Mark Salling Attempted Suicide Before Plea Bargain: Report
According to multiple new reports, Mark Salling slit his wrists and tried to kill himself prior to striking a plea bargain in his child pornography case.
The incident allegedly took place in the bedroom of Salling’s Los Angeles home on August 22, both TMZ and The Mirror write.
The disgraced ex-Glee star cut both his wrists and quickly “freaked out,” an insider says, explaining that Salling yelled for his roommate almost immediately upon realizing what he had done.
The roommate rushed in, found Salling covered in blood and called 911.
Paramedics then rushed to the scene, placed the actor in an ambulance and took him to the hospital.
TMZ reports that Salling was taken for psychiatric evaluation after this suicide attempt – and, days later, was transported to a rehab facility for psychological issues.
It’s unclear if he was officially diagnosed with any official condition or ailment.
But if you’re wondering why Salling is almost always wearing long sleeves, even in California, it’s because he has scars on his arms from this cutting.
Earlier this month, Salling reached a plea deal on charges that stemmed from police finding over 50,000 images of child porn and erotica on his personal computer.
The actor, best known for playing Noah Puckerman for years on the aforementioned Fox comedy, faces four to seven years in prison for this crime.
He has also agreed to make restitution, in the amount of $ 50,000 per victim, although it’s unknown at this time just how many victims are actually included among Salling’s heinous misdeeds.
A judge has not yet handed down a sentence.
As part of Salling’s eventual release, however, he will be registered as a sex offender.
Moreover, he will not be allowed to live within view of any school yards, parks, public swimming pools, playgrounds, video arcades, or any other places that are regularly visited by people under the age of 18.
TMZ, meanwhile, says it has spoken to Salling’s attorney and he denied this suicide story.
However, he did not say which details were incorrect, adding:
“Mark is physically fine and Mark is spending his time atoning and working on himself.”
He very clearly has a lot to work on.

Brittany Kerr and Jason Aldean Mark Emotional Return to Las Vegas
Very tastefully, Saturday Night Live had Jason Aldean on to play a moving tribute to the Las Vegas shooting victims.
Now, his wife marked their somber return to Las Vegas with a powerful photograph.
Remember — Jason and Brittany aren’t just symbols of the shooting because so many victims were Jason’s fans. They themselves are survivors.
First, we have to talk about Brittany’s harrowing experience during the shooting itself.
This was doubly — actually, triple-y scary for Jason Aldean’s wife. She wasn’t just worried about herself or her husband or the crowd.
Brittany Aldean is pregnant, you guys.
In the aftermath of the terrorist shooting, Brittany posted about her experience to Instagram — and it’s clear that her pregnancy and her unborn child loomed heavily in her mind.
“When the gunfire started, I was not with Jason, but with some friends in a tent close to Mandalay.”
As if a shooting isn’t bad enough already — not being with your loved one but knowing that they’re out there is even worse.
“As you can imagine my first instinct was to run to him and his was the same.”
Of course it was!
“As we laid behind equipment onstage with some of our road family, bullets flying past… all I could think was ‘I never even got to hold my baby."”
A terrifying thought.
We get that she’s famous and so some people don’t want to feel sorry for her, but remember that everyone experiences terrorist attacks the same way. It’s a war zone.
“We all made sure the others knew we loved them and then ran for cover where we stayed for the next couple hours. (Not knowing if there were multiple shooters, where the bullets were coming from… NOTHING)”
Remember, we know a lot about the shooter now, but at the time they didn’t even know how many attackers there were.
“We were the lucky ones. I can’t put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are no longer with us.”
We all understand.
“Took me a while to be able to write these words… thank you to everyone who has reached out to Jason and I… Means the world to us.”
Some people never find the words. And that’s okay.
Now, Jason and Brittany have returned to Vegas and shared a photo that would almost seem innocuous if you didn’t know the context.
Brittany shared this caption:
“Feels surreal being back in Vegas today. Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives.”
She thanks the fellow survivors in Vegas.
“You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget. #vegasstrong”
That’s a moving message.
She kept it short, but that seems appropriate. She’s already shared her experiences. And we’re sure that she doesn’t want to talk over other survivors.
The couple’s response in general has been very encouraging.
Jason Aldean went onto SNL, as we mentioned, to perform Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”
That surprise performance was powerful, emotional, and a very appropriate tribute to the victims — those who made it and those who didn’t.
It’s all part of the long, long healing process.
Quite frankly, though, until we know a lot more about the shooting and resolve some of the public’s unanswered questions, we don’t know how anyone can truly heal.

Mark Salling Pleads Guilty in Child Porn Case, Faces 4-7 YEARS in Prison
Actor Mark Salling could be facing some serious prison time after entering a plea of guilty to child pornography charges today.
The ex-Glee star pleaded guilty in the case, which reportedly involved possession of material involving a prepubescent minor.
This comes over a year following his arrest, after which he appeared in an L.A. courtroom for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty.
The terms of his plea agreement state that Salling would serve 4-7 years behind bars followed by up to 20 years of supervised release.
Conditions of said release will be determined by the court.
Mark Salling will also have to register as a sex offender and participate in psychological counseling and/or enroll in a treatment program.
In June of last year, the 35-year-old was indicted on two charges of receiving and possessing child pornography on his laptop.
It was also on a hard drive and 16GB USB flash drive.
He got arrested December 29, 2015, at which point Salling’s devices were seized by investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The items “contained thousands of images and videos depicting child pornography,” according to police involved with the case.
Days after Salling’s indictment, he was fired from his gig on the miniseries Gods and Secrets. He has kept a low profile since.
In May of last year, he was indicted on two charges of child pornography, which carries a possible 20-year jail term for each.
Around the time of his arraignment, court documents were obtained detailing the graphic extent of the evidence against him.
The documents contained 100,000 pages of evidence of Mark’s crimes, including photos and forensic examination results.
Yes, 100,000 pages.
“Several digital devices containing images of child pornography” are also said to exist, and that’s not even the worst part.
Salling allegedly even had a video in his possession that was purported to show a five-year-old performing a sex act.
Unbelievable.
Naya Rivera, who co-starred with him on Glee and reportedly had a fling with him back in the day, said she wasn’t surprised.
“My son’s nanny actually told me about it when the story broke,” Naya writes in her book Sorry, Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up.
“I can’t say I was totally shocked, but still – WTF? Then I had no doubt that God really did have my back along the way.”

Mark LaMura Dies; Veteran Actor Was 68
Mark LaMura, an Emmy-nominated actor best known for his role as Mark Dalton on All My Children, died on Monday after a battle with lung cancer.
He was 68 years old.
The veteran star appeared on the aforementioned soap opera from 1977 to 1989, although he continued to stop by now and then throughout the 1990s.
During his stint as Pine Valley’s Dalton, La Mura’s most memorable storylines included romancing his (at the time unknown to him) sibling Erica (played by the incomparable Susan Lucci) and undergoing an intervention about his drug addiction.
The character was eventually written off the series, but returned at one point to play a role in Erica’s intervention for substance abuse.
LaMura was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1988.
And he left quite an impression on his famous co-star.
“How can this be? I just received the shocking and deeply saddening news that wonderful Mark LaMura has passed away,” wrote Lucci as a caption to the following image.
She added:
“Mark played my brother Mark on All My Children–he was such a talented and accomplished actor/ a bright and charming presence in all our AMC lives–and a really great guy.
“Mark was loved and he will be missed! RIP, my friend.”
Along with his well known gig on All My Children, LaMura also appeared on the following shows:
- Star Trek: The Next Generation
- L.A. Law
- One Life to Live
- The Sopranos
- 30 Rock
- Law & Order: SVU
- Damages
In a 2012 interview with We Love Soaps, La Mura said that acting on daytime television “was like being able to play all 88 keys on a piano and only being allowed to plunk out the same eight every day.
“To be fair; the writers have to write an hours’ worth of story every day. The director has to shoot it, the actors have learn ‘all them words’ the night before.”
Did he love it, however?
“Love? No,” he said at the time. “Thanks for the dough. It was a heavy-like affair.”
Gotta appreciate that honesty, don’t you?
Over the years, La Mura also appeared in many theatrical productions, Shakespearean plays and The Rise Of Dorothy Hale.
He portrayed Oscar Madison in the 2013 revival production of The Odd Couple alongside Jeff Talbott as Felix Ungar.

Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan Welcome Daughter With Heartwarming Letter
Mark Zuckerberg is something of a divisive figure these days.
Sure, he founded a service that mostof us use every day, and he says he’s committed to making the world a better place, but at the same time, there are many who believe he’s more responsible than anyone else for the proliferation of “fake news” that loomed so large over the 2016 election.
Plus, we’re sick of getting notifications every time someone on our friends list “goes live” to show off their new haircut, ya know.
Anyway, the Zuck seems like an okay guy who’s probably a bit over his head of arguably the world’s most important media outlet, but that’s a conversation for another time.
Today, all we have to say to Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan is congratulations on bringing another billionaire baby into the world!
Yes, Zuckerberg announced yesterday on Facebook (natch) that he and wife Priscilla Chan had welcomed a baby girl named August.
She’s the second child for the couple who welcomed daughter Max in 2015.
As he did when Max was born, Zuckerberg penned a moving open letter to his baby girl:
“Welcome to the world! Your mom and I are so excited to see who you will become,” he began.
Zuckerberg then referenced the viral letter that he wrote to Max, before revealing that he’d like to take a slightly different tone this time around.
When your sister was born, we wrote a letter about the world we hoped she and now you will grow up in — a world with better education, fewer diseases, stronger communities, and greater equality … We’re optimists about your generation and the future, the billionaire CEO wrote.
Zuckerberg concludes with an ode to the magic of child that’s sure bring a tear to any parent’s eye:
“You will be busy when you’re older, so I hope you take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp.
“I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you’ve tamed every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want.
“And then I hope you take a lot of naps. I hope you’re a great sleeper. And I hope even in your dreams you can feel how much we love you.
“Childhood is magical. You only get to be a child once, so don’t spend it worrying too much about the future. You’ve got us for that, and we’ll do everything we possibly can to make sure the world is a better place for you and all children in your generation.”
Not only is it a powerful message of love from a devoted parent, it’s also a potent reminder that not every Facebook post has to be about politics, people, damn!
We hope Mayweather and McGregor fight again just so we can have another one hour break from Trump talk in our timeline.
Make it happen, you two!
It’s a step toward redeeming yourselves for lifetimes of douche-baggery.

Big Brother Recap: Did Mark Flip The House?!?
Heading into the latest episode of Big Brother, Mark’s fate was up in the air.
You would think that being on the block against Matt would make the other houseguests want to get rid of Matt. Strategically, Mark has nobody in the house, so it would make perfect sense to keep him in as a target.
When the episode gets underway, Mark speaks with Jason about the possibility of keeping him in the game. Jason notes that it would be down to Alex and Paul.
Jason then lets Alex in on what Mark was saying, but Alex says that Jason has outed their final three deal with Paul in the process. Alex hits him because it gives their alliance away.
Despite wanting Mark out of the house, Christmas and Josh spoke about respecting his game, but that he just aligned with the wrong people.
Jason’s farm then makes a rare appearance on the series, and his wife speaks about his relationship with Alex. She thinks it’s healthy and that she’s keeping him grounded while inside the house.
When it comes to the live vote and eviction, there was a curveball thrown in for good measure.

- Josh votes to evict: Mark
- Kevin votes to evict: Mark
- Jason votes to evict: Matthew
- Alex votes to evict: Matthew
- Paul votes to evict: Mark
Mark is evicted by a 4-2 vote, and the look on Raven’s face confirms that she is shocked by the two hinky votes.
Mark says goodbye to the houseguests and notes that he will see them all on the other side. Is this the classiest eviction, like, ever?
In his eviction interview, Mark reveals that his game play was horrible. When you’re in a house with a bunch of people who just want to make it to the jury, Mark is actually a better player than most of them.
He tried a lot to secure his safety this week, and that was not a bad thing.
The good thing about Mark’s eviction is that it means the other houseguests are about to turn on each other in order to get to the end.
With the majority alliance now down to their own, it’s going to be interesting to watch.
