Donald Trump Accepts Purple Heart, Draws Stunned Outrage

Donald Trump accomplished something very impressive in Virginia this week.

The Republican nominee for President managed to kick a baby out of a rally

and then proceed to do something so much more callous that it made the whole baby-booting thing seem downright benevolent.

Speaking at a campaign event on Tuesday, Trump thanked an Iraq War veteran who had just given him his Purple Heart as a gift prior to taking the stage.

The Purple Heart, of course, is a medal bestowed upon members of our military who were injured during battle.

It"s one of the highest honors anyone can receive.

“I said to him, ‘Is that like the real one or is that a copy? And he said, ‘That’s my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you,’” Trump told supporters in Ashburn.

“And I said, ‘Man that’s big stuff.’ I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier, but I tell you it was such an honor.”

Yes, Donald Trump just joked that standing at a podium and being handed a Purple Heart was "easier" than actually enlisting and earning one on the ground.

Need we bother explaining why this comment has drawn such ire?

Trump received four draft deferments for college and one for “bone spurs in his heels” during the Vietnam War, The New York Times has reported.

He essentially did all he could to get out of fighting.

Among those aghast over Trump"s comment and his acceptance of the Purple Heart?

Sean Barney, a Democrat running for Congress in Delaware who was shot in the neck by a sniper while on patrol with the Marine Corps in Fallujah.

“Today, a Donald Trump supporter handed him a Purple Heart. Trump’s flippant and repugnant reply: ‘I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier,’” Barney wrote in a post on Facebook.

“As someone who fought for our country in Iraq, was injured, and was awarded a Purple Heart, I can tell you, no one should ever ‘want’ to get a Purple Heart.”

Khizr Khan, the father of late Army Captain Humayun S.M. Khan, also criticized Trump during an interview on CNN.

Addressing the Presidential candidate, Khan slammed him as follows:

“You had your chance. You escaped. You dodged the draft ― and now you want an ‘easy’ Purple Heart in your pocket?

"You should have pinned it back. Even now, call that man. I want his surrogates to call that man, thank him and put that Purple Heart back on that person’s chest.”

Watch Trump talk about the Purple Heart in the video below and then decide:

Is this the lowest he has sunk yet? Or is that an impossible measure to even take?

Demi Lovato Honors Prince, Sings "Purple Rain"

Demi Lovato has become the latest performance to pay tribute to Prince.

The young singer took the stage at the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular in Boston, Massachusetts for a special that aired on the Fourth of July this past Monday.

But she took a few minutes at one point to honor the late musical icon instead of her native country.

Decked out in a sequined romper, the pop star blew away the audience – both those watching live and on television – by delivering a rendition of "Purple Rain" with the Boston Pops Orchestra.

You can check out video of the tribute below.

Prince, of course, passed away on April 21.

His body was found at his home in Minnesota and an official report later confirmed that Prince died from an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl.

Ever since this shocking tragedy, celebrities from around Hollywood have paid their respects in various ways to the iconic artist.

Spike Lee, for instance, wore a sort of ridiculous outfit to the 2016 BET Awards.

Madonna and Stevie Wonder, meanwhile, teamed up at the Billboard Music Awards.

Lovato is one of the younger singers to perform "Purple Rain" as a way to pay homage to Prince, but it just goes to show the massive influence he had over musicians from all eras.

Also during her appearance at this July 4 special,, Lovato performed "Cool for the Summer," "Confident" and she sang a duet of "Close" and "America the Beautiful" with Future Now tour mate Nick Jonas.

But everyone is talking about her Prince cover this week.

For good reason.

Take a look and a listen below and you"ll understand why.

Jennifer Hudson Belts Out "Purple Rain," Is Amazing

It"s not easy to upstage Beyonce.

But Jennifer Hudson very nearly did it at the 2016 BET Awards.

After Queen Bey opened the event with a sterling version of "Freedom," Hudson took to the stage as one of several musicians who paid tribute to Prince with a rendition of one of his classic singles.

The former American Idol finalist, who helped honor the late singer on Broadway a day after he died in April, brought the BET Awards crowd to its feet with her version of "Purple Rain."

Decked out in a short white dress with a hood – as a nod to the outfit Prince wore at the 2005 People’s Choice Awards – the 34-year-old artist put her vocal prowess on full display, nailing hitting every note in the song from the 1984 eponymous soundtrack.

Earlier in the night, Stevie Wonder, Tori Kelly, The Roots, Erykah Badu and Bilal also paid tribute to Prince, who died at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota on April 21.

His body was discovered in an elevator and he was pronounced dead not long after authorities arrived on the scene.

Weeks later, the official cause of death for the 57-year old was listed as an accidental fentanyl overdose.

The music industry has been in mourning ever since, but performances such as the one below at least serve to remind us of all Prince accomplished during his time on Earth.

“Jennifer Hudson tearing the ROOF OFF,” Mia Farrow Tweeted in response to this cover, while Charlamagne Tha God added:

“Jennifer Hudson be singing like the fate of the free world depends on her nailing it Everytime."

Another Twitter user chimed in with:

"A Goddess sang tonight for Prince. No one could do any better. Tears of gratitude, Soul beauty. @IAMJHUD @BET #PrinceTribute."

What else can we say?

Check out the tribute for yourself:

Purple Rain Returning to Theaters as Tribute to Prince

Prince fans can now relive the magic of Purple Rain on the big screen.

The semi-autobiographical rock drama starring Prince can be seen for a limited time at select AMC Theaters starting today.

Purple Rain tells the story of a young musician, “The Kid” (Prince), and his rise to stardom through the clubs in Minneapolis.

The Kid is a misunderstood albeit genius artist who grapples with abusive parents, a budding relationship with a new singer and rival band Morris Day and the Time.

The film, first released in 1984, is a must-see (or a must-see again) for any Prince fan, as it gives keen insights into who the man was as an individual.

It brought us one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, featuring indelible tracks such as “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “I Would Die 4 U,” and, of course, “Purple Rain.”

With Purple Rain, Prince was the first artist to ever have the top movie, album and single at the same time.

The film earned $ 80 million at the box office and is expected to rake in many more during its temporary run in the coming week.

Prince Rogers Nelson died Thursday morning in his Minnesota home at the age of 57.

An autopsy was conducted yesterday, but an official cause of death may not be known for weeks pending toxicology results.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no foul play was suspected and does not believe Prince’s death was a suicide.

TMZ reported that Prince had been treated for an overdose of Percoset just six days before his death when his plane made an emergency landing to administer a “save shot,” which is said to counter the effects of opiates.

It is unknown whether drugs played a role in the music legend’s untimely death.

Purple Rain can be seen throughout the country at select AMC theaters from Saturday, April 23 through Thursday, April 28.

The Hollywood Reporter provides a complete listing of theaters.

LeBron James Dresses as Prince, Sings "Purple Rain"

LeBron James has won two NBA titles in his career.

But the Cleveland Cavaliers do-it-all small forward may have just come away with the biggest victory of his career.

Because James dressed the iconic musician Prince for Halloween in 2015 and wasn"t merely content in just sitting around in the incrdeible outfit, either.

In the video below, we see excerpts of LeBron singing a few lyrics from Prince"s most famous song, "Purple Rain.

Oh, yes. For real. We are not making this up.

Does this mean LeBron James just won Halloween? One can easily make such a case.

Yes, Heidi Klum dressed up in another wildly detailed and impressive outfit, attending her own party this year as Jessica Rabbit.

And Ellen DeGeneres created the character of Karla Kardashian, rocking some very large breasts and a decent-sized fake booty to be the fourth Kardashian sister.

And let"s not forget how The Today Show and Good Morning America crews went all out; the former as Peanuts characters such as Charlie Brown and the latter as current relevant celebrities such as Donald Trump.

But none of these celebrities added singing or performing to their costumes.

None of them got as into character as LeBron does here.

The man known around the world as King James is clearly very familiar with Prince, both in terms of fashion and singing style.

Check out the amazing video below and then respond to the only question we have left at this point:

Should we now call him Prince James?
