Lee Reherman – the actor and athlete best known for his work as Hawk on American Gladiators – has passed away at the age of 49.
A rep for Reherman says his girlfriend discovered his body inside his Manhattan Beach, California this morning.
No cause of death has been determined, but Reherman had reportedly been complaining that he was not feeling well in the days leading up to his death.
A former football standout at Cornell University, Reherman attended the Miami Dolphins training camp after graduation, in hopes of earning a spot on the team’s offensive line.
He didn’t make the cut, but he did continue his education, eventually earning his MBA from UCLA. He was working on a PhD when Hollywood came calling.
Though most famous for the impressive athletic feats he performed on Gladiators each week, Reherman also racked dozens of acting credits over the course of his career.
In addition to his work in hit films and television shows like Columbo, Last Action Hero, The X Files, NCIS, and Jane The Virgin, Reherman also lent his voice to a number of popular video games, including Dead Rising 3 and the Ghost Recon series.
Law enforcement officials say there is no sign of foul play, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine Reherman’s cause of death.
