Amber Portwood Admits She Wasn"t Sober on Marriage Boot Camp!

If you watched Amber Portwood on Marriage Boot Camp Friday night, then you know that it really did not seem to be a good time for her.

She was weird, loud, aggressive … so how she usually is, only way worse.

She picked fights with anyone and everyone, no reason needed, and she just had this quality about her that was alarming and upsetting and just very not good.

And now we know why!

On Friday morning, presumably once she realized how much attention her behavior on the show would receive, she hopped on Twitter to send a special message to her followers.

“No matter what struggles I went through a year ago on MBC..I’m now happy, healthy and sober,” she wrote.

“The struggles & anger I went through are real & I’m happy to have ended such a horrific time in my life! Ready to live life clear headed and full of love.”

“The future is finally bright,” she added.

There’s quite a bit to unpack here, but the most notable thing is that she says she’s “now happy, healthy and sober,” implying that when she was filming the show, she wasn’t any of those things.

This is the first time she’s admitted to not sticking with her sobriety, because being sober is a very big deal for her.

She once said that in early seasons of Teen Mom, we literally never saw her when she wasn’t on some sort of substance — even when we saw her go to rehab.

Back in those days, she had a habit of taking all kinds of pills, primarily, and her drug problem was so bad that when she was in prison, she opted for a longer sentence instead of going to rehab.

She said she believed that was the only way she could truly overcome her addiction.

In the years after her release from prison, she made a big deal out of her sobriety, and for a while, it did seem like she was doing well.

Then there was a troubling Teen Mom episode when we saw her drinking with Matt Baier — at the time, she said it was OK for her to drink because she’d never been an alcoholic.

Unfortunately, that’s not quite how addiction works.

She continued to drink for a good long while with Matt, but she always got very upset whenever anyone suggested that it would be a good idea for her to stay away from all substances, not just the specific ones she preferred in the height of her addiction.

Even in the current season, she got furious when Matt suggested she wasn’t sober.

But for us viewers, it’s been clear for a while now that something hasn’t been quite right with her, and the episode of Marriage Boot Camp really drove that home.

And it looks like now we know what the issue is — or a big part of it anyway.

After making that tweet about her sobriety, someone asked her to clarify what she was talking about, and she explained that she “was drinking heavily on top of my bipolar and borderline medication.”

“Obviously something you shouldn’t do with medications like that,” she added. “However it happened and I went through hard times in order to be truly happy finally.”

It’s nice that she’s being honest about what caused her bizarre behavior on Marriage Boot Camp, but it’s also pretty terrifying.

We obviously don’t know what medications she’s taking, but mixing alcohol with medications can be extremely dangerous — she’s lucky that some embarrassing outbursts were all that happened.

Another thing though is her pregnancy. The timeline here is pretty tight, and deeply concerning.

Judging by the dates she’s given us, she likely got pregnant sometime in August — Marriage Boot Camp was filmed towards the end of June.

That means she had around a month to a month and a half to get off her meds and to get her drinking under control.

Oh, and one more issue: now that we’re seeing what Amber was like while filming this show, we know what she was like when Andrew Glennon became attracted to her.

Is there one happy thing about this whole situation? At all? Even just one tiny little thing?

Ben Affleck: Blasting Harvey Weinstein, Staying Sober (Report)

Over the past two weeks, there’s been a good deal of speculation about Ben Affleck’s sobriety.

To bring you up to speed, Affleck checked into rehab back in March to seek treatment for an alcohol addiction he’d been battling on and off for over a decade.

Over the summer, however, Ben appeared to relapse and was spotted drinking with girlfriend Lindsay Shookus on multiple occasions.

Now, sources say Affleck is in outpatient therapy for further treatment, and is once again intent on staying sober.

Shookus is a producer for Saturday Night Live, and sources close to the couple tell People magazine that Ben was on hand at 30 Rockefeller Center to support Lindsay over the weekend.

Witnesses note, however, that the Oscar winner was not on hand for the weekly after-party, likely as a result of his efforts to abstain from drinking.

So our congratulations go out to Ben for two reasons today:

Not only does he appear to be recommitted to his own sobriety, he also his position of power to condemn the repugnant actions of disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein.

As you’ve no doubt heard, Weinstein stands accused of sexually assaulting numerous women over the course of the past thirty years.

Weinstein was instrumental in the production and distribution of Good Will Hunting, the film that made household names of Affleck and friend Matt Damon.

But despite his longstanding ties to Weinstein, Affleck castigated the disgraced 64-year-old in a scathing social media post:

“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades,” Affleck wrote.

“The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others,” the actor continued.

It’s been rumored that Affleck’s statement was a response to a tweet from one of Weinstein’s alleged victims, actress Rose McGowan, who urged Ben and his brother Casey to speak out against their friend and former mentor.

We may never know for certain if McGowan played a role in convincing Ben to speak out, but the important thing is that Affleck took a stand against Weinstein’s vile behavior.

It’s been a rough year for Ben, what with a high-profile divorce, public struggle with addiction, and rumors of career difficulties.

But he certainly seems focused on ending 2017 on a high note, and for that, we applaud him.

Ryan Edwards After Rehab: Is He Still Sober?

During the most recent season finale of Teen Mom: OG, thousands of fans took to social media to express their shock at what’s arguably the most controversial scene in the show’s history.

The scene showed Ryan Edwards driving to his own wedding while so high on prescription painkillers that he could barely keep his eyes open.

Edwards checked into rehab shortly after he exchanged vows with Mackenzie Standifer, and by the time the episode aired, he was already undergoing treatment.

Still, the sight of Edwards endangering his own life and the lives of others by getting behind the wheel while high caused many fans to realize that the problem was more severe than they’d initially realized, and it prompted a major backlash against MTV.

Some accused the network of exploitative practices, while others demanded that Edwards be removed from the cast, arguing that he’s clearly in no state to cope with the pressures of reality TV stardom.

The scene was filmed several months ago, and Ryan completed rehab in late June.

He issued a statement assuring fans that he was cured of his addiction, but many were skeptical that he’d been able to put his demons behind him after just a few weeks of treatment.

Now a source has spoken to Hollywood Life on Edwards’ behalf, assuring the outlet that Ryan is happier and healthier than he’s been in years.

In fact, it seems his only complaint about life these days is that his ex, Maci Bookout, is a bit too concerned about his continued sobriety:

“Ryan is doing great since leaving rehab. He seems to have finally put his demons behind him and he’s really committed to his sobriety. But Maci refuses to believe that his recovery is genuine and real,” the insider says.

“It’s like she’s obsessed with him relapsing. She watches him like a hawk and is always on his back about being sober.”

It seems that Ryan believes the scrutiny is making it more difficult for him to leave his past in the past.

“Ryan is really frustrated. He gets it, he messed up, but he faced his issues and went and got treatment for them, and he believes that he now deserves support and the benefit of the doubt,” the source adds.

“Both Ryan and Mackenzie think that Maci is trying to cause drama; they’re really over it and wish she would just move on.”

It’s been rumored that Standifer has already quit the show, but it remains unclear if Edwards will return.

From the sound of things, it seems unlikely that he’ll allow his ex to “win” by quitting the series that made them both famous.

It’s an ugly situation … but it could make for some compelling television.

Scott Disick: I"ll Stay Sober Around the Kids ... But Only Then!

Can you be an out-of-control, lecherous drunk and a decent father at the same time? Scott Disick is reportedly determined to find out.

The Lord has zero plans to stop partying, but sources close to him insist he’s still capable of keeping his s–t together around his kids.

An insider told People magazine this, for real.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, absurd as he is and ridiculous as this sounds, is trying to juggle partying and being a father.

“He’s partying hard, but he is still good with the kids. He will stay sober around them,” the source said, instilling the utmost confidence.

“He’s definitely a bit out of it, no question.”

Fans familiar with Disick’s lifestyle no doubt recall his recent trip to Cannes, France, where he was spotted hooking up with Bella Thorne.

Despite reports that Scott dumped Thorne because she smells, the two are back together … not dating, but banging feverishly on occasion.

So it goes in the life of Lord D.

Disick has continued drinking and partying since returning to L.A., to the point where some friends fear he’s committing suicide via alcohol.

Over July 4 weekend, the 34-year-old kicked off the patriotic celebrations of all that is right with America by soaking himself silly in booze.

On Sunday, he and some friends arrived at Seaspice for lunch on a private yacht and invited a group of women to join him on his table.

An insider said of the crew, “They ordered multiple champagne parades, cocktails and food. His group spent a few thousand dollars.”

Pretty standard fare these days.

Ever since his breakup with longtime girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, Disick has been wayward, adrift in a sea of women and alcohol.

The parents of Mason, Penelope and Reign broke it off two years ago, but Scott reportedly felt they would get back together eventually.

Clearly, that didn’t happen.

Kourtney moved on with Justin Bieber (ugh) and most recently, with 23-year-old model Younes Bendjima, sending Scott into a tailspin.

All the same, even though Disick and Kardashian are no longer together, they communicate regularly for the sake of their three children.

The kids will be all sorts of confused some day, but hopefully by the time they can comprehend all of this, Scott will be a bit more stable.

As for Kourt’s relationship status, Kardashian and Bendjima are still a thing, kind of, but there are no strings and it’s as low-key as ever.

The couple actually went on a short break from their relationship, but that doesn’t mean it’s over either … just not a priority for Kourt.

“Since her Europe trip with Younes, Kourtney is laying low. She hasn’t seen Younes recently. She isn’t focused on dating,” a source said.

Kardashian and Bendjima first sparked dating rumors back in May when they were spotted having dinner in L.A. Scott was not happy.

One of Disick’s more epic benders came after he found out about Kourtney being seen with a new guy while he was overseas recently.

It is widely assumed that this was Younes.

The young model was later sighted in a luxury private villa in Cannes cuddling with the 38-year-old star, raising even more eyebrows.

Only time will tell how long this lasts, how Scott reacts, whether Disick suffers from liver disease, and so many other unanswered questions.

Maci Bookout to Ryan Edwards: Stay Away From Our Son Until You"re Sober!

If you watch Teen Mom online, then by now, you’re probably well aware of the escalating tensions between Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards.

The problems arise from the fact that Edwards has been coping with substance abuse issues, and he only recently agreed to seek treatment at an in-patient rehab facility.

It was a step in the right direction, but unfotunately it was only the beginning of the issues between Ryan and Maci.

Edwards left rehab earlier this week, and he immediately attacked Maci on social media.

It’s still not entirely clear why Edwards was so angry with Bookout, but it may have had something to do with the events of the most recent episode of Teen Mom: OG.

In the episode, Maci can be seen consulting with a drug counselor, who advises her to take a tough love approach to convincing Ryan to seek treatment.

This includes canceling planned visitations between Ryan and his son, Bentley.

Because the visits take place in the home of Edwards’ parents, Jen and Larry, she would essentially be keeping the boy from that side of the family entirely, a fact she acknowledged in comments to the counselor:

“Bentley’s going to be mad at me. He’s going to want to go to Jen and Larry’s [his grandparents] and I won’t be able to let him.” Maci said at one point.

If the scene outraged Edwards, he’s certainly not alone.

Numerous fans lashed out at Maci online for punishing her son and his grandparents for matters over which they have no control:

“So she is going to take it out on Ryan’s parents? Wonderful loving supportive grandparents since the start. SO WRONG!!” wrote one fan on social media.

Another cries hypocrisy, citing Bookout’s recent revelation that she and husband Taylor McKinney often fight with one another while drunk.

“Didn’t she admit this season that her and her husband get drunk and go at one another. Maybe Bentley should be with his grandparents since both parents have issues with substances,” the fan remarked.

Needless to say, many Teen Mom: OG fans remain firmly Team Ryan.

It’s unclear at the moment if Edwards completed his course of treatment, or if he left the facility ahead of schedule.

But it seems clear that as far as his issues with his baby mama go, Ryan is far from out of the woods.

Watch Teen Mom online to relive the many ups and downs of Ryan and Maci’s relationship.

Demi Lovato Celebrates 5 Years Sober: Read Her Message

Demi Lovato has something important to say.

And we doubt anyone will take issue with this statement.

Forget the controversial fact over Lovato claiming to be 1% African, she’s here with a far more persona message to send to all social media followers.

On Tuesday, the 24-year old celebrated a milestone:

She has now been sober for five years.

“So grateful. It’s been quite the journey. So many ups and downs,” the beloved star wrote alongside a progress tracker (below) from The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

She added as a caption to this image:

“So many times I wanted to relapse but sat on my hands and begged God to relieve the obsession. I’m so proud of myself but I couldn’t have done it without my higher power (God), my family, friends, and everyone else who supported me.

“Feeling humbled and joyful today.

“Thank you guys for sticking by my side and believing in me.”

Demi Lovato steps

Over the years, of course, the former Disney channel actress hasn’t shied away from addressing her tumultuous teenage years.

She’s spoken out on numerous occasions about her past of substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, depression and self-inflicted harm, all in the hopes of helping other people going through similar tribulations.

Back in 2010, Lovato left a tour with the Jonas Brothers in order to check into a rehab facility for three months.

She emerged a changed young woman, although she has often admitted that the struggle remains real and constant.

In 2013, for example, Demi reportedly moved into a sober living house for about a year.

She has since advocated for mental health reform on Capitol Hill after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

And, for someone who once fought a serious eating disorder, which stemmed from severe body confidence struggles, Lovato is now proud and open with her figure.

When she shares a revealing Instagram photo, for instance, she isn’t trying to make headlines or increase her follower count.

She’s trying to prove that anyone can feel good about him or herself.

“Like millions of Americans, I’m living with mental illness,” Lovato said before the crowd in Philadelphia at the Democratic National Convention last summer.

She continued:

“But I’m lucky.

“I had the resources and support to get treatment at a top facility. Unfortunately, too many Americans from all walks of life don’t get help, either because they fear the stigma or cannot afford treatment.

“Untreated mental illness can lead to devastating consequences, including suicide, substance abuse and long-term medical issues.

“We can do better. Every one of us can make a difference.

“By getting educated on this epidemic and its frightening statistics and by breaking the stigma. I urge every politician to support laws that will provide access to better health care and support for everyone.

“This is not about politics. It’s simply the right thing to do.”

Amen, Demi.

Here’s to five fifty more years of good health and happiness.
