Judge Has to Order 30-Year-Old Man to Move Out of His Parents" House
A 30-year-old has lost his court battle against his parents after a judge ruled that he does, in fact, have to move out of their house.
This story is wild, but actually a bit more serious than people might first believe.
We"ve included a video from the courthouse, but that only tells part of the story.
The video that we have included gives only some highlights of the case.
The full back-and-forth between State Supreme Court Justice Donald Greenwood and Michael Rotondo lasted approximately a half hour.
Though the judge ordered that Rotondo would have to move out, he also ordered that Adult Protective Services investigate the situation.
To a degree, perhaps Judge Greenwood was simply doing his due diligence in a case involving family members at home.
But it is clear to anyone watching this case that something is … not right.
It began when Rotondo"s parents offered to help him to find an apartment and even offered him money, giving him over $ 1,000 … which he then used on "expenses" without moving.
Following that, they stopped paying for his phone and … well, they ended up in court.
Since first being reported, the Rotondo story has been picked up by New York Post, Fox News, the BBC, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Greenwood praised Rotondo"s legal research after Rotondo pointed to a prior case in which it was determined that a family member had the right to six months between being served with an eviction and actually being required to leave.
This period of time is designed so that someone can make enough money to secure new housing. There are all sorts of eviction laws to cover many situations.
Greenwood patiently explained to Rotondo that there is an appellate court case that establishes that, in short, the case that Rotondo cited does not apply to his particular family situation.
Rotondo referred to the judge"s ruling as "outrageous."
Judge Greenwood referred to Rotondo"s demand that he be allowed to remain as being similarly "outrageous."
Though the judge urged Rotondo to speak to his parents, Mark and Christina, and reach an amicable arrangement, Rotondo refused.
After the court ruling, Rotondo spoke to the press who had gathered.
Rotondo says that there have not been any "incidents" between him and his parents. In fact, he says that they effectively do not speak with each other.
He says that they do not provide him with food or with laundry, but that they do provide him with a residence.
He describes getting food in the kitchen as being similar to a buffet line, and that he waits for his parents to vacate the room before cooking his own meals.
When asked what he does to support himself, Rotondo says that he has a business, but refused to identify it, instead saying:
"My business is my business."
After speaking to the press, he returned to his parents" house. He plans to attempt to appeal the ruling.
Here is why this is serious.
Rotondo has a son, of whom he does not have custody.
From our understanding, it looks like he has attempted to sue for custody on the grounds that not having custody is discrimination against him, as a "poor person."
It seems that he fears that accepting money from his parents and having his own residence, while normally things that would make a person seem like a more viable parent, would undercut his bid for custody.
If your parents are just handing you over $ 1,000, it"s kind of hard to argue that you"re impoverished.
Another cause for worry is that Rotondo has a 2009 arrest for allegedly stalking a woman at her home.
Many have speculated that Rotondo may have certain unresolved … issues.
But obviously, he is in no way representative of most people who live at home.
With two decades of wage stagnation while rent and housing prices continue to climb, it is increasingly difficult for even employed adults to find housing.
Though a lot of media attention to the Rotondo case has likely been due to older generations finding amusement at the idea of a man so accustomed to being pampered that he"d rather go to court than move out, there"s more going on here.
And, again, there are plenty of young adults who would love nothing more than to move out … and would be happy to, if they started making a living wage.
We hope that Rotondo"s story has a happy ending. Perhaps APS will be able to assist Rotondo by connecting him to whichever resources he needs.

Abby Lee Miller: I Have to Get My Affairs in Order
Last week, Abby Lee Miller spoke out about her cancer diagnosis.
Now, a report describes her response to being diagnosed with this fast-spreading lymphoma right after her release from prison.
She is apparently preparing herself for the worst. This is so sad.
RadarOnline‘s insider reports on how Abby Lee Miller is coping with her prognosis. And … it almost sounds like she’s given up.
Apparently, after being diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, the former Dance Moms star “been getting her business affairs in order.”
“Abby Lee’s deciding who gets what in her will.”
And some of her decisions may surprise you.
“She made a few friends in prison and she’d like to reward them.”
That sounds incredibly generous of her. She’s a millionaire, and even a small percentage of her wealth could transform multiple people’s lives.
Naturally, no one wants for her to die. Least of all Miller herself.
“It’s a very sad, scary time for Abby Lee.”
We would imagine so.
More than anything, it sounds like Miller feels isolated. Probably from having just gotten out of prison and living in a halfway house.
“She’s never felt so alone!”
Illness and incarceration can be two of the most isolating experiences in the world. And Miller is experiencing them both, back-to-back.
“Abby Lee’s trying to stay strong but she can’t get through the day without crying.”
That is sad, but more than understandable.
“She doesn’t seem to think there’s much hope.”
We’ll get into that at the moment. She should have hope.
“She’s strong, but not good.” The insider describes her cancer, saying: “It’s bad and very aggressive.”
Miller recently shared this graphic post-op photo of her back.
“She is devastated because she has just been released, and now this.”
it’s not good timing.
“She feels cursed.”
Okay, everybody who cursed her, take it back. You’re not in trouble.
“From what I understand, she is getting her affairs in order.”
As already mentioned, she’s planning on leaving things to specific people.
“She has no family. Everything will go to her close inner circle.”
It really sounds like she’s giving in to despair.
“She doesn’t think she is going to make this.”
In addition to of course worrying for Miller’s life, one may be wondering how this will impact the remainder of her sentence — which she is serving at a halfway house.
“Abby Lee’s medical situation may require her to stay in the hospital for at least another month.”
However, the insider expects that she won’t have to then go to the halfway house.
Miller “she will likely not have to make up the time.”
Her release date from the halfway house was intended to be May 25.
It sounds like the penal system is expected to be understanding, given the circumstances.
“Being hospitalized with severe and aggressive cancer is far worse than having to eat bad food and hang out with newly released prisoners all day long.”
It’s not like being in a hospital is the same as running free.
It is always sensible to have a plan in place for your estate, especially if you have a health concern.
But we hope that this will be unnecessary for Miller.
Burkitt lymphoma is more common in children, where the success rate for defeating the cancer is about 90%.
Abby Lee Miller is an adult, where this particular lymphoma is rarer and has a lower success rate, but to our knowledge, this isn’t a death sentence.
Is this a fast-growing cancer? Yes. But fast-growing cancers are also generally faster to respond to chemo and radiation therapies.
She needs to focus on her recovery with an optimistic attitude. Giving in to despair against cancer is a recipe for defeat.
We hope that she makes a full, swift recovery.

Maci Bookout Files For Restraining Order Against Ryan Edwards!
Earlier this week, we reported that Ryan Edwards had been arrested in Tennessee in connection with a probation violation for an April heroin possession arrest.
While Edwards" struggles with addiction have been well-documented, fans were not previously aware that he had been arrested for possession or that he was on probation.
And it seems this all came as a surprise to Ryan"s baby mama, Maci Bookout, as well.
Now, Maci is taking action to ensure that Ryan won"t be allowed anywhere near her family…
1. Hard Times For Ryan
Ryan was arrested earlier this week in connection with a previous charge that fans weren’t aware of. It was widely assumed that he’d suffered a relapse, but his wife, Mackenzie Standifer, says that that’s not the case, and she insists Edwards was simply taken into custody to be re-booked.
2. More Bad News
But Mackenzie probably won’t be defending Ryan for much longer. Just days after news of his arrest went public, several media outlets reported that Edwards had been caught using the dating app Tinder to seek out potential cheating partners.
3. Grinding It Out
Mackenzie is reportedly planning to remain married to Ryan … for now. But we imagine he’ll have to make some major changes if he’s hoping to keep his pregnant wife by his side.
4. Maci’s Surprise
All of this has reportedly come as a huge shock to Ryan’s first baby mama, Maci Bookout. Bookout reportedly thought she knew all about Ryan’s checkered past and was blown away by the indiscretions he’d managed to keep buried.
5. Change of Plans
Maci and Ryan have been locked in a custody battle over their 9-year-old son Bentley for several months. Maci had previously allowed Ryan to have supervised visits with Bentley, but now it seems those days are done.
6. Not Messing Around
In fact, Maci has taken legal action to ensure that Ryan won’t be allowed anywhere near her or her family for the foreseeable future.
