a direct shot aimed at Ripa?
It doesn’t sound like he had a blast working along her side, does it? At least not over the past few weeks.
Strahan made his comments Thursday while standing beside his 11-year-old twin daughters, Sophia and Isabella; they were at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s screening of Ice Age: Collision Course in New York.
The star has a speaking role in that animated film.
“We have so many things that happen that make you realize how precious life is, how you’d better enjoy every day and that your attitude is – you can determine what your attitude is,” Strahan told E! News.
He added:
“You wake up, you make yourself happy, you make yourself whatever you want it to be, and that’s how I look at it every day that I wake up and that’s been more than in the last few months.
“That’s just the way I live my life.”
That all sounds great. There’s no way to argue with that philosophy.
But there’s no way to look at it as anything but a diss of Ripa, either.

Michael Strahan to Pen Scathing Memoir About Kelly Ripa?
Michael Strahan has already left Live! for Good Morning America.
But that doesn’t mean the talk show host is done with Kelly Ripa, not according to a new tabloid cover story.
The latest issue of Star claims that Strahan has a $ 10 million offer on the table to pen a memoir that will reveal endless secrets about his former colleague.
An anonymous insider tells the magazine that Strahan would “relish telling his side of the story” of why he ditched one ABC program for another.
Strahan, of course, announced in mid-April that he would depart Live! in September in order to become a full-time part of Good Morning America.
But Ripa felt disrespected enough by the way in which ABC handled this announcement to stage a mini-boycott of her own show.
She eventually returned… talked about the need for respect in the workplace… and then awkwardly sat next to Strahan for the next few weeks until he ended up leaving on May 13.
What might a Strahan memoir include?
Details on how Live! employees supposedly dislike Ripa, and “how icy-cold she can be toward anyone she deems beneath her.”
The magazine writes that Ripa would also tell Strahan “very private, intimate stuff” about her marriage to Mark Consuelos… all of which Strahan is now prepared to spill to the public!
Michael has “seen the worst side of Kelly, and he could blow apart her carefully constructed image and ultimately humiliate her,” the bombshell report claims.
Ever since Strahan confirmed his job change, there’s been talk that he and Ripa have hated each other for years.
And this may very well be true.
But Strahan has still carved out a reputation as one of television’s most beloved morning personalities. It seems very hard to believe that he’d risk that for a few million bucks.
The guy has raked in plenty already from his professional football career and his new GMA gig.
Ripa, meanwhile, has possibly gone rogue.
She has also lined up a number of guest co-hosts, with no decision about a permanent fellow anchor expected any time soon.
We have a few suggestions, however…

Kelly Ripa: Michael Strahan Farewell Can"t Come Soon Enough!
Ok bai.
That is how we’re envisioning Kelly Ripa’s parting words to Live! co-host Michael Strahan on May 13th, when he leaves the show after four years for a new gig at Good Morning America.
Sources from the set tell TMZ that Ripa “barely says a word” to Strahan when the cameras stop rolling.
Their usual drill of Strahan knocking on Ripa’s dressing room door to walk out on stage together no long exists.
Instead, Ripa just walks out of her room “without even acknowledging him.”
Gone are the days when Ripa would leave the door open while she was in makeup so Strahan could pop in and say hello.
This is the complete opposite of what Ripa preached when she returned to Live!, when she insisted that the lines of communication in the workplace need to be open in order for everyone to be happy and productive.
TMZ reports that the staffers believe Strahan did nothing wrong to deserve Ripa’s silent treatment.
“All he did was agree to be a good soldier and go to another show on the same network … per bosses orders,” according to TMZ.
New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Matt Bomer are booked as tomorrow’s guests, according to the site.
Following Strahan’s departure, Ripa will be joined by guest co-hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Fred Savage, Seal and Andy Cohen.
It’s rumored that Ripa’s friend, Anderson Cooper will permanently replace Strahan, but there’s been no official confirmation yet.
On Wednesday, Ripa joked on-air that she might move the show to Los Angeles after Strahan’s departure.
The New Jersey native is this week’s People cover girl, and she explained that her daughter is looking at schools, and will likely go west.
“Lola, I am certain, will go to college in California,” Ripa told the magazine.
“She’s been wanting to live in California since she saw that Hannah Montana movie a thousand years ago.”
So yesterday, Strahan brought it up.
“Eventually I would have to go, right?” she asked.
“And then I could be a Hollywood wife.”

Kelly Ripa on Michael Strahan: He"s Not a Monster!
Kelly Ripa may not be speaking to Michael Strahan before live shows any longer.
But the bubbly TV personality does open up in the latest issue of People.
Just as Ripa did when she made her return to the program a few weeks ago, the host makes it very clear in this cover story that she doesn’t believe ABC treated her with respect upon announcing that Strahan would be leaving Live! for Good Morning America.
As the story goes, Ripa learned of this big career move – which has significant impact on her career, as well – basically at the same time as the American public.
She was not cool with that. At all.
“There’s a part of me that can say, ‘Okay, I understand. This may have been an oversight,"” Ripa tells People of getting the information so late.
“And again, after 26 years, at this point we are like a family.
“And sometimes when you are so comfortable with somebody, you may not give them the same consideration as somebody you’re not as comfortable with – a certain formality falls away.”
It’s sort of like the Jerry Seinfeld bit where you actually spend less time waiting somewhere for a friend to meet you than you would for a stranger.
At least to us it’s sort of like that.
Upon being told by executives that Strahan was leaving, Ripa said she needed the following day off – and then she jetted to the tropics for a pre-planned vacation.
As you can see in the clip below, Ripa then explained to viewers that the tiff boiled down to “communication, consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace.”
“I think that all people are deserving of fair treatment in the work place. People deserve respect,” Ripa reiterates here to the magazine. “People should be treated equally and with dignity.”
Ripa adds:
“I think that requires a certain amount of empathy on a level. When you’re dealing with big business, it’s easy to forget that you’re dealing with people and that people have feelings.
“It’s easy to just look at it like a business unit, a unit, a unit.”
The chemistry between Ripa and Strahan clearly seems off these days, although Ripa is quick to say that “I’m not dealing with monsters” in this awkward case.
“I don’t think of anybody as a monster or out to get me.”
So that’s… something we guess.
Is she “excited” for Strahan to start his new GMA job? Yes. She believes it is a “perfect match” of show and co-host.
And, at the end of the day, Ripa and the many people who work at Live! have been assured that the show isn’t going anywhere.
“People make mistakes, and we’re all human,” she concludes. “They’re human and I’m human. We all have these moments, and it’s about how you move forward and how you begin again.”
Kelly Ripa to Michael Strahan: Talk to the Door!
Michael Strahan will depart Live! on Friday, bidding farewell to the show that jump started his post-football career and moving on to a full-time Good Morning America gig.
In response, Kelly Ripa is all broken up.
She’s sad. She’s despondent. She’s practically begging Strahan to stick around and opening up her arms to him every morning before work.
No… wait. We take that back.
It’s actually the exact opposite.
According to TMZ, Ripa isn’t making any attempt backstage to hide her disdain for her soon-to-be former co-host.
Prior to Ripa learning (at the last moment) that Strahan was leaving the show, and subsequently went on a mini protest of her own, the former soap opera actress would keep her makeup door open each morning, a source claims.
She would happily greet Strahan prior to each episode and the two would chat for a bit.
But not any longer.
Now, TMZ confirms that Ripa’s door is closed on a daily basis, most likely because she’s sending a message to Strahan.
And that message is pretty much this: you suck. I can’t wait for you to be gone from my life.
The tension between Ripa and Strahan has been evident on air ever since Kelly returned from her self-imposed hiatus a couple weeks ago.
There was the time she brought up her colleague’s divorce out of nowhere, much to Strahan’s chagrin:
And there the time these two awkwardly celebrated their Daytime Emmy Awards victory, despite clearly not liking each other:
Insiders also say that Strahan’s final show will be fairly low-key. There will be a few flashback segments, but nothing too sentimental.
That’s probably because Strahan and Ripa hate each other.
We’ll be tuning in for Strahan’s final show on Friday, just to see how strained the goodbye comes across on live television. Will you?

Kelly Ripa Finally Tells Viewers That Michael Strahan is Leaving Early
The most entertaining/awkward show on television these days did not fail to disappoint this morning.
On the latest installment of Live with Kelly and Michael, the co-hosts finally decided to tell viewers that Michael Strahan will be leaving the program on May 13.
When Strahan initially announced he was departing Live! for a full-time anchoring gig on Good Morning America, he had set September as his end date.
But then Ripa got angry over how she was told of the news… staged a brief boycott… returned with a speech about “respect” in the work place… and Strahan’s departure date was moved up four months.
There was a statement by ABC and everything, yet Kelly and Michael didn’t actually address Strahan’s impending final episode until today.
And it went down in very awkward fashion, of course.
“A week from this Friday is Michael’s final show here at Live!,” said Ripa, as the audience began booing.
One attendee then shouted “we still love you, Kelly!” and Ripa quipped:
“Thanks! I’m still here!”
She’s very broken up about Strahan’s switching programs, as you can tell.
As for what viewers can expect from Michael’s last episode?
“We’ll remember. We’ll reminisce,” he said. “We’re going to look back at the fun times we’ve had together – wait till you see all the stuff that we’ve done, you’re not going to believe it.”
Most loyal fans can’t believe the recent report that ran down all the ways in which Strahan sucks backstage.
“Join us for Michael’s Flashback Friday Farewell on Friday the 13th,” Ripa said, prior to cracking up over the ominous date and adding:
“You can’t plan this! You literally cannot plan it.”
That’s actually exacted what ABC executives did. They planned the date on which Strahan would leave. But whatever.
Strahan, meanwhile, attended the MET Gala in New York City on Monday night.
Asked by Entertainment Tonight about his upcoming gig, he said all the right things about his soon-to-be-formed one:
“I’m looking forward to [GMA], but I still look forward to going to work at Live!. I love being there. I still love it.”
Really, Michael? Even during exchanges such as the one below?

Michael Strahan is the One Who Sucks, New Report Alleges
Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan won the Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday night for Best Entertainment Talk Show for their work on Live! With Kelly and Michael.
But neither was on hand to receive the trophy.
You really need to ask why, do you?
Ripa and Strahan have dominated all television headlines over the past two weeks, following Strahan’s announcement that he is moving full-time to Good Morning America.
This was followed by Ripa skipping a couple days of work out of protest… returning and telling the world that she deserved “respect” in the work place… and ABC then moving up Strahan’s departure date by four months.
Since then, the stars have worked together on screen.
But let’s just say it’s been a bit awkward at times:
Who is at fault for the dissolution of this partnership?
A previous report outlined how Kelly Ripa is a demanding diva, but Page Six now writes that Strahan became very hard to work with over the years.
“When he had first agreed to go on ‘GMA,’ she said, ‘Watch what’s going to happen,"” an insider says of Ripa’s reaction to Strahan appearing twice per week on that program.
“She knew that when he started doing that, [leaving ‘Live’] would be his goal.”
Indeed, the newspaper source alleges that Ripa took issue with Strahan’s lack of commitment to their show; while Strahan was unhappy over being Ripa’s lesser paid sidekick.
According to multiple outlets, Kelly makes around $ 20 million per year and Strahan makes around $ 4 million per year.
This scathing exclusive claims Strahan would “show up late to tapings” and annoy folks backstage with his entourage.
Yes, Strahan was very charismatic on camera, but “when he doesn’t need to be on, he shuts down and can be selfish,” according to someone supposedly in the know.
Strahan also allegedly butted heads with producer Michael Gelman very often.
“She really loves the show,” an insider says of Ripa. “She knows how lucky she is to have it. For him, it’s a temporary home and this was clear to the people who were working there.”
As a result of the tension between co-hosts, Ripa started to “freeze [Strahan] out,” Page Six writes.
The former football great is reportedly receiving a raise to eight figures to be a permanent fixture on GMA.
However…
“He’s walking into a propeller,” Andy Cohen warns.
“He’s strong but he better watch out, because the knives are out and all the different stars are positioning themselves to attack. I hope he’s ready.”

Michael Strahan Live Replacement: Who Will It Be... For Now?
With Michael Strahan on his way out of Live! in just a couple weeks, attention has now turned from the current co-host to Kelly Ripa’s next co-host.
After Strahan initially made the announcement that he’ll be leaving the program to become a full-time anchor on Good Morning America, Ripa took a few days to deal with the shock and anger over the way in which this decision was handled.
She then returned on Tuesday, explained herself a bit and acted like everything was all good with Strahan.
A few hours later, Strahan’s departure was moved up from September to May 13.
But forget the former New York Giants star for now (something Ripa clearly would like to do).
Who will fill Strahan’s seat on Live until a permanent replacement is found?
“The network does have a long roster of people who will step in to guest host,” a source tells People Magazine, adding:
“They’ll do the same thing they did when they found Michael … they’ll rotate a bunch of people in.
Okay, but can you give us a few ideas of who those famous people will be?
“Expect to see people like Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, Josh Groban and Seth Meyers. They all came on a lot last time and she loved them,” the source teases.
“[Ripa] is really close with Anderson and Andy and she loves them. But she’s open to trying a bunch of different people. It was clear she really liked the process last time.”
A recent report claimed Ripa might actually quit if the co-hosting gig were not given to Cooper and Cohen.
But she’s making a ton of money (at least $ 15 million per year) and she must know that Cooper is busy with the election on CNN and Cohen is contracted to Bravo.
We don’t see her just up and walking away.
This mole can’t predict how long it will take to officially replace Strahan, either. But the show will not be in any kind of rush to do so.
“Who knows how long it will take though,” says the insider. “They’re prepared to keep cycling people through even if its not resolved by the fall.”
Who do you want to see sitting alongside Ripa in the future?
Consider the following options and weigh in below:

Michael Strahan is Actually Leaving Live! Next Month
Remember this morning? When Kelly Ripa said she loves Michael Strahan and wished him the best in his move to Good Morning America?
She totally and completely meant it…
… and then she made sure the door didn’t hit Strahan on the way out.
Indeed, just a few hours after Ripa made her triumphant return to Live! and also made very nice with her co-host of nearly four years, ABC has released a statement that says Strahan will leave the program on May 13.
He was initially supposed to stick around until September before making the move to Good Morning America.
“After meeting with the producers of both Live and Good Morning America, and after speaking with Kelly and Michael, we have decided on a plan that best advantages both shows for the future,” a show spokeswoman told Entertainment Weekly.
The statement continued:
“To that end, Michael’s last day on Live will be on Friday, May 13, which not only gives the show the chance to have a nice send-off for him during the May book, but to also immediately begin the on-air search for a new co-host.
“This plan also allows GMA to start integrating Michael into the show more often this summer before his full-time start in September.”
Left unmentioned?
Ripa clearly hates Strahan and could not wait to rid herself of the ex-New York Giants defensive star.
It was only a week ago when Strahan announced he was leaving one ABC series for another.
But neither he nor anyone at ABC gave Ripa a heads-up, which greatly angered the woman who has been helming Live! since 2004.
In response, Ripa took one unscheduled day off from the show and then left on a family vacation.
In her remarks this morning, which you can watch above, she makes no secret of the fact that she felt disrespected by how Strahan’s departure was handled.
The network, however, issued her an apology and has now seemingly gone one step further:
They’ve made it so that Kelly has to spend as little time sitting next to Strahan as possible.
WHO DO YOU THINK OUGHT TO REPLACE MICHAEL STRAHAN?
