Derick Dillard: Trans People Are Mentally Ill!
Back in November of 2017, Derick Dillard was fired by TLC after he launched an unprovoked attack against fellow network star Jazz Jennings.
Jennings is a transgender teen who also stars in a TLC reality series.
For reasons that remain unclear, Derick went on the offensive against Jazz, criticizing her for starring in “a reality show that promotes an unreality.”
Fans were quick to push back against Derick’s comment, but rather than apologize, he doubled down, launching a second attack against Jennings.
These days, Derick is sticking to his guns and continuing to express his transphobic views on social media.
He’s also still going after his former bosses at TLC, which seems to suggest that this as much about Derick settling a personal grudge as it is about his views on the trans community.
As The Ashley’s Reality Roundup points out Derick deleted the ignorant tweet below earlier this week:
“I really hope this is a series showing the devastation that mental illness causes, rather than assuming that these challenges are simply evidences of an improving society. #optimism,” he wrote.
His comments refer to a TLC show entitled Lost In Transition.
A description of the series on the network’s website reads:
“Told from the wives’ point of view, the series examines the confusion, anger, disappointment, and uncertainty that each couple goes through.”
Apparently, Derick hopes the show will present the transition process as a devastating symptom of mental illness.
He may be in for a long wait if he’s hoping for a mainstream TV show that shares his bigoted worldview.
This new tirade is just the latest in a long line of attacks against television series that Derick decries for celebrating a sinful way of life.
Last month, Derick attacked Nate Berkus, star of TLC’s Nate and Jeremiah By Design, describing Berkus and his husband and daughter as “a travesty of family.”
“[Their lifestyle] affect(s) this poor child, as well as what perversions are celebrated,” Derick wrote.
“If it were adultery, I doubt a network would be so quick to focus on the reality of it as if it were OK.”
For obvious reasons, Dillard has been rapidly losing support in recent weeks, and even his wife, Jill Duggar, has distanced herself from his remarks.
Yes, it seems that even in the Duggar family, certain views are simply too repugnant to be entertained.

Caitlyn Jenner Bashes Trump: He"s the Worst EVER for Trans Rights!
Last year, like so many Trump voters, Caitlyn Jenner expressed bewilderment at Donald Trump’s policies and behavior.
But at times, she seemed ambivalent, following up criticisms with wearing a MAGA hat.
Now, however, she’s speaking out in no uncertain terms that Trump is “the worst ever” for trans rights.
On Thursday night, Caitlyn Jenner spoke about Trump to Newsweek at the Champions of Jewish Values International Awards Gala.
“As far as trans issues, this administration has been the worst ever.”
After historic gains in the LGBT+ community’s civil rights during the Obama administration, there have been massive setbacks under Trump.
“They’ve set our community back 20 years, easily.”
Part of that, of course, being Trump rescinding protections that allow public school trans students to safely use restrooms that match their gender.
Under Trump, trans students just have to hope that they go to a non-discriminatory school district. And that’s just part of the Trump administration’s pushes against transgender rights.
“It’s going to be hard to change,” Caitlyn says. “But we’ve been through these types of things before, and we’ll continue to fight it.”
Civil rights setbacks are to be expected from Trump, the man who launched his campaign by demeaning Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and who went to great lengths to appeal to his base of ignorant and bigoted voters.
But to some, including Caitlyn, this is a surprise.
See, Trump’s history of racism is well documented and goes back for decades.
In terms of transgender rights, however, he’s been viewed as somewhat progressive. For years, he allowed trans women to compete in beauty pageants.
During the 2016 Republican Primaries, Trump stated that Caitlyn Jenner — by name — could use “any bathroom she chooses” at Trump Tower. She even took him up on that.
He also said that North Carolina, whose legislature and famously despised one-term governor Pat McCrory had pushed through HB2 which banned civil rights ordinances, should allow trans North Carolinians to use whichever public restrooms they feel are appropriate.
Caitlyn Jenner has been a lifelong Republican, so he hoped that the Republican party would wholly accept her.
She also felt determined to take Trump at his word, despite warnings from basically every trans woman she knew — including actress Candis Cayne — that Trump was a danger tot he LGBT+ community.
It’s true that Trump never showed a personal investment in destroying the LGBT+ community. He’s not Mike Pence.
But … she was forgetting that a large part of the Republican party’s base sees trans people as a threat, and that Trump would need to court their approval.
Particularly in an effort to win over socially conservative legislators and to distract his base from his basically daily scandals.
In other words, Caitlyn forgot that her own party’s values do not value her or her community.
(This tweet remains evergreen for a reason, folks)
In some ways, Caitlyn Jenner has been a powerful spokeswoman for the trans community, using her platform to raise awareness and even to indirectly help other trans folks come out to their families.
She epically shut down Piers Morgan’s inappropriate questions about her genitals, which are none of anyone’s business.
At the same time, others feel that by voicing support for Donald Trump and Ted Cruz over the years, politicians who are a threat to trans rights, she’s betrayed her own community.
When she was confronted and called a fraud last year, it was because she enjoys the lifestyle of a rich white celebrity and is wildly out of touch with the lives of most trans women who have to live under Trump.
In other words, if she thinks that Trump’s policies are bad, it’s all so much worse for countless others.
Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the military, a transparent appeal to his base of voters, has been rejected as discrimination.
The Pentagon is standing up for the troops.
But other things — like rescinding protections for trans students — will have to be undone by future Presidents.
Will Caitlyn Jenner put her foot in her mouth in future elections, and end up backing other anti-trans candidates because she thinks that, as a rich woman, they’ll represent her interests?
Or has she learned her lesson from Trump? Has America learned its lesson from Trump?
Only time will tell.

Caitlyn Jenner Confronted by Trans Woman: You"re a Fraud!
Despite her acclaim when she first came out as trans, Caitlyn Jenner has been slammed by the trans community multiple times.
Caitlyn is one of the world"s most famous transgender women and she was a celebrity well before that, giving her a massive platform. But many in the LGBT community feel that she"s misused it and refused to listen to people who"ve publicly fought for rights longer than she has.
Now, Caitlyn"s been publicly confronted by a very heated trans woman who told her exactly what she thought of her. And it was all caught on video:
In case you need a refresher on why many trans folks feel that Caitlyn Jenner is problematic for the community, remember that Caitlyn voiced support for both Ted Cruz and Donald Trump during the Republican primaries in 2016.
Ted Cruz, of course, is a vocal opponent of transgender rights.
(Caitlyn hoped to advise him on the issue)
Despite having so many flaws that he"s really more of an orange miasma, Donald Trump was really the only GOP hopeful who voiced support for trans rights.
After he said something along the lines of "Caitlyn Jenner can use any bathroom at Trump Tower she likes," Cait took him at his word and stopped by and used the women"s restroom.
In the heat of the bathroom bills, where social conservatives were freaking out because trans people exist and some city governments respect their rights, Trump"s statement was a huge deal.
Caitlyn went on to support Trump and criticize Hillary Clinton even on her series, I Am Cait, to the dismay of her viewers and also to literally all of her costars, including Candis Cayne.
At the time, she did snap a photo with her fellow costars and Hillary Clinton, indicating a willingness to listen to her friends who"ve been fighting for trans rights a lot longer than she has.
But ultimately, Caitlyn was vocally supportive of Trump until only very recently, when Trump (while panicking over dwindling popularity and innumerable scandals) announced his plan to ban transgender folks from the US military.
Trump made that official last Friday, as a Category Four hurricane slammed into Texas and as North Korea launched more missiles, right before taking even more time off.
That"s a move that"s certainly prompted by Mike Pence"s desire for the LGBT community to no longer exist.
Another motive is almost certainly to excite Trump"s base, many are whom are disappointed that he hasn"t actually accomplished anything, for good or ill, that he set out to do while campaigning.
Well, if Caitlyn"s hoping her possible political career will see endorsements from trans women, she has another thing coming.
On Sunday, Cait attended the Trans Chorus event in Los Angeles, where transgender activist and editor Ashlee Marie Preston approached her.
Caitlyn responds, as you"ll see in the video, by going in for a hug, assuming that she"s meeting a fan.
She was not meeting a fan.
And Preston told her exactly what she thinks about Caitlyn"s politics:
"It’s really f–ked up that you continue to support somebody…that does everything with the military, that’s erasing our f–king community. And you support it."
She even directed some words at Caitlyn"s companion, Dena Williams.
"As long as we continue to be the ones that are most impacted by the choices that you make, it is not OK. We are complicit. Taking her money and doing all that? It makes us complicit. It goes against the mission."
The mission being for trans people to be treated like human beings with rights and dignity instead of discriminated against and, too often, murdered.
"How are we gonna fight anyone if she’s giving money to the people that are destroying us?"
That"s a fair question.
When Cait responded: "You don"t know me," Preston responded:
"Yes I do! You"re a f–king fraud and a fake!"
Some criticize Preston for having confronted Caitlyn in public when she was trying to do something else.
We"d ask where else Preston was going to get to speak her mind to Caitlyn Jenner?
Others criticized her for being rude or for being an "angry black woman."
We should remember that gay rights as we know them, and the movement for them, was started by another "angry black trans woman."
Marsha P. Johnson was part of the spark that gave birth to the push that made marriage equality the law of the land, nationwide, just a few years ago.
Not all change can come from politeness, though not all of us are cut out for being confrontational.

Caitlyn Jenner SLAMMED By Trans Community Following Instagram Joke
To say Caitlyn Jenner is a divisive figure would be a massive understatement.
The Olympian-turned reality star-turned trans rights advocate has effectively pissed off those on both ends of the political spectrum since coming out on the cover of Vanity Fair in 2015.
In the months after introducing herself as Cait, Jenner was embraced by the trans community and celebrated as the most famous transgender woman on the planet.
Surprisingly, however, Jenner clung to her conservative political beliefs after transitioning, a decision that bewildered and outraged many who had once supoorted her.
Jenner’s support of Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican primaries and Donald Trump in the general election created the impression that she has little sympathy for members of the LGBTQ community from less privileged backgrounds.
Through it all, Jenner has stuck to her guns, proving that for better or worse, she is very much a woman who contains multitudes.
Now Cait is embroiled in yet another controversy, this one having to do with a joke she made on Instagram.
Jenner posted the below photo of herself with Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler on Tuesday night.
Her caption for the pic attracted loads of negative attention.
“@iamstevent and I are working on our duet for Dude Looks Like a Lady. One of my favorite songs!” Jenner wrote, in reference to one of the band’s more famous songs.
Many have complained that the post is insensitive and perpetuates negative perceptions of trans women.
Caitlyn appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, where she clarified that the comment was actually much more than a joke to her, as the song she mentioned helped her through some very trying times:
“I was at a fundraiser in Minneapolis and he was the entertainment. I’m sitting there thinking, I gotta go say hi,” she told Kimmel.
“I go backstage after and I go up to Steven and said, ‘I have had some really tough times in my life and I said for 6 years, every once in a while I would sneak out, get dressed and go sneak out in the dark and drive around,” she continued.
“I said I’d always used to take your song, ‘Dude Looks Like a Lady’ and that became my theme song, driving around in my little car with my little CD in there, whipping up the tunes and stuff and I said I just want you to know that made me feel good.”
Asked about Tyler’s reaction to her revelation, Caitlyn replied:
“He loved it! He hugged me and said we have to get together.”
Perhaps Caitlyn’s explanation will soften the criticism against her.
At the very least, it serves to highlight the fact that while we tend to divide the population into groups based on shared traits, each of us is the product of wholly unique experiences.

Caitlyn Jenner to Kris: You Knew I Was Trans From DAY ONE!
We’re still nearly two weeks away from the release of Caitlyn Jenner’s memoir, but at the rate things are going, there won’t be many bombshells left for the big day.
Earlier this week, we learned that Caitlyn has undergone gender reassignment surgery, a move she previously stated she didn’t plan to make.
Yesterday, we found out that she believes Robert Kardashian knew O.J. Simpson was guilty of double murder, but fought to make sure his friend beat the charges anyway.
You might think it would be hard to top those revelations, and well … you would be right.
But that’s not gonna stop Cait and her publishers from gunning for that number one bestseller title by spilling more tea all over the Internet.
Today’s bridge-burner might not compare to alleging a dead man helped engineer the trial of the century in order to get back at Cait for marrying his ex but it’s still pretty good.
And as a bonus, it’s just as likely to piss off the Kardashians.
First some background:
Over the past year, the main source of conflict between Caitlyn and Kris Jenner has been Kris’ insistence that Caitlyn lied about her transition when she first came out, by telling the press that Kris had been informed of her decision, when in reality the Kard clan momager found out the same way as the rest of the world.
Now, Caitlyn is flipping the script and insisting that it’s Kris who’s been misleading the public:
“I told her there had been a woman inside me all my life,” she writes, adding that she was downright baffled when Kris claimed to have been kept in the dark:
“On Keeping Up With the Kardashians she shed copious tears in coming to grips with it. Given what she saw, the whole reaction seemed a little puzzling then and seems puzzling now.”
Caitlyn says she doesn’t need to recall a specific conversation in order to prove that Kris knew the score from day one.
In fact, she insists there’s no way Kris didn’t know, as Caitlyn’s transition into Bruce began well before she even met Kris:
“I told her I had been in hormone therapy for roughly the past four and a half years before stopping six months earlier,” Caitlyn says, noting that she had begun to develop “womanly curves” by the time she started dating Kris.
“It was obvious that the effect of the hormones had cause something — two somethings to be exact. To me they were the development of breasts, size 36B.”
Caitlyn says that after years of disagreements, Kris conceded, but only if Caitlyn agreed to play the role of Bruce around their friends:
“Eventually Kris and I do reach an understanding — take Caitlyn on the road — but she is not to play in our home or hometown,” she writes. “End of discussion.”
Given that there’s already major tension between Caitlyn and the Kardashian sisters (especially Khloe) we’re guessing this memoir won’t do much to mend fences.
People tend to get touchy when it comes to accusing their moms of being transphobic liars and telling the world that their dead dads protected a murderer.
Go figure.
