Danielle Lombard Talks Dean Unglert, Bachelor in Paradise

You either get sent home the hero or stay on camera long enough to become the Bachelor villain, we guess.

Or, if you’re Dean Unglert, you apparently do both.

Now Danielle Lombard is sharing exactly what she thinks of their time together, of Dean himself, and of being on Bachelor in Paradise.

No, she doesn’t comment on Justin Bieber creeping on her photos.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Danielle Lombard reveals exactly how she feels about Dean Unglert after he made an ass of himself, just as promised.

“Dean is the kind of person who changes his mind every couple of days, maybe even every couple of hours.”

After the way that he darted back and forth between her and Kristina Schulman, we can see why she would feel that way.

“He doesn’t really know what he wants.”

Clearly.

And, of course, Dean proclaimed his love for Kristina.

“When I heard that I was just like, ‘You know what? You still have a lot of stuff to figure out.’”

Danielle’s a wise girl.

“We had talked about doing things in the future together and had made plans to hang out, so it was surprising he had changed his mind.”

She had a lot more to say to Us, though. About Dean anda bout her overall experience.

“The way the producers made it seem like there was greater opportunity to meet someone that you could have a relationship with outside of the show. I was honestly hesitant to do Paradise because of the stigma it has of it being like spring break and everyone is hooking up.”

Yeah, that’s kind of the show.

“But everyone I talked to that did the show, whether they had a great edit or not, said it was an incredible experience.”

She went on and initially was considering someone else entirely.

“It wasn’t like Dean was my only option and I was only pursuing him. Ben Z and I actually had a very nice time together. I knew him before the show because he’s one of Jasmine’s good friends. In Paradise, I was trying to see if we had a connection. I think he’s a great person, but I just didn’t feel the chemistry with him. It’s funny because they just don’t show that!”

Well, editing is what they use to tell stories.

Plus, there’s only so much time in a season.

Danielle really set out to avoid love triangle shenanigans. Alas.

“When I sat down and talked to the girls, I wanted them to tell me who they liked. I wanted them to speak up the way Jasmine did to Christen [Whitney] like, ‘No, I really like this guy. Don’t go after him or I’ll kill you.’ Whether we’re friends or not, if someone says that to me I would go find someone else.”

Well, yeah, especially if they’re including a death threat.

“When I talked to Dean, he told me he and Kristina did hang out during the break but that he wanted to pump the brakes. He wanted to date other people and had encouraged her to do the same thing. And when I talked to Kristina, she said that they weren’t in a relationship either. I figured I would spend time with him and if there wasn’t a connection, at least I would know and I could try and pursue another relationship.”

Danielle talks about how she and Dean bonded.

“We’re both very light-hearted people. I think that was one of the main differences between my relationship with him versus Kristina’s. He was just someone that I felt super comfortable with. We laugh all the time and we’re very smiley people.”

They casual ease to their relationship came across as “shallow” for some viewers.

“I just felt like we had this light-hearted connection where we just wanted to have fun. We didn’t want to put pressure on ourselves with the thought of getting engaged at the end of this. We just wanted to get to know each other in a more relaxed setting.”

But that wasn’t to be.

“I knew the situation between me, Kristina, and him caused a lot of stress. I think in the back of my mind I knew it was a possibility that he would want to leave separately. It was still hard for me to hear, though. I was like, ‘If he’s having doubts, I don’t want to get involved with someone like that. I rather he tell me now so we can move on separately.’ But that’s not what happened afterwards.”

Yeah, “doubts” isn’t quite the word for that level of indecisiveness.

Afterwards, when Dean called her up, she really let him have it.

“I gave it to him straight. I said, ‘You don’t know what you want. You made a complete fool of me on national television. You literally told me you loved someone else and now you’re calling me saying you want to hang out. I just don’t understand your thought process."”

Dean wasn’t prepared to take all of the blame.

“He told me that he was encouraged to say those things. I just think it was his way of saving face at the end of Paradise. He came over to my hotel room and we talked some more. As soon as we got back to L.A., we hung out with each other and started this off camera relationship that I thought was going in the right direction. “

“I’m definitely frustrated with [Dean]. I think he’s been very dismissive of our relationship and continues to allude that he only pursued me because of my looks.”

Danielle has shot down that idea a lot on Instagram.

“I’ve never been in a position or a relationship where I’ve felt so disrespected by someone. It’s frustrating because he told me he would have my back and stand up for me but at the end of the day, he just saves himself instead of being honest about things.”

Dean may have blown his relationship and ruined his chance at being the Bachelor unless he has a really powerful redemption arc.

“It’s a lesson learned moving forward. I don’t hate him but I am disappointed.”

You know what? A lot of us feel that way about Dean right now.

Dean Unglert: SHADED by Rachel Lindsay Over Bachelor in Paradise Breakup!

Dean Unglert went from everyone’s blue eyed dream to making a lot of people upset on Bachelor in Paradise. Why? Well … love triangle shenanigans, basically.

Those shenanigans came to an end on Monday night’s episode with a breakup that didn’t really make anybody happy.

Among the people who responded were Rachel Lindsay, Dean’s own ex, who tweeted some serious shade in his direction.

Remember when Dean Unglert said that he made an ass of himself in Paradise?

Well … he’s as good as his word.

Until this week’s episode, Dean had been juggling both Danielle Lombard and Kristina Schulman

And yeah, we get it — Bachelor in Paradise is all about figuring out who, if anyone, is right for you.

Dating the first person you see might not be the best plan.

There’s also an argument to be made that people aren’t necessarily well-suited for monogamy, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

Because, though Kristina came across as sympathetic and she and Dean seemed to have a real connection (while Dean also hooked up with Danielle and Danielle didn’t restrict herself exclusively to Dean, either), Dean ended up choosing Danielle.

A lot of fans were crushed.

Some of them were rooting for Dean and Kristina.

A lot of them were rooting for Kristina to find happiness.

Others were just rooting for Dean to stay the endearing, precious boy they’d seen on The Bachelorette.

So there was a lot of disappointment. All around.

As we mentioned, Rachel Lindsay — who competed alongside Kristina Schulman for Nick Viall’s hand on The Bachelor before becoming the Bachelorette and finding love … or whatever … with Bryan Abasolo, threw some shade at Dean over the whole affair.

She tweeted this:

“Never settle @kristinaschulma ….love you girl.”

She followed that up with a kissing emoji.

You may notice that she doesn’t mention Dean by name.

But her “never settle” message is a reminder that they now have two exes in common, and a diss against Dean.

Rachel is implying that Dean isn’t worthy of Kristina, and that Kristina — like Rachel — could do better.

Maybe so.

It may have also occurred to you that Rachel Lindsay has a whole lot of nerve tweeting anything at anybody about breaking up with the wrong person.

She’s kind of an expert on the subject, but that’s not the same as being an authority on which breakups are smart or not.

Sorry if we’re not going to take romantic advice from the woman who chose a guy who says whatever she wants to hear and left Peter Kraus a sobbing mess.

For his part, Dean Unglert posted this to Instagram:

His heartbreaking caption?

“You were out of my league.”

A friend of mine DMed this post to me as soon as she saw it to make sure that I had seen it, because there are a lot of feels to be had.

Honestly, we think that Kristina and Dean just got swept up in it all.

Dean, in particular, was basically on the rebound after making it almost to the very end of The Bachelorette.

Like, Rachel Lindsay met his dad. He wasn’t just on for a few episodes to get his name out there.

As we mentioned, monogamy isn’t right for everyone.

For some people, it’s the only way for them to have a relationship.

For others, it’s unnatural and monogamy culture — and especially the idea that there’s exactly one person out there who’s right for you — is horrifying.

There are a lot of successful polyamorous relationships, and with social acceptance, that is growing.

We’d love to see a Bachelor series with an emphasis on polyamory, but we’re sure that it will take years before enough viewers are open-minded enough to tune in.

On such a show, maybe this love triangle wouldn’t have been so devastating. Maybe it would have just been, you know, a normal triad.

If that would work for all three of them, anyway.

Not everybody’s cut out to be polyamorous.

We think that, within the Bachelor Nation, Dean can get past this.

Dean is, after all, a young guy who’s openly admitted that he has more maturing to do.

And that was before he went on Bachelor in Paradise.

Dean is not going to be the next Bachelor, but we’d love to see him on the next season of Bachelor in Paradise.

And maybe, in a couple of years, after he’s had his “redemption arc” on camera, he could make an amazing — and still quite young — leading man.

And, for what it’s worth, we wish Kristina Schulman the best.

Dean Unglert: I Make an Ass of Myself on Bachelor in Paradise!

It takes a special kind of quality for a person to be adored as a blue-eyed innocent who must be protected and someone who’s admired for throwing shade.

If you want to get you a man who can do both, however, look no further than Dean Unglert.

He may have lost his season of The Bachelorette, but Dean Unglert is on this season of Bachelor in Paradise. And he’s even shared a photo:

There he is!

If the photo looks a little odd to you, Dean totally addresses that … sort of … in his caption:

“Even though it looks like I was photoshopped into this picture, I promise I was in Paradise this summer. And I promise I make a complete ass out of myself. Yay! #almostparadise”

Well, as you might recall, it was actually spoiled a while ago that Dean Unglert was spotted in Paradise, thanks to a certain sex scandal that got the show’s production shut down.

But it’s still super exciting, because he’s a real favorite from this season of The Bachelorette.

He wasn’t everyone’s pick to win, by any means, but he has some very endearing qualities that made him a popular guy.

(So popular, in fact, that Men Tell All made it pretty clear that Dean Unglert’s a favorite to star on The Bachelor)

But there are a couple of things in Dean’s captions that we need to discuss.

First, he says that he promises that he makes a real ass out of himself.

That’s not impossible to picture.

Part of what makes Dean so very lovable for countless fans is that, well, he goofs up sometimes.

(He’s young and that kind of goes with the territory, right?)

His dad’s an eccentric guy and just the right amount of that has clearly rubbed off on Dean, even though he and his dad still have some issues to work through.

Dean might have joined bestie Peter Kraus in shading Bryan Abasolo, but Dean is not a hateful person by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s hard to picture him making an ass of himself, though he might embarrass himself once or twice, sure.

Remember, this dude is so lovable that he formed a lasting friendship with one of his biggest competitors and a fellow member of The Bachelorette‘s final four.

But what’s maybe the most interesting is that little hashtag at the end of Dean’s caption.

Maybe he just means that it’s almost time for Bachelor in Paradise.

But maybe he means that not everything was perfect.

Which would indicate that he probably doesn’t meet the love of his life on this season of Bachelor in Paradise.

Which would mean that he will be very free to be the next Bachelor.

The Bachelorette, of course, ends tonight.

If you’ve been following The Bachelorette Spoilers, then you know the results already.

It will be interesting to see how events play out and how these things go down.

We know that this final breakup is going to be hell.

With that in mind, we’re actually pretty glad that Dean didn’t make it this far.

And we’re excited to see where he goes!

Dean Unglert: Bachelorette Frontrunner a Favorite to Be The Next Bachelor!

With boy band good looks, dazzling blue eyes, and the body of an Olympic swimmer, Dean Unglert was an obvious favorite on The Bachelorette.

It’s no surprise that he made it to the final four of Rachel Lindsay’s season before his hometown heartbreak so close to the end.

It’s also no surprise that Unglert didn’t stop being a fan favorite when Rachel sent him packing earlier this month.

People genuinely like him because he’s charming and lovable.

So much so, in fact, that The Bachelorette‘s Men Tell All special reportedly made it clear that Dean is a top choice to be the next Bachelor.

No, this isn’t another case of Dean Unglert adorably revealing the winner of Rachel’s season in an interview.

Obviously, there’s more of The Bachelorette to come before we officially know who won Rachel Lindsay’s heart and hand and became her fiance.

(But, if you’re following The Bachelorette spoilers, you already know.)

Yesterday, we talked about how Dean was talking about how Peter Kraus would make a fantastic Bachelor for The Bachelor‘s 22nd season.

And Dean is right — Peter Kraus is ludicrously good-looking, and honestly we think that Rachel Lindsay should choose him.

Dean might be a little biased, though — he and Peter were practically joined at the hip all season long.

They’re besties.

Life & Style reports that a source from the Men Tell All taping reported on what’s been going on.

And it was clear from audience reactions and the way that people were treated that Dean Unglert is the favorite to be the Bachelor.

“Dean ended up receiving the most applause from the audience.”

Well, of course he did.

We want to clap just when we see pictures of him.

“It was obvious he was the crowd’s favorite. Many of the girls were fawning over him. He would make a great Bachelor.”

Okay, so, clearly that source has an opinion.

(Don’t we all?)

So, to a degree, we’re going to have to wait for Men Tell All to air.

But we wouldn’t be surprised if they described things exactly how they happened.

Additionally, Dean was apparently “the only one” allowed to sit next to Rachel Lindsay.

“Their chemistry seemed pretty natural. It wasn’t awkward to look at them together.”

Well, we knew that from The Bachelorette, but we’re glad that it’s still the case.

“They were kind of just talking how exes talk: ‘I’ve got some questions and I’m wondering what the reasons were behind your actions,’ and that was it.”

That’s super healthy, right?

We will admit that the traits that make Dean so desirable don’t necessarily make him an ideal candidate for The Bachelor.

Sure, he’s very handsome — he’s 26 years old, 6-foot-2, and has a perfect body with just enough quirky tattoos to make him not look like just another model.

(And he is, in fact, a startup recruiter, with is cutting edge and lucrative-sounding while also vague)

But some have suggested that he’s too young to star on The Bachelor.

They’re wrong, but they argue that The Bachelor needs to be someone who’s at least a few years older.

We don’t think so. Sometimes shows need a young, fresh face.

And Dean is just so popular and well-liked, you know?

But we should be clear that just because Rachel Lindsay and audience members like Dean doesn’t mean that showrunners are going to pick him.

(Though we can bet that they’re paying attention.)

We won’t know who gets to star on The Bachelor for a while, but Dean would be an inspired choice.

In the mean time, though, you won’t have to rely on social media to follow Dean.

We can all watch Dean Unglert and his radiant charm on Bachelor in Paradise, which premieres on August 14th.

For that matter, (spoiler alert:) we can watch Peter Kraus on Bachelor in Paradise, too.

That hasn’t been announced, but Peter was spotted down there during Bachelor in Paradise‘s big dramatic shut-down this summer.

Dean and Peter will be great on that show, especially with their established dynamic.

And either one of them would make a fantastic star for The Bachelor.

The Bachelorette Ending: Accidentally Spoiled by Dean Unglert?

This might be old news to those of you who follow The Bachelorette Spoilers, but to most fans of the series, any hint of a spoiler is a huge deal.

Remember our heartbreak when Rachel Lindsay bid farewell to Dean Unglert, who totally should have made it to the show’s very end?

In a recent interview, it sounds like Dean Unglert, precious cinnamon roll that he is, may have accidentally spilled the beans about Rachel’s ultimate decision.

(Surely, though, he could do nothing wrong)

In an interview that reminds us all that Dean Unglert is probably not going to be the next Bachelor (because the world is a cruel, cruel place and life is torment and we will all succumb to entropy), Dean Unglert let something slip.

Because he talks about who he thinks should be the next guy to star on The Bachelor.

“Hands down, Peter Bachelor 2018.”

Whoa, there.

You can’t star on The Bachelor after winning The Bachelorette.

(Not unless there’s a whole messy sequence of events between those two)

Because, if Peter Kraus wins The Bachelorette, that would mean that he is Rachel Lindsay’s fiance and therefore has no business looking for another, different fiancee unless they’re doing a polyamorous approach to the Bachelor Nation.

This would seem to imply that Dean knows that Peter Kraus doesn’t win.

Bless him, he tries to cover for it.

“If that’s possible!”

Awwww!

He surely knows that it isn’t.

“I don’t know if he’s engaged or not. But I would gladly concede to Peter as next Bachelor.”

Now, we’re firm believers that Dean Unglert has done nothing wrong, ever, in his life.

So we’re not going to be mad at him for “spoiling” this.

Peter Kraus and Dean referred to each other as their best friend.

They had an epic bromance on that show and we hope that it’s made them friends for life.

(Friends that shade Bryan Abasolo together are friends for life)

It’s a little hard to see Dean not knowing if Peter is engaged.

Peter should win The Bachelorette, as we’ve said before.

(Just as Dean should have made it to the very end)

But we already know that Peter wouldn’t make it, thanks to this summer’s Bachelor in Paradise shenanigans.

Because if Peter Kraus had gotten engaged to Rachel Lindsay, they wouldn’t have sent him to Bachelor in Paradise.

But you know what?

Dean doesn’t need to have any special knowledge, or even to have kept up with where his very good friend was or was not spotted, to have made this slip.

Maybe he just never wanted to imagine that he and his good friend would get torn apart by a woman.

(Even a woman as gorgeous as Rachel Lindsay)

And, by the way, it looks like Dean and Peter are both on Bachelor in Paradise together.

(Only Dean has been announced, but thanks to that spoiler, it looks like they’ll both be on there)

We’re so glad that they’re going to get to hang out on camera some more, you know?

Hopefully, this time, they won’t both be pursuing the same girl.

Like we said, Rachel Lindsay should have picked Peter Kraus.

(Even though, sadly, we already know who wins)

But, you know, her loss will be someone else’s gain.

And if Peter doesn’t get snatched up on Bachelor in Paradise.

(Or in real life)

Maybe he will be the next Bachelor on The Bachelor.

And have Dean cheering him on the whole time.

Dean Unglert Before The Bachelorette"s Hometown Dates: PLEASE Be Nice About My Dad!

It’s that time again for The Bachelorette‘s hometown dates — always illuminating and often fateful for contestants.

Dean Unglert is a favorite this year, and of course he’s one of the suitors who’s getting a hometown date with Rachel Lindsay.

Dean’s family’s come up before, so he’s taken to the interwebs to issue a plea for religious tolerance — because his dad, as you may remember, is a Sikh.

If you’re scratching your head for a moment and wondering who takes issue with Sikhs, the issue is a little more complicated than that.

Sikhism is, like every faith, complicated, but essentially it’s a panentheistic religion believing in a single God who permeates and transcends every aspect of the universe.

Many people minority faiths see discrimination and mockery, particularly when they are poorly understood by the culture in which they live.

Unfortunately, two realities of Sikhs have led them to face real violence from bigots.

Sikhs wear turbans over their uncut hair as a matter of religious expression.

While Sikhism accepts converts (like, say, Dean’s father), they do not actively seek to convert anyone, and because of that there is a powerful ethnic association for Sikhs.

The result is that you have brown-skinned people wearing turbans and, well, bigots aren’t generally known for their cultured educations.

In the eyes of the ignorant, Sikhs look like Muslims.

(And we’re talking about bigots here, so they see Muslims as targets for violence)

Horrible hate crimes have been committed against Sikhs, which would be vile enough on its own.

But in many cases it seems to be a case of mistaken identity fueled by Islamophobia.

Dean Unglert has described his father as “eccentric” in the past, and received criticism for that by Sikh fans of the show.

Conscious of bias and prejudice within the culture, Dean took to Instagram to ask people to not be dicks about his dad, basically.

“Hometowns are 2 days away! ..and I’m asking for a favor: when I said my father was eccentric, I was not referring to his Sikh faith or the turban he wears on his head.”

He’d already clarified that, but it’s good to repeat it again.

Someone being of a minority faith shouldn’t be seen as a goofy quirk, you know?

“I’m not asking you to spare his feelings (or mine) but instead to be cognizant and accepting of the millions of people that belong to the Sikh community.”

That’s so important.

Representation on television is important, and the folks at home can learn a lot that way.

But none of that works if people ridicule or fear someone else because they’re different, you know?

“Although he and I are not close, I respect my father’s decision to follow his heart and pursue the life he has chosen.”

That’s all that you can ask for, you know?

“Let us not criticize him for his appearance or his beliefs because by doing so we are disparaging an entire faith and culture that includes millions of people.”

That’s such an important statement.

“And I know we are all better than that. That is all (for now) #endrant HAPPY SATURDAY PEOPLE”

Dean is just so charming, you know?

As you might recall, he’s a start-up recruiter who has his mother’s initials tattooed to his chest.

So … his job is very Millennial and his personality is more than a little quirky.

Honestly, Dean is likable even when he’s shading another contestant.

Add to that his boyish good looks that are vaguely (vaguely!) reminiscent of The Flash‘s Grant Gustin, and you’ve got a strong contender.

Then you throw in this very sensitive plea for people to respect his dad’s faith, which is shared by millions.

He’s kind of a dream, right?

Of course, sadly, we already know that Rachel isn’t going to choose Dean.

Dean Unglert was spotted on set for Bachelor in Paradise, which is amazing for that show but not great news for his role on The Bachelorette.

(It also means that he won’t be The Bachelor)

Accidental spoilers, much?

You’d think that if this charming guy isn’t Rachel’s pick, she’d be going with the handsome Peter Kraus.

But actually we’re pretty sure that we know who Rachel will choose on The Bachelorette.

Peter Kraus & Dean Unglert: Throwing Shade at Bryan Abasolo!

While The Bachelorette spoilers predicted all three men in the scene below would make it this far, we never saw this coming:

Peter Kraus and Dean Unglert seem to be forming a mini-alliance of sorts against their fellow contender, Dr. Bryan Abasolo.

The aforementioned trio, along with Eric Bigger, are seen as the four frontrunners remaining in the quest for Rachel Lindsay"s heart.

You don"t need Bachelorette spoilers to tell you that when the field is narrowed down to a select few, tensions are at an all-time high.

As such, Peter and Dean can be seen playing a game of chess together – and throwing shade at Bryan – in the deleted scene below.

While this was being filmed, Abasolo was on a date with Rachel in Oslo, Norway, a topic that Unglert and Kraus couldn"t help but discuss.

“I think when he gets back, he’ll have a swagger to his step,” Peter said of the duo"s rival, who they clearly view as such.

“More so of a swagger,” Dean agreed.

“Because you can tell sometimes by the way he talks, he like kind of squints his eye and leans back a little bit … he’s like so confident.”

That"s not too bad of a diss right there, but then Peter also went on to say that Bryan comes across a little too smooth for his liking.

“I think she needs a leader,” Peter said, adding, “I think she needs a guy who has genuine confidence that’s not cockiness or arrogance.”

Ouch. They referenced his remark on a group date where he boasted of being the first to kiss Rachel on the first night in the mansion.

It wasn"t just any reference, either.

Will, who said at the time that he would be the second person to kiss Rach, was told by Bryan that he could enjoy his “sloppy seconds.”

To Peter, that was a bit off-putting.

“I wouldn’t want someone like that for her,” he told Dean, setting the stage for what should be a very interesting couple of weeks ahead.

One more episode remains before hometown dates, which are followed by overnight dates and the epic Bachelorette season finale.

Watch the shade-throwing below.
