Scott Wilson Dies; The Walking Dead Star Was 76

Scott Wilson, a veteran actor of the small screen and big screen, has passed away from complications related to Leukemia.

He was 76 years old.

Wilson had an extensive resume to his name at the time of his death, one that included well over 50 movie credits.

But he’s likely best known at this point for his long-running role on The Walking Dead of Hershel Greene.

In both the comic books on which the AMC drama is based, along with television series itself, Hershel was introduced by saving the life of Carl Grimes, the son of Rick Grimes, after the boy is shot by one of Hershel’s neighbors.

During his stint on the program, Greene served as the moral center of his group of survivors.

Wilson appeared on 37 episodes of The Walking Dead, debuting in 2011 and leaving in 2014.

Scott’s rep, Dominic Mancini, spoke to TMZ and confirmed the cause of death fo the celebrity gossip website

He added that Wilson was “a national treasure, a calm voice, and a gentle spirit to everyone who came in contact with him.”

He reportedly passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles.

At The Walking Dead’s panel at New York Comic-Con just this week, showrunner Angela Kang said that Scott (along with former stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Jon Bernthal) would be returning for the upcoming ninth season.

It premieres this Sunday, October 7.

(This announcement took fans by surprise, considering Hershel was decapitated in the season four episode Too Far Gone, only to have his head turned into a zombie and then killed again in the later episode After.)

While most modern TV fans know Wilson well from this role, he arrived to The Walking Dead after many decades in the entertainment industry.

Wilson’s career got underway in 1967 when he landed a role in the classic film, “In the Heat of the Night.”

He went on to appear in a multitude of other iconic movies, such as “In Cold Blood,” “The Great Gatsby” and “Dead Man Walking.”

Scott earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing Captain Billy Cupshaw in the 1980 film, “The Ninth Configuration.”

His other recent television roles include Hostiles, The OA, Damien and Bosch.

Tweeted Titus Welliver, the lead actor in the final show listed above, upon learning of Wilson’s passing:

Wilson’s survivors include his wife, Heavenly, an artist and attorney.

No memorial plans have been announced.

Cristy Caserta, Former Bachelor Suitor, Dead at 38

Cristy Caserta, a woman who vied for the heart of Brad Womack on The Bachelor Season 15, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday after suffering an apparent seizure.

She was 38 years old.

According to law enforcement officials, per TMZ, Caserta was attending a class at a school in Sunrise, Florida when she suddenly fell forward at the desk where she was sitting.

Her alarmed classmates quickly dialed 911.

Tragically, however, Caserta went into cardiac arrest as the paramedics arrived and administered CPR.

She was transported to nearby Westside Regional Medical Center … where they continued efforts to save her, but it was too late. She was pronounced dead not long after her arrival.

The police have said they don’t suspect foul play and that no drugs were found in Caserta’s system.

An autopsy will be performed Friday to determine the official cause of death.

This is what the Sunrise Police Department in Florida said about Caserta, who worked as an attorney:

“The students around her noticed her coffee fell to the ground and thought maybe she fell asleep, but she was unresponsive when they approached her.

“They called 911, and Fire Rescue showed up and started CPR and she was still unresponsive.”

As mentioned above, Caserta was featured on Womack’s second season as The Bachelor.

She was sent home during the first week.

Stephen Carbone, the blogger behind the Bachelor fan/spoiler site Reality Steve, paid tribute to Caserta on Thursday night, writing:

“Sick to my stomach to see that Cristy Caserta from Brad Womack’s 2nd season has suddenly passed away.

“Cristy was always there to give me legal advice in the past. I’m at a loss after seeing people post on her FB. Just spoke a couple weeks ago. RIP my friend.”

In January, Caserta started a job working as a corporate lawyer for a healthcare staffing agency in Sunrise.

She had worked as a lawyer at a different company during her time on The Bachelor and was granted leave to appear on the series.

Womack, who previously anchored The Bachelor Season 11 in 2007, is pictured above.

He ended up proposing to Emily Maynard, but they broke up a few months after the finale.

Neither Brad nor anyone associated with the show has commented yet on Caserta’s death.

How to Get Away with Murder Recap: Who"s Dead Now?!

Does How to Get Away with Murder know what viewers want? 

It certainly seemed that way on How to Get Away with Murder Season 5 Episode 1 which gave birth to a whole new mystery that is poised to find another key player getting, well, murdered. 

The murder in question takes place at Connor and Oliver’s wedding, and based on the slap Annalise hurls at Frank upon hearing about the unlucky player bleeding out on the snow, she’s pissed about it. 

Before we got much in the way of answers, this series went back to the beginning of the school year. 

A brand new year at Middleton University got underway, but there was a striking difference from the previous year:

Annalise Keating was back, and in good graces with the faculty. 

Did you really think her Class Action lawsuit against the justice system was going to result in her retiring? 

Um, no. Annalise returned… with new wigs, and the same old attitude. 

Celebrating her return to the school, she admitted off the bat that there would be a brand new clinic and that the surviving original members were not guaranteed a spot. 

That meant, Asher, Connor, Michaela, and Laurel aka the core four who have been associated a little too heavily with all the previous murders would have to impress her if they wanted to remain part of her team. 

Frank wanted to be part of the class, but he was relegated to the waitlist. Is he really wanting to be part of this class to find out more about the elusive Gabriel Maddox?

It sure seemed that way, but anything is possible with this show. Speaking of Frank, he was getting a little too comfortable with Laurel staying at his. 

It led to them having lots of sex. Frank was all too happy to throw his clothes off at any given moment, but there was heartbreak in store for him. 

Laurel decided it was best to move out before things got too serious. That’s when Frank got down on one knee and actually proposed to her. 

Did Laurel accept this offer to be with a man who murders when the going gets tough? 

Nope. She dumped him and moved in with Connor, Michaela and Oliver, so there’s that. 

The only silver lining in all of this was that he got to be Cristopher’s godfather. It seems Laurel is not quite ready for a relationship, you guys. 

In the meantime, Frank wanted to know what Gabriel Maddox was up to and whether he was this kid who was supposed to be dead. 

Thankfully, Frank was on hand to pull some strings. Even when this dude is away from Annalise, he still manages to find himself in crazy situations. 

He learned that Gabriel was the kid, but we never learned whether he was the child of Annalise or the child of Bonnie. 

This show certainly knows how to keep viewers wanting more. 

Annalise made her decision about the clinic and left Asher out in the cold. 

The reason?

She’s tired of hearing about him pining after Michaela. In her eyes, he needs to grow up and stop acting so god damn childish. 

Simply put, Annalise had a lot on her mind. She needed to find the right law firm to support her clinic. 

That meant fielding a lot of offers that would rake in a lot of $ . Just when it seemed like she was ready to get what she wanted, she was dropped like a hot potato from every firm. 

Taking on the justice system came back to bite her in a huge way. 

That’s when she returned to Caplan & Gold with a brand new offer. When they declined, she stormed out of the building.

But she later got a call saying she should return to sign on the dotted line. Annalise has still got it, it seems.

The final scene featured the biggest bombshell of the night:

The person bleeding out on the snow was right next to baby Christopher.

Could it be Laurel?!

Would the show really kill off Laurel?

We’ll need to tune in this fall to find out!

Paul John Vasquez, Former Sons of Anarchy Actor, Dead at 48

Paul John Vasquez, a veteran actor likely best known to television fans for his role on Sons of Anarchy, died of a heart attack on Monday night, according to multiple news outlets.

He was 48 years old.

“This news has come as a surprise to us,” a representative for Vasquez People Magazine, adding somberly:

“Our hearts are heavy. He was a kind, creative and loving man. He will be missed.”

According to TMZ, Vasquez was at his father’s home in San Jose when he suffered the apparent heart attack.

He did found him unconscious and called the paramedics, but they were never able to revive him.

The cause of death has not yet been made official and remains, as of this writing, under investigation.

You very likely recognize Vasquez, even if you weren’t able to immediately place him upon seeing his face.

The actor enjoyed a number of small roles on a number of very populr TV shows, such as Sons of Anarchy, How I Met Your Mother, NYPD Blue and CSI: NY.

He appeared on the FX drama in 2011 for two episodes as the character of Angel Ganz and is actually the second Sons of Anarchy player to have been found dead in recent months.

Back in June, Alan O’Neil – who appeared at various times on the final two seasons of this series – was discovered dead by his girlfriend, although no foul play was suspected

The L.A. County Coroner’s Office spokeswoman previously said that O’Neill, who portrayed Hugh on the critically acclaimed program, died of sequelae of chronic ethanol (alcohol) overconsumption.

Vasquez, meanwhile, was born and raised in San Jose, California.

After graduating college in 1988, he moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue acting as a full-time living.

Prior to his sudden passing, he set to star in the short Thug Alley, as well as Spody Gets His Gunz, two projects which he actually wrote.

The actor was also scheduled to appear in the action thriller Lone Wolf.

Vasquez made his small screen debut the same year in the show Private Eye, contining from then on to establish himself as a character actor over the next few decades.

We send our condolences to his family members, friends and loved ones.

The Walking Dead Season 9: What"s About to Go Down?

The Walking Dead Season 9 premieres on AMC on Sunday, October 7 at 9/8c.

It will feature the final run of episodes by Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, as the actor shocked fans by announcing his departure from the beloved series this summer.

"I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show," Lincoln said at Comic-Con in July, adding at the time:

"I promise not to cry, I"ve done enough crying on screen. I"m particularly fond of the people who watch this show…

"This has been the most extraordinary, amazing, and beautiful experience of my career, and largely, because of you guys and the relationship we have here with you in this room and also rooms across America and the rest of the world."

Will Rick be killed off? It"s very safe to assume.

But we get no indication in the official AMC synopsis of just how Rick will say goodbye.

1. The Synopsis Begins as Follows…

Vanessa Marquez, Former ER Star, Shot Dead by Police

Vanessa Marquez, an actress best known for having played nurse Wendy Goldman on 27 episodes of ER, was shot and killed by police on Thursday after a confrontation turned violent.

She was 49 years old.

According to various outlets, police were called to perform a welfare check on Marquez yesterday, responding to a call just before noon about a woman who was suffering from seizures.

Per The South Pasadenan, a newspaper of record in the area, the phone call was placed by Marquez’s landlord.

Police later said at an evening press conference that they had been called to the woman’s residence in the past for help.

In this fatal case, however, Marquez pulled BB-type gun on the officers and then responded by shooting her once in the torso.

She was treated briefly at the scene and then rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“At the time [of the shooting] there was an LA County mental health clinician here with the officers,” Lt. Joe Mendoza said, adding:

“They began to communicate with her, she became very uncooperative and during that contact she armed herself with a handgun, she pointed it at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Marquez actually made headlines last fall when she accused George Clooney of sexual harassment.

She went on to say at the time that the famous actor actually blacklisted her after she made an accusation years ago on the set of ER, saying harassment was rampant in and around the legendary NBC drama.

Clooney even responded to the assertion via a statement that read:

“I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted.

“I take her at her word. I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show. I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to.

“The fact that I couldn’t affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn’t.”

Mendoza, in the aforementioned press conference, went on to say that officers tried to help Marquez for about 90 minutes before she grabbed the weapon cited above.

He said the shooting transpired around 2 p.m. and that the woman “was undergoing some medical problems, some seizures; it appeared that the female was gravely disabled.”

Marquez also played the role of Ana Delgado in the film “Stand and Deliver.”

Following the end of her acting career, Vanessa was vocal on social media about her struggles with health issues, including terminal celiac disease, pulmonary embolism and osteoporosis.

She posted her final status update on Facebook on August 8, accusing Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey of hypocrisy for previously kicking her off Twitter for “naming his friend George Clooney at the beginning of the #Metoo movement in October.

“But allowing the incendiary InfoWars host and notorious conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to remain on the platform.”

Marquez was a long-time member of TCM Party, which is a group of cinephiles passionate about classic movies.

In response to her passing, the official TCM Party Twitter account write:

I am devastated to say that Vanessa Marquez @R2DivaLA was shot and killed by the South Pasadena police on Thursday afternoon.

I met her through #TCMParty, I hope she knew how much we loved her and I hope too that she is at peace

Ed King, Lynyrd Skynyrd Guitarist, Dead at 68

Ed King, a classic rock musician best known being a guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, died on Wednesday at his home in Nashville, members of his family have confirmed.

He was 68 years old.

King played guitar and bass for the aforementioned Southern rock band from 1972 to 1975. again from 1987 to 1996.

He also co-wrote one of Skynyrd’s most legendary hits, “Sweet Home Alabama,” with Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington, although none of them actually hailed from Alabama.

As of this writing, no cause of death has been specified of reported.

But it’s been known for awhile now that King had been battling lung cancer and had recently been hospitalized for the illness.

A message on King’s Facebook confirmed this sad piece of news as it reads as follows:

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Ed King who died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on August 22nd, 2018.

We thank his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career.

As you can see below, fans and supporters immediately responded to King’s passing with notes of mourning and sorrow:

King was not with the band in 1977 when Van Zant and two other members were killed in a plane crash.

He rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, but was allegedly forced to leave the band again in 1996 due to congestive heart failure.

A California native, King was a founding member of the psychedelic 1960s band Strawberry Alarm Clock, known for their hit “Incense and Peppermints.”

He joined Skynyrd years later, temporarily replacing bassist Leon Wilkeson and then becoming a full-fledged member as its third guitarist.

King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, along with all of the other former members of the band.

He was also featured in the recently released Lynyrd Skynyrd documentary, “If I Leave Here Tomorrow,” giving fans ample insight into the beloved group.

Said fellow guitarist Gary Rossington upon learning of King’s death:

“I’ve just found out about Ed’s passing and I’m shocked and saddened.

“Ed was our brother, and a great songwriter and guitar player. I know he will be reunited with the rest of the boys in Rock and Roll Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
