Lamar Odom celebrates the most unhappy of birthdays today.
The former basketball and reality star is officially 36 years old, but he’s stuck at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the occasion.
No matter, however.
According to a People Magazine insider, Khloe Kardashian plans to make the anniversary of her husband’s birth as special as possible, given the circumstances.
The source confirms that a small gathering of loved ones is on tap today inside Lamar’s room, with members of The Los Angeles Clippers possibly going to stop by after practice.
Odom’s long-time trainer will also make an appearance.
The Los Angeles Lakers, unfortunately, are on a road trip, meaning close friends Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest will not be able to make the party, which is scheduled for a private room in the hospital.
Kobe will send a gift, though, while also trying to connect with his former teammate via FaceTime.
“It’s something very small and very short but will make him feel amazing,” the source says of the shindig “Then Khloé will be with him for the rest of the day.”
There has been talk that Khloe and Lamar recently engaged in a major hospital blowout.
But this report doesn’t seem to back up that assertion.
With Odom on a slow path to recovery, there’s reason for family members to have hope. Although he still has a long way to go.
“Happy Birthday Lamar! We want to THANK everyone from around the world for your continued prayers and well wishes for Lamar and our family,” wrote JaNean Mercer, Lamar’s aunt, in a statement.
“Every birthday with Lamar is special but today is an especially momentous occasion and we honor GOD for this day and thank HIM for allowing us to spend this time together.
“Please continue to keep Lamar and our family in prayer as he continues on this miraculous journey.”
