Game of Thrones Creators Announce New Show, Draw Major Internet Ire

With Game of Thrones set to go off the air following Season 8, many television viewers have been wondering what creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will do for an encore.

And now they have the answer.

And now they are pretty pissed off about it.

On Wednesday, HBO announced that Benioff and Weiss will team up to executive produce Confederate.

The drama will take place in an alternative timeline during which a Third American Civil War is on the horizon.

According to the network synopsis, the southern states have seceded from the Union and are now home to a country in which slavery is legal… and has even evolved into a modern institution.

The story will follow a wide swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone: freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, reporters, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall.

It certainly sounds like an intriguing concept.

Not to mention a controversial one.

Slavery will be legal in this universe?!?

“As the brilliant Game of Thrones winds down to its final season, we are thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with Dan and David, knowing that any subject they take on will result in a unique and ambitious series,” said HBO programming president, Casey Bloys, adding:

“Their intelligent, wry and visually stunning approach to storytelling has a way of engaging an audience and taking them on an unforgettable journey.”

While Game of Thrones is the most popular show on television, it has received some criticism over the years for its lack of diversity.

There isn’t an African-American in the main cast, for example, which has prompted some on Twitter to question Benioff and Weiss’ next project.

To wit:

got show reaction

“How is @HBO showing an “alternate timeline” when the current prison system requires thousands of black people to work with no pay?” asked another concerned/annoyed Internet user.

Others, meanwhile, brought up the recent cancellation of WGN’s Underground.

This critically-acclaimed drama centered on vital figures involved in the Underground Railroad and it’s sort of a bummer that it received the axe.

Does it really have anything to do with Confederate? No.

But some people can’t help but see a sad contrast here, considering HBO just gave the green light to a series that will depict slavery as an accepted part of some new world.

underground responses

Nichelle Tramble Spellman and Malcolm Spellman will co-write the upcoming show and also serve as executive producers.

Said Benioff and Weiss in a statement:

“We have discussed Confederate for years, originally as a concept for a feature film.

“But our experience on Thrones has convinced us that no one provides a bigger, better storytelling canvas than HBO.

“There won’t be dragons or White Walkers in this series, but we are creating a world, and we couldn’t imagine better partners in world-building than Nichelle and Malcolm, who have impressed us for a long time with their wit, their imagination and their Scrabble-playing skills.”

What do you think of this slavery-themed series?

Is it a bad idea? An interesting idea? Or is way too early to judge?

Game of Thrones: Officially More Popular Than Porn!

On Sunday night, Game of Thrones set a ratings record.

With 10.1 million viewers tuning in for the original broadcast, “Dragonstone” became the most-watched season premiere in the history of HBO.

Heck, it even shattered the mark for the highest number of concurrent viewers on HBO Go and HBO Now.

This doesn’t really come as a shock, of course. We all know Game of Thrones is a big deal in pop culture.

But the above records only tell a small part of how popular Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 1 turned out to be.

For further, truly insightful analysis, we turn to the good folks at… Porn Hub?!?

Apparently!

The website has kept a running tally for years on the effect Game of Thrones episodes have on its traffic… and it just released a chart that depicts how viewership dropped 4.5% this past Sunday night when compared to typical Sunday nights on Porn Hub.

As you can see below, this is usually a popular evening for men (or women!) to log online and ogle some bare butts, boobs, penises or vaginas.

They may even masturbate to these body parts and/or to what these body parts are doing to each other.

hub, porn

But Game of Thrones has been known to feature its own fair share of boobs and butts.

Moreover, there are dragons!

And White Walkers!

And palace intrigue, murderous young members of the Stark family and even Ed Sheerhan!

This season’s opener provided a slightly more significant drop than last year’s premiere, when traffic was down only 4.1 percent.

However, if last season is any indication, every Sunday night will see a dip going forward, as the following Porn Hub chart illustrates:

porn vs. got

Following a Game 6 finale in which hundreds of people died and Cersei took over the Iron Throne, the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere was pretty tame.

But it did move various characters in various players, setting up clear battle lines and setting the stage for two major battles to come:

  1. Dany and company against Cersei and company.

  2. Everyone against The Night King.

Both of these storylines are interesting enough that people around the Internet would prefer to see how they play out instead of seeing how porn stars online scream out in ecstasy.

Winter is coming, indeed, but no one else is on Sunday nights.

Ed Sheeran Quits Twitter Following Game of Thrones Backlash

If you watched the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere on Sunday night, then you may have found yourself mildly repulsed at a scene that seemed to come straight out of left field.

No, we"re not talking about the weird Citadel montage with the match-cuts between bowls of stew and full chamber pots (although, seriously: ew.)

We"re talking about Ed Sheeran"s cameo as a soldier who croons "Hands of Gold," a song featuring lyrics that may offer some important hints about what"s to come.

GoT fans didn"t love Sheeran"s cameo, and with good reason.

The stunt-casting amounted to a major misstep by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, perhaps their biggest to date.

Sheeran"s appearance distracted from the events of the scene, and tonally, his appearance felt out of step not only with the rest of the episode, but with the rest of the series.

The blame rests with Weiss and Benioff, not Sheeran, but nevertheless, the singer was the butt of a good number of jokes on Twitter.

The unwanted attention was such that the 26-year-old deleted his account.

Check out some of the most viral burns in the gallery below and watch Game of Thrones online to relive Sheeran"s ill-advised cameo.

1. Dolorous Ed

Ed sheeran on game of thrones

One GoT fan used Sheeran’s own lyrics to mock him, tweeting this pic, along with a caption reading: “When the club isn’t the best place to find a lover but it turns out the bar isn’t either and so now you’re just open to any new ideas.”

2. Stassi Weighs In

Stassi weighs in

Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder offered her two cents. We’re sure many can relate.

3. Add Him to the List!

Add him to the list

This guy thinks Ed deserves a spot on Arya’s kill list. A tad harsh, but fans take their GoT seriously.

4. Ginger-Bashing

Ginger bashing

C’mon! This one doesn’t even have anything to do with Game of Thrones. Sure, we chuckled a bit, but still!

5. So Many Lyric Jokes

So many lyric jokes

Fans couldn’t get enough of using Ed’s lyrics to describe his ultra-random cameo.

6. Everyone’s a Critic

Everyones a critic

Harsh, but the guy’s got a point. Ed’s cameo really didn’t bring anything to the episode, and felt more like a misguided PR stunt.

"Game of Thrones" Returns with Ed Sheeran Cameo

Ed Sheeran didn’t stray far from his lane for his “Game of Thrones” debut, but not everyone is convinced he deserves two thumbs up for the performance. Sheeran’s brief appearance on the show is now one of the most talked about things about Sunday…

Game of Thrones Season 7 Premiere Recap: Arya"s Revenge & the Khaleesi"s Return!

In a way, the long-awaited Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere began in surprising fashion

In another sense, however, it delivered just the kind of jaw-dropping bad-assery that fans have come to expect from TV’s most obsessed-over series.

We kicked things off with, a pre-credits sequence featuring … a flashback?

As the pre-episode recap reminded us, Walder Frey died in the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale after noshing on pie made of his sons.

Of course, fans who recall Arya’s shape-shifting abilities likely sensed something was afoot from the start, and sure enough, what looked to be Walder was actually the most vengeful Stark in disguise, crossing a whole lot of names of her list at once.

The scene almost felt like showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss offering an apology to fans for the extra-long wait between new episodes.

We’ll take it.

From there, Dragonstone (a title that would prove to be loaded with meaning) updated us on the goings-on across Westeros at breakneck speed:

White Walker giants! Bran back in civilization! Political strife threatening to tear the Starks apart!

“No punishment for treason, no reward for loyalty” Sansa mutters at one point, indicating to the audience that she’s plannng on taking a harder line against enemies than her King in the North brother, Jon Snow.

Sansa is clearly bearing the emotional scars of the abuse she suffered from a succession of monsters, as she even goes so far as to compare Jon to Joffrey while admonishing him for his leniency with supporters.

Jon is briefly outraged, but Sansa remains his most trusted advisor, and the Stark siblings are able to keep things civil … for now.

At that point, Jon, concerned about threats from the North, receives an ominous message fro the South

He and Sansa have different concerns for good reason – he’s come face-to-face with the Night’s King, she knows just what Queen Cersei is capable of.

And with that, we shift focus to Westeros’ other powerful, divided family, the Lannisters.

Cersei is surprisingly reserved from a Mad Queen, but talk about Tommen reveals just how unhinged Cersei has become.

She forges an alliance with the Greyjoys in a scene that provides some much-needed comic relief.

Euron Greyjoy emerges as the show’s latest in a long line of charismatic rogues, arriving at King’s Landing with a load of hilarious smooth-talk and an unexpected marriage proposal.

Cersei is interested in alliances, but understandably done with marriage.

From there, we catch up with Sam in a montage that probably featured a few more poop close-ups than we needed.

A restricted area of the library that’s caught Sam’s attention quickly proves to be of tremendous importance, as we continue to lurch toward the series’ end game at a remarkable pace:

Littlefinger is scheming; there’s an Ed Sheeran cameo that we knew was coming, but was somehow still surprising; and the Hound is back, alongside Thoros of Myr, still thirsting for booze, and now rocking a comb-over man bun.

Sandor Clegane is his typically cheery self, telling tales of friends who “shat themselves to death in fields.”

Thus far, there hasn’t been a throwaway scene in what might be the most entertaining place-setting episode in TV history, and the Hound’s time at a secluded cabin in the woods proves no different:

The father and daughter are the same impovierished pair he and Arya encountered during their travels, and his vision spurred by the flames offers a portentous reminder of the series’ central motif (ice and fire).

(We know about the White Walkers and their relationship to ice; George R.R. Martin recently revealed that the death-averse Beric Dondarion is a fire wight.)

Speaking of impending doom, Sam’s discovery of dragonglass under Dragonstone (duh!) sets up the alliance between Jon and Daenerys

And just when you thought the premiere would end with no further mention of the Khaleesi, we get, in rapid succession:

A heavily-grey-scaled Jorah, Daenerys arriving at Dragonstone, complete with triumphant dragon flights … and the Stone Throne, which we didn’t know existed before now

“Shall we begin?” Dany asks Tyrion a final line that no doubt gave many fans chills.

Like the Mother of Dragons, GoT is back, and it’s wasting absolutely no time.

Watch Game of Thrones online to get caught up on a season that likely won’t slow down.

It"s been a longer wait than usual, but Game of Thrones Season 7 is finally upon us!

Daenerys Targaryen is finally in the West, and it seems she has her sights set on big things. Literally. It looks like she’s looking at a dragon here.

2. Brienne and Podrick In Battle

We’re sure they’re just training. Still, these two going toe-to-toe should make for an interesting scene.

3. Dolorous Edd and Company

Game of Thrones Season 7: First Episode Titles Released!

Well, we might be a bit behind schedule due to the difficulty of finding suitably wintry filming locations on our increasingly balmy globe, but it’s finally time for our annual round of Let’s Speculate About Plot Points Based on Vague Game of Thrones Episode Titles!

In the past, the game was a bit easier, due to the fact that you could pick up one of the George R.R. Martin books that the series is based on figure out where things are headed.

If you had no interest in reading the books, you could just find a dude who owns a decorative sword or an iguana named Drogon and ask him what happens next.

These days, however, we’re well beyond the point where Martin’s last book left off, and it’s anyone’s guess as to where the Battle for the Iron Throne will lead from here.

Earlier today, HBO dropped three big clues in our lap, and they’re a lot like Danerys’ dragon eggs from Season 1:

Loaded with potential, but frustratingly mysterious.

Fortunately, we’re here to help you puzzle them out.

Here are the episodes and what we can glean based on their somewhat vague titles:

Dragonstone (Sunday, July 16, 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT): As fans of the books (and those who paid very close attention to the dialogue from the show) might already know, Dragonstone is the name of the Targaryen’s homeland in Westeros.

Considering that’s where Dany and her fleet of ships were setting sail for in the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale, you can expect that that’s where much of the episode will take place.

You can also expect that the newly-crowned Queen Cersei won’t be happy to hear that yet another claimant to the Iron Throne has arrived in the West.

According to the official description from HBO:

“Jon (Kit Harington) organizes the defense of the North. Cersei (Lena Headey) tries to even the odds. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) comes home.”

Yeah, not a whole lot of help there.

Stormborn (Sunday, July 23, 9:00-10:00 p.m.): Yes, it sounds like we’re in for two Khaleesi-heavy episodes in a row!

Any who dare complain will be promptly roasted (on Twitter, not by dragons).

Stormborn, of course, is one of Daenerys’ many names along with Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Inspirer of Impure Thoughts in Virginal Fan Boys.

The episdode’s description reads:

“Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) receives an unexpected visitor. Jon (Kit Harington) faces a revolt. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) plans the conquest of Westeros.”

We know from a previously released photo that this is also the episode in which Jon Snow leaves Winterfell, so don’t be surprised if these two fan favorites finally join forces.

And Tyrion will be there, too!

The Queen’s Justice (Sunday, July 30 9:00-10:00 p.m.): And this being Game of Thrones, we shouldn’t be surprised that it sounds as though that happy moment will be followed by misery for all.

“Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) holds court. Cersei (Lena Headey) returns a gift. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) learns from his mistakes.”

“The King’s Justice” is a phrase used to refer to the royal executioner in King’s Landing.

Since Cersei is sitting atop the Iron Throne these days, we’re guessing heads will roll in this episode.

The description from HBO reads:

“Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) holds court. Cersei (Lena Headey) returns a gift. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) learns from his mistakes.”

So there you have it, couple that with what we already know about Season 7, and you start to get an idea of the show’s penultimate season.

Not surprisingly, it’s dark, but it sounds like it’ll be peppered with some fan-pleasing moments, as well.

As always you can watch Game of Thrones online to get caught up in time for the big premiere.

But hurry – winter in July is coming,

Hodor: Game of Thrones Favorite Resurrected For KFC Commercial

So, what are you doing for National Fried Chicken Day?

Did you take the day off to spend some quality time with a bucket of Extra Crispy?

Will you be honoring the fallen hen heroes who gave their lives in the name of deliciousness by watching some Foghorn Leghorn cartoons?

We kid, of course, but believe it or not, July 6 actually has been declared National Fried Chicken Day.

We"re generally opposed to this "every day is some sort of dumb holiday" trend, but as lovers of what Tom Haverford calls "fry-fry chicky-chick," we"re actually okay with the idea of National Fried Chicken Day.

So we don"t know why KFC had to go and ruin the whole thing by forcing us to flashback to the death of one of TV"s most beloved character!

If you watch Game of Thrones online, then the words "hold the door" likely conjure memories of a scene that will forever live in infamy.

We"re talking, of course, about the death of Hodor.

(Our apologies if the demise comes as news to you, but we"re pretty sure with shows as popular as GoT, the statute of limitations on spoilers is like a week.)

Anyway, we didn"t think any good could come from the demise of our favorite gentle giant, but then Hodor actor Kristian Nairn teamed up with the UK branch of KFC to deliver what is unexpectedly a pretty damn funny commercial.

Check out below … just don"t say we didn"t warn you if you end up all triggered and whatnot:

Game of Thrones Season 7: Two Bombshell Spoilers Confirmed!

Game of Thrones fans are accustomed to waiting.

After all, George R.R. Martin has spent the last six years literally typing with two fingers and secretly hoping the sun will engulf the Earth before he has to decide who will win the Iron Throne.

But the wait for GoT Season 7 has been excruciating even for the most patient Throners.

(We just don’t understand why that nickname hasn’t caught on!)

Not only is this the longest the show has gone between seasons, but the tension has risen steadily as the show nears its conclusion.

There are only 13 Game of Thrones episodes remaining, so you can be sure there won’t be a wasted line of dialogue in seasons seven and eight.

The added time off has resulted in even more Game of Thrones spoilers than usual flaoating around on social media.

As always, we’re sure some of them will turn out to be bunk, but today, two big ones were confirmed by Time magazine reporter Daniel D’Addario who visited the set in Belfast.

This should go without saying, but obviously, the remainder of this article is dark and full of spoilers.

For starters, D’Addario confirmed something many Game of Thrones have long suspected:

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have begun the process of merging and condensing the show’s many disparate storylines, which means the means the majority of the action will take place in

So it’s reunion time for the surviving Starks, and one beloved pet will be reappearing for the first time since season one.

During the family’s ill-fated journey south, Arya Stark sent her direwolf, Nymeria, away so that she wouldn’t be put down for biting Prince Joffrey.

In his article, describes a pack of wolves who are “described in the script as ‘skinny and mangy"” arriving on set.

Most of the other Stark direwolves have been killed off, and fans have pointed out that the only pack in the books that meets D’Addario’s description is led by Nymeria.

That may seem like a minor detail, but as readers of the books know, the psychic connection between the Stark children and their wolves is hugely important.

The return of Nymeria will no doubt serve as a watershed moment, and its signifigance is hinted at in the first Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer, which concludes with the line, “the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”

Elsewhere in the article, D’Addario confirms that the rumors of the show’s biggest battle scene to date are true.

And he unintentionally reveals a major detail about said conflict.

D’Addario writes of being “dazzled” by the “sheer scope” of the battle, adding that the scene was made even more impressive by the fact that the cast filmed through a “frigid North Atlantic wind.”

He notes that Kit Harington was on set … alongside Emilia Clarke and her mechanical dragons.

Yes, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and dragons, all in the same, snowy place.

Fans have been speculating for years that Jon and Dany would eventually join forces, but now we know for sure that it’s happening this season.

We suppose it’s possible that they’re on opposite sides of the battle, but if you think Weiss and Benioff would pit the two fan favorites against one another, then you might know less than Jon Snow.

Watch Game of Thrones online to get caught up in time for what’s sure to be an unforgettable season.

Emilia Clarke Talks "Big Tits," Game of Thrones Season 7

Just over a year ago, Emilia Clarke appeared on Conan and made a plea for Game of Thrones to FREE THE PENIS!

Alas, the epic HBO drama still depicts more female nudity than male nudity on a regular basis.

But at least Clarke can sleep well at night, knowing she did her best to help women around the world out a bit.

In an interview with the latest issue of Rolling Stone, meanwhile, the actress said it took her awhile to realize just what sort of effect her gender has had on her life since since she struck it big.

Men all over the Internet may search for Emilia Clarke nude photos because they’re young and horny, while fans of this series may joke about how many times they’ve seen Clarke topless…

… but the star sort of woke up one day and realized that sexism is alive and not very well.

“You’re aware of it, and you’re aware of it, but one day, you go, ‘Oh, my God, it’s everywhere!’ Like you suddenly wake up to it and you go, ‘Wait a fucking second, are you . . . are you treating me different because I’ve got a pair of tits? Is that actually happening?"” she says to Rolling Stone, adding:

“It took me a really long time to see that I do get treated differently. But I look around, and that’s my daily life.”

Clarke is aware she’s fortunate.

She’s aware that she was named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2015 and that her looks have helped to further her career.

But she still has an important message to send:

“It doesn’t stop me from being a feminist. Like, guess what?

“Yes, I’ve got mascara on, and I also have a high IQ, so those two things can be one and the same.”

As Game of Thrones embarks on its final two seasons (yes, EVER!), Clarke’s character is finally setting sail for Westeros.

She is finally taking the climactic steps toward the Iron Throne, following many years of being one of the biggest female bad asses on television.

“Women have been great rulers,” she says of her role and the challenging world in which she’s acting these days.

“And then for that to be a character that I’m known to play? That’s so f-cking lucky. Anyone who seems to think that it’s not needed need only look at the political environment we’re all living in to be like, ‘Oh, no, it’s needed.

“It is needed.”

It really is.

And while we do care a lot about feminism and politics and equality and strong women, we need to know from Clarke:

Can she reveal any Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers?

“Spoiler alert – I normally don’t spend very much time in Belfast, but this last season I spent a little more time there,” she teases.

“It’s a really interesting season in terms of some loose ends that have been tied, some really satisfying plot points, some things where you’re like, ‘Oh, my God. I forgot about that!’

“Rumors are going to be confirmed or denied.”

One rumor going around if that a Game of Thrones spinoff (or four Games of Thrones spinoffs) is in the works.

This may be the case, but don’t expect to see Clarke as Daenerys Targaryes in any of them.

“I am doing one more season. And then that’ll be it,” she says to Rolling Stone.

We get it. We get that Clarke likely wants to spread her wings and try something else.

We’re just going to miss Emilia Clarke, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains… Talker ‘Bout Boobies. We’re gonna miss her a lot.

Game of Thrones Preview: New Footage, Old (SCARY!) Enemy

The enemy is real. It"s always been real.

So intones Jon Snow in a new trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7, which kicks off on July 16 on HBO and which will serve as the beginning of the end for this beloved drama.

The network has confirmed that the battle for the Seven Kingdoms will wrap up next summer, leaving fans wondering what could possibly be on tap over the next several episodes.

And now we may have an answer or two.

In the following new footage, Rhaegar Targaryen’s valiant son acting like a politician.

Now isn"t the time for partisan divide, he basically says. We better work together or else winter will come for us all.

"For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy," he says. "Despite their differences, together. We need to do the same if we’re going to survive.”

This new teaser provides fans with an up-close-and-personal look at the very threat Snow describes here, as the Night King and his frozen underlings strike a frightening shadow over all of our favorites from the HBO drama.

(Seriously, there nearly all present in this two-minute sneak peek.)

Along with Snow hoping his friends and even his enemies heed his warning, Sansa Stark also get in some narrating below.

She talks about the winter and how it"s coming and how everyone is more or less screwed as a result.

"When the snows fall, and the white wind blows, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives…" she says.

What about Dany? Tyrion? The fight for the Iron Throne?

It"s all covered, or at least hinted at, in the video below.

(It"s also all covered in these Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers, which you"re very welcome to peruse if you want some inside, early information.)

Game of Thrones Season 7 Spoilers: Who Dies? What"s Jon Snow"s Real Name?

It feels we’ve waited a dozen Long Nights for the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere, but the summer is finally upon us, children!

Yes, we’re exactly one month away from one of the most highly-anticipated episodes of television since that Happy Days where Fonzie demonstrated to the world that water-skiing in a leather jacket is not only possible, but a good and cool thing to do.

Hopefully there won’t be any shark jumping this time around, but if creators D.B Weiss and David Benioff decide to bring Ramsay Bolton back just to have him devoured by beasts again, we’d be cool with that.

Okay, you’ve sat through the long-winded throat-clearing sesh worthy of GRRM himself, now it’s time for what you really came for:

Yes, we’re talking spoilers, so don’t read any further and then complain in the comments if you don’t want to know what’s in store.

We’re sending up more red flags than a Lannister army here, so you’ll have no one to blame except yourself.

Here goes:

As in years past, the show’s creators have done their damnedest to keep major developments under wraps, and for the most part, they’ve done an impeccable job.

But this is 2017, and online GoT obsessives are like Lord Varys, but with much, much greater interest in porn.

As a result, the little birds have come home to roost, and it looks like we now have several pieces of potentially game-changing information about the upcoming season:

The leaks started back in November, when a Reddit user posted what he claimed was the entire plot of Game of Thrones Season 7.

Obviously, we have no way of knowing if his information is accurate, but the two new details that emerged this week are a little easier to fact-check:

First, bad news for people who like bad dudes:

Word on the web is that Littlefinger’s nefarious deeds finally catch up with him, and he gets iced in Season 7.

Not exactly a stunner, of course, as with all the double-crossing he’s gotten away with, Lord Baelysh has been a marked man for quite some time now.

The most convincing evidence for the theory that Littlefinger is headed for the big brothel in the sky comes from a recent cover of Entertainment Weekly, which shows Arya Stark rocking what appears to be Baelish’s Valyrian steel dagger.

It seems unlikely that he would simply hand it over without a fight, so in all likelihood, either ruthless killing machine Arya takes him out, or someone else does and gives her the blade as a gift.

Either way, RIP, Lord Baelish.

You certainly kept things insteresting.

This week’s other major spoiler concerns the Boy Who Lived (after he died) King in the North Jon Snow:

In the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale, some of our longstanding questions about Jon’s past and parentage were answered.

Now, according to a leaked page from an upcoming issue of Empire magazine, we’re soon to learn a lot more about The Man Who Knows Nothing.

The page reads:

“As we saw in the last episode of season 6, Bran’s psychic time-traveling ‘green sight’ revealed the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage and his real name: Jaehaerys Targaryen.

‘Bran’s now in this precarious situation in which it’s just him and Meera, and he has all of this information that could change the entire story,” said [Bran actor] Isaac Hempstead Wright. And it’s not just about Jon. ‘He knows all about the White Walkers too.’

Jarhaerys Targaryen I, known as “the Old King,” sat atop the Iron Throne longer than any other Targaryen momarch.

He’s remembered in Westeros as a wise and just king who butted heads with the dangerous Faith Militant (the High Sparrow’s be-robed douche bags).

Lyanna Stark naming her son after one of the most revered figures in Targaryen history would support the fan theory that she was in love her supposed kidnapper (and Jon’s father) Rhaegar Targaryen.

All of this, of course, would have huge implications with regard to where the story is headed from here.

So there you have it.

Two of this season’s biggest surprises effectively ruined.

As always, you can watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic, to try and puzzle out more spoilers, so as to suck the remaining fun of watching the story as it unfolds.

Game of Thrones Season 7: First (Epic!) Footage!

The great war is here.

So says Jon Snow in the following trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7.

And while Jon Snow is often accused of knowing nothing, we"re pretty sure he"s right on point in this case.

HBO has unveiled the first extended preview for this summer"s seven-episode season, which will kick off on July 16 and which will also kick things into VERY high gear.

“Everything happened quicker than I’m used to,” said Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) of filming Season 7. “A lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode."

Added producer David Benioff in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"For a long time we’ve been talking about the wars to come. Well, that war is pretty much here. So it’s really about trying to find a way to make the storytelling work without feeling like we’re rushing it.

"You still want to give characters their due, and pretty much all the characters that are now left are all important characters."

With fans curious about the four Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works, this promo ought to get them re-focused on the original show itself and what"s on tap in July and August.

Below, we see Cersei outline all the enemies that are making their way to King"s Landing, as she tells Jaime they will defeat anyone who gets in their way.

"We’re the last Lannisters," she says at one point, this is their duty.

Ummm… what about Tyrion?

"The last Lannisters that count," Cersei says.

Oh.

Elsewhere, a certain Mother of Dragons is dead set of taking her rightful place on the throne. And it looks like she"ll make it across the sea on Season 7.

"I was born to rule the seven kingdoms. And I will," says Dany.

HBO has confirmed that this iconic series will wrap up after Season 8, which will kick off in the summer of 2018.

But while that"s sad to ponder, Kit Harrington assures fans that the journey will be well worth it.

“They spent an increasing amount of money on less episodes, so it’s gonna be much bigger in scale, the CGI,” teases the actor behind Jon Snow, adding:

“We’re trying new things, experimenting with new camera techniques. I think we’re trying to break boundaries and push past boundaries in these final two seasons.”
