Chris Brown: Released from Jail, Defended by Attorney
Chris Brown has been released from prison.
But his latest legal ordeal is only just beginning.
As previously reported, Chris Brown was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday night.
He has been charged with a felony.
We’ll get to the details of the case against him in a moment, but the most immediate update on this controversial artist is that he’s been released on $ 250,000 bail.
It was posted at 11:19 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Los Angeles Sheriff Department inmate records, with Brown’s attorney Tweeting to fans around 2 a.m.
“Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes,” Mark Geragos wrote, adding:
“Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy.”
We’re not sure if a lawyer should really be hashtagging “TeamBreezy” if he wants to be taken seriously, but then again..
… we’re not sure about a whole lot when it comes to Chris Brown.
The 27-year-old artist was taken into custody last night after a nearly 14-hour standoff at his Tarzana, California home.
It started after a woman named Baylee Curran claimed she and a friend stopped by Brown’s house just to hang out.
In subsequent interviews, Curran says Brown was acting strange all night, culminating in him pulling a gun on her after she took a close look at an expensive piece of jewelry that was being held by a member of Brown’s entourage.
Speaking to Extra (below), Curran describes the events as follows:
“Chris came in, pulled out his gun and said, ‘I’m getting so sick of you people,’ pointed the gun at me, (and told me) to get the f—- out of the house.”
She has since told several media outlets that she feared for her life, adding to E! News of the diamond piece in question:
“I did not pick it up, I did not touch it, take it or grab it, anything to that sort.”
Curran fled from the premises and called the cops.
They arrived around 3 a.m., but Brown refused to let them inside his house.
While they were in his driveway, the singer unleashed a tirade of profanity on Instagram, filming three separate videos that cursed off the police and proclaimed his innocence.
“You’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing,” he said in one message after verbally attacking the cops for making him out to be a villain.
He then said he was “asleep half the damn night” and that “it’s always gon’ be f-ck the police.”
Soon after sharing the above footage, Brown reportedly taunted the authorities outside his Los Angeles mansion.
“Come and get me,” sources say he yelled to them upon dropping a duffel bag full of weapons and drugs out the window.
Eventually, of course, the cops obtained a search warrant and they DID go and get Brown.
A little after 5 p.m. PST, they took the singer into custody.
We don’t know at the moment exactly what evidence they found at the scene, but one has to assume they came across at least one gun.
Earlier in the night, Brown had entertained such guests as Ray J.
An initial report claimed the former Kim Kardashian sex tape partner was actually getting a tattoo inside of Brown’s home before the chaos ensued and he got the heck out of there.
According to TMZ, Ray J was actually handcuffed by police and had his BMW confiscated while they tried to figure out what the heck was going on.
After Brown’s arrest, Ray J came to his friend’s defense with the following video:
That’s all we know at the moment
Is Baylee Curran a reliable witness? We can’t say for certain.
She’s a recent beauty pageant winner and an aspiring model.
She allegedly stole a Louis Vuitton purse from The Plaza Hotel in New York City in 2013, although no charges were brought up against her at the time.
More details will likely come out in the near future about Curran, about this weird night in question and about Chris Brown’s role in it.
But if you’re asking us whether we give Brown the benefit of any doubt or if he’s earned out trust in any way, shape or form, then we can only respond with a question of our own:
Are you insane?
This guy is a violent agitator who thinks he’s above the law.

Brock Turner to Be Released from Jail Early
Brock Turner is back in the news.
For all the wrong reasons.
The former Stanford University swimmer was convicted of sexual assault against an unconscious woman in January of 2015.
The case made headlines this spring when he was sentenced because a judge determined that Turner should not spend much time in jail.
As a result, Turner is set to be released from prison on Friday, according to the Department of Correction’s website of Santa Clara County in California.
At that time, he will have served three months of a six-month sentence.
For those who have forgotten about the Brock Turner case, here is a refresher:
On January 18, 2015, two students came across Turner inserting his fingers inside of an unconscious woman in an alley.
He tried to flee on foot upon being caught, but was caught and tackled by one of the witnesses.
Evidence pointed to Turner shoving pine needles and other objects into the woman’s vagina, with his attorney trying to argue that Turner asked for permission and that the sexual acts were consensual.
However, a jury did not buy this defense and Turner was found guilty on multiple counts of rape.
Yes, RAPE. Turner was found guilty. There’s no debate here over his crime.
Except that Turner’s father sent the judge a note that pleaded for a lenient sentence.
He disgustingly downplayed his son’s actions at the time of the rape, writing that Turner’s “life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve” if he goes to jail.
Turner’s dad added:
“That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20-plus years of life.”
Here is a look at Dan Turner’s full statement:
Santa Clara County Judge Aaron Persky* mostly agreed with Mr. Turner in the end, ignoring the prosecutors’ recommendation that Turner spend up to six years in jail.
He sentenced Turner to a mere six months, along with probation.
It’s possibly worth noting that the judge also attended Stanford.
(*According to CNN, Persky will no longer hear criminal cases beginning September 6; he will instead preside over civil cases.)
The case continued to earn national attention when a statement the victim read in court went viral.
It was read by CNN’s Ashley Banfield on air and it opened with the following line:
“You don’t know me, but you’ve been inside me, and that’s why we’re here today.”
The letter then walked people through the victim’s difficult experience, which continues today.
It’s pretty clear her punishment will outlast that of Turner.
Watch the CNN anchor try to hold it together while reading the words of the victim out loud:
The former college athlete blamed his actions on “party culture” in his own memo to the judge, claiming that he hadn’t been exposed to drugs or alcohol prior to entering college.
This would be a ridiculous excuse under any circumstance.
Plenty of college students try alcohol for the first time in college and do not tape anyone.
However, in a prosecutor’s sentencing memo obtained by the San Mercury News, it was discovered that Turner had sent text messages in high school to friends suggesting they drop acid and buy pot.
Turner will be required to attend drug and alcohol counseling after his release.
The victim, meanwhile, has decided to remain anonymous even after her powerful letter to Turner went public.
In a statement to local news outlets, she said that her decision comes as “a statement that all of these people are fighting for someone they don’t know” and that “for now, I am every woman.

Ryan Lochte Gets Charged, Could Go to Jail
Ryan Lochte may or may not go Dancing with the Stars.
He also may or may not go to prison.
The moronic swimmer – who has won 12 medals in his Olympic career, yet very few fans – has officially been charged with a crime by Brazilian authorities.
Late on Thursday, officials in that country charged Lochte with falsifying a police report, stemming from an incident early on the morning of August 14.
For those somehow unaware of what Lochte allegedly did, a refresher:
He and three U.S. swimming teammates were out late partying in Rio. Which is definitely not a crime.
But Lochte then told the press that the quartet got pulled over in a taxi by a group of thugs who pretended to be policemen.
He claimed they flashed a badge and ordered the Olympians to the ground at gunpoint.
Lochte even made himself sound all tough, saying he initially refused to listen to these supposedly armed criminals.
But then police in the area looked into the allegations and could not find evidence any crime had been committed.
Lochte had already bolted back home to the United States, but his teammates had their passports confiscated and were forced to come clean to the police.
In doing so, the admitted that a drunken Lochte had vandalized a gas station and the teammates did NOT get robbed.
Yes, a gun was pulled on them, but by a security guard who demanded they pay for the damage they had caused at the gas station.
Lochte initially admitted he was not “careful and candid” enough in the way he originally outlined what had happened.
But the public did not respond well to this half-assed apology, prompting Lochte to sit down with Matt Lauer and try again.
This time, he did take “full responsibility,” fighting off (fake?) tears while saying he let his teammates down and adding:
“I don’t want them to think that I left them dry. I took away from their accomplishments by being immature for one night. That’s what hurts the most.”
Still. He never came out and confessed to his complete lying.
Will Lochte actually go to prison for his misguided explanation of events?
It’s possible, at least.
Brazilian officials have already summoned the swimmer to Rio for a hearing, but here’s the thing: the charge is not an extraditable offense.
He can’t be forced to show up in any court.
Moreover, yes, the charge could conceivably land the athlete in jail for up to six months, but there’s a better chance Lochte beats Michael Phelps in a race tomorrow than he spends any time behind bars.
The likelihood is that Lochte’s legal team will negotiate a fine similar to the one that teammate Jimmy Feigen paid: $ 11,000, donated to charity.
The case will then go away.
We wish Lochte would do the same.
When it comes to him Dancing with the Stars, THIS IS WHAT WE THINK OF THAT IDEA.

Cameron Douglas: Released From Jail After Nearly 7 Years
Cameron Douglas is a free man.
Finally.
The son of veteran actor Michael Douglas has been released from prison after spending nearly seven yeas behind bars.
He was sentenced for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine in 2010.
At that time, Cameron was sentenced to a five-year prison term. However, he later confessed to smuggling drugs into prison, which resulted in an extension of the initial term, along with two years in solitary confinement.
(This means Cameron was at least spared the sight of his father in that abysmal Wall Street sequel!)
The troubled 38-year old also had his leg broken in a prison brawl in 2012 after a New York City crime boss put a $ 100 bounty on his head because he allegedly acted like a “rat.”
Michael’s son was scheduled to be released in 2018, but is now living in a halfway house in Brooklyn, New York.
Cameron Douglas is the son of Michael and his ex-wife, Diandra Douglas; they divorced in 2000 after 23 years of marriage.
Michael Douglas now, of course, is married to Catherine Zeta-Jones.
To his credit, Michael Douglas has never been shy about his child’s troubled.
He opened up about his son’s incarceration during his Emmy Awards acceptance speech in 2013 when he earned the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries for Behind the Candelabra.
“My oldest son, Cameron, I’m hoping I’ll be able and they’ll allow me to see him soon,” an emotional Michael told the crowd.
After he stepped off the stage, Douglas told journalists the following backstage:
“My son is in federal prison. He’s been a drug addict for a large part of his life.
“Part of the punishments – if you happen to have a slip, and this is for a prisoner who is nonviolent, as about a half-million of our drug-addicted prisoners are – he’s spent almost two years in solitary confinement and right now I’m being told that I cannot see him for two years…
“It’s been over a year now. And I’m questioning the system. Obviously at first, I was certainly disappointed in my son. But I’ve reached a point now where I’m very disappointed with the system.”
While behind bars, Cameron wrote an op-ed for The Huffington Post.
In the honest piece, he confessed to making many mistakes … and also called for prison reforms for nonviolent offenders.
“Somehow, with the astronomical rate of recidivism, largely due to drug violations, no one seems to comprehend that tossing individuals desperate for skills to cope with addiction behind bars, no matter for how long a period of time, does absolutely nothing but temporarily deter them from succumbing to their weakness,” he wrote, concluding:
Instead of focusing on how many individuals this county can keep imprisoned, why can we not focus on how many individuals we can keep from coming back?

Man Faces Jail for Trying to Recreate Seinfeld Recycling Scheme
The following tells the story of a Seinfeld viewer who tried to make like Kramer and Newman in order to get rich quick.
Yadda… yadda… yadda: the man has now been arrested.
Indeed, a judge has ruled that Brian Edward Everidge will stand trial for a crime that very much seems as if it was inspired by the Seinfeld episode “The Bottle Deposit.”
According to USA Today, Everidge allegedly transported 10,000 bottles and aluminum cans (in a Budget box truck) into Michigan from Kentucky because the latter state pays 10 cents for each beverage item you recycle.
The former state pays nothing.
Although Everidge resides in Michigan, it is actually against the law to return bottles that a person knowingly did not acquire in the state.
Everidge has been charged with a single count of beverage return of nonrefundable bottles, which is a felony punishable by up to five years behind bars; a $ 5,000 fine; or both.
Seriously!
What’s the deal with that kind of harsh punishment for this kind of crime?!?
Everidge, whose mug shot is below, was arrested for the crime in April when he was pulled over for driving 12 miles per hour over the speed limit on northbound U.S. 23.
The officer who pulled him over noticed plastic bag after plastic bag filled with bottles and cans in the back of the vehicle.
Everidge reportedly admitted at the time that he was bringing the items in from Kentucky in order to return them for deposit money.
On the aforementioned Seinfeld episode, Kramer and Newman borrowed a mail truck and proceed to stuff it with empty bottles in order to take advantage of Michigan’s higher-than-usual bottle return payments.
Assuming this was Everidge’s plan, he likely have probably made about $ 1,000, not counting money for gas, tolls and food.
Of all the states with bottle bills, Michigan has the highest refund value, according to statistics from the Container Recycling Institute.
Everidge’s attorney, meanwhile, did not say that his client was trying to emulate Kramer and Newman.
But he did make a Seinfeld-like defense, telling LivingstonDaily.com that Everidge shouldn’t have been arrested because he never actually completed the crime.
“They caught him too early,” defense attorney Marcus Wilcox said. “He attempted to attempt to return the bottles… this statute doesn’t fit.”
Who else could see Jackie Chiles making this same clam?

Track Palin Avoids Jail Time After Domestic Assault Arrest
Track Palin was facing some pretty serious charges.
Sarah Palin’s 28-year-old son was arrested in January following an alcohol-induced fight with his girlfriend.
The charges, according to Radar Online, were “4th degree assault, interfering with a domestic violence charge, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.”
At a July 11th hearing, the first two charges were dropped, and Palin pled guilty to the last. The hearing was then moved to Anchorage Veterans Court, since Palin served as an army reservist in Iraq in 2008.
This particular court is specialized, in that it’s “designed to facilitate the rehabilitation of eligible veterans who are charged with criminal offenses.”
The aim is to keep the number of veteran offenders out of jail and get them the help they need to recover.
Palin’s next hearing is July 25th, and Anchorage District Attorney Clinton Champion told Radar that the court will let Palin know who sort of therapeutic program he’ll be required to follow.
“We’re assuming he’s going to agree [to the program],” Champion added.
“That program could take months. It depends on his needs.”
This kind of rehab is put on by Veterans Affairs, who assess the patient to determine what kind of treatment would be most effective.
“For some people, it’s addiction assistance,” Clinton said.
For some, it’s related to anger management or domestic violence. Most everyone does moral reconation therapy, which is a 12 Step program to deal with thinking errors, specifically.”
The details of Palin’s altercation with his girlfriend are upsetting. Police reports state that he “struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a close fist,” then “kicked [her] on the right knee.”
Sarah Palin blamed the arrest on both PTSD and President Obama (a notion that Donald Trump agrees with).
“My son like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened, they come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country,” she said.
“And that starts from the top. It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question, if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top.
“The question though that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through?”
We hope that Track gets the help he needs.
Martin Shkreli Might Be Going to Jail, Loves Pokemon Go
If you spend any time at all on social media, you’re likely familiar with both Martin Shkreli and Pokemon Go.
The two out-of-left-field phenomena have little in common other than the fact that they’ve both done a surprising amount of damage and the Internet can’t seem to get enough of them.
Pokemon Go has resulted in a shocking number of injuries and existential crises, as well as a never-ending stream of frustrated social media users who don’t understand why their adult co-workers are engaging in serious arguments about Squirtles and Jiggly Puffs.
Shkreli has caused a similar uproar, but for a much more serious reason.
During his time as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals the so-called “Pharma Bro” jacked up the price on a potentially life-saving medication.
He also started a random feud with Ghostface Killah, despite the fact that most of us have been cautioned from a young age that the Wu Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ to f–k with.
Anyway, you’re probably wondering what Pikachu and the living incarnation of Millennial privilege could possibly have in common.
Well, it seems that like many others, Shkreli is a big, big Pokemon Go fanatic.
Unlike most, however, he might soon find it difficult to play the game thanks to a looming prison sentence.
Back in December, Shkreli was arrested on securities fraud charges after investigators alleged that he used stock from Turing to pay off debt from a hedge fund that he’d previously run into the ground.
At an arraignment in Brooklyn yesterday, Shkreli threw his co-defendant under the bus by requesting a separate trial.
But the great part of this story is that a New York Daily News reporter claims that on his way out of the courtroom, Shkreli was heard to remark to his lawyer:
“Can I go play Pokemon go now?”
Yes, Shkreli has Charizards and Wartortles on the brain even as his future freedom hangs in the balance.
Fortunately, he’s not due back in court til June of 2017, so he’ll have plenty of time to catch ’em all before he’s ensnared himself.

John Enochs Gets Probation, One Day in Jail in Rape Case; Victim Sues Indiana University, Fraternity
A woman who accused ex-Indiana University student John Enochs of rape has filed a lawsuit against Indiana University and his fraternity.
Enochs, accused of raping two students, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in a deal with prosecutors that could spare him jail time.
As it is, he served one day behind bars; Enochs will serve a full year of jail time, but only if he violates probation, officials confirmed.
He was charged in 2015 with two counts of rape stemming from alleged incidents in 2013 and 2015, according to court documents.
The 2013 incident was dismissed and the count pertaining to the 2015 incident was amended to a low-level felony offense of battery.
Enochs pleaded guilty to that battery charge.
The court entered the charge as a misdemeanor instead of a felony, which was up to its discretion. Hence the lighter punishment.
The sentence, not unlike the Brock Turner Stanford rape case, drew criticism from many observers for being what some say is too lenient.
Now, a lawsuit filed by the victim says school officials and administrators “showed deliberate indifference to actual notice of this sexual assault.”
Moreover, the school “condoned Delta Tau Delta fostering an environment of illegal and dangerous activity, as well as sexual assault.”
The woman, a fellow Indiana University student, testified that she attended a party hosted by Enochs’ fraternity back in April 2015.
After passing out from drinking, she was woken by Enochs “forcefully raping her,” according to a press release about the lawsuit.
Attorney Jeff Herman says in the release:
“There were many red flags that the school and the fraternal organization ignored which ultimately led to my client being sexually assaulted.”
Even more suspect to his many critics?
Enochs has previously been accused of rape in two separate incidents, according to court records and multiple media reports.
Robert Miller, the chief deputy prosecuting attorney in Monroe County, said he tried to speak to the prior alleged victims before the plea.
The 2015 accuser “never returned our calls, while the 2013 accuser “exchanged messages but it didn’t work out and we were up against a deadline.”
Enochs’ defense attorneys said prosecutors “acknowledged through their voluntary dismissal of the rape charges” that he is not a rapist.
“John Enochs did not rape anyone and he should never have been charged with these offenses,” his defense team pointedly stated.
The fraternity member “presented evidence to demonstrate his innocence of the sensationalized and false charges.”
After which, his attorneys maintain, “the prosecutor’s office, on their own motion, dismissed both rape charges.”
“John Enochs did admit to conduct in one instance that the Court found to be a misdemeanor.”
“He is profoundly sorry for his lack of judgment and apologizes for his conduct.”

Conrad Hilton Violates Probation, Gets Jail Time Like Older Sister Paris
Guess what? There’s no such thing as pretending you’re above the law.
Paris Hilton tried it out in 2007 after a DUI arrest; she drove with a suspended license, therefore violating the terms of her probation, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
Her younger brother, Conrad Hilton follow suit recently by violating his probation! Hilton, according to People Magazine, admitted in court Monday that he had been using marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids and cocaine.
This isn’t the first time Hilton has violated the terms of his parole; in January he was sentenced to 90 days in rehab.
In 2014, Hilton verbally assaulted the crew on a British Airways flight from London to Los Angeles, to the point, according to records, where he made it impossible for them to do their job.
“I am going to f—ing kill you!” and “I will f—ing own anyone on this flight … they are f—ing peasants,” Hilton allegedly yelled at crew members, and smoked both pot and a cigarette in the lavatory.
Hilton also punched the bulkhead, and grabbed a flight attendant shirt and screamed, “I could get you all fired in five minutes. I know your boss! My father will pay this out. He has done it before. Dad paid $ 300,000 last time.”
Hilton’s attorney is none other than Robert Shapiro, a member of O.J. Simpson’s defense team, and portrayed by John Travolta in the FX miniseries, The People Vs O.J. Simpson. Shapiro explained that Hilton’s behavior could have been the result of a sleeping pill he took.
2014 wasn’t the best year ever for Hilton; he also crashed his BMW on a freeway near Palm Springs after leading police on a chase and hitting a Volkswagon while trying to switch lanes.
He then collided with a tractor trailer, and had to be removed by the jaws of life.
Hilton was reportedly driving at 200 mph before crashing, but police say neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor.
Hilton has until tomorrow to turn himself in.

Kim Richards: Headed to JAIL For Probation Violation?!
Last year, Kim Richards was arrested for public intoxication after getting drunk at The Polo Lounge and resisting police officers who tried to remove her from the premises.
Shortly thereafter, Richards was arrested for shoplifting at Target which is not exactly the sort of crime you expect from a Beverly Hills Housewife.
Kim got off with a couple slaps on the wrist, both because the law works differently for famous people (even C-listers like Richards) and because it was clear to the court that her actions were the result of a serious drinking problem.
But while she wasn’t forced to do any jail time, the 51-year-old reality star was required to fulfill certain obligations in order to prove to the court that she was serious about staying sober.
Now, TMZ is reporting that Kim has not upheld her end of the bargain, and there’s a good chance she’ll soon find herself behind bars.
According to the site, Richards has failed to provide documentation that she attended 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in the past year.
That, coupled with the fact that Richards tried to get out of community service by faking a foot injury (and later getting photographed at a red carpet event wearing heels) has reportedly left the judge in her case seriously angry.
Insiders tell TMZ that arrest warrant might be issued as early as today if Kim doesn’t proof that she attended the meetings and completed her community service hours.
Sources close to Kim say that won’t be easy – because she hasn’t fulfilled either requirement.
If the court decides to make an example of Kim (which seems to be the most likely scenario at the moment) she may wind up serving 60 days behind bars.
Her family is reportedly worried that she’s off the wagon, as they can’t imagine else she would shirk such important responsibilities.
We’ll have updates on this story as more information becomes available.
In the meantime, watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online to see Kim in happier times.

Charlie Sheen: Facing JAIL TIME For Lying to Sex Partners About HIV?
It’s been five months since we first learned that Charlie Sheen is HIV positive, and despite initial reports that the actor planned to adopt a quieter lifestyle and make his health his top priority, Sheen seems to be embroiled in more drama than ever.
Earlier this month, a judge granted ex-girlfriend Brett Rossi a restraining order against the actor.
Shortly thereafter, the LAPD launched an investigation of Sheen that was believed to be related to threats of violence he had allegedly made against Rossi.
Now, the National Enquirer is claiming that the investigation actually stems from a different – and potentially more serious – criminal complaint against Sheen.
According to the tabloid, police are looking into the possibility that Sheen committed a felony by having unprotected sex without telling his partners that he’s HIV positive.
The California penal code states that it’s a crime punishable by prison time to engage in “unprotected sexual activity when the infected person knows at the time of the unprotected sex that he or she is infected with HIV.”
“If you could prove that he knowingly had HIV and he was having unprotected sex at the time he knew it, that certainly is a crime,” famed investigator Bo Dietl tells the Enquirer.
Yikes. We also assumed Charlie Sheen would end up in prison at some point, but we didn’t think it would be for something quite so heinous.

Kody Brown: Sister Wives Star Facing JAIL TIME After Crushing Legal Defeat?!
It probably wasn’t a good idea for Kody Brown and his four wives to venture into the world of reality television.
Sure, it brought them fame and fortune, but it also brought them the attention of Utah law enforcement officials, who launched an investigation into the Browns’ polygamous lifestyle not long after the first episode of Sister Wives aired back in 2010.
The Browns have avoided prosecution thus far, in part by relocating to Nevada.
In 2011, the family filed a lawsuit claiming that Utah’s laws against polygamy were a violation of their constitutional rights.
Today, however, that suit was rejected by the Tenth Circuit Court, a move that could have devastating legal consequences for the Browns.
Interestingly, the Browns have yet to be charged with a crime, despite more than 100 hours of televised evidence.
This despite a recent statement from Utah State Police confirming that an investigation into the Browns possible criminal activities began “the day after the first episode aired.”
It’s possible that the DA didn’t want to go ahead with the charges due to the unclear nature of the state’s anti-polygamy statutes.
Now that a separate legal body has confirmed that the Browns are not protected by the constitution, however, law enforcement could decide to strike.
In all likelihood, however, Kody and company will never be prosecuted.
For starters, they’re protected by a stipulation that law enforcement in Utah would only pursue charges against polygamists in cases where the parties “(1) induce a partner to marry through misrepresentation or (2) are suspected of committing a collateral crime such as fraud or abuse.”
Additionally, by most accounts their run from the law was dramatized for the sake of television.
The Browns have been accused of faking much of the drama on Sister Wives, and that may end up helping them in this case.
Basically, if everything portrayed on the series was accurate, they’d be vulnerable to prosecution, but because many involved with production have confirmed that the show is largely scripted, they may be in the clear.
Watch Sister Wives online at TV Fanatic to decide for yourselves if the Browns are lawbreakers or just eccentrics.

Kim Richards: Headed to JAIL For Lying to Judge?!
Just when it looked like things might be turning around Kim Richards, she went and did what she does best by screwing up in epic fashion.
In case you haven’t been keeping up on the troubled former Housewife, Richards has had one of the most horrendous years of any celebrity in recent memory.
For starters, Kim was arrested twice, once for kicking a cop, and once for shoplifting from Target.
Shortly thereafter, Kim was fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
She sought addiction treatment in order to secure a lighter sentence, and then went missing from rehab after taking a furlough to attend her daughter’s wedding (where she reportedly got drunk and humiliated the bride).
To top it all off, Richards spent much of the year caring for best friend (and ex-husband), Monty Brinson, who died from cancer last month at the age of 58.
Like we said, 2015 was decidedly not her year. But there was one upside:
Through some seriously impressive legal maneuvering, Richards was able to avoid jail in both of her cases.
Then, something even more miraculous happened: Richards mounted a career comeback, signing on to star in a VH1 reality about troubled celebrity mother/daughter relationships.
Unfortunately, Kim may have just thrown it all away by…wearing heels?
You see, Kim has thus far avoided doing any manual labor as part of her community service by convincing the judge she suffers from a serious foot ailment.
Now, according to TMZ, prosecutors have filed evidence that includes photos of Kim wearing high heels at various public functions.
She’s now due back in court on June 1, and if she can’t prove that her injury is as serious as she previously claimed, she could face jail time for lying to the court.
Let this be a lesson, kids – dumb and unlucky make for a terrible combination.
