Virginia Man Gets Shot in Argument Over Aretha Franklin
The death of Aretha Franklin on Thursday morning has elicted an abundance of sorrow and sentimentaltity across the Internet.
For two men in Virginia, however, it led to an intense argument that only concluded when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the other.
Police told WTKR that the disagreement stemmed over whether or not Halle Berry had ever portrayed the legendary singer in a movie.
Serious stuff, as you can see, very much worthy of a firearm being used.
According to this same report, the argument eventually turned physical, with one half of the flap pulling out his weapon and firing it at least once.
The shooting victim is in serious condition, while both men were treated by paramedics at the scene of the altercation in Suffolk and then transported to a local hospital.
An investigation has been opened, but no charges have been filed just yet.
For the record, Franklin said in a 2011 interview that she would love for Berry to play her on the big screen in a biopic someday.
This is what the late artist said at the time:
She was my first choice, everything’s subject to negotiation, and she shouldn’t underestimate her own talent.
There are a number of other leading ladies out there that can definitely handle the role. I never expected Halle to sing. She’s an actress, not a singer.
Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-synching to the artists’ original recordings.
Berry, however, declined the honor because she did not think she could do the legendary role justice.
Many years later, in January of 2018, Franklin chose Oscar-winner and former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson to take on the role of… well… herself.
The movie, which was to be produced by Straight Outta Compton’s Scott Bernstein and Dreamgirls’ Harvey Mason Jr., was to be based on Franklin’s autobiography Aretha: From These Roots.
There is no plans for its production or release at the moment, though.
None of this is meant to imply that it’s worth yanking out a glock and shooting someone who misremembers this series of events.
We’re just giving our readers some background on how/why this argument got started in the first place.
The Queen of Soul, who passed away from pancreatic cancer, will be laid to rest in her hometown of Detroit.
There is not yet a scheduled date for the memorial, but Franklin will be lying in an open casket, according to a new report, with plenty of singers expected to perform.
And thousands of people expected to attend.
Tweeted Barack Obama upon learning of Franklin’s death:
“Aretha helped define the American experience. In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect.”
“May the Queen of Soul rest in eternal peace.”
In one of her most memorabe performances, Franklin made the ex-President tear up.

Shahs of Sunset Season 6 Episode 9 Recap: A Fiery Thanksgiving Argument
Thanksgiving is a time to come together as a family and put all the feuding aside.
But, on Shahs of Sunset Season 6 Episode 9, it seemed more like everyone wanted to bicker for the big occasion. For viewers, it was a solid episode, but it revealed that all of the big personalities on the show thrived on the drama.
When the episode got underway, GG and Adam went to the local sex shop to practice their technique for giving oral sex. The lady giving the masterclass could not contain her laughter when she told GG to listen to her partner breathing, and that will tell her if she’s doing it right.
Adam chimed in, saying: “She won’t hear. She’s half deaf.” Yes, it was one of the craziest openings, but it was still fun to watch and proved that when they’re not fighting with one another, they are kind of funny.
Mike met up with Asa at the grocery store to get prepared for Thanksgiving. Things got awkward real quick because Asa wanted to know why their group of friends were so annoyed with her.
Mike then felt the need to reveal that Reza told everyone the truth about the freezing of eggs, and it immediately made Asa mad. It would have been so much easier for Asa to have been straight up with MJ in the first place.
They could have gone through the treatment together. Asa had put Reza in a difficult situation, but all she could think about was the betrayal of all of it.
Asa wasted no time and asked Reza about it at the Thanksgiving meal, and he was brutally honest with her. He said that she put him in a difficult position and that he felt like he was lying to his friends.
They returned to the dinner table, but Reza noted in a confessional that he wanted to get up and leave because he felt like things were now awkward about the whole situation.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast made their way to Shervin’s for a meal, and Golnesa invited Leila because she thought it would make her family happy.
When Leila appeared, Golnesa gave a speech and Leila immediately went out for a cigarette before trashing her to Mike. Mike was not about to let Shervin’s party be ruined, so he called Leila out.
Leila then trashed Golnesa to people inside the house and said that she took eight days to thank her for picking her up from rehab. Yes, she was going low with her insults, but the sisters got along after their big fight.
Leila was not the only troublemaker at the party. MJ was intent on letting Annalise know the true extent of Shervin’s private life, and brought up the cheating rumors, but Annalise shut her down.
But, the teaser for next week makes it look like the cheating allegations will run rampant, so that should be fun. Reality TV thrives on cheating rumors, so we are totally in for this.
What do you think about all the drama?

Megyn Kelly DESTROYS Newt Gingrich in Argument Over Donald Trump, Sex
There have been many losers to come out of the 2016 Presidential Election.
Most specifically, Donald Trump and… well… anyone who continues to stand up for Donald Trump.
But there’s been one clear winner from the past several months of campaigning; and we’re not even talking about Hillary Clinton, no matter what is likely to transpire on November 8.
We’re talking about Megyn Kelly.
Kelly called Trump out on his misogyny from the very beginning.
All those people who acted shocked and appalled over what Trump said to Billy Bush in that notorious Access Hollywood video?
All those politicians who came out and castigated Trump for his demeaning words about women and his implied sexual assault?
Please. Literally, the very first question asked of Trump at a Republican Primary Debate was over the way he has treated women and talked about women in the past.
And that question was asked by Kelly.
From there, of course, Trump slammed Kelly at every turn, even questioning at one point whether or not she was on her period at the debate.
Really. He said that.
So this brings us to Tuesday night and Kelly having Newt Gingrich on her Fox News program as a guest.
The former Speaker of the House took issue with the way Kelly and other members of the media have been covering the campaign, arguing that too much time has been spent focusing on Trump’s sexual harassment allegations.
The tension-filled segment started with Kelly explaining why Trump is behind in the polls, citing that 2005 Access Hollywood tape and Trump lashing out at nearly every woman who has made allegations about him.
People have a right to hear those charges, she argues in the footage below.
“I’m sick and tired of people like you using language that’s inflammatory that’s not true!” Gingrich blew up, referring to the term sexual predator being applied to Trump.
“When you use the words, you took a position. And I think it’s very unfair of you to do that, Megyn!” Gingrich said.
To which Kelly calmly replied:
“Your defensiveness on this may speak volumes, sir.”
At one point, after Kelly acknowledged that Bill Clinton has an unsavory history with women and that her show has covered it in detail, Gingrich snapped as follows:
“You wanna go back through the tapes of your show recently? You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy!”
It’s worth watching the video above just to see Kelly’s priceless response to this accusation.
After Gingrich continued to sound like a little child, challenging Kelly to say the words “Bill Clinton sexual predator,” the host somehow kept her chill demeanor and ended the segment by politely saying:
“You can take your anger issues and spend some time working on them.”
It. Was. AWESOME!
Check out the clip above and weigh in:
Who do you think won this faceoff? Kelly or Gingrich?
Or, as has so often been the case throughout this election, are we all losers in the end?
