The Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: South Peach
It was only a matter of time.
Porsha continued to gush over her new man on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but Kandi Burruss had some intel on Dennis that she kept very private from her frenemy.
When Porsha started talking about Dennis during a meeting, she was adamant that she was not all about waiting for a long time to get married.
“We don’t have to wait forever!” Porsha said regarding marriage. “The whole two years, you wait a year, you’re engaged a year — I will do it.”
If you watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online, you know that Kandi and Porsha have been at odds for over a year, and while they’ve made a peace treaty, they’re still dragging each other behind the scenes.
It makes sense then that Kandi would insert herself into Porsha’s Dennis drama.
“Is he already talking about marriage?” the Xscape hitmaker quipped.
“Well,” Porsha replied with a stern look. “A little here and there.”
“Okay, I know we ain’t been tight, but I’ll just say, don’t always put out how badly you wanna be married,” Kandi said to her former BFF. “Kinda let him put it out there.”
“I think the advice that Kandi’s giving me is pretty general,” Porsha said to the Bravo cameras. “She probably would say that to anybody, but thank you.”
Kandi later intrigued viewers in a confessional by saying the following:
“Keep him under wraps, honey — if you can!”
Okay then. Does this mean Dennis cannot be tamed, and will not settle down any time soon? Quite possibly.
In any case, Kandi elaborated further when she FaceTimed her husband to let him know about the trip to Miami.
“After all the girls came back to the hotel, Porsha was telling us about her new boo,” Kandi said.
“She’s dating that dude that owns Cru. You know what I’m talking about?”
Todd was adamant that he had never been to the place, but his wife delved deeper into the drama.
“I mean, I already knew that she was dating him, but I didn’t wanna say that you know what I mean?” Kandi continued.
“I didn’t wanna be like, ‘I got tea on somebody!’ She’s trying to be really hush-hush about it, so I’m just gonna let her tell what she wants to tell in her due time.”
That’s when Todd confirmed she needed to stay the hell out of it. Their relationship is not in the best place, but they’re somewhat tolerable towards each other of late.
That’s a start, we guess.
“Yes, I’ve heard things about her new boo,” Kandi dished in a later confessional. “I just know a few different women who have — you know — dated him. Just pace yourself, girl.”
Elsewhere, NeNe Leakes started to get back to work following Gregg’s cancer diagnosis.
Cynthia, Kandi, Eva, and Marlo all decided it was a good idea to visit NeNe in Miami to support her, but when they arrived, Gregg was open and honest.
He was struggling to eat and hadn’t been able to keep anything down for three days. His health continued to deteriorate at the opening of NeNe’s boutique, but the ladies were on hand to help him through it.

South Carolina Woman Drives Drunk, Says She"s Too "White" to Get Arrested
A resident of Bluffton, South Carolina was pulled over for reckless driving last Saturday morning and arrested on a number of charges.
This, despite the fact that she was white.
That statement may seem like a ridiculous non-sequitor, but it was actually the argument used by Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw at the time over her run-in with the law.
As documented by The New York Post, the 32-year old was caught by police officers blowing through a four-way stop sign at 60 miles per hour around 1:45 a.m. on August 4.
With eyes described in the official report as bloodshot and glossy, Cutshaw told the cops that she had only two glasses of wine.
But she was allegedly slurring her words and there was a strong scent of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.
“I mean, I was celebrating my birthday,” Cutshaw told the cops when they asked her how big the glasses were for her pair of drinks, according to the report.
This is a rather aburd excuse for two reasons:
- Her birthday is on August 9.
- One’s birthday is not an excuse for breaking the law.
But this seemingly typical arrest has gone viral for a different reason.
Cutshaw gave the officers what she believes were perfectly reasonable explanations for why they shouldn’t place her under arrest. To wit:
She maintained perfect grades during all of her school years… she was a cheerleader … she was a member of a sorority.
Oh, and also:
“I’m a white, clean girl,” Cutshaw said, according to the report.
For some reason, however, this defense did not mean anything to the arresting officers.
When the officers asked what, exactly, Lauren meant by this announcement, she replied:
“You’re a cop, you should know what that means.”
(Translation: You guys only shoot and harass black people. So come on! Give me a break!)
What did mean something to these authority figures?
The fact that Cutshaw failed sobriety tests; and that a breathalyzer showed that her blood alcohol at the time was .18 percent (the legal limit in South Carolina is 0.08 percent).
The report actually cited Cutshaw’s “white” remark, noting:
“Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect’s level of intoxication.”
And also of her white privilege.
In the end, Lauren was booked on charges of speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tom Cruise"s Mother Dies; Mary Lee South Was 80 Years Old
Mary Lee South, the mother of Tom Cruise, passed away last week from unknown causes, according to People Magazine.
She was 80 years old.
Sources tell the publication that South died peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with a number of health issues.
She was honored with a memorial service at her local Church of Scientology over the weekend.
The 54-year-old actor and his sisters – Lee Ann DeVette, 57, Cass Mapother, 55, and Marian Henry, 52 – all were in attendance at the memorial, along with other family and friends.
Cruise’s mother was born Mary Lee Pfeiffer in Louisville, Kentucky.
She worked as a special-education teacher when she got married to Cruise’s father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III, who served as an electrical engineer.
Insiders have often said that Cruise developed his passion for acting from Mary Lee, who told Rolling Stone the following in 1986:
“I was always interested in theater, but I never did anything with it. When I was growing up, if you went to Hollywood, that was really risqué.”
Mary Lee and her kids lived in Syracuse, New York when Cruise was born; they later moved to Ottawa, Canada.
When Cruise was a child, Mary Lee encouraged her son to participate in a local theater group.
“I guess I was his greatest audience,” she said in that same Rolling Stone interview. “He had it in him then.”
Mary Lee divorced Mapother in 1974, with Cruise telling People decades later that his dad was “a bully.”
Folloing the end of her marriage, Mary Lee returned to the United States, where she worked a number of jobs to keep her family out of poverty.
Cruise did the best he could by earning money via a paper route.
He remained close to his mother even after she married Jack South in 1978 and the family relocated to Glen Ridge, New Jersey.
After a knee injury ended Cruise’s varsity wrestling career, Mary Lee convinced her son to try out for a high school production of Guys and Dolls.
Following the play, Cruise surprised his mother by asking if he could go ahead and give acting a try; he said he wanted to see how far he could get in 10 years.
Mary Lee approved – and, with her support, Cruise waited tables in New York City before breaking into the movies.
Cruise and his mom continued their close bond long into his wildly successful big screen career.
Per the same Rolling Stone article cited above, Cruise asked Mary Lee and her second husband if he could be an actor many years ago, to which she replied:
“We both wholeheartedly agreed. Because we both felt it was a God-given talent … So to make a long story short, we gave him our blessing – and the rest is history.”
It is, indeed.
