Kanye West Apologizes for Slavery Comment, Breaks Down on Air
Kanye West is known for saying a lot of crazy stuff.
He just comes right out and tells the world what sort of porn he likes to watch, for instance.
But the rapper appeared on Chicago-based radio station 107.5 on Wednesday and said something we never expected to hear him say:
Kanye issued an apology.
The artist has been under more fire than ever before over the past several weeks, due to patently ridiculous comments he made this summer about how slavery was a choice for black people.
He also made it clear, over and over and over again, that he was an ardent support of Donald Trump, sharing a photo, for instance, of himself in a Make America Great Again hat.
In this radio interview, however, Kanye basically took it all back.
"I don’t know if I properly apologized for how the slavery comment made people feel,” West said, adding on air:
"I’m sorry for the one-two effect of the MAGA hat into the slave comment, and I’m sorry for people that felt let down by that moment.
"And I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to talk to you about the way I was thinking and what I was going through."
Wow, right?
Kanye actually dissolved into full-on tears at one point as well, touching on the subject of his late mother and how he has lacked a support system over the years.
He told the hosts that"s the reason why his wife, Kim Kardashian, has not suffered a mental breakdown yet: because her family is always, always there for her.
"The thing about being called crazy, the biggest stigma that has to be broken is that you instantly get written off,” he continued.
“But you might be the only one who knows what they’re talking about. Also, what I wanna say to everyone listening right now – I have never really approached or addressed the slavery comment fully.
"And it’s not something for me to overly intellectualize.
"This is something about the fact that it hurt people’s feelings and the way that I presented that piece of information. I could present in a way, more calm way, but I was ramped up. And I apologize.
"That happens sometimes when people are – I’m not blaming mental health, but I’m explaining mental health."
We never thought we"d live to see this day, did you?
Check out the extended clip featured on this page to hear more from Kanye on this personal and important topic.

Kendall Jenner Makes Dumb Comment, Pisses Off Entire Modeling World
Remember the great Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad debacle of 2017?
Well, this isn’t quite as bad as that, but it’s still evidence that you can spend your entire life in the spotlight and still grow up to be totally ignorant of how to interact with the general public.
As you’re probably aware, Kendall is a model — and quite a successful one, at that.
But from the start, there have been rumors that she’s had trouble earning the respect of her fellow models.
Reports of Kendall being snubbed by her colleagues were rampant after her first Victoria’s Secret show, but it seems she’s managed to win some of the skeptics over in the years since.
Now, however, she may have squandered all that hard-earned goodwill with a single awkward interview.
“Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do,” Kendall recently told Love magazine.
“I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f-ck those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else,” she added.
“The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.”
Turns out boasting about how in-demand you are doesn’t exactly endear you to people struggling to make a living in your field, especially when you were born with advantages they can only dream of.
The backlash against Kendall was immediate — and intense.
“This makes me so angry,” Victoria’s Secret model Jac Jagaciak tweeted in response to the interview.
“So disrespectful to literally 99% of people in the industry — yes, they had to work their way up. Please get in touch with the real world!”
Model Vita Sidorkina also chimed in, tweeting:
“Maybe ‘those girls’ need to pay their bills that’s why they are doing 30 shows? No words…”
Kendall quickly got in front of the situation and apologized in a lengthy statement posted on several social media platforms:
“I was misrepresented in a recent interview over the weekend and it’s important to clarify the meaning. It was intended to be entirely complimentary but unfortunately, my words were twisted and taken out of context,” she wrote.
“I want to be clear. The respect I have for my peers is immeasurable!”
Kendall added:
“I get to experience first hand their tireless commitment, their work ethic, the endless days, the lack of sleep, separation from family and friends, stress of traveling, the toll on physical and mental health, yet they still make it all look effortless and beautiful.
“I’m so inspired by so many of these people I have had the good fortune to work alongside! There’s no way I could EVER hate on that. I want everyone to win. SLAY ALWAYS.”
Hmm … we’re willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because much of the meaning of Kendall’s original statement would depend on the tone in which it was expressed.
Of course, we’re not the ones Kendall is apologizing to.
Her fellow models are obviously pissed — and her apology, no matter how well-intentioned, may be too little, too late.

#BoycottRoseanne Movement Grows in Wake of Comedian"s Return, Nazi Comment
Roseanne Barr is very much back.
The veteran comedian and actress – who fell so far out of the spotlight and grew so desperate for attention over the years that she tried to seduce Kanye West – returned in a major way this week:
The revival of her beloved sitcom attracted 18.2 million viewers on Tuesday night, a truly astounding figure in this day and age of entertainment.
But is Roseanne Barr back… and better than ever?
Yes, if one is referring to the effective ways in which Barr stirs up controversy.
An outspoken Donald Trump supporter, Roseanne has modeled the fictional version of herself after this real-life version…
… but it’s something Barr recently said in real life that has many folks around the Internet pushing for a boycott of her series.
On March 24, Parkland shooting victim David Hogg addressed a huge crowd at the Washington D.C. March for Our Lives and, at one point, raised his fist high in the air.
He did so to inspire those around the country to rally around him and other school shooting survivors on the topic of sensible gun control.
But some folks out there somehow interpreted this as a Nazi salute.
Roseanne was apparently among these folks.
At least one Twitter user captured screenshots of Roseanne’s verified Twitter account (which is named Roseanne Barr with the handle “therealroseanne”) sending a message that tagged Hogg and read simply:
“NAZI SALUTE.”
See for yourself:
(NOTE: If we need to explain to you how this is NOT a Nazi salute… well.. we just can’t. We don’t have the mental energy. You’re already a lost cause.)
As a result of this Roseanne statement, a movement has grown around social media; or a hashtag, to be more precise and relevant.
A handful of critics are encouraging others to #BoycottRoseanne, while railing against the sitcom and its star in general:
It came out on Thursday, meanwhile, that President Trump actually called to congratulate Roseanne on the success of her television return.
She said as much during an appearance on Good Morning America.
“It was pretty exciting, I’ll tell you that much,” Barr said on air. “I’ve known him for many years and he’s done a lot of nice things for me over the years.”
On her rebooted series, Roseanne’s family has been torn apart by the 2016 Presidential election.
Tension and anger runs high among all relatives, most notably Roseanne and her sister, portrayed by Laurie Metcalf.
“I just wanted to have that dialogue about families torn apart by the election and their political differences of opinion and how we handle it,” Barr told the New York Times in an interview published on Tuesday.
She added that it was her idea for the Roseanne character to be a Trump supporter.
This is why:
“It’s an accurate portrayal of these people and people like them.
“In terms of what they think, and who they feel when they are the ones who send their kids over to fight.
“We’ve been in wars for a long, long time, which everybody seems to forget, but working class people don’t forget it because their kids are in it.”
As a reminder, this is how Roseanne once sang the national anthem:

Jill Duggar SLAMMED For Racist Social Media Comment!
Jill Duggar is in hot water yet again.
Although at this point, she’s probably used to the temperature, as it’s where she spends most of her time.
As you may have heard, Derick Dillard was fired by TLC after harassing a fellow network star on Twitter.
Derick did not appear in Monday’s Countong On season premiere, and many fans took note of the fact that Jill was absent from the episode as well.
So it appears that Jill is either sitting this one out, or she was axed alongside her husband.
Either way, if she had hoped the scrutiny of her personal life would diminish now that she’s stepped away from the spotlight, she’s got another thing coming.
The latest mini-scandal has to do with a comment that Jill posted on her sister Joy-Anna’s Instagram page.
As you may have heard, Joy welcomed her first child this month, and the photo above is the first pic of little Gideon to appear online.
“We are so blessed by the arrival of our son, Gideon Martyn Forsyth! He was born on 02/23/18 @ 3:39pm, weighing 10lbs. 3oz. and was 22 inches long!” Joy captioned the image.
Jill remarked:
“Congrats @austinandjoyforsyth on baby Gideon! We are so happy for y’all! #anotherbuddyinourteam #favoritetia.”
It’s that second hashtag that’s got everyone up in arms.
“I’m Hispanic and it feels like she is using Spanish to seem cool, hip, whatever. Sounds like cultural appropriation to me.” wrote one commenter.
“At this point, it feels like cultural appropriation. You’re not in [Central America] anymore, Jill. Derick is not papa, you are not tia,” commented another.
The second remark refers to the fact that Jill and Derick performed missionary work in El Salvador for the better part of two years.
We won’t bother to weigh in on the controversy regarding Jill’s use of “tia” except to say it seems a bit nit-picky.
Far it be it for us to defend a couple as problematic as the Dillards, but we wonder if this same people would be this upset if Jill casually tossed out an “adios,” or another word borrowed from Spanish.
Interestingly, it seems criticism of Jill and Derick has only intensified in the months since Derick was fired.
That’s partially for good reason.
After all, Derick sais some pretty abhorrent things, and it certaintly doesn’t seem he’s learned his lesson.
Still, maybe fans should be saving their outrage for occasions like the time Derick attacked the Parkland shooting survivors in an unhinged social media tirade.
We know that outrage isn’t a finite resource (especially in 2018), but it’s most effective when used judiciously.
Watch Counting On online for more from reality TV’s most controversial family.
