Amber Heard Files for Divorce from Johnny Depp: Get the Details!

Now Johnny Depp really has a reason to wonder why all the rum is gone…

The actor is officially splitting from Amber Heard, TMZ and other outlets have confirmed, now that his wife of 15 months has filed for divorce.

The petition went into the court system on Monday, with Heard citing the reliable reason of “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for the break-up.

The famous duo got married in February of last year… Amber is asking for spousal support… and there is no prenuptial agreement in place.

Talk of trouble in paradise for Depp and Heard grew pretty strong a few months ago.

On the one-year anniversary of their nuptials, an insider told E! News that the first 12 months of marriage was filled with “ups and downs.”

“They’re in a good place right now and are excited for the future,” added the source, who still emphasized that the past year had not been “exactly smooth sailing.”

The couple met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and controversy often surrounded their relationship.

At first, it was due to the rumor that Depp was still involved with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis when he started sleeping with Heard (he was not).

From there, many focused on the large age gap between Depp and Heard; she is 22 years his junior.

But come on. He’s Johnny Depp.

The two have been one of the most private couples in Hollywood ever since getting together, but Depp did speak glowingly of Heard in January at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

“I also have to thank my wife, Amber, for putting up with me, for living with all these characters, which can’t be easy,” he said as he accepted the Desert Palm Achievement Award.

Referring to his endless number of eccentric roles over the years, Depp added:

“It’s hard for me – it’s got to be hard for her.”

Maybe harder than Depp realized at the time.

We wish each star the best of luck in their post-marriage lives.
