Beyonce Fan FaceTimes with Singer, Dies of Cancer
We interrupt all the happy stories surrounding Beyonce and her pregnancy to bring you a sad piece of news having to do with the singer.
Ebony Banks, the high school student who made news last week for FaceTiming with Beyonce while battling stage four cancer, has passed away from the disease.
In a short conversation that made its way on to Twitter (below), the singer told Banks that she loved her, while a clearly emotional Banks responded in kind.
Ebony – who attended Alief Hastings High School in Houston, Texas – had tragically spent a majority of her senior year at MD Anderson Cancer Center, fighting a rare type of cancer, according to local affiliate KIAH.
Earlier this month, the school district held a special early graduation ceremony for Banks on March 16.
As a unique gift, her friends and classmates created the hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE on social media to try and make one of the patient’s biggest dreams come true.
“Beyonce is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyonce’s attention,” sophomore Karina Gutierrez told local KTRK-TV of the mission.
Word spread to Beyonce and the following call took place last Wednesday:

Four days later, however, Banks passed away.
According to Click2Houston, family and friends of the teenager gathered for a candlelight vigil in her memory on Sunday evening.
“Thank you to everyone who helped #ebobmeetsbeyonce @Beyonce,” Banks’ school Tweeted along with a screenshot from the pair’s call session last week.
The school also shared a photo of Banks from her graduation, as she became the first member of her class to earn her diploma:
Prior to talking with Beyonce on the phone, Banks told local station KHOU the following of the artist:
“She’s like my everything and my idol. And if I ever met her, I would probably pass out.”
The late student had been accepted to college, according to Us Weekly, and was hoping to become a pediatric nurse so that she could assist other young people who were fighting cancer.
Alas, she will never get that opportunity now.
But at least she got to enjoy the experience of a lifetime prior to leaving this Earth.
May Ebony Banks rest in peace.

Tarek El Moussa Shares Cancer Photo, Inspiring Message
Tarek El Moussa appears to be aware of his reputation these days.
A few months after filing for divorce from wife (and Flip or Flip co-host) Christina, El Moussa has found himself the subject of multiple scathing allegations.
First, there was the incident last May in which Tarek responded to an argument with Christina by grabbing a gun (!!!!) and heading into the woods (?!?!?).
Both Tarek and Christina acknowledged this incident late last year when news of their separation went public, explaining that no one was injured and no charges filed against El Moussa.
Still, it didn’t exactly paint Tarek in the most positive or stable of lights.
Then, amidst analysis over what went wrong in this marriage, there was the report that Tarek often treated Christina very poorly on the set of their HGTV series.
One tabloid cover even claimed that Tarek joked about raping his wife.
YIKES, right?
Over the past few weeks, meanwhile, Christina has appeared on the cover of People and talked openly about her relationship with Tarek.
She hasn’t blamed him for the romance falling apart, instead taking the high road any time the subject gets mentioned and making it clear that the ex-couple’s two young kids are her priority.
In other words: Christina has been totally winning the PR game.
Perhaps aware of this discrepancy, Tarek has shared a new photo on his Instagram account.
We posted it at the outset of this article and now we present the caption, which references Tarek’s battle with two kinds of cancer:
Thyroid cancer and Testicular cancer.
He was actually diagnosed with both these diseases in 2013.
“I thought I would share this with everyone… to truly understand how absolutely sick I was.. look at this photo and look at my eyes, I was a skeleton,” Tarek wrote on Thursday night, adding:
“This took a major toll on my physical and mental health.”
We can only imagine.
Tarek concluded his inspiring message as follows:
I know many of my fans have had similar struggles and can relate. The last 3 years were the hardest of my life, I look back and still wonder how I survived…
I never quit although I wanted to thousands of times all day every day. This is from hurting my back after battling 2 cancers.. I had a 60 pound weight swing from my illnesses…
I’m proud to say I didn’t quit and I’m in the best shape of my life!!
For everyone struggling right now from any situation.. remember… keep your head up and don’t quit! There is light at the end of the tunnel, stay strong!
If Tarek was looking for a way to turn public opinion more in his direction, it’s safe to say this picture and this caption succeeded.
Despite their split, Tarek and Christina continue to film Flip or Flop together. They are under contract for another season of the show.
Will they ever get back together?
Despite supposed photographic evidence, we strongly doubt it.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t be on friendly terms, co-parenting their infants as a team and proving that not all celebrity divorces need to be contentious, ugly and/or messy.
We wish both El Moussas nothing but the best.

Val Kilmer: Actor"s Gaunt Appearance Sparks Cancer Rumors
Back in February of 2015, several media outlets reported that Val Kilmer was on his deathbed.
The actor was reportedly suffering from throat cancer, and several insiders insisted that his condition had been exacerbated by his Christian Scientist beliefs, which prevented him from undergoing necessary medical procedures.
Clearly, either Kilmer’s condition was exaggerated or he made a miraculous recovery, because two years later, the beloved screen icon is still standing – but some continue to maintain that he’s on his last legs.
Kilmer appeared at an event in Los Angeles last week to promote his one-man show Citizen Twain, which has reportedly been put on indefinite hiatus due to the actor’s health issues.
Kilmer canceled a tour of the show back in November and has yet to reschedule.
The event on February 9 marked his first public appearance in several weeks.
Sadly, those in attendance say the actor appeared pale and gaunt, and was unable to stand while addressing the audience (as prior speakers had) and seemed to run out of breath while speaking.
“He performs as the ghost of Mark Twain in the show, but even as a dead man he looked ten times better than he does now,” one attendee told Radar Online.
The witness added:
“The difference between Val three years ago and him on stage now is both shocking and heartbreaking.”
“He could barely stand, he had to sit down to talk,” said another audience member.
“He was gasping for breath and he’s lost about half his body weight. His face has such deep lines on it and he appears so fragile. It is so sad to see such a huge talent so humbled.”
Kilmer’s sallow appearance and long disappearances from the spotlight have led to numerous rumors about his declining health.
Back in November, the actor’s longtime friend Michael Douglas confirmed that Kilmer has cancer.
Kilmer issued a statement saying that he is fond of Douglas, but that Douglas is telling tales out of school:
“Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talented people,” Kilmer said.
“I’m sure he meant no harm.”
The elegiac tone of Citizen Twain has led some fans to speculate that it’s meant to serve as Kilmer’s swan song:
“The first half of the show is very funny, but the second half is a lot more reflective,” says one audience member.
“It’s very philosophical in places and deals with some big questions.”

Erin Andrews Reveals Cancer Diagnosis: Get the Details
Erin Andrews has opened up for the first time about something very painful and very personal:
She was diagnosed last year with cervical cancer.
The reporter and Dancing with the Stars co-host made this reveal in an interview with Sports Illustrated, confirming that she has undergone successful surgery to remove all traces of the terrible disease.
Andrews explained how she she had this type of cancer in September, a few months after settling her $ 55 million lawsuit against the Nashville Marriott.
The broadcaster had been awarded this large sum as the result of a stranger secretly filming her in the nude while staying in the room next to her in that hotel.
And she says that getting through this embarrassing incident toughened her up for her cancer battle.
“After the trial everyone kept telling me, ‘You’re so strong, for going through all of this, for holding down a job in football, for being the only woman on the crew,’” Andrews told SI’s MMQB website.
“Finally I got to the point where I believed it too. ‘Hey, I have cancer, but dammit, I am strong, and I can do this.”
Andrews was encouraged by her oncologist at the time to go under the knife as soon as possible, but she had a game to help broadcast.
So Andrews did her job and then flew to Los Angeles to deal with the disease.
On October 11, she underwent surgery, 17 days after the diagnosis was made.
But Andrews made it clear that she had a game later that week to go cover and that was not going to let a little thing like cancer get in the way of her professional goals.
“I’m not watching any football games at home this year,” she says she him. “This is our Super Bowl year, and I’m not missing the Super Bowl.”
It’s true: Fox is set to air the Atlanta Falcons versus the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 5.
Two days after her surgery, Andrews was off to Green Bay to cover a Packers game.
She adds that fiance Jarret Stoll, who plays professional hockey, tried to get Andrews to take some time off work, but she didn’t think twice about her decision.
She had an easy response for him.
“You wouldn’t miss a game,” Andrews responded. “You’d play through any injury, do whatever it takes to get back out there. That’s going to be me.”
On November, 1, Andrews underwent a second procedure; she then learned 16 days later that she was all clear. She would not need radiation or chemotherapy.
Looking forward, Andrew thinks this ordeal will help her do her job even better than before.
“In a way, this all has allowed me related to players more,” she says. “I understand what it’s like to be the story.”
An inspiring story at that.
