Jill Messick, Ex-Rose McGowan Manager, Kills Herself; Family Blames Media and Harvey Weinstein
Horrible news out of Hollywood this week:
Jill Messick, a former Miramax producer who once managed actress Rose McGowan, committed suicide suicide on Wednesday, her family has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
She was 50 years old.
This is terribly sad – but it may have gone largely unnoticed by the mainstream press if Messick’s family had not released a pointed statement in response to the tragedy.
Released by Messick’s loved ones to The Hollywood Reporter, the statement places the blame for this suicide on Harvey Weinstein… McGowan herself… and members of the press for how they covered the #MeToo movement.
Weinstein, of course, is the former head of Miramax who has been accused of sexual assault by dozens of women.
McGowan has claimed for years that she is one of these women, while she’s now a leading voice for the #MeToo movement, which seeks to empower victims of rape and misconduct.
Messick, meanwhile, represented McGowan in 1997, at the time she says she was raped by Weinstein.
The late producer/manager later took an executive position at Miramax, then led by Weinstein.
“Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact,” reads the emotional statement.
“She became collateral damage in an already horrific story.”
The full statement, which is available at The Hollywood Reporter, goes on to say that Messick was devastated after the film mogul’s attorney released an email in which Messick defended Weinstein.
“The speed of disseminating information has carried mistruths about Jill as a person, which she was unable and unwilling to challenge,” it says.
Messick’s relatives acknowledge that McGown told her about an incident with Weinstein…
… but they insist that Messick “stood up on Rose’s behalf” and “alerted her bosses to the horrific experience which Rose suffered.”
Continues the statement:
“She opted not to add to the feeding frenzy, allowing her name and her reputation to be sullied despite having done nothing wrong.
“She never chose to be a public figure; that choice was taken away from her.”
The family also mentions that Messick was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
After discussing with Messick and her management team what transpired with Weinstein, McGown is on record as saying she did not feel much support.
In their message to the public on Thursday, Messick’s loved ones criticized journalists for publishing the aforementioned correspondence between Messick and Weinstein.
“We must take a moment to consider the ramifications and consequences of what we say and what we do,” the family’s statement reads, concluding:
“Words matter. Someone’s life may depend on it.”
McGowan, for her part, has been on a mission to reveal the truth about Weinstein, the culture in Hollywood and everything else related to this ongoing sexual harassment scandal in entertainment.
It has thus far ended the careers of such A-Listers as Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K., among MANY others.
Weinstein’s attorney, Ben Brafman, previously responded to McGowan’s allegations in a statement to People Magazine that reads:
“Mr. Weinstein denies Rose McGowan’s allegations of non-consensual sexual contact and it is erroneous and irresponsible to conflate claims of inappropriate behavior and consensual sexual contact later regretted, with an untrue claim of rape.”
His spokesperson also has said that McGowan “chose to demand money” from the producer and worked and appeared with him later in her career.
On January 30, Weinstein’s lawyers released an email in which Messick said McGowan had told her she got into a hot tub with Weinstein “consensually” yet “regretted” it.
Her family here says the document was released without Messick’s consent.
“Harvey’s desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her. It broke Jill.”

Robert Valletta Blames Vanderpump Rules Cast For Scheana Marie Breakup: They"re Savages!
Long before Vanderpump Rules Season 6 debuted at the beginning of December, word got out that Scheana Marie and Robert Valletta had broken up after just a few weeks of dating.
It’s a strange situation for viewers, who are just now getting their first real insights into Rob’s character and personality, despite the fact that he has no real ties to the cast any longer.
Of course, it sounds like if Scheana gets her way, he’ll soon be welcomed back into the fold.
Yes, as you may have noticed if you caught Monday night’s episode, Scheana–to borrow a phrase coined by Tom Sandoval–is a bit “Rob-sessed.”
At one point, she openly discussed her desire to marry Valletta, even though they’d only been formally dating for a few months and she was still married to Mike Shay at the time.
But the clearest indication that Scheana would lay down in traffic if Rob asked her to may have been her willingness to ignore the many obvious signs that Valletta was cheating.
In the past, Scheana has harshly criticized friends of hers for being naive about their boyfriends’ infidelity, but she was hearing none of it when several members of her inner circle tried to convince her that Rob had been unfaithful.
Even now that their relationship is over, both parties claim they called it off for reasons that have nothing to do with infidelity.
Scheana appeared on Watch What Happens Live Monday night, and Rob called in, seemingly for no other reason than to blame her friends for their breakup:
“The truth is, it’s really hard in her circle of friends,” Rob said.
“Individually, when they’re by themselves, they’re really great people, but you put that group of people together and they’re savages. They come after you, and it’s really hard to have a successful relationship with those people coming and attacking you from all sides.”
“Friends say Rob is using her,” an insider claimed.
Here’s the thing:
Despite the fact that he’s the sort of unrepentant d-bag who toasts to “falling in love with something new every day,” we’re actually with Rob on this one.
Scheana’s friends are a pack of sociopaths, and we can’t imagine any healthy relationship existing in that environment.
But that doesn’t mean Rob isn’t shady as hell.
These days, Valletta and Scheana are friends with benefits, and those who know the couple best say he’s only maintaining ties with the SUR girl in order to help his career.
“Every single time Rob is in town, she invites him to an event with her,” one insider tells Radar Online.
“They know that they are much more in-demand together than apart.”
Sadly, it seems Scheana doesn’t see the situation for what it is, and in fact still looks at Rob as husband material.
“Scheana would marry him in a heartbeat if he wanted to marry her,” the source claims.
“But he’s told her that he does not want to be tied down, and she keeps telling him that he will regret it.”
Scheana, you’re helping this guy’s career and having no strings attached sex with him, all the while assuring him that you’ll happily settle down and get married if he ever decides he wants to.
Believe us when we say you’re not giving him a ton of incentive to hurry up and settle down.

Catt Sadler Leaves E! News, Blames Sexist Salary Discrepancy
After nearly a dozen years at E! News, Catt Sadler has announced she’s leaving the company…
… and she’s sort of leaving the network’s reputation in tatters by doing so.
Via a lengthy statement that has gone viral and made her a hero of the ongoing #MeToo movement, the long-time anchor has explained her decision as follows:
“Up until this point, I mean it really has been a dream job. Literally a dream job,” Sadler said to open her statement, adding:
“I’m from Indiana, born and raised, and I had my sights set on E! and I’ve seen the world. I’ve had the best experiences. I’ve gotten incredibly close with all of my coworkers. It’s like a family here and it’s been beautiful for the majority of my run.
“I pinch myself every day the job that I get to do. I have so much fun. It has almost been surreal. But then, this year happened.”
Huh? Please elaborate, Catt.
Over the past 12 months or so, the single mother of two has expanded her responsibilities at E!.
She now (or used to) host the two-hour live daytime show Daily Pop and also anchored E! News on many evenings, thereby taking on “more work hours and what not,” she writes.
However, her paycheck has not reflected this new status and increased work load.
With her contract set to come to an end, Sadler was told executives wanted her to sign a new deal.
But Sadler says she was “informed and made aware that my male equivalent at the network who I started with the same year and have come up with doing essentially similar jobs, if not the same job, wasn’t just making a little bit more than me but was making double my salary and has been for several years.”
She’s referring here to Jason Kennedy.
No numbers have been thrown around, but he apparently makes TWICE what Sadler has been making and what she was going to be offered.
“That was really hard to swallow, but you know information is supposed to be power and when my team began negotiations knowing what we knew, that was the barometer in which I expected to be paid, based on the law and based on what I know to be fair,” she wrote.
Sadler says she believes in her “hearts of hearts” that it’s “reasonable” to be compensated on par with Kennedy.
Although Sadler was really hoping to stick around the network “not only did [E!] refuse to pay me as much as my male counterpart, but they didn’t come close – nowhere close, not even remotely close.”
Continues Sadler, intent on explaining herself, even though her side is really clear:
“It’s almost insulting because you know you work really hard. I’m a single mom of two kids. I’ve given my all to this network. I’ve sacrificed time away from my family and I have dedicated my entire career to this network.
“And when you learn something like that, it makes you feel very small and underappreciated and undervalued. It’s heartbreaking.”
Catt also wants everyone to know she isn’t blaming Kennedy in any way, shape or form.
“Jason Kennedy is one of my best friends in the whole wide world. He is like a brother to me. And in no way do I want this to reflect poorly on him.
“He’s devastated, I think, and I think he believes that this is a great loss for the network. He does not want to see me go. Jason is a class act …
“It’s important that people don’t vilify him because he isn’t the problem – the system’s the problem, the structure’s the problem. And I really do mean that. Because that’s been a hard part of this whole thing because I love him dearly.
“And to be honest, he has been such a champion for me in every sense. But it’s not his decision.”
In the wake of her announcement and reveal, Sadler has received support across social media.

Others, meanwhile, are now threatening to boycott E! News.
Sadler isn’t advocating that or anything, she just says she feels “empowered” these days to stand up for herself as a woman.
What might she do next?
“I might go off the grid at least for a week or so. I’m going to try and make that happen,” she says, concluding:
“And then I’m going to get back to work, you best believe.”

Wendy Williams Blames Nelly Accuser for Possibly Being Raped
Wendy Williams just blamed the alleged victim.
On Monday morning’s edition of her bizarrely popular talk show, the host took it upon herself to address Nelly and the disturbing allegation that he raped a fan on board a tour bus last week.
Nelly was arrested for this reported act, which supposedly took place on Friday night in Washington after the rapper performed on stage with Florida Georgia Line.
According to a statement from local police, “at 3:48 AM, a female called 911 to report that she was sexually assaulted by a male, who is known as the rapper ‘Nelly.’
“The alleged assault was reported to occur on the tour bus that was parked at the listed location. Nelly had performed at the White River Amphitheater just hours before.”
The artist was taken into custody an hour after this call was made and then released around 8 a.m.
He has vehemently denied all charges.
That’s all we know about the incident, and we’d never dare to speculate any further when it comes to something as sensitive and dangerous as rape.
But the same can’t be said for Wendy Williams.
Once again sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, while lacking any kind of pertinent information about what transpired, Williams went off today on both Nelly… and his accuser.
“If she did not put herself in that situation, this wouldn’t have happened,” Williams actually said in front of a studio audience, jumping up on her inappropriate high horse and addressing the alleged victim as follows:
“Young lady, you’ve got to stay out of tour buses.”
Wow. She really did go there.
Is this any different than telling a college student that she really should stay out of fraternities if she wants to avoid a sexual assault?
Can you imagine if it comes out that Nelly really did rape this person… and Williams is on record as saying she has any blame whatsoever for what happened?
The awful human being talk show host then turned her attention to Nelly.
Referencing songs of the singer’s in which he sings about sex and partying and how women should take their clothes off, Williams said:
“The problem is, you can’t party the way you write about. You didn’t grow up in Rolling Stones times.”
Right. Sure. Okay.
So it’s the accuser’s fault for wanting to party on a tour bus and it’s Nelly’s fault for hosting a party on a tour bus? Got it, Wendy!
Upon his release from custody on Saturday, Nelly Tweeted the following:
“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation. I am completely innocent.
“I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”
Unlike Williams, we’re just gonna wait and see for those facts to come out before we offer up any sort of opinion.
Seriously, Wendy. Just shut the eff up sometimes.

Willa Ford: Former Pop Star Blames Death of Her Career on 9/11
At this point, it’s possible that some of our readers are too young to remember the events of 9/11 and the confusion, devastation, and panic that ensued following the deadliest terrorist attack in American history.
Of course, readers of all ages are unlikely to remember the former pop star Willa Ford, because she had one generic hit 16 freakin’ years ago.
And what do a national tragedy and the brief career of a wannabe Britney have to do with one another?
Well, nothing really, but in Ford’s eyes 9/11 is the reason her career was reduced to rubble.
Following the success of her debut single, “I Wanna Be Bad”, Ford seemed poised for big-time stardom.
Unfortunately, her second single was released on one of the most infamous dates in our nation’s history.
Americans weren’t really feeling bubble gum pop ditties during that dark week in 2001, and Ford says her career suffered irreparable damage as a result.
“A lot of people don’t realize this, but my second single was released on September 11, 2001,” the 36-year-old explained in a new interview with Billboard.
“Everything that happened that day froze; the world stood still, as it should have. My second single didn’t do well because anything that launched that day kind of got canned. I know that sounds silly, but on radio they slate things, but it really fell to the wayside.”
To be fair, it’s not like Ford is comparing her career woes to the real tragedies of 9/11, but she should be savvy enough to know comments like these are generally not well-received.
Asked if she would ever consider attempting a comeback in the world of music, Ford replied, “It’s harder than it seems.”
“I have a family now, so it’s something that I need to have the support of my husband, and I have a child now,” she added.
“It’s one of those things I’ve been thinking about, and when it’s time, I’ll reach out to the right producers.”
Hopefully, before she bothers laying down any new tracks, Willa will undergo some media training and figure out a way to extract her foot from her mouth.
And hey, it’s not like singing is Willa’s only talent.
These days, she’s making a living as an interior decorator.
And she can act! Willa played Anna Nicole Smith in a Lifetime movie, and … ya know, on second thought, maybe she should focus on her music.
