Tony Perkins Doesn"t Think God Creates Natural Disasters to Punish Gay People Anymore

As we all know by now, irony is rain on your wedding day.

It is also 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.

But it’s ALSO this:

In 2015, the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins spoke with a Messianic Jewish pastor named Jonathan Cahn.

The latter had previously implied that that Hurricane Joaquin, which caused endless damage t the Bahamas, was a “sign of God’s wrath” against abortion and the Supreme Court’s ruling that legalized same-sex marriage.

Perkins concurred, saying last year that while “those on the Left like to mock these things,” there’s no doubt about how “God is trying to send us a message.”

He went on to echo Cahn’s sentiments regarding U.S. leaders having “crossed a gigantic line” and “overruled the word of God massively” when they “legalized the killing of the unborn in 1973 and now we have the striking down of marriage.”

These comments were made in October of 2015.

Fast forward less than one year to the devastation in Louisiana at the moment, as extreme flooding has leveled thousands of homes in the state.

Perkins said on Tuesday that he and his family had to escape their house in a canoe over the weekend due to this natural disaster.

“This is a flood of, I would have to say, near-biblical proportions,” Perkins said on his “Washington Watch” radio show, adding:

“This is unlike anything we’ve seen before… It’s a matter of picking up the pieces.”

It’s an awful tragedy, one affecting a region that is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

Perkins said he and his family will residence in a trailer for six months while their home is under repair.

He’s fortunate to even have that option, as countless people have nowhere to go right now.

This time around, however, Perkins didn’t tie the recent flooding to divine intervention

He referred to the flooding as tool for inspiration, not revenge, changing his tune around because he was actually affected by this disaster.

He said these floods had been sent as an “incredible, encouraging spiritual exercise to take you to the next level in your walk with an almighty and gracious God who does all things well.”

In a 2014, however, on another “Washington Watch” broadcast, Perkins reacted to Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission unanimously upholding a judge’s finding that a baker unlawfully discriminated against gay customers… by using a Holocaust metaphor.

“I’m beginning to think, are re-education camps next?” he said on air.

“When are they going to start rolling out the boxcars to start hauling off Christians?”

In other words: Perkins likely thinks these floods are a “spiritual exercise to take you to the next level in your walk with an almighty and gracious God who does all things well.”

Unless you’re gay. In which case he still thinks they are an act of revenge.

Tony Robbins Fans Walk on Hot Coals, Unsurprisingly Get Burned

For years, motivational speaker Tony Robbins has made a killing by telling followers to "Unleash the Power Within," but they"re really burned up over his teachings now.

Like, literally.

The author and self-help guru reportedly had fans walk over a blanket of hot coals during a seminar in Dallas, encouraging them to, ya know, conquer their fears.

To the surprise of no sane individual, more than 30 participants were treated for burns to their feet and legs, with five requiring hospitalization.

I"m certain there are far safer fear-conquering activities that could"ve worked just as well, but nothing brings out your inner carnie like hot coal-stepping.

Amazingly, Robbins" people have defended the coal walk, claiming that more than 7,000 people performed the feat but only five had to be rushed to the hospital.

Call me crazy, but I think that"s five too many.

"I know it might not look that way, but this was actually another successful fire walk," Robbins" head trainer Chad Schinke told reporters.

"We had over 7,000 people that walked across the hot coals and we always have a few people that have some discomfort afterwards," he added.

"Discomfort" he calls it. Dude.

"We do our best to take care of them and ensure that they get whatever help that they feel like they need."

"Help that they feel like they need?" This guy"s a tool.

Funnily enough, with every cult there are always folks drunk on Kool-Aid who refuse to fault the ringleader.

"I"m just shocked, I"m out of words," said one participant. "I"ve never seen this in all of my events and I have to just say it has nothing to do with the training."

"It has absolutely nothing to do with Tony Robbins," she added.

YES IT DOES, LADY.

Do we have to point out the obvious? It was his event, he suggested the ridiculous exercise and he surely knew of the dangers because even my frigging cat knows better than to do something so asinine.

The god complex, people. It"s a scary, scary thing.

Meg Ryan Presents at Tony Awards, Internet Reacts in Mean Horror

Meg Ryan appeared at the 2016 Tony Awards on Sunday night, introducing the cast of “She Loves Me” for a performance on stage.

It was the actress’ first foray into the spotlight in quite some time… and we won’t blame Ryan if it also marks her last one for awhile.

The 54-year old has taken somewhat of a hiatus from the entertainment industry, with some speculating that she has undergone plastic surgery.

And this rumor only grew louder after her Tony Awards cameo, which many on the Internet reacted to with what examples of why the Internet can often suck so very much.

Especially for women.

“I’m old enough to remember when Meg Ryan looked like Meg Ryan,” wrote a Twitter user with the handle @Noonz.

“Dear God…. What happened to Meg Ryan?” @RonnieTalbott asked.

Then there was this:

Joker/Ryan

Speaking to Porter Magazine, Ryan touched on the plastic surgery rumors last year, telling the publication at the time:

“I don’t pay a lot of attention frankly. There’s a lot of hatred in the world today; it’s so easy to judge. Imagine being a hater, how stupid!

“My women friends are not sitting around talking about … well, sometimes there are conversations like that, but the people I value talk about kids growing up, what kind of world they are going into, what we are eating, what we are breathing.”

Renee Zellweger was faced with this same sort of Internet backlash in 2014.

Now 47 years old, the actress responded perfectly at the time, saying simply:

“Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older?”

Seriously, know your role, Internet. Or… improve on your roll.

There’s some kind of irony in people being this mean to someone they don’t know on a night where Lin-Manuel Miranda preached that “love is love is love is love.”

Here. Watch his acceptance speech again. Take notes, critics.

Tony Awards: 12 Moments to Remember in 2016

The 2016 Tony Awards took place in the tragic shadow of an inexplicable shooting in Orlando.

As previously reported, 50 people were killed inside a gay nightclub by Omar Mateen, a terrorist responsible for the biggest gun-based massacre in U.S. history.

Host James Corden acknowledged the heinous act prior to the event, as did a number of winners and presenters.

But the show did have to go on, with its participants hoping to lift the spirits of viewers and provide a few examples of light after such a dark, dark incident.

Let"s take a look at the most memorable moments from the event…

1. Host with the Most

Host with the most

Corden struck the perfect tone in his monologue… and then opened the Tonys with a dance number that referenced Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd and pretty much everything in between.

2. A Sonnet for the Shooters

Upon accepting his first award of many for Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda delivered an original sonnet that honored his wife and then the victims of this shooting.

3. The Book of Moron

Andrew Rannells as Donald Trump. What else is there to say, right? Talk about a perfect parody.

4. Give Them an A!

A dozen young musical prodigies took to the stage for the first performance of the night, which honored the source material of the 2003 Jack Black film School of Rock. Show star Alex Brightman was incredible.

5. Winners!

We all knew Miranda would win. We all knew Hamilton would win. But we stood up and cheered when Renee Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs also took home trophies for their role in this iconic musical.

6. Father Knows Best

Father knows best

Yup, those are Corden’s parents. And, yes, the comedian’s dad really did tell his son on air that the show was “running a little long.” HA!

“You’re not on your own. Your tragedy is our tragedy. Hate will never win. We have to make sure of that. Tonight’s show stands as a symbol of that principle.”

Michael Weatherly Exits NCIS: How Did Tony Say Goodbye?

Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has left the building.

Going into NCIS Season 13 Episode 24, fans of television’s highest-rated series know that Michael Weatherly would be saying goodbye.

They just had no idea how Tony would be written out.

No way he’d be killed off, right?

Right. But that doesn’t mean death didn’t play a key role on the NCIS Season 13 finale.

The major event that led to Tony’s departure was the discovery that Ziva was killed in a bombing at her farmhouse in Israel.

“Life rarely ends the way we imagine,” Ducky said as the rest of the NCIS team mourned their former colleague back at the office.

From there, though, Tony was in for another surprise: Ziva had a daughter named Tali, who was hand-delivered to the U.S. by Israel officials. Because Tony is her father.

With advice from his father in hand (Robert Wagner reprised the role and told his son to take some time for an emotional breather), Tony told Gibbs that he had to resign his post.

“I’m everything to that little girl now,” DiNozzo his boss. “And I’ve never been anybody’s everything before.”

This led to a number of emotional goodbyes with his colleagues, from McGree to Bishop to Abby, the latter of whom told Tony:

“I know how much Ziva really loved you. I know. She told me.”

Then there was the big farewell. It took place in Gibbs’ basement.

“That’s it,” Tony said. “I’m done now.”

To which Gibbs replied: “You gotta do whatcha gotta do.”

A rare hug followed… and it just happened to get very dusty in our living room around this same time.

What did you think of Tony’s goodbye? What it everything you could have hoped for? Can you believe Ziva is dead?!?

Go ahead and watch NCIS online via the above video if you need to catch up and then sound off. What an emotional hour of television!

Tony Dyson Dies; Star Wars Special Effects Guru Was 68

Tony Dyson – the designer and technician best known for building the original R2-D2 robot used in the first Star Wars film – has passed away at the age of 68.

Tony Dyson

According to TMZ, Dyson recently attended a convention in Holland, then promptly flew back to his home in Malta, where he seems to have died in his sleep.

His girlfriend contacted police after several failed attempts to reach Dyson.

In addition to his work on Star Wars, Dyson designed robotics and effects for several other films, including Superman II, Moonraker and Dragonslayer.

Dyson was the owner of the White Horse Toy Company and he built robots for several of the world’s largest toy and theme park companies, including Disney, Sony, and Toshiba.

He won an Emmy for his work and spent the last years of his life working as a professor, teaching the art and science of robotics to a new generation.

But of course, it’s the beloved R2-D2 for which Dyson remains best known.

Working from a design from Ralph McQuarrie, Dyson built four remote control units – two to serve as high-tech costumes for actor Kenny Baker, and two throw-away versions to be used in the famous scene in which the droid is spit out of a swamp.

Baker described his work on the film as “one of the most exciting periods of my life.”

No cause of death has been determined, and though police have ruled out foul play, an autopsy will be conducted this week.

Tony Burton Dies; Rocky Star Was 78

Tony Burton – the former boxer and actor best known for playing Apollo Creed’s trainer in the Rocky franchise – has passed away at the age of 78.

Burton was one of only a few actors to appear in the first six Rocky films, beginning with the original in 1976 and continuing through Rocky Balboa in 2006.

Sadly, by the time last year’s Creed was released, Burton was too ill to see the film.

His death was confirmed last night by co-star Carl Weathers, who tweeted, “RIP Tony Burton. Intensity and talent helped make the Rocky movie successful #BePeace.”

Burton’s life was an underdog worthy of the films that made him famous.

After his boxing career came to an end in the late ’50s, Burton wound up doing three and a half years behind bars for robbery.

It was there that he fell in love with acting, thanks to a prison workshop that taught drama as a form of therapy.

Burton eventually appeared in more than two dozen films, including The Shining, Stir Crazy, and Hook.

He was also a skilled chess player, and defeated Stanley Kubrick – a known chess obsessive throughout his life – on the set of The Shining.

He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Rae.

Brittany Burns, Fiancee of Buffalo Bills Player Tony Steward, Dies of Cancer

Buffalo Bills player Tony Steward revealed on Tuesday that his fiancee, Brittany Burns has died after battling cancer at the age of 26.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the linebacker paid tribute to his bride-to-be, a former star on the Clemson University rowing team.

“Brittany Ann Steward! Wow BEAUTIFUL is the only way I know you. You have the biggest heart I have ever seen in my entire life.”

While Brittany may be gone from this world, “I promise you that it will live on in me, our family and every single soul you have touched.”

“You are the strongest and most loving soul to step foot in this world,” Tony wrote to his late partner, in touching fashion.

“You have been my rock, my motivation, my heart, my soulmate, my everything since the day I laid eyes on you.”

“Every single day of your life you have been a fighter and I know this because of the unbelievable family you brought me into.”

“We will all honor everything you stand for in life. I will continue to be the person that you always bring out in me.”

“Believe me when I say that I deeply love you with every ounce of everything in me. Love always, Your Fiancé #fightinglikeagirl #fightlikebritt”

According to media reports from Upstate New York, Burns was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer on December 9.

The couple got engaged in December, which they documented on social media, shortly after Burns was diagnosed with cancer.

Following Burns’ diagnosis, the adorable couple started a fundraiser called “Britt and Tony’s Fight Like a Girl Campaign.”

In an effort to help “other women who are battling ovarian cancer,” they had raised thousands of dollars by the time of her passing.

A press release from the Bills, Tony’s employer, also offered the professional football team’s condolences earlier today.

The team remembered Burns as “an active member in the community through the Buffalo Bills Women’s Association.”
