Smoke Dawg Shot Dead in Toronto; Rapper Was 21
We have another tragedy from the world of music.
Two weeks after XXXTentacion was shot dead in Miami, another young rapper has also lost life in violent fashion.
According to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Smoke Dawg was murdered in Toronto this weekend, with graphic images of the artist’s corpse having allegedly made their way on to social media.
Out of respect for the dead, we are not going to share them here.
Smoke Dawg was only 21 years old.
On Saturday morning, a verified police account on Twitter confirmed that one male victim was pronounced dead in the entertainment district of this Canadian rapper.
But it stopped short of identifying the victim as Smoke Dawg.
However, local news outlet CP24 reports that three people – two men and a woman – were shot in broad daylight in the incident, which quickly devolved into chaos outside of the Cube Nightclub.
All three victimr were rushed to the hospital and one was later pronounced dead.
To be clear, once again, authorities have NOT yet confirmed the deceased to be Smoke Dawg.
Drake, though, paid tribute to his fellow Canadian artist via the above photo and message on his Instagram Story today.
“All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating,” the 31-year-old “God’s Plan” star wrote, adding:
“I wish peace would wash over our city.
“So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke.”
Smoke Dawg opened for Drake on the latter’s Boy Meets World European tour.
Elsewhere, an artist who goes by the name Mustafa the Poet also took to Twitter to pay his respects.
“The worst day of my life, I somehow keep finding a new worst,” he wrote adding, “Smokey is gone, may our prayers follow him to heaven.”
Police have said that the shooting took place just before 8 p.m. in the popular area outside Cube nightclub and that the “suspects may have fled in black SUV or white car.”
According to local news CP24, “gunfire erupted in broad daylight on one of the busiest streets in the city Saturday evening.”
Smoke Dawg, of Trinidadian, Jamaican and Somalian heritage, was part of an up and coming group of rappers called Halal Gang.
The rapper rose to success with hit track Still three years ago, and later collaborated with American hip hop artist French Montana and the UK’s Skepta.

Paris Jackson: I Smoke Weed & You Should Too!
Paris Jackson is no stranger to controversy.
She’s been famous since the day she was born, and the spotlight has only gotten more intense as she’s inched closer to adulthood.
Obviously, with 2.6 million followers on Instagram alone, Paris is subjected to more than her fair share of scrutiny and criticism, but for the most part, it seems she’s able to take it in stride.
Much of the concern-trolling over the course of the past year has had to do with the 19-year-old’s mental health.
Back in 2013, Paris attempted suicide, and some of her most obsessive fans have been keeping an eye out for red flags ever since.
Paris Jackson has struggled with addiction in the past, and since it was a lethal combination of prescription drugs that claimed her father’s life, her followers are often on the lookout for signs of substance abuse.
So when Paris posted an Instagram story in which she can be seen smoking pot, we suppose some backlash was to be expected.
What was less expected was the epic fashion in which Paris stood tall and clapped back at her haters.
One follower commented, “And what parent thinks its okay for their kid to smoke weed? Girl, you’re better than this & you know it.”
Paris was having none of it, and she let the “fan” know exactly what she thought of her unsolicited advice:
“I know of a few parents that actually rely on this amazing organic medicine to keep their children alive since the alternative pharmaceutical drugs that doctors were shoving down their throats was basically killing the poor little ones but hey, to each his own,” Jackson wrote.
“Try googling ‘narcotics’ ‘big pharma’ and then google ‘cbd’ then get back to me, i’ll be sitting here eating granola and watching scooby doo,” she added.
Yes, Paris clearly has strong views regarding the health benefits of cannabis and the dangers of prescription drugs.
We’re guessing many therapists would caution against a teen who’s already beaten addiction dabbling in different mind-altering substances, but Paris seems to be proceeding carefully.
At her young age, she’s already experienced the ravages of addiction firsthand, and according to those who know her best, that’s just one of the struggles that have made Paris wise beyond her years
Obviously, that doesn’t mean that Paris is immune to relapsing.
But it does mean that those of us who really don’t know her at all should probably withhold judgment and trust that she knows what she’s doing.

Empire Season 3 Episode 14 Recap: Love Is a Smoke
Will Cookie and Lucious ever be able to make their relationship work?
That was one of the bigger questions on Empire Season 3 Episode 14 when it became apparent they worked better with other people.
We picked up with a flashback of Lucious writing a song for Giuliana called “Crazy Crazy 4 U.” We then got to see Lucious trying to woo a younger version of Nia Long’s Giuliana.
It’s certainly a different way to use the flashbacks, one that showed us at home that Cookie has not always been the endgame for Lucious.
“Was that before or after you divorced me?” Cookie asks, bringing Lucious out of daydream land.
Lucious asks, “Does it matter? We both know love and romance are all bull, right?”
“Well, it’s hot,” Cookie says.
Cookie then decided to open up about the fact Angelo hinted that he would be proposing to her if he won the primary.
“Maybe you and he will have a much smoother ride than we did,” said Lucious. Even though she expected Lucious to end the relationship, Cookie was happy he said it.
Lucious then told Cookie that the Vegas deal needed a stake to the heart.
“This woman Andre is dealing with is very dangerous,” he explains of Giuliana.
Meanwhile, Andre found a way to get the board involved in his plans for Nessa to get some hit songs for the Vegas deal. The commissioner approved because he was the one who brought up the whole Vegas deal.
Tory was reeled in to help out, but Andre was not impressed that she was late to the meeting. That’s when she dropped the bomb that Lucious had her working double duty on Inferno.
Andre then turned to Giuliana to find out what her deal was with Lucious.
“We met a long time ago,” she explains, “and he didn’t remember me, so clearly I didn’t make an impression.”
We then got a flashback to Giuliana and Lucious meeting in a casino. She played roulette and Lucious watched on as he tried to get her attention.
Cookie then tried to get the truth, with Lucious confirming they met years ago. He then told Cookie about how corrupt Rafael was.
Lucious came up with a plan to have Tory release the song she was making for Nessa on Empire Xstream.
Tiana and Hakeem were offered to introduce it in order to get revenge on Nessa for the way she acted.
The launch went well, but Hakeem was pissed at the lengths Tory was going to immerse herself in the family. Tory felt like Jamal was not a fan of competition and that’s why he had no friends.
Elsewhere, Anika wore her wire to meet Tariq and Cookie had nothing but praise for her.
Anika stepped up for us,” Cookie says. “Gotta give her props for that. And she gave us Bella.”
Lucious packed a bag of money for Tariq to leave town and never look back. It seems Tariq is a goner.
We then got to find out what happened between Lucious and Giuliana. Apparently, she stole $ 10 million from him.
“Do you have any idea what I had to do to get that money?” Lucious says. “Bridges I burned? Friends I hurt?”
She said she would pay him back if the Vegas deal went through, but she could not without it.
If you thought the drama was over, Angelo proposed to Cookie on live TV, with Cookie going crazy backstage at him putting her on the spot.
He then said all the illegal things he had done for her, but his microphone was still on. Mrs. Dubois then steps in, claiming she will get rid of the Lyon family.
Back at Leviticus, Lucious managed to get Giuliana on board and got rid of Andre and Nessa. Shyne decided to round up the troops to take Lucious out.

Lindsay Lohan: I"m NOT Pregnant! I"ll Smoke and Drink All I Want!
Last week, rumors that Lindsay Lohan is pregnant began to circulate online.
Unlike so many celebrity rumors, this one didn’t originate with a tabloid headline or an unsourced tweet, but with Lohan herself.
Believing that her fiance, Egor Tarabasov, was cheating on her, Lohan went on a bizarre late-night Insta-rant, but apparently felt that being the victim of infidelity wasn’t bringing her enough sympathy.
At first, the world shrugged off her tirade as the ramblings of a very pissed off (and possibly drunk) celeb.
But then Lohan’s father confirmed the pregnancy in an interview with Page Six.
Suddenly it seemed as though there might be something to her claims after all.
Yesterday, however, another development confused the hell out of everyone yet again.
Lohan was caught smoking and drinking while in vacation in … wherever the hell her endless period of unemployment has taken her these days.
Surely, even Lindsay Lohan wouldn’t be dumb enough to smoke and drink in front of a bunch of paparazzi while reportedly pregnant, right?
Well, we wouldn’t put it past her.
However, we do know that at the moment, the official word from the Lohan camp is … drum roll, please:
Lindsay is not pregnant!
The confirmation comes from Hofit Golan, who despite her name is not a creation of George R.R. Martin, but rather a “travel blogger” and friend of LiLo’s.
Hofit posted the following pro-Lindsay comment on her Instagram page today:
“#timetospeakout. There’s no truth to any of these speculations and stories . With all due respect, What you don’t see you don’t know.
“It’s about time someone stands up for a very good person, friend, daughter and fiancé @lindsaylohan (Ranjeet) “Be careful with your words…Once…they are said….They can only be Forgiven… NOT FORGOTTEN” #stopspeculating”
Fair enough, Hofit.
We’ll “#stopspeculating,” but Lindsay has to uphold her end of the bargain and stop giving us so much to speculate about.
