The Walking Dead Casts Iconic Comic Book Villain

The Walking Dead has found an actor to come on board in the iconic role of Negan.

And it’s a face with which television fans are very familiar.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan – who rose to small screen prominence as Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy and also as John Winchester on Supernaturual – has been cast as the villainous character made famous in the Robert Kirkman comic book series.

He will guest star on The Walking Dead Season 6 finale and then be upgraded to series regular status on The Walking Dead Season 7, which has already been ordered by AMC.

According to the comics on which this smash hit is based, Negan is the leader of the Saviors, a ruthless group of survivors.

He actually kills Glenn with his barbed wire-covered baseball bat (named Lucille), which is an interesting note because viewers are currently wondering whether Glenn is already dead, following his fall into a pit of Walkers two weeks ago.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Matt Dillon and Timothy Olyphant were also under consideration for the role.

Morgan, meanwhile, is currently stealing every single scene on The Good Wife Season 7.

He’s been sizzling up that CBS drama as private investigator Jason Crause, though this AMC booking means he’s unlikely to return for Season 8.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 5 Recap: Fight or Die

Following that massive attacks by The Wolves, morale plummeted to an all-time low in Alexandria on The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 5.

It didn’t help that Rick ran up to the gate with half of this herd on his trail, but he gave his fellow residents a pep talk once he was safely inside.

Can you hold together, he asked them? We can defeat them together!

With Deanna wandering around half-dazed and Aaron being eaten alive by his guilty conscience and some of the survivors even raiding the pantry for their last mean before Spencer stopped them… it certainly appeared as if this would be it.

But then Rosita inspired Spencer by thanking him for taking out the Wolf who’d attempted to drive a trick into the community.

And Deanna fought back against a zombified Wolf, telling Rick she wants to live and that he ought to take over Alexandria as leader.

Meanwhile, Jessie made like Rick, giving a speech to her neighbors after she got caught dispatching a fellow resident who had been turned.

“If we don’t fight, we die,” she explained.

Toward the end of the episode, Jessie made it clear to Rick that she does see a future. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t need the occasional reassurance.

And then they kissed. A lot!

Elsewhere, Tara lied about her head hiring in order to check on Denise, who she discovered despairing over a patient that she was sure would die, oblivious to the Walkers outside the gates as a result.

Tara praised her bravery… Denise was inspired to save the patient… and then she found Tara for a little makeout session of their own!

Finally, upon realizing Maggie was planning to sneak over the wall to find Glenn, Aaron insisted going with her.

Unfortunately, these two only made it to the far end of the pipe before realizing that they were still awfully close to the half-herd.

Aaron wanted to take out some Walkers along the way, but Maggie told him why she was hesitant to take this route: Because she’s pregnant.

However, although she wouldn’t risk the child’s life by going after Glenn, she also refused to give up on him.

Therefore,, after she and Aaron made their way back, they erased Glenn’s name from the memory wall. Should we be holding out hope for him?

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 4 Recap: Peace Be with Him

With viewers of television’s highest-rated show dying to know about the fate of Glenn on The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 4, this AMC smash turned the focus on a different character Sunday night.

And it somehow managed to make us fall in love with Morgan.

After we open with Morgan telling one of the Wolves that he’s gonna give them everything he has, we flash back to a time when Morgan was playing with less than a full deck, “clearing” the woods by killing both walkers and humans.

We even see him turn down a cabin owner’s offer of falafel, ending up knocked out and apprehended in a cell as a result.

Upon waking up, Morgan finds food, soap and water.

Asked his name by the cabin owner (Eastman), Morgan replied “kill me,” to which Eastman simply made a joke, gave Morgan a copy of The Art of Peace and asked him to be nice to his pet goat, Tabitha.

Eastman then tries to get through to his reluctant guest by opening up about his past, telling Morgan he worked as a forensic psychiatrist prior to the zombie apocalypse.

After figuring that Morgan was suffering from PTSD, Eastman revealed that the door to the cell wasn’t actually locked. It never had been.

Morgan could stay or leave… or choose Option C, apparently: try to kill his captor. But he just got beat up for this effort instead.

Later on, Eastman again opened up about his his daughter once found him crying (over the terrible things the convicts he evaluated for a living had done).

She gave him a rabbit’s foot for luck… he found a flyer for an aikido class… and it changed his life.

He’s not afraid to use force, but he never kills.

Perhaps this honesty and these lessons off, as Eastman went out scavenging, only for viewers to see see that Morgan had opened up the book and also saved the goat from walkers.

Following this adventure, Eastman presented Morgan with a “fixed” spear. It had the sharp tip cut off. He also started to teach him aikido and also to teach him about how “life is precious.” ALL life, that is.

So… what’s the deal with the cell, Morgan asked? It had been built for a prisoner who killed Eastman’s wife and children. Did Eastman kill him in return? He avoided Morgan’s question.

From there, Morgan led Eastman to his former campsite to grab his gear. They were attacked by a walker, who bit Eastman. Freaking out, Morgan then attacked his new friends, got knocked down and returned to saying “kill me.”

Morgan refused to go home with Eastman, sharpening a new stick and going back to his ways as a feral animal in the woods.

Finally, Morgan saved a couple, got some sense back in him, went over to Eastman and learned that Tabitha had been killed by a walker.

In helping to bury the goat, he also learned that Eastman had, indeed, killed the guy who murdered his family, though it did not being him “peace.”

As this hour concluded, we returned to the present. We see that Morgan has been telling his tale to the Wolf who jumped him a few weeks back.

The Wolf threatens to kill Morgan, and everyone else in Alexandria, but Morgan heeds Eastman’s advice and lets him live, leaving him simply tied up, not put down.

Why do we feel like we may end up regretting this decision?

The Walking Dead Season 7: On the Way!

AMC has arrived a very difficult decision:

The cable network will NOT kill off The Walking Dead.

We kid, of course. The Walking Dead is the highest rated show on all of television among the advertiser-friendly demographic of 18-34-year olds.

AMC might as well have just renewed it through Season 29 at this point.

Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, also said via press release that he has renewed Talking Dead, the highly-rated after-show hosted by Chris Hardwick.

“Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead.

“All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged.

“We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible.

“The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray.”

The Walking Dead Season 6 possibly killed a major character last week.

Is he really, truly done?

Man Kills Friend Before He Can Become Zombie, Blames Binge-Watching The Walking Dead

A man who had been watching The Walking Dead reportedly confessed to authorities that he fatally beat his friend before he could become a zombie.

That 23-year-old victim, New Mexico resident Christopher Paquin, was allegedly killed by Damon Perry, also 23 and now being held on a murder charge.

According to media reports, local police officers were called Thursday afternoon to an apartment complex where Perry was allegedly wielding a knife.

They found Paquin’s body inside an apartment unit within the complex and maintenance workers detaining Perry, who admitted he had been drinking.

Perry said Paquin began “to change into a zombie” and tried to bite him, at which point Perry took matters into his own hands … and beyond hands.

He beat Paquin with his hands, feet, an electric guitar and a microwave.

Authorities say Perry attributed his actions to binge-watching The Walking Dead, the hit AMC series which centers on a zombie apocalypse, on Netflix.

All this serves as a cautionary tale that one should likely not watch The Walking Dead online if one is unable to discern fact from fictional TV programs.

Just a little PSA for you right there.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 3 Recap: Wait... WHO Died?!?

On The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 3, we learned that Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Michonne, Abraham, Sasha, Nicholas and Heath were up to while Carol was fighting off wolves in Alexandria.

We also learned which one of these favorites did not make it home in the end.

GULP! And also: SOB!

We opened the intense hour with Rick discussing a new plan for the aforementioned survivors, along with a few other residents.

They would go home and he would go back to the RV, leading away half of the herd being drawn to the horn in the process.

Rick then spoke only to Glenn and Michonne, explaining to them that some of the Alexandrians would likely die, a prediction overheard by Heath.

Once Rick had left for his part of the mission, he spent most of the rest of the episode running… and running some more, taking out the occasional walker along the way while checking in with his crew via walkie talkie.

Meanwhile, Glenn, Michonne and the others went toe-to-toe with a bunch of walkers.

The Alexandrians were a mixed bag when it came to fighting, though no one fared worse than Sturgess, who actually shot a neighbor in the led by accident by running off into the woods.

Nicholas later found Sturgess’ remains.

This group eventually hit in a pet store in order to patch up the gunshot victim’s leg, with Glenn coming up with a plan to prevent the oncoming herd from making to Alexandria: he would set a building on fire as a distraction.

Aiming to help redeem Nicholas, Glenn invited him to do the fiery deed to a nearby feed store with him.

Once this pair left, Heath talked trash to Michonne about how they do not “leave people behind.”

This led to some back-and-forth between Michonne and Heath, as they argued about their past experiences and the sacrifices they had to make at times.

Unfortunately, Heath learned what Michonne meant in the end because the group made a run for it in the face of a walker attack… and Heath was the one to say they had to leave a newlywed resident behind in order for the rest to survive.

Things weren’t going much better for Glenn and Nicholas, who discovered that the feed store had already burned to the ground. Pondering what to do next, they ended up trapped by endless walkers atop a dumpster.

Unable to handle the pressure, Nicholas thanked Glenn… and then shot himself in the head. He accidentally took Glenn down with him into a sea of walkers… and yeah. Glenn was devoured by the enemy.

To close this painful episode, Rick arrived at the RV and was jumped by two wolves. One of them had a jar of Judith’s baby food on him. Rick was left to shoot down several other wolves, yet was finally able to lead the herd away… except the stupid RV wouldn’t start!

So, as we mourned Glenn and were left shaking our heads over his death, we were also left wondering about Rick when the hour cut to black and he was surrounded by wolves.

Yikes. Go ahead and watch The Walking Dead online in order to relive all this sad and violent chaos.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 2 Recap: Big Bad Wolves

We learned early on during The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 2 just for whom the horn tolled at the end of last week’s premiere:

Wolves.

Rick’s plans to clear Alexandria of endless walkers last Sunday was interrupted by the arrival of a herd of terrifying maniacs, all of whom had the letter W carved into their foreheads.

The hour actually opened with a flashback to the day a car breakdown led to Enid’s parents being killed by zombies.

Following this incident, a teenage Enid wandered through the woods, eating anything she could find and writing “JSS” everywhere possible. For what reason? Keep reading…

From here, we returned to present day, with Alexandria residents going about their regular routines.

But this idyllic afternoon was ruined by the wolves, who were both inside the gates and outside the gates, prompting Carol to go into full Badass Mode.

While Carol was making sure the newly dead did not turn, Jessie jumped out to protect her family, using her haircutting scissors to stab a wolf very much dead.

Spencer, meanwhile, took out a wolf with his rifle. The villain proceeded to fall on the horn, which is what we heard to wrap up The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere.

With Alexandria turning into a war zone, Denise needed a pep talk from Tara and Eugene to snap into medical action, although she failed to save her first patient.

Amidst all this chaos, Enid stopped by to say goodbye to Carl. Before slipping away, she left him a note that read Just Survive Somehow. And there it is: JSS!

Elsewhere: Morgan tried to reason and plead with a wolf, asking him nicely to leave. But Carol intervened and shot the guy, disagreeing violently with Morgan’s pacifist philosophy.

Later on, Morgan was surrounded… but he still chose not to kill any wolves.

Instead, he scared them away by claiming they were surrounded by survivors with gun, telling one of his attacks from the episode “Conquer” if “you keep choosing this life, you will die,” to which his old foe replied:

“We didn’t choose.”

At the conclusion of a VERY bloody hour, Carol nearly smoked one of her late neighbor’s cigarettes out of exhaustion and sadness… Aaron found his old backpack (with photos of Alexandria inside) on one of the felled walkers… and Morgan was once again faced with his ex-adversary, this time having no choice but to kill him.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 1 Recap: Worst Laid Plans

It’s safe to say Rick’s plan to keep walkers out of Alexandria went badly on The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 1.

Very badly. Terribly badly. Like, as badly as any plan could ever go. Ever.

The premiere of The Walking Dead Season 6 picked up with Deanna telling Gabriel he had been wrong about Rick.

Also, we saw Eugene being thrilled to see Tara… Enid holding Carl’s hand… Glenn lying about how and and Nicholas had been wounded in the woods… and Rick and Morgan committed to getting to know each other again.

As they were debating what to do with Pete’s body, these two discovered a bunch of walkers and were forced to save Ron, who had followed them to learn where his dad was buried.

Rick then proceeded to dig a grave, considering Pete’s son had seen and heard everything.

In Alexandria, Rick devised a plan to free the walkers they just trapped and lead them away from the city. Enter Carter, a local portrayed by Ethan Embry, who argued they should just build a wall around the community instead.

Deanna shot this idea down, leading Rick Abraham, Sasha, Daryl, Glenn and Nicholas to head off on Operation Free the Walkers.

Elsewhere, Tara was stunned to learn from Maggie that Nicholas had gotten Noah killed AND tried to murder Glenn. Why wasn’t Maggie pushing for exile?

Because she has grown close to Tara despite Tara’s history with The Governor, so there’s hope for anyone.

Eugene, meanwhile, was caught listening in to Carter talking other residents into actually killing Rick so they could reclaim their community. The organizer of this planned homicide was about to shoot Eugene when Rick, Daryl and Morgan walked; the former wrestling the gun away from Carter and aiming it at his head.

Morgan wasn’t a fan of this threat, though Rick did win some favor with him when he offered to let Morgan hold Judith and also invited him to move in with his family.

On to Rick’s plan: during a dry run, the walkers pushed a semi off a cliff, which prompted the survivors to just go ahead and act.

It was all going okay, too, until Carter got bitten in the face and Rick had to BREAK HIS NECK (in front of Morgan and Michonne) to ensure the victim’s screams draw the walkers away from the path everyone had worked to send them down.

Morgan and Michonne reluctantly followed Rick’s orders after this kill, making it look as if everything would end well… until a horn blared, drawing the walkers toward the sound – and we saw the sound was coming from Alexandria.

WTH?!?

Fear The Walking Dead Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: Losing Patients

Desperate times call for… you know the rest, right?

This saying was most definitely driven home on Fear The Walking Dead Season 1 Episode 5. Hard.

Early on during the hour, Ofelia lured was under the impression that her dad wanted to trade Reynolds for Nick and Grisela. So she lured the solider into a trap.

But, in reality, the barber intended to use his handy torture skills to draw information out of his daughter’s boyfriend.

Upon discovering just how bloody things had become, Maddie shed all emotion and asked a simple question: “Did he tell us what we need to know?”

Ofelia, though, didn’t react nearly so well.

As for what Daniel learned? “Cobalt” was code to initiate the evacuation of enlisted men from the Los Angeles basin the following morning. What about the civilians? They were marked for “humane termination.” GULP.

Elsewhere: Moyers scoffed at he referred to as Travis’ “issues with protocol.”

That is, until the Mayor threatened to start a revolt in the neighborhood if he wasn’t taken to Exner to check on Nick and Griselda.

But they never made it to the doctor’s makeshift hospital.

After Moyers challenged Travis to kill a walker – which he couldn’t bring himself to do, of course – the commanding officer was lost to a building chock full of the infected… and his platoon dropped Travis near his hood before making tracks to find their own families.

Let’s go inside Exner’s ER/lock-up combo, shall we?

We witness Nick being taken “downstairs” there when his well-dressed cellmate suddenly trades a soldier a pair of diamond cufflinks to keep him around. For what purpose?

Because the soldiers are departing – and when he makes a break for it, he’ll need a “man with [Nick’s] talents.”

Later, after Liza sneaks in to see Grisela, Exner explains that she has to be shot in the head, or else, like everyone who passed away, she’d come back. So Liza pulls the trigger herself.

Finally, Travis gets back home, he’s horrified to discover what Daniel had done – and even more horrified that Maddie was totes down with it.

But Reynolds did provide some useful information.

Not only had he rundown the deadly meaning of Cobalt… he told Daniel about a nearby arena that is teeming with the infected.

As the penultimate hour of Fear the Walking Dead Season 1 came to a conclusion, it certainly appeared as if the barber was considering turning the zombies loose on the soldiers.

Is this how the finale will play out?

Sound off below with your thoughts and go watch Fear The Walking Dead online prior to next Sunday’s season-ender.

Buffy"s Nicholas Brendon Responds To Walking Off Dr. Phil — See His Words About Being Molested As A Child & Being Blindsided On The Show!

Talk about a tough time.

Nicholas Brendon, former star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has had quite a few problems with drugs, alcohol, and arrests in the past.

This year alone, he’s been arrested 3 times and entered rehab twice this year, which is why he sought help from Dr. Phil and went on his show.

Related: Married To Medicine Star Ordered To Rehab After Allegedly Attacking Husband!

However, his appearance didn’t quite go as planned as he ended up walking off of the show which aired yesterday. The Buffy star was very unhappy with his treatment during the taping of the show and stormed off after Dr. Phil questioned him about his current sobriety.

Brendon was particularly unhappy with the way he claims Dr. Phil talked about his mother specifically speaking on how she didn’t put Brendon in therapy after he was sexually abused as a kid.

Since the show aired, the actor took to Facebook to explain his reasoning and give insight into his frustration. In a lengthy explanation he posted:

“Dr. Phil had some hard words for my mother, who I love dearly and who I have caused more heartache than I care to remember. When I was molested as a child, it was 1982. Therapy wasn’t talked about and accepted the way it is today… Going to therapy in 1982 would be similar to getting a divorce in 1950. It wasn’t done, and if it was, it wasn’t supported by those around you. There certainly were not the kind of resources that fortunately exist for abused children today.”

Nicholas went on to say:

“My mother regrets this deeply, and it hurt me that Dr. Phil took her to task for not forcing me into treatment at the time.”

As for Dr. Phil‘s response to the 44-year-old’s behavior, a rep for the show said shortly after the taping:

“There was no drama, he simply chose to leave and did so in a respectful manner. His family and associates remained and participated fully and productively. Dr. Phil has nothing but the highest respect for Nicholas and wishes him the best in his quest for physical/mental health and sobriety, and stands ready to assist him in any way possible.”

We don’t know if there was more to it, but we hope that Brendon has since cooled down and hopefully is finding the help he needs.

What do you think? Based on Nicholas’ response, did he have a right to get upset or was he acting too defensive?

Fear the Walking Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: Not Very Neighborly

We opened Fear the Walking Season 1 Episode 3 with Travis telling Ofelia that looters would never break into her dad’s barber shop.

For what purpose, he figured? Comb thievery?!?

But once the fire got out of control, this group of hopeful survivors was forced to move nonetheless. When scaffolding fell on Griselda, Travis carried her to his trick and then to the hospital.

Upon seeing the insane scene there, Daniel suggested they go to his house and then, he reasoned, “we will be even.”

Meanwhile, over at Maddie’s, Nick tried to convince his mom that Travis would not be coming back.

Sensing that the need for protection was now stronger than ever, Maddie, Nick and Alicia snuck into the home of their missing neighbors (Patrick and Susan) to borrow a rifle that the junkie had once tried to steal.

This actually worked out quite well… until they spotted Mr. Dawson attacking a German Shepherd in their home!

After Travis arrived and Maddie raced through Susan’s garden to get him before Dawson could, Alicia doubled back for more ammunition. Only to get attached by a now-zombie Susan!

In the end, Daniel shot Mr. Dawson in the head, thereby saving Travis, while Alicia nearly broke Chris’ nose when he rode to her rescue.

From there, Travis announced that the two families (now blended into one) would NOT be hitting the road until the morning and Ofelia made a strong case to Daniel for going with them.

However, in spite of his wife’s injury, he told his daughter that “this is the wrong time to be in someone else’s debt.”

Nearby, Liza asked Maddie if, as parents, they could support one another during this trying time. Rather than just respond in the affirmative, Maddie actually told Travis’ ex to kill her if she became a zombie.

The next day, Travis convinced Maddie not to put Susan out of her misery.

She still ended up dead, however, because Patrick arrived home and, just as Susan was se to devour her husband, she was gunned down by soldiers.

When all settled down and a blood-spattered Patrick had been taken away by the army, Maddie – concerned that her family would be quarantined, too – lied to the authorities that none of them had been exposed

“The cavalry’s arrived,” Travis said, trying to reassure his mom. “It’s gonna get better now.”

But Daniel did not agree, telling everyone to conclude an intense hour: “It’s already too late.”
