Conor McGregor Charged With Assault After Attacking UFC Bus

UFC fighter Conor McGregor has been charged with three counts of assault after a harrowing incident in which he was seen allegedly throwing a dolly at a bus window, raining shards of glass upon several MMA rivals.

Though he’s been known to do and say several dumb things in the past, this is a bit worse than announcing that he’s “black from the waist down.”

This event may end his career, and it all started with a bad blood confrontation between two other fighters.

This story is wild from start to finish. Here is the incident that set things in motion:

On Tuesday, April 3, Khabib Nurmagomedov had a relatively minor confrontation with Artem Lobov, in which Khabib cornered Artem.

Reportedly, Khabib grabbed Artem by the neck and struck him multiple times in the face.

Conor McGregor wasn’t there, but you might say that he was involved. He and Artem are close.

Furthermore, Conor and Khabib engage in frequent “trash talk” and seem to have a genuine rivalry for each other that extends beyond their sport.

It’s probably safe to say that no one expected this hostile run-in to blow up as it did, days later.

During a promotion for UFC 223 on Thursday, April 5, Conor McGregor showed up at Barclays Center when no one expected him to.

His intent appears to have been to confront Khabib over what went down with Artem earlier in the week.

Khabib was on a bus at the time, and was reportedly accompanied by his management team as well as “red corner” UFC 223 fighters like Rose Namajunas, Al Iaquinta, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Ray Borg, and Michael Chiesa.

But it seems that Conor did not see the slow-moving bus or the teammates as a real obstacle.

TMZ spotted Conor as he ran alongside the bus … and then grabs a dolly that was being used to transport equipment and throws the dolly at the bus window.

The result was a shattered bus window and, reportedly, injuries.

Dana White tells TMZ that Michael Chiesa was on the bus and was “cut to pieces” by the shards of shattered glass from the bus window.

Chiesa has been hospitalized. On Thursday evening, Chiesa wrote on Twitter that he has been been the MMA version of benched because of his injuries.

“A decision was made by the New York State Athletic Commission to pull me from UFC 223. I’m devastated to say the least. @Showtimepettis I hope to run this match up ASAP, June 9th in your backyard. That’s all I have to say for now. Much love.”

As one might imagine, Conor McGregor is expected to get into a lot of trouble for this.

In fact, Dana White tells TMZ that: “This is bigger than us firing him.”

Since then, Khabib Nurmagomedov has mocked Conor’s behavior while speaking to MMA Fighting, saying:

“I am laughing inside. You broke window? Why? Come inside.”

One imagines that they can hear his accent as he taunts Conor.

“You know UFC don’t let you come inside. If you real gangster why don’t you come inside?”

His statement continues with what many would construe as a thinly veiled threat of physical harm.

“This is big history gangster place. Brooklyn. You want to talk to me? Send me location. We have to talk? I am gonna come, no problem.”

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Conor McGregor has gotten into trouble in recent memory.

For one thing, he’s earned scorn for hurling homophobic slurs at opponents. Yes, he should know better.

In November of 2017, he jumped into the cage at Bellator 187 to celebrate his teammate’s perceived win. The referee had not made a ruling yet, and attempted to remove Conor.

Conor responded by shoving the referee multiple times and then reportedly slapped the commissioner when confronted.

Some worry that the aggression and total lack of impulse control displayed by Conor is the result of chronic head trauma doing damage to his brain, a phenomena discussed in recent years with respect to football.

Others think that perhaps it is simply the disposition that would lead someone to a career in which they punch other men for a living.

Either way, it sounds like Conor McGregor’s career may be at its end.

Mother Who Gave Marijuana to Her Baby Arrested, Charged

There are a lot of bad parents in this world who make terrible, terrible choices for their children.

Most of these parents don"t record their terrible behavior and broadcast it to the entire internet. But … some do.

Which is how authorities came to see this video, below, featuring the outrageous sight of a 1-year-old baby smoking marijuana.

Brianna ashanti lofton mugshot

Brianna Ashanti Lofton is a twenty year old Raleigh woman, and she was arrested.

Her initial charges were for two counts of felony child abuse, contributing to delinquency, and possession of marijuana.

However, it was later determined that her initial felony charges were in error.

Upon her Lofton"s first court appearance, she was instead charged with a lesser felony.

It"s still a big deal.

And what she allegedly did is still unconscionable.

Police are crediting the public with directing them to this video.

The alleged incidents of this baby, who is now 16 months old, smoking marijuana (though it was initially believed to be a cigarette by some viewers) took place around December or January.

Shocked and outraged viewers who saw the video made it go viral — and many of them reached out to police.

That, authorities say, is how they were able to investigate this horrifying crime.

Lofton is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on $ 100,000 bond. Even if she is released, she is ordered to stay away from her baby.

The baby, who of course has not been named, is in the custody of Wake County Child Protective Services.

There was a time, of course, when parents considered it "normal" to expose their children and even babies to drugs.

We"ve all heard old stories about parents rubbing liquor on a teething baby"s gums, when there are of course much safer numbing agents.

For generations, bad parents have dosed their children with alcohol in order to get them to sleep — a despicable act that is damaging as well as dependency-forming.

Even just a few decades ago, doctors were advising parents to give their young children medications like Benadryl, which can cause drowsiness, for no other reason than to "help" the child to sleep at night.

While marijuana itself is not particularly dangerous, exposing a child or baby"s lungs to smoke can be so dangerous and damaging.

Beyond that, while marijuana is considered safe for adults, a child"s mind and body are still developing, and with very rare exceptions such as epileptic children or pediatric cancer patients, kids just do not need any marijuana in their systems.

And, again, we"re talking about a one-year-old baby.

On Wednesday, the Raleigh Police Department posted their gratitude to the public on Facebook:

"Big thanks to everyone who posted information about the smoking mother and baby. Thanks to your willingness to get involved, the child is now safe and the mother is in police custody."

If convicted, Lofton could face up to 17 years in prison.

This may strike some as odd, as abusive parents often face much shorter sentences for unforgivable acts of violence.

We should note, however, that most parents who willfully endanger and harm their children don"t … film it and then share the video of it on social media.

Here is the video that may keep Lofton behind bars until her baby is an adult.

"Horror House" Parents Charged with 12 Counts of Torture, Better Be Imprisoned for Life

David and Louise Turpin – the California parents who reportedly confined, tortured and malnourished their 13 children – now face up to 94 years to life in prison, authorities announced on Thursday.

The couple was officially charged in court today with 12 counts of torture, following their arrest this week for committing allegedly heinous acts.

As previously reported, the Turpins were discovered to have been keeping their kids captive for years, allegedly depriving them of food and keeping them chained to pieces of furniture for hours and hours at a time.

The kids ranged in age from two through 29.

A 17-year old daughter managed to escape and call the police, alerting them to the despicable conditions in which her siblings were being kept.

Bail has been set at $ 13 million for the Turpins in Riverside County, California.

Said Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin on Thursday afternoon:

“All the victims were and are severely malnourished. The 29-year-old female victim weighs 82 pounds.”

The kids were immediately sent to the hospital upon being rescued by authorities and are receiving various types of treatment.

They are receiving antibiotics, vitamins and nutrients and psychologists will soon be brought in to evaluate the victims when their physical conditions improve.

Hestrin also said that the children would “sleep all day and be up all night,” confirming reports from neighbors who have said they witnessed the kids being marched all around the home during very strange hours.

According to Hestrin, “none of the victims were allowed to shower more than once a year.”

Many were found lying in piles of their own feces this week.

“This is severe physical and emotional abuse we’re talking about,” Hestrin said. “It breaks our hearts, but we’re professionals and have to seek justice.”

He noted that the 17-year old who broke free and dialed 911 had been plotting her escape for two years.

On Wednesday, investigators served search warrants to the home, spending approximately seven hours going through evidence, and walking out with several boxes, two safes and pieces of wood that appear to have been part of bed frames.

David’s mother, Betty, told reporters after her son’s arrest that David and his wife had so many kids because God wanted them to.

“I feel they were model Christians,” she told the Southern California News Group on Wednesday, adding:

“It’s hard to believe all of this. Over the years, the Lord knows what happened.”

Adds David Macher, a public defender assigned to David Turpin:

“What we would like the public to know is that our clients are presumed to be innocent, and that’s a very important presumption.”

When asked about the number of counts and the nature of the charges, Macher said:

“It’s going to be a challenge.”

Aside from suffering severe caloric malnutrition associated with muscle wasting, several of the kids have cognitive impairment and “neuropathy, which is nerve damage, as a result of this extreme and prolonged physical abuse,” Hestrin says.

What will happen now to the victims?

The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services is seeking court authorization to provide oversight and care for the 13 siblings “to the extent that’s necessary,” says Susan von Zabern, spokeswoman for the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services.

She added on Tuesday:

“At this point, we’ll be doing a full assessment with medical professionals to better understand needs of the adults as well as the children, and we’ll be prepared to provide supportive services as well as engage other agencies in assisting these individuals to be stable.”
